Bootloop after update - Huawei MediaPad M5 Questions & Answers

Hi, I have mediapad m5 pro CMR-W19 model on stock ROM. When I have notification about the software update from Huawei, I download it and installing the update. But when it's installing the update, it suddenly failed and can't do the boot. And everytime I turned on the device, it's only booted to Huawei eRecovery. When I do factory reset, it's always failed. I try to install the update using update.app on micro sd and always failed.
Please what can I do?
sorry for my bad English

If I understand correctly the update didn't complete?
Were you rooted before the update?
I don't really know what you can do, other than repeat what I mention in similar threads - when I bootlooped Funky Huawei's eRecovery method is all that worked for me. It's not free.
As long as everything is working smooth, I prefer to avoid updates. There is more to go wrong than to go right IMO.

Software Update

I have tried to look for this but can't seem to find info on this, maybe I'm not searching for the right thing, if anyone can point me in the right direction that would be fantastic.
I keep getting a msg on my phone that there is a software update on my phone, I go to install the update, it downloads it, then says my phone needs to be restarted. it restarts and I get to the CWM boot screen... then tells me it failed to update my phone. I'm assuming it isnt working due to the fact my phone is rooted. any suggestions on how to's to do this?
Thank you
Unroot phone .
Update OTA
Root phone
Or join XDA developers and flash stock rom via odin.

If you want a samsung update you have to flash a stock rom without root with Odin. You could also use Mobile Odin Pro for flashing a newer firmware and still keep root. You get the firmware here www.sammobile.com/firmware.
Disable Update
That sounds like a bit of a process that I'm not looking to get into right now... until then, is there a way to disable the update notification so that it doesn't keep alerting me that there is an update? it's starting to get rather annoying, it keeps pooping up from time to time.
You can freeze or remove the Update app. An app that doesn't exist cannot give you notifications.
It's not needed for the phone's correct functioning.
Flashing through Odin + Re-Rooting is a procedure of roughly 5 minutes, 4 of which for the firmware transfer and double-checking of the input.
Update CWM and re-run the root process

I had the same issue. I had rooted the phone using an older version of CWM. In this version OTA updates download but fail to install after booting to recovery.
Download the latest versions of CWM from here and re-run the rooting process. The newer version of CWM (1.5 and up) supports OTA. Worked a charm for me!
Or you can just plug the handset into your pc and update with kies. You will need to reroot following this though.

Asus Firmware Update Issue

I have a TP201, unlocked bootloader, rooted. No ROMs, just Android 4.0.3.
My machine doesn't recognize any system firmware update. I followed the instructions in various locations on downloading the official Asus update, moved to internal memory, temp unrooted (with Voodoo) and restarted. Upon restart, it prompts me to start update sequence. I do so, it reboots to CWM boot. I tried restarting, no dice. I went to install zipped update from Asus, restarted and it still went back to CWM Recovery.
I researched and installed ADB for bricked 1a option...and now my machine boots to 4.0.3 fine again.
I would like to install the Asus firmware update but don't know how - it seems CWM is interfering somehow.
Thank you.

Read about things before unlocking. Learn where to ask questions.

P.S.
You cannot update your tablet with official Asus updates after unlocking. Search the forums for developer assisted solutions.

Once you unlock there is no way back to a stock Asus Rom. What you can do however is to use a custom Rom based on the Asus source. I'm using Androwook 1.51 which seems very very close to the stock Rom feature wise but rooted and more customizable - and faster and smoother. In fact it makes me wonder why Asus itself can't seem to make a Rom like this when the devs on this site can make an Ausus ROM better than Ausus itself can do?
Bascially unless you use a custom ROM now that you are unlocked you are permanently stuck on 4.03.
Go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1674827
Follow the instructions in the second post for "Upgrade instructions for ICS". Read everything very carefully. Read it many times if you have to to make sure you understand it. Ask questions first, then flash, not the other way around. You currently have a working device so take your time and don't take unnecessary chances.

