Messed up audio real time! [RN3P] [MOTHERBOARD] - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Questions & Answers

Hello guys, I was having charging problems in my Redmi Note 3 Pro (kenzo). Searching for solutions I found one that said I should remove a diode from the motherboard. I did that and it worked, phone was charging normal again. BUT. I accidentally removed something else that was close to the didode. The Audio LDO. So now phone doesn't play any sound. Everything that needs audio doesn't work anymore. Playing videos, recording, etc. What should I do? Is there any possible solution or should I just throw it in the trash?

U should have used very tiny screwdriver to do it. Now buy new pcb. Its very cheap. U will get it on alieexpress. Buy right one. Buy for note 3 pro. Not mediatek.

The pcb you're refering to is the usb/charging board? Because the thing I removed was placed on the top part of the phone. In the actual mainboard. Could you send me the link, please?

There are 2 diodes protection.
First diode protection on charging board.
Second diode protection on mainboard.
Dont use qc charger. If u using quick charger then ur first diode will blow. And it will stop charging further and protect the mainboard. Current will not reach to mainboard.
if u remove the first diode then ur device will start charging again.
But if u continue to use high voltage like QC charger 2.0 ot 3.0 then it wil destroy 2nd diode protection from mainboard.
So never use QC charger after ur first diode protection gone.
Use stock charger.
But why did u remove 2nd protection from mainboard?
U should never use qc charger if ur first protection is gone.
But now If u already removed it and also damaged the audio components near to it then u should.go to service center and replace the mainboard. Ask repairguy how much it will cost.
Nowadays redmi note 3 whole phone comes cheap. So if he tell u too high price to replace mainboard then better buy new phone.
---------- Post added at 05:35 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:09 AM ----------
Here is the link .
U will get pic . the location of first diode which is located on charging board. U will find it on this thread which i posted somewhere.
Diode is a fuse which regulates and stabilises the voltage.
Its ur bad luck if u directly gone to mainboard to remove 2nd diode protection. U should first properly find the information. Whoever told u to remove 2nd diode mislead u.
High voltage will never blow ur 2nd diode unless u removed first protection.

Cant Charge XDA UPDATE: I FIXED IT!!!!!!!

Hi there...
i cant charge my XDA anymore. First i thought it was the battery, so i bought a new one...a 1800mAh...but still .. no chance to charge...i tried the cradle and an additional sync cable that i bought. i think the charging circuit might be dodgy, but i cant say for sure....any ideas? Sync works perfect btw.
Charger?
Charger works?
maybe its charger not battery fault?
Well i tried 2 different ones...one of them is USB sync and charge...the other one the standard cradle.
the XDA itself works perfect....but the battery will run out soon....
What it says when i try to upgrade the OS is that i should plug in the power...so the phone wont reckognize that power is connected.
i have no idea what to do. i think the guy who owned it before killed it by using a non-original powersupply. he charged it with 1,9A. Might be too much and fried some stuff...strange that everything else works.
im stuck in a RS Upgrade now that i cant finish. not enough power...
pretty expensive piece of trash.....
i hope someone out there has an idea
I took the XDA apart and measured the components while having USB Power connected....apparently there is a SMD part called FO, made of transparent material, could be a fuse. input on that part is 5V but there is no voltage on the other side...so it might be broken.
i wanna try to brigde it, but im not sure what excactly this FO part is.
its close to the power/data connector....
i would be thankful if someone could tell me what it is....
I bridged the FO with a lil wire....now the XDA charges again...
but i will keep looking for a new FO...want to do a proper job...
if anyone want pics, i made some of the part and the solution...
cheers folks, another problem solved

