Hello,
For last month or so, I'm experiencing this very low volume of call speaker (not the one at bottom).
When I play music or videos, I also noticed that the normal top speaker is weak, while the bottom speaker is loud.
Is this a software related or hardware issue?
I'm on stock latest Android 7.1.1 (32.4.A.1.54), never done unlocking or any custom ROM on it.
I think this started after recent updates of Support app which were pushed.
Using handsfree, wired or Bluetooth is same, to me it seems like a software issue.
Is there any settings I can change which can make the call volume loud again?
Thanks.

its mostly software issue i doubled my speaker and voice, ringtone, media ,alarm, with root ( i change all mixer value so i do not remember which is which
my alarm now more then 60% doubled it sound distorted
so i cant post the file because it not perfect what im only sure of
under
<path name="voice-speaker">
<ctl name="RX7 Digital Volume" value="0" />
<ctl name="RX8 Digital Volume" value="84" />
there are left and right speakers for voice call
mine now is 90&90 i hear stereo and much louder on speaker phone
Thanks for your reply.
My phone is stock, and I want it to keep it stock. Is there any other way it can be fixed?
If not, I'm now thinking of changing my phone to Xiaomi Mi6 or one from Redmi series.

If you want to tamper with /system - you need root. For root, you need unlocked BL. This phone is much faster anyway with a custom kernel.

Update on low volume issue after flashing custom ROM.
Volume seems to be back at normal. Made some calls and it is now reasonably better than before. Using this ROM https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink?ur...share_tid=3694904&share_fid=3793&share_type=t
It already have volume patches applied, so I didn't touch anything yet in system folder.

Hi Guys,
So this is how you edit the volume files
Prerequisite
1. Root
2. Backup
3. Root Explorer
Method
1. Use any root explorer and go to
system/ etc/ mixer_paths.xml
2. search for <path name="speaker"> then edit <ctl name=RX7 Digital Volume" value = "83" />
change 83 to 89 or any digit below 93 (just to be on the safer side)
3. RESTART
There are other options to edit i.e headphones etc just explore edit and post your optimum value.

ummm.. you do realize there are various options to edit right ? editing speaker values will affect speaker only . Is that what you wanted?
Ok I tried again and worked perfectly, thanks!!
Worked for me perfectly, thanks a lot!
works btw. Do you guys know which one is for bluetooth headphones, or will the headphones work for bluetooth?
Speaker "87" suits me n almost makes the speaker with cracking sound...
Handset "85" which slightly increase the earpiece...

On the xperia e1 i didn`t find the RX7 value in the mixer_paths.xml file. For speaker i have rx3 digital volume with value of 83.
I am looking to up the volume of my headphones, but in the headset section i do not have hphl and hphr values, only rx1 and rx2 digital volume with value of 84. Any sugestions ?
Thanks !
anyone knows what the max value is?
Tested on the z ultra c6802 all 84s set to 92 very minamil increase. If any thanks.
Never mind looking for stuff in xml files, just download Nexus 5 Real volume boost from play store and you have loud sound.
Tested and working perfect!

I've manually changed many values in the mixer paths in order to increase in call volume, loudspeaker and headphone output.
Ear piece volume set to 93 or max 95, headphone value to 97 or 98 and speaker/loudspeaker to around 95.
Sounds good for me!
I know this is a tad old of a thread, but I wanted to say thanks to anybody who is having low volume out of an older KitKat device.
I was recently given two KitKat phones (LG L34C and ZTE 932L) and only the LG seems to have a Root right now.
The LG was a decent phone but it was super frustrating how low Bluetooth Headphones and Bluetooth Speakers were after paired especially if they did not have volume controls on them.
After changing speaker and handset I can finally get nice and loud sound to where I have to turn the speakers down when setting it to "89".
Oddly it was set to "60" for speaker and handset to "50" by default.
I walk by noisy cars at times and it was too way low to even hear a connected Bluetooth Speaker before.
Hey
I think that the speaker at the bottom of the z ultra is much too quiet during a phone call. It is hardly useable while driving car.
Is there a mod to get the speaker louder?tl
Thanks in advance.

Simply flash THIS stereo sound mod:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z-ultra/themes-apps/true-real-stereo-sound-earpiece-t2822893
I advise you to go with the V10 update, best version.
Loudspeaker, ear piece and voice calls are far louder than stock, far better quality with almost no distortion.
Flash the above sound mod and get back to us.
I'm personally using the V10 stereo mod sound and it works wonders, highly recommended.

