I would say we have same problem, touch screen is freezing for some times. Like you said, while playing games or even when doing some regular stuff
I had looked around for solution regarding this, changing rom to official and customs, or even did experiment with kernel related , but nope since the problem still exist till today!
Anyway, I will try to roll back to 9.6.4.0 as you may figured it out to solve your problem. Thanks buddy, I hope I can finally feel free from this freezing problem
Me too same issue. Did you try back to 9.6.4.0 ?

It's a hardware failure.
If a rom makes you see it less than its down to screen calibration in terms of brightness and color correction that hides the issue maybe a bit better. It won't fix the issue for sure.

Hi guys.
I have had my Redmi note 4 for just over a year now and about 2 weeks ago my phone was very hot on the top area of the screen. I downloaded simple System monitor and my cpu temp was around 80 degrees Celsius. I also noticed on the app it shows my phones was constantly spiking to 100% disk writing. So I did a hard reset and restored my phone from a backup and it was fine for about a week now its overheating again with the same disk writing issue. I also noticed in the last few weeks I have been getting a lot of dropped calls on either of the dual Sims no matter how good or bad my signal was.
Any assistance will be appreciated.

Which ROM are you using and which Apps are using most battery/CPU?
Maybe you should also install and run an antivirus app on your phone

I am running android version 6.0 and Miui 9.6
I have booted the phone in safe mode and it still overheats so it doesn't seem to be an app causing the issue. I also installed Avg and it didn't find any problems. The cpu usage is low when the problem occurs, the issue is that it has constant disk writing spikes which I assume is the main problem, but there is no way to see what it is writing.
Hi Sekzi, I am having the same issue as you are, in fact, I wasn't sure where to look for the problem tbh, after reading your post I checked and It is doing the exact same thing. I have the Mi Note 4 Redmi and I removed the SD card just in case, no change! Was about to look for a custom ROM to install but I would rather wait for Miui official 10 release hoping that would solve the issue. Please share any updates you might have, thanks!
I also have same issue pls someone fix this bro as fast as possible cause I can't play pubg until this will be fixed

Clean flash? If yes then combine with Franco kernel
Install greenify, Xposed framework modules like coolify, amplify
Sorry, snapdragon or mediatek processor?
Hi guys,
I just wanna ask if this is normal when it comes to sensor wakelock. I've been trying to identify the idle drain of my phone (Xiaomi Mi 8), and everything is fine except when it comes to these Google Play Services sensor wakelocks:
ICM20690
sns_smd
I've tried to research about this but came empty handed. I also disabled motion sensor for Google Play Services but the wakelock is still there.
Any ideas? Thank you
EDIT:
I've also tried flashing custom roms or kernel but the sensor wakelock is still there and my idle drain is still kinda bad. I just wanna if this normal. Thank you!
Morning!
So, I've been having horrible battery drain overnight and last night I found out that I could have the same issue as yourself.
I'm running a OnePlus 6 running OOS 10 stable, Google Play Services beta version. Last night I finally picked up that a wakelock caused by Google Play Services, in particular, using sensors (sns_smd) caused a lot of drain.
So far this morning, I've turned off 'pocket mode' in my settings, reverted to stable Google Play Services and cleared the app data for it too.
I'm not sure what else there could be to do to remedy the issue.
Did you manage to solve this for yourself?

I rolled back to Android 9 then have just recently upgraded to A10 again on 10.3.2 and the problem is no longer being seen.

I did read, I don't see the answer to my questions in the first post. What am I missing? I got it that you have Mi8.
I am just asking where did you find/what is 10.3.2 (is it last Xiaomi EU stable?) And how is battery drain overnight on it?

I found this thread after searching for solutions to the exact same problem I'm having on my OP6 since being on OOS10. I've upgraded to the latest OOS11 but the issue is still there. sns_smd is keeping my phone awake even though I've disabled pocket mode, disabled double-tap to wake etc etc. I'm just hoping that someone managed to figure out how to deal with this.

Happening to me as well... I don't think its a software issue, but rather a battery/ Electrical IC related issue... (try getting a new battery first)
