I bought a Samsung Galaxy S III while on vacation. I didn't really want a US model, since I already had a Galaxy S II and the only compelling reason I would upgrade was for the quad core Exynos.
Well here I am back States-side, and it's been working fine for a week or two. Last night I suddenly lost the ability to connect to WiFi networks.
Basically I can search for a connection, it will show up and say it's "Saved," but it will not connect, even if I manually choose the option. If I choose "Forget" and reconnect, it will connect briefly for a few seconds and promptly disconnect again.
I've tried the usual steps of rebooting, checking my network, etc. I've gone as far as reflashing the firmware which doesn't seem to fix my issue.
I have several other devices and none of those have issues connecting to my wireless network. I've tried a couple different AP products, including an Apple Airport Extreme, a Linksys WRT-600N, and a bunch of really old APs with a different chipset manufacturers, none which seem to work.
For OS, it's currently on Android 4.0.4 with the stock Samsung TouchWiz interface, no carrier customization.
Since returning/warranty for this device is out of the question, I am looking for a possible solution to my issue. I am not a big Android user. I used to be big on Symbian, and now I'm mainly an iPhone user. I have an Android phone to keep up with the times, so to speak. Is it possible I'm missing something? Could I have changed a setting that would cause my wireless issues?
Thanks!
(Tried searching this topic, didn't turn anything up)
I'm having the same problem too. Everything connects except for the S3. If I reboot the router it works for a day or so then the problem re occurs.
If you get disconnected meaning there's interference in the frequency range, you could change the channel so it doesn't overlap with your neighbors' or your other APs, remember any AP operating on the same channel or nearby channels in range is likely to cause signal to interfere with another AP's wifi signal.

I had similar problem. A factory reset fixed it.

I tried another factory reset and I'm still experiencing this issue. I'm a bit bummed out at the moment. I can't connect to other networks either. At least I have cellular data to work with for the time being, but I expect I'll get throttled sooner or later.

I don't think it's an interference issue.
Like I said, none of the other devices have connectivity issues. I haven't really changed my wireless setup for the last 10 years. Always the same channels (with difference channels for each overlapping AP—channels 1, 6, and 11). My cordless phones all use DECT which runs on 1.9GHz and I usually have Bluetooth off when at home. As for neighbors, the distance between our homes are far enough I am never really in range of their networks.
If enabled, turn off power saving
same problem as yours. i've replaced the kernel and still testing.
I have this problem, i think it's hardware problem, just updated the f/w hasn't made it better.
Try adding your wifi manually and select correct security protocol....it resolved an issue like this on my iphone4s.

it doesn't work for the SGS3, it's a known problem, i've checked a few sgs3 and some have this problem including mine, i'm changing my unit tmr.
Has there been any temp fix for this? I've been noticing this a lot more when using WhatsApp, usually you can see the last time your contact has been on, but it only shows if there is a current connection to the internet. When I'm connected to the wireless, it'll show up but after a while, I assume the wireless loses connectivity (sort of) and it won't show the last time they were on. The thing is though, I'm able to get to any pages like normal, so it doesn't actually lose connection.
Why don't you flash a better rom~~
S3 wlan bug
Paranoid Android wlan bug
Hello all together
I need flash PA v2.1 on my SGS 3 !
I have problems with the Galaxy S3 and WLAN simply gets no connection together!
I've already tried all possible steps like Stockrom flash with Odin to the bootloader from the Android 4.0.4 to get! Because it means that even if wifi is broken, you should flash back to flash and then stockrom Paranoid! Wifi can not connect!
I count times on what I've already done everything without success:
ICS 4.0.4 STOCK
wipe data
wipe chache
wipe Dalvik
Permission fix
Flash paranoidandroid
flash gapps jb
flash hw compressor
Wlan ist broken
Then I created a backup of it.
Have again flashed back to stock 4.0.4 ics because I had suspected at the bootloader.
Ics 4.0.4 on it again as everything was wiped and the backup recorded. Again the bow
Then cm 9 installed as described
there is also the wlan bug
from CM9 paranoidandroid
still wifi bug
then back to stock and on CM10
end result
wlan goes
paranoid then flashed wireless bug
then of stock on CM9 on from there and CM10 on paranoidandroid wlanbug
from CM10 by backup still wifi bug.
I just do not know how to fixxen it.
Would appreciate your help very
fix permission reboot
've Tried all sorts of variations but always without success
Please help I really been at a loss why ?!
Am grateful for every tip!

