There are some issue with Facebook when using in landscape mode for M5 pro.
Example
Pic1 : Comments are not shown when using in landscape mode.
Pic2 : Tap on the post and there are 40 comments
Pic3 : Rotate to portrait and is shows those comments (the orientation looks weird)
Pic4 : Rotate back to landscape and finally shows those comments
Means I need to rotate to portrait once for every post when I need to read the comments or use the tab in portrait when use FB which is not M5 pro design.

I noticed this problem with the 8.4 version too. I suspect it could be due to the fact that the tablet is confused to if it is a phone or a tablet. The workaround is go to Settings and play around with View Mode until it displays in a way that you are happy with.

It could also be the QHD screen that is causing problem with the way that FB app draws elements in the wrong size. However I do not have this problem with my Axon 7 phone which also is a QHD screen.

Android layouts can work on the basis of DPI, so resolution AND aspect ratio come into play - not just resolution. Does your Axon 7 have the same 16:9 (or is it 16:10?) ratio as the M5, in landscape mode?

Good point.
However the problem by OP is more towards incorrect rendering of the elements in the app, the main news feed on the left is too narrow while suggested friends on the right is too wide. I am not saying it is totally the fault of the tablet, it could be the fault of the app. However it cannot be discounted that the tablet itself is confused if it is a phone or not, which may not may not lead to problems in the app as well.

True, maybe its will identified itself as a trans later...
I have the same issue. I always have it with facebbok.
Other apps start just in landscape other shows even funny behavoiur. If you have time install the app Androidiani (the app of one Italian Android forum/blog) : i never see something worst.
The same apps work perfectly in all my other devices

I believe every tablet have ui problems for FB apps especially the landscape mode and fb doesn't seem to care.
In addition, the PAGE page cannot be viewed in landscape orientation but it would forced rotated to portrait
Complain to fb and hope that they will fix it.
But I don't think they ever will..

Hello All,
So I am running CM 7.0.3 and have the netflix app running through a friend whom gave me a special APK. When I load the application all of the pictures appear on the screen and I can load video and playback is great (even without the hardware acceleration, though the tablet gets a touch warm). The problem is the information such as names, length and short description do not appear. The application itself actually only appears in portait mode with the soft keys at the top.
I was hoping to find out if this is a restriction set by the CM system and if its modifiable. My Engadget, Joystick and a few other news apps act the same way and it would be fantastic to get it into landscape mode. I am also hoping that getting this into landscape may fix the issue with the netflix text display issues. Otherwise thankfully I can usually tell what I am watching from the picture, but I'm a bit of a perfectionist.
Anyhow, If anyone knows if there's a way to change this please let me know and I would love to try it out.
Thanks!
Miles

Hi,
Several apps I have tried (maybe ~10% of them) only have portrait mode. This is a problem if you have a TV you can't rotate.
I wonder if anyone has any ideas of how to write, say, a background service that detects if it's displaying in portrait mode, and then shrinks the screen view and flips it 90degrees (so essentially you have a portrait screen that is now the correct way up, with black screen on either side). You can't tell it to display in true landscape because that's hard-coded into the app, so it is better to just rotate the portrait display. However this is a hard thing to do as the screen display is very low-level... but does anyone have any ideas of how to accomplish that?
I've done some searching, but of course Android has never really faced this problem before. Android has either been on a rotatable mobile device, or it's been on a GoogleTV where everything is landscape...
If so, that would open up more apps for Q-compatibility...
I know the 'intended' way of holding the device is primarily in landscape, but more often than not, I find myself holding the device tallways, in portrait. It's great for browsing and upscaled apps actually feel quite good. Anyone else on the same boat?

I find myself using portrait about the same amount as landscape.
On my Nexus 7, I liked Portrait more then Landscape for non-gaming related matters. Not quite so on my Nexus 10 though... the extra weight isn't too nice, and it even seems to slide in my hands a bit.
I would prefer the buttons to stay where they are in portrait mode permanently, as that's what I'm used to on my s2
I've only had it a few hours and landscape seems to be winning out atm
I use portrait for Web pages, and magazines and documents and most apps
Landscape for games and videos

Landscape everything here, portrait just feels to cramped to me

Agreed!
Does it feel too heavy and uncomfortable in portrait?
For me, portrait mode feels better for internet browsing, magazine reading and news reading than landscape. You just see more browsing in portrait than in landscape (although it is typically smaller).
I use portrait sometimes when browsing the web. Some websites just don't work properly in landscape (scale to fit width and I can't zoom out)
Pretty mixed varying on site or app that I'm using. I prefer typing in portrait.
I use landscape exclusively unless I'm browsing the web, in which case I feel like portrait definitely allows me to see more of the websites I'm on. Also when I'm reading in the kindle app I'll go portrait.

Landscape everything except ebooks and magazines for me. Web browsing is a zillion times better in landscape IMO.
I use mine in potrait 99% of the time. I find that with the high resolution, potrait works better and allows me to see more of the web page, and I surf / read 99% of the time.
Landscape just seem too cramp these days.

Not if you're holding it right
Nexus 7 is better in portrait unless your gaming... Nexus 10 isn't too comfortable in portrait for me.
Always landscape but I read comics in portrait mode.
I like it but the volume buttons are backwards when you're in portrait.

90% of my use is in portrait as a browser, email, google voice ect. 10% is landscape for youtube or games.
PS. I <3 my N10.
I like portrait mode for websites but when I scroll really fast there's a wave effect. Because of this i view almost everything in landscape. Is it just me or do you guys and gal see that too?
Go to a website in portrait and use your thumb to scroll up and down in the same spot really quick. Do you see it? The slight wave effect?
Edit: found info on this effect.