Excellent work!!!
The O in FO is really a zero: "Fuse zero". If you open it again, could you make a few pictures so we can all see where it is. This may help quite a few others who have a non-charging XDA... You shouldn't be too worried about it, and unless you can read the writing on the SMD part, you won't know the rating of the fuse to replace it with. Detailed photos might help someone here identify the proper fuse.
XDA Charge Fault
I too have the same fault. Can you show where exactly this FO fuse is on the board please? Thanks very much for your time.
Hello... thanks for the praise, but it was more a shot in the dark and i was just lucky. Fortunately i made some pics straight away. Unfortunately i hade trouble with the macro and the focus...but i guess i have some pretty nice shots.
Anyway...you can see where i soldered and what the part looks like.
Sorry for the bad soldering...but its just temporary
XDA Charging Fault
Thanks for those great pictures. I eventually found the F0 fuse you described. I put a multimeter over it and found there to be continuity!
My charger is of a USB type and kicks out 4.9volts. Do you think this is enough to charge the xda?
It is a Brando sync charger and was only cheap. I haven't got a 240volt charger cos i brought it off ebay.
Do you think that if i bridge the wire out like you have then maybe it might charge?
From the looks of your picture the F0 fuse looks ok (no broken link) this is why i ask!
Thanks for your time and well done!
I found that you have to make sure you measure minus on ground...otherwise it wont work...just pick one of the lil round ground points or the thick copper border surrounding the PCB and hold the minus of your multimeter on that.
you might see that the input of F0 has 4,7-4,9V, but the output has 0V.
if thats so you have to either replace or bridge F0. you can do that like i did...or you solder it out and just bridge the contacts.
My F0 has no broken link either...
The battery itself is a 3,7V battery type "35H10008-80"...i replaced mine with a 1800mAh which gives me 10,5h of PDA fun or 2 weeks standby...so you USB charger will do just fine...i myself charge it with USB....did the USB Cradle mod...but the charging over USB takes longer because the USB provides only 500mAh instead if the 1000mAh of the original charger....
as soon as i find out what F0 actually is (specs), i will post it...and of course replace mine...
i hope thats enough information....

Excellent pictures, and thanks for posting them.
The soldering job itself. Well... Ehm... How do I say... My estimate is that with your present skills the risk of future damage by not having a fuse there is smaller than the risks of further damage if you go in there again.
Soldering wires becomes way, way easier if you first tin the ends of the wire before trying to solder the wire to anything else. After tinning the ends, you can clip them with wire cutters so that they're only as long as you need them to be.
In this particular case, I would have tinned a tiny and much thinner piece of non-insulated wire, cut it to the length of the fuse, held it in place with something and quickly touched the ends with the soldering iron.
For jobs like this, if you have the luxury of a temperature-regulated soldering station, you may want to experiment how low you can set the temperature to still melt the particular type of solder used on a board, and use the smallest tip you have.
(No worries, I was absolutely lousy at soldering until I had a true electro-wizard as a roommate for a few years.)
Thanks for the advice...im really lousy, my old man is electronic engineer...he would kick my ass if he would see what i've done..lol
well...i guess i have to open it again and redo the whole process...but maybe i just wait til i get a new F0 and solder that in...i soldered some SMDs in the last weeks, so i hope i wont srew that up...
can someone tell me what this F0 is, and how can i find out what specs it has?
XDA Charging Fault
Thanks aquasesh for your help it looks like that's where my problem lies!
Cheers ,
MJ

[Q] Charging Port bugs

I have a issue where when i plug my charger in it doesnt do anything.. but if I bend the charger down it works fine. Do i need to bend the pin in the phone up with tweezers?
I read around where If you have this issue with the charging port then its gone. But my phone still charges fine. I dont want to go poking and bending and break something and it doesnt charge at all.
Just a little advice.
I have the rogers galaxy note I727r
Try a different cable first. They wear out and loosen quicker than the port. Do not go poking and bending or you will be replacing the usb component on the phone for sure.

i tried 5 different cables and one of which is the official samsung cable... no dice.
It sounds as if you need a charge port repair .....but
Before the device goes out .....try this ....
With a very small and flat object .....you can slightly bend the outer edge of the charge port on the side that does not contain the joining seam, or break in the port ...
The slight bend will tighten the cable tip, as it slides into the port, and create a better contact patch...
But be careful !!!......as you can damage the port if you get too aggressive ....
The bend occurs on the long flat side of the device port ...opposite the port seam ....g
P.S.....Proceed at your own risk ....but it worked perfect for me ...g
Just remember, your phone is under warranty. Might just be better to let them take care of it. But if you get brave here is the part:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Chargin...998?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item19d4f7ccbe
Not that difficult to get to either. There are a few videos on youtube for disassembly instructions.