Howdy,
I'm having problems with NFC I have not been able to solve with hours of googling and thought someone may have run into the same issues before. I am trying to program an NFC tag, but my phone doesn't detect the tag or my Nexus 7 tablet (which detects the tags just fine). I'm running the latest Venom ROM and also just did a Factory Reset and reflashed the ROM to no avail. I tried taking off my case, cleaning the contacts on the back cover, holding the tag all around the camera where the hardware is supposed to be and I don't get anything. I have one of the special NFC-enabled SIMs as well, not that that should matter as I haven't tried the ISIS app yet. The tags are NTAG203s. Anyone ever run into something like this?
Just chiming in and letting you know that I have had NFC issues with the Verizon version since the KitKat update...

Glad I'm not the only one, thanks for your reply... out of curiosity are you running stock? I neglected to mention I'm running a Viper ROM but I'm sure there would be more complaints if there was an issue with the ROM.
Fixed!
Hate to respond so late but I figured I would just in case it helps someone-- turned out to be an 1D10T error. I was able to locate a setting in the Viper ROM settings that I was unaware of (Viper Tweaks App --> Misc --> NFC Restrictions). I switched the option to no restrictions and I can now use my NFC tags. Just a tap and I connect to the guest WiFi at work and launch my VPN
Oops never saw your response. Was all stock. I'm about to sell the device. Resetting and will test one last time.
I don't recall this being an issue when I first got my Nexus 9 Wifi, but perhaps it occurred as a result of updates to Lollipop since the original 5.0 release. Anyway, here's the problem:
My Nexus 9 is unable to detect its location while location is set to 'battery saving mode'...using only wifi and cellular but NOT GPS. My HTC One M8 GPE functions perfectly in this settings.
My Nexus 9 IS able to detect its location if I change the location setting to 'high accuracy mode'...using all of the above in addition to GPS.
I thought that perhaps this was happening because the Nex9 doesn't have cellular but my old Nex7 is wifi only and functions perfectly in battery savings mode.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Might it be an issue with the latest release of Android 5.0.1 that my Nex 9 is running?

Same issue here. I do not know since when this became a problem.
Location is working only on high accuracy mode.
It is my understanding that the Zen2 using only a wifi connection can send texts, do "OK Google", and perform other data related functions even if not connected to a phone (i.e. if phone has both bluetooth and wifi off, or is not in proximity to the watch nor on the same wifi network). Is that the case? Does the phone need to at least be connected to cellular data, or can the watch still communicate over wifi even if the phone has no data connection (or is completely off)?
Regarding the speaker: I know that the Zen2 can play music stored on the phone. But, is there any way (or app) to stream music (or video such as youtube) on the watches speaker without being connected to the phone (watch is only connected to a wifi network)?
Lastly, what about phone calls? Is there any way for the watch to receive/make a phone call "independently" of the phone if the watch is only connected to wifi? If not, what about receiving or making a "data only" call (such as using Hangouts)?
TIA!
1. Watch must be connected to phone.
2. No.
3. No.

You can play YouTube videos (there is an app in the store). But I can't remember if it works on Bluetooth only. The downside is it seems to buffer the whole video before it starts, which took a while with my slow connection.

So what is the point of having wifi on the watch if it still needs to be connected to the phone? I don't get it.

