Hi.
Have trouble updateing my wifes nord 2 (eu) stock non-rooted. On A10-update.
Here's what I have tried.
* OTA update from the system updater. Won't update, and it gives me the an "validation error" after the phone reboots.
* Have tried the "oxygen updater" app. Downloaded the incremental update. Rebooted to recovery, and chose the file. Got an intallation error-update.
* Downloaded the update A10 to A12 from here. Rebooted to recovery, and chose the file. Got an installation error.
* Wiped the phone (both from android and recovery). Tried again. Same errors as before.
So. Do anybody have a clue what to do? I'm out of ideas - not keen on unlocking the bootloader, since it's my wifes work phone.
EDIT: Noticed I posted this on general. Should probably been under questions - sorry about that.
Back to the store?
Thanks for the replies.
The phone is going back to the store.

Hi all,
My first post and i've searched extensively for answers but nothing has helped!
I have a prime - for nearly 2 months now, as soon as I got it I updated to ICS then updated one more time to 9.4.2.11.
I've now not been able to update OTA to .14 and now not even the .15 update that's available. I've tried manually updating which always ends up with the android laying down with the explanation mark above him.
I did root my system - it's not unlocked (yet) which is another thing - tonight after not being able to update manually or OTA i tried unlocking to use the new ROM available - but again no luck as the unlock tool keeps telling me that it failed to unlock, please try again later... I've tried...
- Unrooting
- Factory resetting
- Updating manually
Would appreciate any light on the problems i'm having...
Have you modified any system files or deleted any stock apps that comes with the prime? If so that is your issue. You need to have all the stock system files and apps in place or OTA will not update.
Hi,
Yep i've now re-installed the present rom from Asus .11 to completly restore my system and i'm finally updated to .15.
In regards to unlocking my system - still getting the "failed to unlock" message...

Looks like it's an issue on asus side. Lots of people having this issue today.
Hi all,
My AT&T Atrix is running 4.5.91. I unrooted it to update to 4.5.141 OTA (I understood it was risky to do an OTA update while rooted).
After I finished downloading the update, I started installing but during installation, the package icon changed to a warning icon (with no error message) and the phone rebooted on 4.5.91 with a message saying the update failed
I think the package may have been corrupted in the download as it was interrupted. Although, I did try this 3 times (redownloading each time)
Any tips?
Thanks
You must have frozen and/or deleted some Blur apps as well as being rooted. Unless you have all the stock files from the firmware you are updating from, the install will fail.
I have unrooted the phone
However, I did use the "integrate system apps updates into ROM" option on TB.
I did not freeze anything
Will this work:
http://www.motorola.com/Support/US-EN/Atrix+Upgrade/Atrix-Gingerbread-Update
If not, what must I do?
Edit: Oh, and I also have AdFree installed and enabled. Should I revert?

The sd card method will fail for you as well. Undo everything that required root access, including adfree...not sure if it will restore the modified files back to stock though, never used that app.
Exactly what happened to me. Successfully updated using Motorola Software Update
Hi
You have succeeded?
I am stuck for months trying to do this update...
It's absolutely frustrating...
I actually stopped trying. I got a RAZR a few weeks after I started this thread...
I might unlock the BL and install some ROMs to play with the Atrix but basically I don't use it anymore...
Anyway, I think the problem I was having was because I integrated updates into the ROM and I don't think it can be undone
Bootloader Unlocked?
If your bootloader is unlocked the update will most likely not work. Regardless, the link below has some useful information.

Hi guys
I just got my wife a Samsung Galaxy S3 I747 for ATT using Straight Talk. I purchased one for my self about 3 months ago, same model. Both were purchased used, mine had 4.1.2 and my wife's has 4.1.1. I rooted and installed CWM Recovery on mine. I wanted to update my wife's to at least 4.1.2 like mine or even 4.1.3.
From my understanding, once you root and install a recovery mod, such as TWRP or the ClockWorkMod Recovery, that your phone will not be able to update via your service provider.
The problem is, I got her phone yesterday, and I tried to update it, but it kept saying it was at the latest update/firmware. I even installed Kies, but it reported the same thing. After a few hours, I decided I would root it and install TWRP and maybe install a new ROM with the FW on it later. Well, this morning, the phone reported that an important update was available. Somewhat confused, b/c I thought it couldn't be the FW b/c yesterday it said the phone was at the latest FW, and plus the fact the update is, as I thought, refused by the service provider or phone, when it is rooted or a recovery mod is installed. When it finished, of course it asked to reboot. I was curious how this was going to play out.
When it rebooted, it loaded the TWRP Recovery. Being still new to all this, I wasn't sure how to proceed, so I clicked the reboot button, but nothing happen, so I tried the shutdown button. The phone powered off with no issues. I turned it back on and it loaded successfully to the home screen. I checked the status of the update, and it said it failed. No surprise there, I'm just happy it didn't brick her phone during the process.
Is this normal? Should I just disable updates from my provider? Is it possible to install the update and then just reapply the root and recovery mod?
Thanks
Mike

It is perfectly normal. You described the expected sequence for a phone with any custom recovery. OTA updates download then reboot into stock recovery. Absent that ..what you said.
For your update path, I. urge you to visit xda's i747 forum & read up on the controversy & pitfalls of AT&T's OTA 4.3
Look out for:
locked bootloader
Knox Warranty bit
one way upgrade
(on pain of brick)
It's different this time around.
I've got a rooted Nexus 9 (WiFi) with TWRP installed. A few days ago I got a notification to install an update. I was surprised, as I didn't think OTA updates would come through once TWRP/root was set up. I tried installing it, but it just gets stuck at the TWRP logo.
I'm guessing that you can't just install OTA updates, so I have two questions:
1. How can I install the update (without losing all my data)?
2. If I can't install the update, how do I get rid of the "System update downloaded" message that keeps showing up?
It's been a few years since I've been in to this kind of stuff, so forgive me if these are dumb question
Thanks!
If your using systemless supersu and have an unmodified/untouched system partition then Flashfire app, maybe able to apply the update.

Otherwise you will need to flash factory images (which can be done without wiping data) to update.
Hi, I have mediapad m5 pro CMR-W19 model on stock ROM. When I have notification about the software update from Huawei, I download it and installing the update. But when it's installing the update, it suddenly failed and can't do the boot. And everytime I turned on the device, it's only booted to Huawei eRecovery. When I do factory reset, it's always failed. I try to install the update using update.app on micro sd and always failed.
Please what can I do?
sorry for my bad English
If I understand correctly the update didn't complete?
Were you rooted before the update?
I don't really know what you can do, other than repeat what I mention in similar threads - when I bootlooped Funky Huawei's eRecovery method is all that worked for me. It's not free.
As long as everything is working smooth, I prefer to avoid updates. There is more to go wrong than to go right IMO.
