So I play a lot of PUBGM. For anyone who's not familiar with the game, you can switch weapons by tapping one of the two weapons from the bottom central part of the screen, in landscape mode.
While playing my first game today, I noticed that I can't switch weapons for some reason, no matter how many times I tap it. I even noticed my keyboard going haywire in landscape mode around the exact same position of the weapon switcher in PUBGM.
So I downloaded an app named Touchscreen Test which shows whether the screen is working properly or not with the help of White and Green dots (Green being good, white being bad).
This was the result: https://i.imgur.com/8Uqn2lp.png
I don't know whether what or how this happened, as my phone was working absolutely perfectly yesterday.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hey, I was just playing with my phone this morning and noticed a strange problem... The top part of my screen, just under the notification bar, does not respond when touched, if an app is running. For example, I cannot hit the location/search/layers button in gmaps, or the search button in market (this is only in portrait mode btw), but on the main screen, it responds just fine. This problem did not exist yesterday either, and I have already tried rebooting, and that did not fix it...
Might want to provide a bit more info if you want help.
I.e. What rom are you using, what kernel, any speedtweaks, etc.
Oops, sorry, it just seemed to fix itself randomly, but I am running CM7 1.2/MR2 radio, no other tweaks, just in case anyone else has the same issue in the future...

Im hoping it was just a fluke for you, but keep an eye on the issue, if it happens more it would sound like you could have a bad digitizer (its what controls the touch screen)
So it happened again today, not sure what set it off, but this time it wasn't just the top part of the screen. Phantom presses would happen, the notification bar would go halfway down and then pop right back up, the 4 buttons on the bottom wouldn't respond... I did a battery pull, and it seems to have fixed it for now, should I be contacting verizon to replace this one? It is a replacement of my original one (which bricked)...
I played many games that make use of "landscape" mode, that is the screen is rotated. Those games where the on-screen "joystick" on the bottom-left of the screen (landscape) OR top left (portrait) and "button" on the bottom-right (landscape) or bottom left (portrait), I notice that sometimes the screen did NOT register my touch.
When it happened, I lift up my thumb and press it or move the button again and nothing is registered. After about 2-5 seconds, THEN it register again.
I used to have the International Note and I never experiences this issue.
I tried pretty much ANY games or apps and the problem persists.
Anyone experiences this?
I've begun to have very odd screen tearing, I'll try to describe it the best I can, as I haven't been able to get a proper screenshot of it happening, and I hope someone can help me out
Almost all the time the bottom bar, where the nav buttons and notifications are, will "jump" up and down about 1-2 pixels. It didn't notice it much at first, but it's really starting to annoy me.
When I play music, play any kind of game, open the gallery, the left side of my screen (about 1-2 cm) will start flickering and tear the picture.
When in gallery and swiping from picture to picture, the flickering/tear will start, but when just looking at a picture (aka nothing moving on the screen), it will stop completely.
The left side flicker/tear covers all the way from the top to the bottom, including the nav "back" button. The home and recent apps aren't affected.
Most of the screen flicker/tear stops when I'm just on my homescreens, the only part still affected by it is the "back" nav button.
It never happens when i'm in the browser (i use ICS Browser+).
I've tried restarting the device many times, I've tried turning it off and letting it rest for 24 hours, turned it on and within 5min it started again.
I haven't tried factory reset yet, since I wanted to check if it was fixable without doing so.
I'm currently running "almost" stock .28 update, rooted (not unlocked), I edited the SystemUI.apk, the keyboard layout for the dock and the bootanimation.
I hope someone can help me out

PS: It isn't the old "recent apps" screen tear, it never affects recent apps.
You're experience what nearly everyone hear has experienced. Sometimes it'll fix itself, sometimes I have to reboot. So far, there's nothing you can do about it.
Upgraded to CM11, but had this on 10.2 as well. Back and home buttons are rendered inoperable depending on how NT is positioned (rotated). Really annoying and I know they aren't shorted because BACK works in one position but not the other, same issue with HOME. Anyone know of a fix?
Anybody?
you're talking about the onscreen buttons in android, right? i've never had any issues
that happen to me
I had that same problem when I change the dpi from 160 to 265 and that when it happen to me. It took me a day or two before I realized what causes It but when I change the dpi back to 160 my buttons started to work just as they did before.I hope this helps you with your fix.good luck
Well I don't know if it's your case, but this happened to me as well, and I found that I had dead zones in touchscreen exactly where on screen home and back buttons are, the only way I could use home and back buttons again was rotating the screen to upside down portrait (I could not pull down controls menu in this position since that part of screen was dead) or in landscape.
How I found out: download this app. from Google Play https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rn.yamtt, turn your tablet to landscape so on screen buttons will change positions. Open the app. and select paint tester and move your finger on the part of the screen where the on screen buttons wasn't working in portrait mode.
If you have dead zones like me, the app. won't paint the area where you are moving your finger because the touchscreen is dead in that area.
Also, my nook developed another problem after this, it won't charge, and when I plug the power cord, tablet crashes and reboots and stay in a bootloop unless I remove the cable. I'm 100% sure the cable and charger are ok, my nook suddenly started to show a lot of problems, I'll miss my nook =/
so what did you do to fix it?

Nothing since this has no fixes, part of the touchscreen is simply dead, unless a miracle happens, I even tried to restore stock nook rom, opened my tablet to check if there is a loose cable or something.
Is this happened to you in the same day you opened this thread? If your answer is yes, this sounds funny, because it's exactly the day when this small part on left bottom of the touchscreen died in my nook.
Also, somewhat my tablet started to charge again, but very slow, like USB charging, but I'm happy my nook returned to life.
No this happened many weeks before the thread. All of a sudden both home and back touches no longer worked in portrait position, but DO work in Landscape. Annoying.

Did you made the check I mentioned before? Does the back and home buttons works if put your tablet in upside down position so portrait mode will move soft buttons to the top edge?
Yes - all three DO work when I flip it upside down in portrait. Is this my workaround?

Unfortunately, you have the same problem as me - dead zone in touchscreen. Flip the tablet upside down in portrait or use in landscape are the only workaround afaik. I thought in moving the on screen buttons more to the right in a zone where the touchscreen is working, but I didn't find a way to do this, I managed to move them a little bit by adding more buttons in the bar in system settings, but the back button would still stay in the dead zone, them I switched home and back buttons positions (so home stays in the dead zone) since you can still use the tablet N button to use home function.
Standard global firmware. Poco launcher, default icons, not unlocked or rooted.
When I use an app in landscape mode (and ONLY then) the device often doesn't react to touches anymore. Most frequent example: YouTube, I'm watching something and want to pause it, it suddenly doesn't react any more. Swiping down or left from the edges (show notification bar or nav buttons) still works though, so the screen didn't freeze completely, it's weirdly selective about certain areas. As soon as I switch to portait (gyro) it works without any issues. Lockscreen also works. Same thing happened to me in the game Plague Inc, some areas on the screen didn't react for minutes, but I was still able to quit the game via pause button in the corner - the menu of the game had no issues either. As I said, never happened in portrait in the settings, Chrome or on my homescreen/Poco-launcher.
It's a pretty bizarre issue and I don't think it's hardware related, far too selective for that. Any solutions? Or should I just wait for an official update?

Imo you are touching display with your Palm accidentally in landscape. Try pay attention to this. (Was happening to me too)

Darn, I payed attention to it and I indeed constantly touch the NOTCH. That thing is not a feature, it's a burden to be honest. I can't hold it comfortably and I can't see my notification without actively pulling the bar down. I wish I could just turn it off.