No need to wipe your rom. Simply boot into recovery mode/CWM and flash the audio mod. Reboot phone and enjoy the sound and stereo speakers.
With this mod you get sound out the ear piece when using loudspeaker giving you stereo effect.
I too had very low volume, especially when making phone calls in a loud environment. Even using the volume to the maximum wasn't enough.
Using applications such as Skype/Talkray were even worse, volume too low.
After flashing the audio mod, my volume is now set to 6/10. Any louder and my ears ring, too loud!
Flash the given sound mod. Try some music, videos and phone calls upon completion. I'm sure you'll be more than satisfied.
Thank dontbelieve for his hard work. It was him who took the time and effort in making this mod. Support and updates were frequent.

Play a video or music and see if sound comes from both top and bottom speaker.
Yes it is wooow cool.
I looked at the mixer_path.xml the rx?digital volume is everything on 84. Rx7 is for the speaker right? I changed it to 94. Is this option for watching video/music and voice call? Which volume is for headphones?

I have tried V1 all the way to v14 and the BEST one was V10.
Sound was louder, clearer and less distortion.
Most other updates had boomy sound, too much bass and not as loud as V10.

Correct. I have my Rx7 volume to 94, perfect for me.
Volume for headphones will be under 'headphone voice cfg' setting. Mine is set to 94.. You will find the option further down the speaker cfg. Also change the 'headphones' value to 90 or 94. 'Voice speaker' is set to 105 for loud and clear call volume.
Lastly, 'headphones' is set to 94.
Once changing the above values, make sure you save and reboot for the desired effect to take place.

Awesome. Love it with my razer kraken pro headset. The bass bangs my ears
Hi guys, today I just bought a used Sony Z2, and unfortunately the bottom speaker makes some cracking and popping noises when the music is loud.
Can I change something like a balance in the phone settings so when I listen something (YouTube, music, ringtone) on the speakers the bottom speaker recives lower decibels, so I won't hear those cracking noises, while the upper speaker works at full potential?
Help would be much appreciated.
PS: for headphones I would like the balance to remain untouched.
THANKS.

I'm flashing it as we speak.
LE: nope, still that cracking noise. If i let the volume around 60% everything is fine, if I rise it higher, that sound comes from the bottom speaker. I need to find a way to reduce just the bottom speaker volume, while using the full capacity of the top one.

Its need to change in these four files.
go to system / etc / tfa98xx
and find these four files
1- HiFiSpeakerRing_btm.eq
2- HiFiSpeakerRing_btm.preset
3- HiFiSpeakerRing_top.eq
4- HiFiSpeakerRing_top.preset
And you also need to change so much values in mixer_paths.xml can't tell right now i did not test them.
Or
In xperia Z2 forum there is one great developer name niaboc79 He is master in this field. you can ask him also.

@zohaib0001
hei, I tried to play with various values from the mixer_pathx.xml, but nothing seems to work.
I changed my mind and I thought that if its possible to rise up the volume, it should be possible to lower it down right?
so, could you point me which lines from mixer_paths.xml determine the volume for the external speakers in all situations (ringtone, playback, speakerphone) so I could lower thrm down, so I won't have any problem at high volume.
Thank you!
This is a simple modification to the MTK Settings
It's tested in the following roms: (might work on 6.0 but not sure)
- Stock Rom
- Eragon V1
What it does, it enhances the headphone's sound to its full potential
All you have to do is:
1: Enable Debug Options (settings, about phone, press build version several times, go back to settings and there should be a new option there, open it and close settings).
2: Download MTK Engineering Mode from playstore.
3: After Installing it, Open it and select MTK Settings.
4: Go on Hardware Testing - Audio - Volume - Audio Playback.
5: On 3/4-pole Headset set the Headset PGA to 160 and save.
6: Test and see the differences ?
It's a really simple modification, but if you have any questions, feel free to ask ?

you cant set to higher than that, and even if it could it would just degrade the speakers even more, causing to either malfunction or lose eveb more volume to a point of no returb... This is a modification to the earphones only, you can mess with the speakers and put on the max that the app allows, but thats it, anything above the limits will degrade the speakers.

Hi!
I used to modify mixer_paths file to decrease in-call volume, because for me the lowest setting is still too high in many cases.
Under <path name="headset">, I would find a Digital Volume setting and substitute its number with a lower one.
However, I can't figure out how to achieve the same thing with XZ1. Under System/Vendor/Etc, there are two files: mixer_paths.xml and mixer_paths_tasha.xml. The first does not seem to do anything (the sounds of the phone did not change even after I renamed it). The second is being used by the phone, but in it under <path name="headset">, there is no Digital Volume variable. My attempts to guess which other values could be responsible for call volume thus far have been fruitless.
Do you have any ideas about how this setting could be altered in XZ1?