i boughtit as a used phone.. is there a picture that you can show the outer edge?
If you contact Samsung instead of ATT your warranty should be honored still. But it would be cheaper to buy the board and fix it yourself then to pay for shipping to a samsung repair center unless you have one nearby. I have no better pictures of the usb port.
Nor do I .....
If you hold the phone while looking into the charge port ...( screen up )....
The part you slightly bend is the bottom of the charge port ...
Don't pry against the case ....just slightly bend the bottom portion up .....with a small tipped object ..
A dull knife tip works well .....g
Yeah.. two mornings ago, I woke up to a phone in it's dying throes of battery life.. having been on the charger all night.
It's been a little touchy with certain cords for the past month or so but now, it doesn't matter which of the many available charger cords I have, from brand new to the original - none of them make the phone thing to charge or connect it via USB to a computer.
It's dead Jim.

Very weird charging issue with my Samsung Galaxy S2

My Samsung Galaxy S2 has this problem.
A: I doesn't register the charge in the socket unless I wiggle it around or put pressure on a certain area. It's sensitive and it takes me a while to make it 'stick'.
b: It only charges to about 30% and then it stops charging.
I have tried numerous chargers and usb cables and always the same issue. I have replaced the battery and its the same problem.
Any help? I bought this damn thing on ebay a few weeks ago so I don't really know its history. The seller refuses to refund and I've opened a case.
Anyway that will all take a long time.
Any idea what the problem is and how to fix it?

Try Charging the battery externally using a battery charger, and not from inside the phone....I suppose it should get charged 100%...
If not then its battery problem...
If it does get charged then there might be a problem in the port or connection to the battery via inside the phone...get it checked at a samsung customer care...If you have warranty you might get it fixed for free...
I don't think there should be any problem with your kernel etc..
Press Thanx If I helped..
Try cleaning the micro USB port with a toothbrush or something similar
This type of issue is not weird and has been discussed on forum plenty of times.
Clean the battery contacts on battery and pins on device with alcohol (cleaning alcohol). If that doesnt work and you have changed charger/battery then your hardware is faulty so nobody here can help.

Hi is this the part that you would replace?
NEW GENUINE SAMSUNG S2 i9100 GALAXY INNER USB CHARGING PORT MIC FLEX PART
(CANT DO A LINK)
Apply some petrol on a toothbrush and try cleaning charging port... After some time try charging .. Iff still not working get the port replaced

if you need new charging port look on amazon or other type retailer i got one for £10 (uk).... then look on youtube for guide on how to fit part.. it looks tricky but its dead simple to do so long as you don't attack it like an ape.
Good luck..

[Q] Galaxy S3 (i9300) won't charge

So I got this strange problem where my phone stopped charging. I tried diffrent cables, adapters, charging it while being off, charging it via the computer and even tried to adjust the little lip in the micro usb port. Is the charging board dead? If it is, will a replacement be expensive?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA Free mobile app
Well dude I think your assumption is right.
It might be the charging circuit only which may be dead.
Because as you told that you have tried diffrent cabels and chargers but still your charging is not working which means that the usb micro port through which we charge and connect our phone to computer is damaged and should be replaced .
There are many possible reason of damaging usb port like you may have drop your phone or by using faulty cabels and chargers or if u have rooted your phone then there is possibility of changing the voltage of current to more than 1000 Mhz etc etc.
You should try to flashed a complete stock rom by downloading from sammobile or directly using kies to update or re-flash your phone
you can try that may it may help you.

You can try micro usb port which is available on ebay but it would be extremely very dangerous until and unless you know what you are doing.
My suggestion is to give your phone to the samsung care and tell then to repair it.
If your phone is in warranty then they will do it for free. You just need to provide them a copy of bill at the time you purchased s3.
Press THANKS if I helped you

LG G5 discovers usb without cable inserted

hi,
i am a proud g5 user who has now some troubles with his lg.
almost all 3 seconds my g5 discovers a usb wire conection and dismisses the messages after aproximate 1 second (sometimes later, and sometimes before) and this without a wire.
it happens after my mom sat on it and the usb port is now not as tight than before. i got a loose connection if i move the wire back, but that was it.
it wont charge corectly and get many disconects like the usb conection but inverted.
i opened the bottom module but the usb port is fine. there is some gloßy clear film on the pcb and the smal usb contacts. it havent a break, so i think its fine.
i was about to buy the hifi module but i want to ask bevore if the original module is the problem or if its something with the motherboard?
or if i can repair it by my self (reflashing ofw, the new bottom module etc)
if someone got a nice answer, please, answer asap o.o
thank you guys
and sorry about my crappy english, even in my mother language i am bad :X