After doing a quick google, it seems common with higher resolution displays. I wonder if the GPU could be tweaked to fix this....
Hi,
Got my 20 Pro on Friday and so far I'm relatively pleased with it. There seem to be a few teething issues.
In-screen fingerprint scanner
- Doesn't work 100% of the time for me. More like 70% of the time.
- I find it less usefull than one on the rear. With a scanner on the rear you can use it to pull down the notifications whatever screen you might be in. ie I can be in the Browser and still pull the nitifications down with a swipe. I haven't found a way of doing that on the 20 Pro without coming out of the active app?
Some apps are not working?
- Just crashes straight away?
Gesture navigation
- coming from a Xiaomi it is clear where Huawei took their inspiration from. But it simply does not work as smoothly. Flicking up form the bottom should just take you home with a flicker of the previous apps coming up. Just a little thing but hey!
EMUI Desktop question
I also have a Mat 10 Pro on which I use the Desktop application extensively and it works very well. However with the 20 Pro the displayed resolution is much lower, as if it reduced from wqhd to hd? Is there a way around this? It is actually making it pretty useless.
Apps:
Are you talking about native apps? As they should have been thorough benchmarked against Pie 9.0 before being released on a phone. If its apps from Nougat or Oreo, then there's a possibility those apps require updates for suitability on the new OS.
Fingerprint:
Are you using the same pressure for each tap? Have you tried unregistered and re-registering your finger print again (touch different areas of your finger around the sensor area)?
EMUI Desktop:
Can you explain what is wrong with the resolution of FHD using desktop EMUI? Lower res (at least not under 720p HD) is good to prolong battery life...what sort of work are you doing (do you really need 2K resolutions? How did you find battery life with full res quality on M10P?

Hi, thanks for your answer.
You might well be right about the apps, some of them probably need updating to Pie. However, I'm having an issue connecting Android Wear notifications. There is a Wear Alert saying saying it needs aces to Notifications, which it has. When I click on the the link Wear just closes down. All the settings are correct and the watch (Huawei W1) is paired. So that's...annoying
I have deleted the fingerprints and re-registered them, it might be about 80% successful now. But it is more the loss of functionality which is a shame. A physical fingerprint sensor can be used to swipe down notifications much more easily. But hey ho.
The desktop just looks really zoomed in on the m20p compared to the m10p. Is there a way of zooming out? Unusable otherwise.
I think I might sell the m20p and get the Mi Mix 3, it has a physical fingerprint sensor, gestures work seamlessly for all launchers including Nova (really don't like the Chinese UI's - EMUI, MIUI etc...) and it has no notch.
Wait for build 122 if you aren't already on it. Widely discussed in multiple threads here...might fix one or more of your problems RE: wear/apps and the consistency of fingerprint. Cannot help you with Desktop function just yet.

I can't get desktop mode to work. Is it a specific cable I need? I use a USB-C to HDMI that works fine with my Note 9, but nothing at all happens.
Also, is there a way to use Wireless Projection to a Chromecast? Or any other tips on how this works...

I think it's a DPI not a resolution difference. Yes, I also find the lower DPI (larger fonts and elements) annoying. EMUI Desktop needs to have customization options.

The front fingerprint reader works 99% of the time for me. I find you simply have to press harder on it than a standard finger print reader. The pulling down the notification shade with the scanner is probably one of the least used features on any phone to be honest "shrug". Back readers are just so clumsy. Using my note now is like going back to the 80's in back to the future haha.
Flicking up with gestures on standard launcher works perfectly. It is the non standard launchers that will require updating.
As for the desktop mode, it's most likely down to your TV or a required update on the Mate. Also make sure you have the resolution on the phone set manually to the resolution you want.

Hmm, each to their own views on useful functionality. Personally, I find the ability to pull notifications down whilst using the phone, holding it with one hand and not having to close any apps useful. More so with the m20p since there is already an unlocking mechanism on the front.
No doubt it is non standard launchers causing the issue with gestures, but I can only say that they work perfectly on Xiaomi devices and Nova.
The irritation with the desktop is that the m10p displays fine on the same monitor. Some kind of dpi issue.

Samsung DEX is way better than either the m20p or m10p in terms of desktop environment on a smartphone. Checkout the various options for the screen resolution for the desktop on Samsung DEX.
has anyone managed to fix the resolution issue with desktop mode yet?
This is one of the main reasons I bought the mate 20 x and if the resolution isn't going to be fixed then I might be going to samsung unfortunately
I just came across this "bug" as described here:
Unable to resize the magnification window
The magnification tool was useful. Now the size of the magnification window is no longer adjustable. You can't even stretch it to the width of the phone screen. Can a supervisor please look before approving these changes? Cover image...

"the magnifier widget is only full screen in HD+ and FHD+ screen resolutions. It will not work full screen in WQHD+ resolution."
Is there anyone else that can reproduce this? And in fact, it's really only fullscreen in HD+ resolution.
Testing it on my S21 Ultra, it works fine by default in fullscreen with all screen resolutions.
I just tested it and it does not full screen on WQHD+

Thanks, and to clarify, can you confirm it's more like half the screen only? Although it's centered in middle of screen.
This surely is a significant bug, and it's surprising no one has reported it aside from that above post.

Yes, it gets to almost fullscreen with FHD+, but it only gets proper fullscreen with HD+ resolution. Quite bizarre.
Unfortunately not fixed with the April update. Quite bizarre how few reports of this there are (I've only seen one actually). There are even some YouTube videos showing this Magnifier widget and the issue is there, but the reviewer doesn't even mention the issue.
Update regarding this - finally with the June update, this is fixed. Amazing how essentially zero reports on this from English sites/forums etc.
