I would like to do a factory reset on my STF-L09 without locking my bootloader.
Is this possible, and if so how?
I'm on Oreo 8.0 EMUI (update to 368 with HuRUpdater), TWRP installed, Magisk 17.0 installed and using Proto8 kernel.
These things I would like to continue with after a factory reset.

Hi!
I recently installed lineageOS 14 over stock 6.0, since everyone praised it. However, it randomly rebooted in my pocket during the day hourly, so I decided to go back to stock.
But it neither boots with stock based rom, nor on a freshly installed stock with flashtool. It stucks at the bootanimation for hours, and doesn't reboot like it does in similar situations.
What the hell is that, could anyone help me?
(Btw my Z1C has the same problem)
I also installed Lineage OS, but after having a problems with keyboard i revert to stock with flash tool ver 0.9.18.6. I accidentally installed 5.1.1 uk version then after reboot i download new 6.0.1 ver and installed it over. Phone is working ok, no reboots. Maybe you should try to install again stock rom or change the flash tool version
Wipe APPS_LOG and USERDATA is mandatory when rolling back to previous Android versions, maybe you have missed that part?

Last time I think it did work without wiping userdata, so I didn't check those to wipe, however, to make sure I did a factory reset before from recovery. But I guess apps_log is not erased with a factory reset?
Anyway, thank you very much, I will try again this way.
Ps. It might be the cause that it still didn't boot when I tried a different rom with flashtool.
Update: Thank you, that did the trick, successfully booted!
Here's my custom xTreme rom in the making for T-Mobile's 8" LG G Pad X.
Features:
**Debloated of most T-Mobile and Google Apps.
**Rooted thanks to Chainfire's SuperSU.
**XTREMEMusic Sound Mod thanks to androidexpert35.
**Quickboot from PlayStore
**Adaway thanks to the original dev
Must be at least 20f/g with TWRP to flash this.
To get TWRP go here: (Kdz to 20f if on 20g)

Do NOT wipe system or you might get stuck in twrp bootloop.
Includes new 20H modem.

Flashed this just after following jdub01984's guide to update to 7.0, but ended up with a bootloop (not a twrp bootloop). Had to hard reset to force factory recovery. The build was at 20f before I installed, and I most definitely did not format system, just booted twrp, backed up, installed the rom, wiped cache, and rebooted. Install glitch? Should I try again? Was starting to panic when no combination of key presses seemed to interrupt the loop or cause a power down, then I found the hard reset sequence which got me back to twrp so I could restore (I'm using twrp 3.0.2 v2).

Sounds like a bad flash or download.

Yup, was a bad flash. Repeated the same procedure and it worked! Thanks! :good:
@micromod 777 What are the chances of you updating this rom to the latest firmware? Has been my go to since you released it.:good:

I am on Oreo 8.0 EMUI 368 with bootloader unlocked (updated using HuRUpdater), TWRP installed, Magisk 17.0 installed and using Proto8 kernel.
All these features I would like to be installed again after a factory update.
You can perform a factory reset restoring factory settings on the phone settings, or entering recovery and formatting user data. Your bootloader will remain unlocked and Root/kernel should also remain.

Thanks, didn't think it could be that easy ?
Is anyone having similar problems. I have flashed an open kirin rom. After that I haven't been able to factory reset the phone using the stock recovery and it keeps looping. The factory reset option seems to be blurred out and I can't access it
What should I do in this scenario ?
TIA
Do you have flashed recovery_ramsdisk with Magisk?
In that case, you may have to restore the stock recovery
When I trieed, I noitced that eRecovery boots Recovery to factory reset and wipe. Which was not possible with the falshed magisk....
Good luck,
Peter
I've had my Redmi Note 5 in storage for a couple of years and want to resurrect it with factory reset original settings; in essence, a clean wipe/restore to when I first got the phone. TWRP is apparently installed and when I try to factory reset from within MIUI and the phone itself I get bounced to TWRP recovery. It's been a few years since I installed TWRP recovery and rooted my phone so I've forgotten a lot. I just want a simple factory reset of MIUI and my phone with all previous apps I've installed gone and data wiped and have the the ability to do OTA updates so I can update to the latest stable MIUI. What's the simplest way to do this?