That is why i unlocked my last week.

Actually the issue is that the OP wants the update from Asus but did not understand that once he unlocked he was never going to get it.

[Q] Failing to update, reset

Hi all, I originally rooted my phone using this post several months ag http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2380325
I'm still fairly new to the dealings of root, and have found that I only used it to have access to a couple of cool apps that required root and at that rate I don't even use any more. That being said, I finally accepted the most recent update being okay that I would likely loose my root access. The update kept failing, I assumed because of the root. I backed up my personal data, and performed a factory reset from the phone. The phone still has superuser from the reset and still fails to update. Could someone help me return my phone to fully stock configuration? Thanks!

Find out what odin is. Then..
Google "odin emergency tar (your build number here)" or something to that effect.
If you don't know your build number then you have some more research to do. Good luck.
I'd recommend using the Verizon update assistant. Much easier, but takes about half an hour to do:
1) Connect phone to PC using USB cord
2) When prompted for what action to take when this device is connected, select Verizon update assistant. Installation will take a few minutes.
3) Start the update assistant and confirm that you want to update the phone. The update will take a few minutes.
When the update is complete, you should have the most current update (MK2), and no root access. Should you need root again, try Saferoot - it's quick and easy:

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction guys, I'll do some more research into both and report back soon.
Help! I've researched odin, downloaded and attempted to flash the stock image. Odin failed. My phone as of now is stuck in the downloading screen.

You need to flash the same stock image as what was previously on your phone.
If you don't know what version you were on previously, flash MJ7 or MK2.

Question Stuck on A10-update - can't update further

Hi.
Have trouble updateing my wifes nord 2 (eu) stock non-rooted. On A10-update.
Here's what I have tried.
* OTA update from the system updater. Won't update, and it gives me the an "validation error" after the phone reboots.
* Have tried the "oxygen updater" app. Downloaded the incremental update. Rebooted to recovery, and chose the file. Got an intallation error-update.
* Downloaded the update A10 to A12 from here. Rebooted to recovery, and chose the file. Got an installation error.
* Wiped the phone (both from android and recovery). Tried again. Same errors as before.
So. Do anybody have a clue what to do? I'm out of ideas - not keen on unlocking the bootloader, since it's my wifes work phone.
EDIT: Noticed I posted this on general. Should probably been under questions - sorry about that.
Back to the store?
Thanks for the replies.
The phone is going back to the store.

Somehow I broke the update system ANE-LX1

I was trying to install a custom rom and was not aware that you can only unlock the bootloader by paying, which is fine but I can't afford it at the moment but by then I downgraded my rom.
I returned to version 9 on my phone OS and was hoping to get updates afterwards through official updates as I was restoring back to stock but I made a mistake and downloaded and installed ANE-LGRP2-OVS 9.1.0.200 which was not the correct one.
I have tried a few roms, copied to SD card in the dload folder but no matter what I try it keeps failing. No matter what I try downgrades and upgrades won't work anymore.
It seems similar to this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/downgrade-ane-lx3-ane-lgrp2-ovs-pie-to-oreo.3944399/
Everything does seem to work fine on my phone except the update system and google pay is not happy and not enabling contactless (which I use all the time)
Is there anything I can do to fix my dumbness
How does the dload method fail? Or is it successful in installing a different firmware yet the official update service is still broken?
Have you tried the forced dload method and did a factory reset/wipe data immediately after installation in recovery?

for several reasons .
In this specific case it is due to installing the wrong FW (ANE-LGRP2-OVS ). With this build number it is impossible to install another full stock FW or update system via OTA.
I totally forget to mention on here that I solved it. I managed to get hold of a version 8 stock rom and installed it to the SD card, then it was happy to update itself from there all the way up to current version.
I don't know why it worked at that point as I'm pretty sure I tried that same thing several times before but sometimes there are things I cannot explain, it just randomly worked all of a sudden
