Location not found when using 'battery saver mode' - Nexus 9 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I don't recall this being an issue when I first got my Nexus 9 Wifi, but perhaps it occurred as a result of updates to Lollipop since the original 5.0 release. Anyway, here's the problem:
My Nexus 9 is unable to detect its location while location is set to 'battery saving mode'...using only wifi and cellular but NOT GPS. My HTC One M8 GPE functions perfectly in this settings.
My Nexus 9 IS able to detect its location if I change the location setting to 'high accuracy mode'...using all of the above in addition to GPS.
I thought that perhaps this was happening because the Nex9 doesn't have cellular but my old Nex7 is wifi only and functions perfectly in battery savings mode.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Might it be an issue with the latest release of Android 5.0.1 that my Nex 9 is running?

Same issue here. I do not know since when this became a problem.
Location is working only on high accuracy mode.

[Q] Wifi based location used in Gmaps not used in apps

Hi there,
i don't know if this question is device specific.
Android uses wifi networks to determine my location. It is fast and accurate enough for most cases. Thats why i turn off GPS completely, since it uses battery and is slow or not available in buildings.
Today i wasn't able to use this way to determine my location within foursquare app. I switched over to Google Maps and it showed my exact location with a very tiny blue point (perfect!). I then went back to foursquare app again and it still showed the last location where i disabled GPS. I went over to Whatsapp to make sure it's not foursquares fault, but the same issue.
I'm coming from Android 2.2 (Motorola Defy) so maybe i missed something. My assumption was that when Gmaps has my exact location (even via wifi) it provides it to all apps. Is there a setting/flag/whatever which prevents this?
I have no clue what is going wrong.
Update: The behaviour disappeared after i rebooted the device. It remains a fragile impression...
cheers, rokr
PS: I searched the web and this forum but didn't find a similar topic. Please point me to it.
It may be due to a glitch that only allows the app to display location data only when the location service is on, even WiFi is on at the same time

[Q] NFC not working after profile switch

I'm not sure how wide spread this issue is but it seems like an operating system issue. I'm using Jellybean 4.3 on my nexus 4 with a customer rom crDroid. I have another nexus 4 with stock rom and not rooted and a nexus 7.
My tablet has 2 profiles on it. My wifes and mine. If I log into myself and try to transfer via nfc from my nexus 4 phone to the tablet it works great. But then when I switch to my wifes profile I can't transfer anything. It comes up with the notification to click to beam. But it doesn't allow me to beam anything. I have to restart the tablet and log in as my wifes account first to be able to nfc to her profile.
I'm thinking this is an glitch with android 4.3 Can anyone confirm this issue and whether it is a an operating system glitch or maybe just a nexus glitch.

Same old gps problem, consideration

Had problem with gps, trying to fix it I changed rom, flashing SlimKat, but choose wrong gapp. So basically I couldn't use google services, but I tried GPS anyway: TTFF 20sec. Cool, it works! So I flashed again rom and correct gapp. Tried again GPS: no way to get a fix, 2 sats after 10min. Somewhere I red about an issue with Galaxy Nexus gps, solved disabling Google location retrieving through wifi/mobile network. So I switched Location Mode from High accuracy to Device only. Fix in 22sec and 9 sats in view. (see attachment)
Please share your consideration about it
note: this behaviour is independent from gps.conf/sirfgps.conf content

I have also tried switching forth and back from GPS only and High accuracy mode. For me it sometimes had an effect, but I'd say that it was purely by chance. After trying out many different modems and apps like FasterFix, I found that changing the GPS.conf worked for me: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2/help/gps-galaxy-s2-i9100-cm11-m7-t2808214#post56014923

Weird GPS Issue

Hey All,
Not sure if ROM makes a difference (I'm on resurrection remix). I suppose it could, but thought I'd ask here to shed some light.
Very odd GPS behavior. I have GPS on 24/7. When I load up any GPS program (GPS Analyzer, Waze, Maps) It tries to grab a GPS location, but absolutely no luck. No indicators in GPS Analyzer either of any GPS catches.
After I toggle GPS once in settings, it works perfectly and flawlessly. Any Ideas?
I'm on 6.0.1

I get the same behavior intermittently on crDroid 6.0.1. I have not figured out how to trigger the loss of GPS, so haven't been able to get a log.

Interesting. I've narrowed it down slightly more. Tested this on mine, if you'd like to test on yours (to see if we're having exact same problem)
It may only occur after a reboot, now that I think about it.
To reproduce)
GPS is in High Accuracy Mode and works fine.
Reboot Phone
GPS is in High Accuracy Mode. Does not work at all.
Cycle GPS in and out of High Accuracy Mode. It now works again.
I will see if it works when I go home later without rebooting my phone or GPS cycling

tested this a little today - tried several reboots, and could not reproduce the issue. now that I'm thinking about it, I can't specifically recall having a GPS failure since I've been on the newest squid2 kernel.

Poor gps after root, flash and stock rom

I just noticed this with my note 3 magma note 8 rom and checked with another old phone (galaxy s2) which I have installed cm then installed stock touchwiz back. The GPS cannot lock on to the phone even with GPS apps, clear agps and downloading satellite data. It can see the satellites, but not lock on. For normal use like giving general location, it is fine. But when you navigate with waze or Google maps, it only shows an approximate location. Or do old phones are removed from GPS tracking system to make way for newer devices?
Anyone else noticed this before?
Ask the developer of the rom or check his thread if anyone else is facing the same issue.