I still get notifications via wifi if my phone isnt in bluetooth range.
ok google seems to work half the time for me, but only on 2.4ghz networks. They have to be public (w/o a portal that makes you accept terms of use) or ones youve used on your phone (the watch gets the wifi password from your phone)

Okay I have both cloudsync enabled (on phone's Wear app) and wifi set to automatic but still nothing. No email notifications and I have the crossed-out cloud icon on my phone. Perhaps the wear server is not working for me?
Did you just enable those settings now? If so, it probably takes some time to transmit the new info and WiFi password via slow Bluetooth. Leave you watch connected via Bluetooth and try again later.
I haven't tried to observe and test myself, but I would imagine there is some lag with getting the notifications since the watch connects and disconnects from WiFi periodically to save battery, as opposed to staying on WiFi constantly

Additionally, when you turn wifi on automatic on the watch, stay on that screen until the wifi connects. Once it does, you can adjust the wifi sleep preferences from the advanced menu.

I really would like to see an accurate list of what the Zenwatch 2
is capable of doing if I were to disable bluetooth on my phone &
only use the wifi feature in the phone and the watch.
I know I will not be able to make or receive phone calls if I do that.
But what about all the other functions of the watch?
Will wifi stay enabled in the watch if the bluetooth on my phone is disabled?
-----
Also I still have not found a way to sync/pair my watch to my phone without having to "unpair" after flashing
or restoring a different rom in my phone and setting up all the wear apps, android wear app and all the other
apps and settings which needs to be setup in the phone. (even after I reboot the watch and the phone)
The only solution I found was to "unpair" (factory reset the watch)
and after doing that the phone pairs just fine with anderoid wear
and starts the very long syncing process.
There must be some way of pairing and syncing the watch to the
phone without having to "unpair" it and start from scratch.
Thanks!

Look for "reset wear client" apk here on XDA. It allows you to re-pair watch to different devices or different ROMs on same device without factory resetting

The ADB commands don't work at all, and after much reading in that thread you
posted I finally found out why it's not working for me.
I have upgraded my zenwatch 2 to Marshmallow 6.0 a few weeks ago and I got another
small ota update a few days ago which upgraded the OS version from v1.4 to v1.5 ...
So I am back at square one.
I am not interested in using more than one phone (S7 Edge) with my watch.
The only thing I need is a way to pair and sync my watch without needing to do a
"unpair-device" each time I use twrp to restore a different nandroid backup of my
phone's custom rom or simply restore the same custom rom both of which has
already been fully paired and synced with the watch.

Your watch should stay paired after an update unless you wipe the data partition, or unlock the bootloader which wipes the data partition

I think that apk I linked to addresses the issue in your original post. Install the apk on your phone and it will load the app on to your watch. Once you need to setup your watch with a new phone or ROM, open the reset wear client on your watch. Click the "reset gms" button (root required). This will reboot your watch. Now your watch is ready to be paired to a new ROM or device without a factory reset or re-syncing of apps. Open the reset wear client app on your watch and click make BT discoverable. Then click yes. Now you can open android wear app on your phone and click on your watch. It will say pairing complete and updating. At this point you will reboot both your phone and watch. Then they should both connect fine and function without having to reset or re-sync your watch apps

I have a Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 (wifi) which I have used in the past for running Waze (tethered to a cellphone for data). This tab spent some time lost in a desk drawer, but I recently rediscovered it and fired it back up. There was an OS update available, so I installed that and am now running stock 4.4.2.
Except that the GPS is flaky at best. I occasionally get a location, but usually the teardrop location icon at the top of the screen is flashing and no GPS fix is available. Needless to say, this makes Waze pretty useless.
Some googling seems to indicate a GPS issue with 4.4.2. Is this a Thing? If so, what do you recommend for a replacement ROM? Mostly I'll be using this tab for Waze and Torque Pro. I'm cool with rooting and custom ROMs if that's what's going to work best.
