I have a Sony Xperia AX1 Ultra, I want to use speech to text in messaging (not messenger). When i tap the microphone icon in messaging i get a message saying "could not record audio please try again later".
I have installed an app called speech to text and that works perfectly for Whatsapp but not messaging, why?
Is there somewhere i have to turn this on, i have looked but cannot find where if there is.

I'm looking at getting one of Sony's Bluetooth watches... I've seen the 150 music that I like, but was wondering does anyone have these with a G1? Do the two talk to each other??
Can I make use of the caller display, text message notification, call notification and call termination features of the phone???

SE MBW currently doesn't work with Android. The LM technologies watches/bracelets work, but for caller id only (I haven't tried if it displays the name or the number only).
As soon as Google releases Bluetooth API, I will start working on an application that will make all the watches fully compatible.

Does the watch work at all? If callerdisplay doesn't work, will it vibrate with calls and/or show the number? Can I terminate calls, or get a warning for texts or if you're out of range of the phone?

Sony Ericsson MBW - doesn't work at all (non standard connection)
LM Technologies watches - uses Headset profile so it works on every device - vibrates on incoming call and displays the phone number (or person's name if the device supports this feature). When there's an incoming call you can press a button to accept the call (no ignore call button). I haven't really tried that on Android but on most systems it doesn't work with text messages (only Sony Ericsson and maybe some others). Out of range notification works.

That's a shame... was looking to get the Music one... guess there's no point with a G1 then... :-(

Has anyone else had problems sending audio clips (from voice recorder) with Handcent?
After recording an audio clip with "Voice Recorder" I try to "share" it. I am given the option of gmail, mail, handcent, bluetooth, or messages. I have been able to send it with gmail, but when I select Handcent there is no attachment in the message I'm sending. The same thing happens with other "note taking" apps when I try to send an audio clip recorded with them as well.
The same thing happens with my wifes Droid and handcent.
I can't even attach a pre recorded file because handcent wont let me use a file picker.
If I go to the recording in Root Explorer and long press to share it, the same thing happens. A handcent message window pops up for me to write and send a message that has no attachment on it!
Any fix out there, or am I missing something?
how big are these files? try sending a smaller (shorter recording) to see if it work
I have tried as short as a 5K recording. The issue seems to be with Handcent not attaching the file when Handcent is opened with the "share" option.

i just observed that all the apps that require voice input are not working anymore properly on my samsung note gingerbread mobile.
skype - during echo test, i can't hear my voice back.
voice recorder - when i click on record button, recording starts n stops immediately
video camera - pops up recording failed message n closes
other sip app - i am able to hear the called peron's voice but he is not able to hear mine
The only place where it works as of now is the normal calls through mobile where i am able to have normal calls, rest all apps i tried involving
voice services doesn't seem to work.
i did not do any recent firmware upgrade or anything.
can anybody tell what might be the problem ...

I am running a non-rooted Moto Z Force. I have installed GBoard and would like to be able to use the voice to text option. However, when I click on the microphone the text to speech keyboard comes up but stops listening. Even if I hit the button in the middle of the keyboard I just get a quick beep and it never attempts to listen. I am however able to use the voice to text from my watch. Could there be some sort of conflict between my watch and phone? I have tried several different apps and get the same result. I have uninstalled and reinstalled GBoard multiple times.

Is you media volume on? Because some time a go my google voice also didn't work.
I didn't have a clue why it didn't worked till I discovered that I put my media volume to zero.....
Problem here after update 10, microphone extremely low on WhatsApp voice notes and voice recorder just on those apps and this weird notification appears every time an app use mic.

Is very frustrating. The mic sometimes works but mostly extreme low volume on WhatsApp voice notes and stock voice recorder app.

I used 1 of the modded WhatsApp and see the option.

DISABLE THE PROXIMITY SENSOR

when voice call other person, immediately raise the volume. u will see the call volume icon. hang up when finish.

Android 10 Low Mic Volume issue
I came across the WhatsApp giving problem in low mic volume.
Solution
TURN OFF "Hey Google" in Google typing INPUT SETTING.
DISABLE also the Google Assistant.
mine works wonder!
Until Google fix this problem... no way I'm going to use this buggy Google Assistant
