[TUTORIAL] Pairing the Amazfit Pace with Android 8.x - Amazfit

Hey guys. I own a Xiaomi A1 with Android 8.1 and recently bought a Pace. Beforehand I didn't know that there are problems pairing it with Android 8.1. I always got a message that the pairing had failed. I found some solutions saying to use a phone with an Android version lower than 8.x, update the firmware on the watch and then connect it to a phone with 8.x. I have no such phone and I didn't have any luck with an iPhone. So I contacted Amazfit customer service and suprisingly they responded with a tutorial and the best thing: It even worked! So I want to post this tutorial here for all the poor souls like me . All credits go to Amazfit!
Hello Amazfit User,
Thank you for contacting Amazfit.
I send you a tool to help you update . You can have a try. (please use it with a windows computer .)
Could you please tap the following link to install the software on your computer to have a try :
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1Czn54yqs1HnfQCH2qB9u8CaQUI6m5X6z
How to use :
Please make sure the watch is fully charged first .
A , If your computer system has an adb driver installed, you can skip installing the adb driver step.
If you are not sure you can connect the watch and the charger data cable to the computer, then click on the file ADBDriverInstaller.exe in the folder, as shown in the screenshot below does not require installation :
If the adb driver is not installed, there are 2 ways to install the watch after it is inserted into the charging stand and connected to the usb interface of the computer.
1. Click the ADBDriverInstaller.exe program in the current folder, and then click the install button to install the relevant driver
2,Double-click the Amazfit Watch Tools.exe program, enter the number 3 and click the install button to install:
B, After adb driver is installed, please try the following steps to make a factory reset :
Double-click the Amazfit Watch Tools.exe program to execute the file. Make sure the watch and computer are connected before executing the file.
The program running interface is as follows:

Double Tap 'Amazfit Watch Tools' and enter 1 and press Enter.

Worked like a charm
Thank you so much for this! I had the same problem (not having an old android device), but luckily I came across your post. Now my Amazfit Pace is connected to my phone and I'm ready to start using it.

Really!!
Dude you made my day. Thanks a lot.

Yes, or connect the watch with another phone, update firmware to the latest version, unpair and then pair with your phone.

Boa noite. Excelente tópico, com essa dica consegui parear meu relógio num Mogo G7, com Android 9. Parabéns, me ajudou muito.

Unfortunately it doesn't work with my MI8 just upgraded to Pe10?
So what to do now?
Thank you for i tip

[Q] GWatch in some weird debugging mode

Recently picked up a refurb G watch. However it appears to be in some debugging mode with a hidden menu of debug type tests. So I went into the about device section of the watch and something didn't seem right.
Software version: KKWT
Build number: platina-userdebug KKWT OPENMASTER eng.yjyj.kim.20140818.1125 39 test-keys
This doesn't seem like what I though it should say normally.
So I tried factory resetting the watch and after I got it set up again, I went into the settings and nothing was different.
Any ideas on how I can revert this back to the correct version of android wear or something?
Here is a link to the dump https://www.dropbox.com/s/vyp4ejxnipkjlnm/wearable-bugreport-2015-06-05-08-30-25.txt?dl=0
I figured it out. Once the device is connected to the dock and shows USB debug on the screen, you need to go to the hidden menu and find the port settings. There are four different options. The first and third are the same type of connection. You should be able to choose the first or third. Pay attention to the Device Manager, you should see ADB Interface, G Watch and CDC Serial. If you see that, then install the LG United Mobile Driver. After that you should be able to use the tool from XDA http://forum.xda-developers.com/g-watch/development/script-lg-g-watch-tool-t2820863. Once you use the tool and get to the bootloader screen you will get another driver prompt in device manager for ADB Bootloader. Once the driver is installed you can completely use the XDA LG G Watch tool and Bob's your uncle!

