I don't recall this being an issue when I first got my Nexus 9 Wifi, but perhaps it occurred as a result of updates to Lollipop since the original 5.0 release. Anyway, here's the problem:
My Nexus 9 is unable to detect its location while location is set to 'battery saving mode'...using only wifi and cellular but NOT GPS. My HTC One M8 GPE functions perfectly in this settings.
My Nexus 9 IS able to detect its location if I change the location setting to 'high accuracy mode'...using all of the above in addition to GPS.
I thought that perhaps this was happening because the Nex9 doesn't have cellular but my old Nex7 is wifi only and functions perfectly in battery savings mode.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Might it be an issue with the latest release of Android 5.0.1 that my Nex 9 is running?

Same issue here. I do not know since when this became a problem.
Location is working only on high accuracy mode.
Very frustrated issue. I have Mi Band bracelet with enabled unlock and notifications features. For half a day all good - unlock and notifications working. After couple of hours, unlock icon in status bar is become gray, and these features stop working. Mi Fit app can't find band. Only one solution - force disable/enable bluetooth manually. After that - all good for next hours, and later all over again.

Have the same problem:crying:
I did a full wipe and reflashed the xiaomi.eu weekly rom. So far this seems to have fixed my Bluetooth issue

It work for now?
It's not perfect, but is working much better ☺

Hi, same issue here.
Bluetooth is very patchy and I was previously on the SMIUI ROM, now flashed to CM 12.1 and the bluetooth bug is still there.
I wonder if it's a hardware issue?
It is not a hardware issue. It is a ROM issue. Some ROMs (e.g.. MR-7.2.3.0) don't have this problem.
I'm also having this problem (but with my Pebble Time) I've understood a baseband update does not help. Or do people here have other experiences?
I see doing a full wipe of the Xiamoi.eu rom. Does this solve the problem?
Thanks for your help
No solutions for now. Developers know about it, but no fix for miui 7. Maybe for miui 8 in next month.
I have just got a new Redmi note 4. Trying to test basic functionalities. Using Miui for the first time.
Currently there is some problem in my wifi connection. Happens sometimes from isp end.
In stock or lineage the wifi symbol clearly shows an excalamation mark or a small cross mark on/beside the wifi symbol which suggests "connected but no internet access" which is correct and gives me a clear indication that connectivity is down now. See attached screenshot.
But on RN4 on MiUI, I don't see any such symbol. The wifi symbol simply shows as connected but obviously there is no connectivity now so it is confusing. Is it how miui is or is there some setting which will enable such feature.
This in my opinion is a very basic feature and miui seems to be missing it!!
Posting from moto g so cant share the miui screenshot but it shows simply connected on rn4
In the wifi menu also, moto g is clearly showing "connected, no internet" but RN4 is simply showing connected
Very disappointed so far. Both speaker and headphone music output of my moto g 1st gen is far far better than redmi note 4. No quality in RN4. Hyped device!!
I got Mi-Globe rom with Dolby Atmos installed and I think it's very nice sound quality with that. Maybe try that?
Try the Mi-Globe ROM with Viper and Dolby. It's the deodexed and debloated version of MIUI tuned to near perfection. You can find these tuning options in the expert sections of the download page.
Any idea on my main query in the opening post?
bump !! anyone on the wifi symbol issue mentioned in OP?

You are correct, hadn't thought about it before.
Failover from wifi to mobil data is not working.
This is the same on my Redmi Note 4 3/32 sd global version running MIUI 9 Global beta, and on my Mi Max running MIUI 8 Global Stable.
So this is a basic fault/bug in MIUI, should be reported. How one does that, no idea just now . . .
So we are in MiUI 9 and since 9 generations of this OS (or whatever) noone has noticed, reported or fixed this bug? I don't believe it.
This is just a small example why heavily bloated skins line MiUI are not good. This is such a basic feature and I can't imagine myself living with MiUI as my daily driver.
There are tons of custom roms for Redmi Note 4 but still all have some bugs (Volte signal fluctuation, low volume on speaker etc)
Sold the recently bought RN4 on OLX. Not satisfied with overall quality.
Also, speaker grill position and touch capacitive buttons placement was not comfortable to me.
Holding in one hand, the thumb can't reach the capacitive button on other end.
Also, the hand often covers the speaker grill.
One can simply reproduce / test the defect mention in OP by disconnecting LAN cable from Wifi Router and having the phone connected to that wifi network.
This functionality is missing yet from MIUI.