Well. The only possible problem now is the bottom PCB piece that make contact to the module. If it's cracked/bent then you have to replace the whole motherboard.

lol I dont the one that was doing it is hard bricked from obviously failed test.
I checked it pretty good with a jewelers loop I thought it might be a crack from being put on and off so much but didnt see anything
I think it was in the firmware on mine once I downgraded to an older firmware it didnt do it
but i bricked it a day later it happend all the time and everyday though at least 5 times and hour

thanks for your replys, so you think its only the botton piece? i was about to change it with the hifi module. if i buy it its posible that the error disapears?
is it posible that the bottom pcb can shortcut (or so) so that the phone discharges faster?
it even wont fastcharg at all. even if the charge icon apears the phone doesnt load correctly...
forget to mention its the h850 (if i remember correctly)

You said that your mom sat on the phone. Like. On a sofa? Or a hard surface?
If the place your mom sat on the phone is soft like a bed or a sofa then probably the pressure has ben put on the end of the cable and the port itself. The type-c port has mini solders that connect to the pcb that breaks. So just try the Hifi plus module and test it out. If it's fast charging again then Replace the module only.
If the Hifi plus produce the same results (not fast charging/not charging correctly). If you are out of warranty coverage then you could try and take the phone apart and look for the PCB pieces at the bottom that connects to the module. If it's cracked/curved/bent then your motherboard has to be replaced. Hope that clears up for ya.

sadly i buyed it for 180€ and dont know if its worth it to put much more money in it. the motherboard conectors are all fine, the usb-port isnt tight as before now, so i thought the same and riped the bottom module apart. the conector looks just fine to me, thats why i wonder and why i am not sure if a repair is worth it. I thought to solder it anew but its to fine. the pcb is coated with some gloßy stuff, and i think even if i get a hotair solderstation i cant repair it.
yes my mom sat on it while it was on my couch, she even didnt feel that it was there.
the hifi module costs 75€ and the back cover isnt all that nice (many damages in the alluminium) so i want to replace that to if its worth.
i saw today that it doesnt detects usb from pc, it detects itself(?). it says that the otg is used and want to get charged, so it opens the menu to change the usb options. for me it looks like a shortcut but i cant explain how this can happen if its only the type c port. is type c that easy to destroy? easyer than microusb? (i ask because its my first type c device)
thanks for your held and advice

Just go to a store and try a different module.
And i dont recommend the Hifi plus module.
Sure. The headphone jack is down at the bottom and the quality is better if you have the equipment and GIGANTIC music files.
You are using a H850. Just unlock your bootloader and get Viper4android. Save your money, like buying 2 modules for spares if your mother decides to sit on the phone again
Pretty sure the type c is better for the future. I mean. If a micro usb device falls into the same situation as yours then i don't think that the port might survive or replaceable as easy as the G5

The G5 is the same as the HTC 10
I the type c port on both of them are fully COMPLIANT to the Type-C standards.
But the Voltage on the charging line overrides the Type-C standards of 5 volts, but HTC and LG modifies it so it can go up above 5 volts
Other wise comparing the transfer rate between the my HTC one m8 and my LG G5, the G5 is definitely faster

The G5 is the same as the HTC 10
I the type c port on both of them are fully COMPLIANT to the Type-C standards.
But the Voltage on the charging line overrides the Type-C standards of 5 volts, but HTC and LG modifies it so it can go up above 5 volts

Jeah, my g5 is feeling faster, but i can be wrong.
What i mean is, if it uses the 3.0/3.1 standart, or uses the port the same like the huawei p10 (it uses 2.0)
I know that androids are way slower than an regular usb stick, but there is a cpu betwen the memory, also no direct writing.
That the one m8 slower is is strange, and that keeps my questioning.
(Urgh sry for typos im reLy not the best in english and autocorrect annoys too)
EDIT:
compliant means fully asigned pins, am i right?