I too got one of these watches. Unfortunately, all of them have a pre-production software version (KKWT). Because this was pre-production software it was never meant to be updated and cannot be updated
tha_bigga78, I tried what you said but something isn't happening right. To be clear, I tried this on two different computers: one that already had Android SDK on it and I have successfully used for ADB connections with my phone before, and one that had never been used for any adb/android software before.
The first time I got what you said, the three things in Device Manager: ADB, G Watch, and CDC. I installed the LG United Mobile Driver. I then downloaded rootjunky's tool from the link you provided and was able to see the device and to unlock the bootloader. Brilliant. But then after the watch rebooted rj's tool would never see the watch again. It sees my phone just fine. I made sure the watch has USB debuging enabled. After beating my head for an hour I did a fresh install on the 2nd, virgin, PC and got the same thing - it doesn't see my watch but if I plug in my phone and run rootjunky's tool I can see my phone show up in the list of devices just fine. Of course, on both PCs I did at rj's tool said and reinstalled the ADB driver through menu option 1. It didn't make a difference in either.
So now I am stuck with a watch that can't be updated and now won't communicate properly with my PC. I am left with a stripped down, pre-production phone and no way (that I know of) to fix it. Any ideas on what to do next would be great appreciated. Thanks!

So, I think that the problem isn't with my PC

I think I may have left a part out....
Once you get the bootloader unlocked and the watch rebooted, you have to get the watch to the bootloader again from a powered off state. Follow the instructions here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ftSCH7qihRI
Put it back on the cradle and see if it is showing ADB Bootloader in device manager. Install the drivers and continue from there.

Thanks! I will give this a try when I get home tonight.
This worked. Thanks a bunch!
I bought the same watch and same problems. Mananged to unlock the bootloader in windows. Just couldn't complete the proccess so I switched to linux and chose "restore" from "[UTILITY][RESTORE][UNLOCK][ROOT] LG G Watch Tool" menu and now its like a new watch. Maybe should have just started in linux but its fixed now anyway.

WINDOWS 7 & 10 PC's don't detect my amazfit pace

I own an amazfit pace smartwatch, bought 2 weeks ago. When i connect it with my PC and laptop(windows 10 & 7) via usb cable they don't recognize it as hard disk in order to see watch folders and import some music following the correct instructions.I hear the characteristc sound when i connect usb. When i browse to device manager i notice that in windows 10 there is no problem with drivers but in windows 7 there are drivers missing.I try to use the download online function but with no result.I feel that is a very simple problem but i am very frustrated because i can't find any solution. Also i am really impressed that it isn't reported such a problem in your great forum,or i didn't notice it browsing the threads.Thank you in advance for your help!!!
Did you tried with restarting watch? Or maybe hard reset of watch? Try also another USB cable.
have same problem, try every pc, new and old windows .. one of the solution i clean the contact point behind the watch, is blocked with our dead skin
I face the same problem, I uninstall the driver from the device manager and re-plug again, now it can detect now.
i used new usb cable--> problem remains
i restarted watch-->problem remains
i cleaned the contact point-->problem remains
i uninstalled the driver(windows 10) and reinstalled it-->problem remains
i uninstalled the driver(windows 7) and reinstalled it-->PROBLEM SOLVED
But my main PC runs windows 10.There must be a simple solution...
the last solution so far is the hard reset.I will inform you when i try it..
I solved my problem. When you connect amazfit it will appear in devices and printers. When you right click it and open properties (somewhere there) you can change the driver from google nexus adb interface to USB composite device. Then It will appear as disk in my computer.

Mine working on Windows 10, detected as MTP device. I do have ADB universal drivers installed but it also works on my Win 8 laptop with no additional drivers installed.
I'm suffering the same problem after many changes of rom and music uploading in the last months. Now the watch is not recognized (unknown device error 43) under 3 w10 PCs, different cables and usb ports. Cleaned contatcs and charging properly but no way to connect with the PC. Desperated...
Any help or piece of advice are welcome