This is not a big issue in RN4 SD but yes, this feature is still missing from MIUI. Whenever you will connect with your Wi-Fi then the wifi symbol will appear but it will not show any symbol for no internet connection. Even the roaming symbol does not appear in my own RN4 SD. I hope that this will be fixed soon by MIUI developer team. If no internet connection symbol is a must have thing in your device then i suggest you to flash lineage os or any other custom ROM. But be careful. download custom ROM only from official sources. Custom ROM from unofficial sources may effect your phone performance and your privacy.
This is not a big problem for me, just a little irritating.
I did a bug report on it, we shall see.
China is on holiday.
I do get the roaming symbol, no problem there.
VoLTE works in my Mi Max with Telia in Sweden, began working this fall after Telia implemented it.
I only have a prepaid sim card in the Redmi Note 4, so Telia does not give it VoLTE.
Generally I'm quite happy with MIUI and the Xiaomii phones.
Hi all
I have had my tab s6 for less than a day now and keep getting an issue where the wifi drops out and will not turn back on the only way to get it to turn on again is to restart the device it has happened 4 times and I have only had the tablet for just under a day.
Does anyone else have this issue and I'd do is there a known fix (have seen this reported by other forum users)
I posted in the WiFi section but I'll add here too. I'm getting the same thing multiple times a day. WiFi quits working. If you toggle it off in the settings it will not toggle back on. Restarting the tablet fixes it for a while.
No issues here. Works perfect (but comparing to my Kindle Fire HD10)

one thing i have noticed is it is only happening on some networks it does not appear to be happeing when i am at work but does at home however dont think its my wifi as multiple people are repoerting the same issue on the samsung website reddit and here.
Same here, no issues so far at work, but happening regularly at home. I wonder if it is a specific brand of WiFi router or a feature like mimo that is causing the tablet's WiFi to crash.
I'm using Netgear Orbi's at home with all the advance features on.
Happens a lot to me, I'm using Ubiquiti mesh access points. I wonder if it's related to mesh networks specifically.
Happens to me as well. From time to time, Wifi hangs/crashes on the Tab S6 on my Netgear Orbi mesh network at home. Reboot required.
I suspect it is some feature that is causing the WiFi crashes. I may try turning router features off to see if it makes a difference. For now it is just annoying but easy to reboot. I'm hoping the next firmware update resolves it. I'd expect there to be a bug fix one coming within a month or two after release.
Same issue
OK so at least it isn't me. I'm having the same issue. I'm on Google wifi. Sounds from the commenters that everyone is on a mesh wifi. Could that be the problem. Has anyone contacted Samsung about this already?

Not sure if mine is mesh or not I'm on talk talk in the UK but only have 1 access point however my hub does swap between 5 and 2.4 ghz so that could be causing it for me. And there is a thread on samsung community US and EU about the issue. If you just Google tab s6 wifi issue it comes up.
Possible work around

Good to know it's on those forums also (sorry but the more people experiencing the bug the more likely it gets fixed).
I did not have any issues with Wi-Fi until I stalled Blokada adblocker's latest Version. I re instalked the previous version and I have no issues again.
Whilst I'm not using a mesh WiFi at home I do have a router that swaps between bands. I'm thinking that this could be the cause but I don't have the issue at work (Meraki)

i have seen reports of it happening on both
the main thread seems to be on the samsung forum here
https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/Tablets/Gal axy-Tab-S6-Wifi-Issue/td-p/832800
i have also posted a review on the samsung main website highlighting the bug to samsung and this is the response i got.
i would suggest we all go and write a review on there website as this would help to highlight the issue as widespread and hopefully they will fix the issue faster.
I have the same problem which happened on my home router when I went to another room and my other devices auto change from 5g to 2g the Tab 6 would not connect and when I returned to the first room it would not connect to the 5g network. Had to reboot. Where

On your Orbi, what advanced WiFi features do you have on or off? (Beam Forming, MU-MiMo, Fast Roaming) I have them all on and am seeing the issue only while at home on the Orbi WiFi. I'm wondering if one of those are causing the WiFi crashes.

I've got my Mi 10 couple of days ago. I have noticed major issues with WiFi 5GHz. After a fresh reboot it can find 5GHz networks. Then after an hour or so once it goes into a deep sleep for some time, all 5GHz networks simply disappear and it falls back to 2.4GHz only. After that apps like WiFi Analyzer can't detect any 5GHz networks also and show notifications like "Your device might not support 5GHz mode". Rebooting the device helps for some time until it happens again.
Is it a known issue? It seems like a software issue to me, but there is a chance it's some kind of hardware problem.

I have just found similar issue on Mi community website: https://c.mi.com/thread-3020207-1-0.html
A lot people in Spain telegram group have similar issue.
In my telephone the temporal solution is deactivate wifi and push clean option in the recent app screen. Then reactivate wifi and all run OK.

Thanks! This is a good workaround, for now, that does not require restarting the phone. I hope they'll fix this bug soon-ish.
I just got my new MI 10 Pro yesterday at my hand intact and already faced this issue twice which is frightening as this is not a cheap phone. Is this a software or hardware issue?