Could you please share the driver link by any chance? .....I couldn't find one ...as I saw from internet I need something like MTP driver...tho all the things are done manually .. so complicated..im using win10 64bit as well, a surface pro4 and my amazfit rom is 1.3.4f thank you!
Windows 10 comes with the MTP driver, so that is not the problem.
I have seen it numerous times that the watch charges but it doesn't get a pc connection.
It is always connected to a bad contact on the back.
Either you have to clean the contacts better or your dock is not working reliable.
A co worker of mine had that and he tried my dock and it worked, so he ordered a cheap one ( not that "bridge" thing ) from ali.
Working since then.
Problem solved
I had same issue but manage to resolve. Go to device manager - USB controllers - right click on the device not found - Update driver s/w - Browse my computer for driver s/w - Let me pick from a list - Untick "show compatible hardware" - Choose Manufacture: standard USB host Controller & Model: USB Composite Device - click next.
I don't know what happened to my Pace. I could connect to it with no problems until now (last PaceFIED I installed was rel 30). Back then (two weeks ago) everything went smoothly, but now when I connect my Pace, "adb devices" can't find the watch. Adb drivers are installed (minimal_adb_fastboot_v1.4_setup.exe). I have changed NOTHING on my computer since the last time I connected the watch, but now it can't find it.
I have cleaned the contacts, restarted the Pace... Nothing is helping. Anyone have any idea?
EDIT: Never mind. The post right above helped
quick fix
I had installed adb correctly so what I do ?
For me worked to clean pins in smartwatch gently with toothpick and after that connect it again to the docking station/charger.
I don't have your luck guys. Watch is new so clean (but I still tried to clean the pins), I have no "device not found" and not a single sound when connecting the watch on 3 different computers.
The charge indicators is showing tho... so the watch receive power from computer usb ports...
any idea ?
Has anyone tried changing the USB port settings to control power? It's in the device manager for the USB ports (properties). That worked for me (found it on the net with a similar issue)
I solved my problem with the most stupid change I could do...
I read somewhere (can't even find it) that some people have had problems with the original usb cable... After 5 hours of adb drivers installations, factory reset and whatever, I just remembered that sentence and changed my usb cable. Now it's working perfectly.
While it's so simple that you can think "how couldn't he think of that before?"
Answer is : the watch is charging so no reason to be suspicious...
That could help someone would just bought it...
I resolved this problem, just connected USB cable on other port.

As stated in my previous message, I'd solved my problem by plugging another USB cable. Did you try a wire of yours?

Yeah, I already try to change the cable with another one, but still no luck. This is weird to me because before that I can use that cable to connect it with my PC and now it doesn't detect at all, only work for charging. And if I use that cable to connect phone it work normally

Amazfit stratos 2 Problems to pc connect

Hi,
I hava a stratos 2 international version.
In the first os versions the clock was recognized by the pc without problems,
but as of version 2.3.5.0 the computer has stopped recognizing the clock.
Yesterday a friend came home with his watch, same version and we could verify that:
1. My clock with his base it is not recognized by the pc.
2. My brother clock is recognidzed automatically with my base or his base.
In other way we try:
1. Clean watch pins
2. Factory reset
Please any help is welcome.
I have been having same problem for so long after one update. It's really frustrating. Nothing seem to fix it. Did u find amy way to fix it?
If you are sure the metallic pins are clean and the cradle is fine, then most probably it's an internal connection issue (hardware). If you press it down firmly and/or twist it a little bit and it doesn't help, then your only solution is using WiFi to connect to watch, see tutorials elsewhere (works with adb, you may want to install PaceOn and FileManager+ to make things easier).
Just updated to 2.3.4.0 . Should I hold off updating to2.3.5.0, if this is aROM problem?

Yes, I am afraid so. my version 2.3.10.5 and I got problems like can not connect to the desktop. Synchronizing is so troublesome.
I have no issues. Watch is recognized by pc.

Please help! Problems with ADB for install apps

Hello Friends!
I'm from Argentina, and recently bought an oppo find x (chinese version].
The first thing I wanted to do was install more locale 2, so that I can have most of my apps in Spanish.
Of course before I created this topic I searched if there's a solution out there, and I found this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/find-X/help/install-locale-t3818383
I followed that, step by step but doesn't work.
Indeed I tried the "long" version of it here: https://www.xda-developers.com/uninstall-carrier-oem-bloatware-without-root-access/
But with no luck. The problem is that I never get the prompt notification on my phone allowing usb debuggin (step 11).
So I think the problem must be in the drivers, that for some reason my windows doesnt install the drivers of my phone (but I can Transfer files with no problem....that's strange).
But where can I get those drivers? They're not even in oppo page.
This problem is driven me crazy, even more cause I think I'm the only one with this issue!!!
PLEASE HELPPPP
New information: I tried with another PC (with Windows 10) and with another cellphone (vivo x21). With both devices and both PC the problem is the same: when I write the command adb devices no devices appear, despite I have the USB debugging enabled in my phone. If I write the command adb shell it says no devices/emulators attached.
I'm have no clue what to do now.
Hello everyone.
I have found a solution. I leave it here, in case someone is in this 1% like me with problems with adb:
The problem was the drivers: apparently my windows doesn't have the correct driver to support ADB android interface, and it doesn't get installed automatically with windows update.
So, what I did was download the drivers from here: http://adbdriver.com/downloads/
And ready, problem solved.
Now my google assistant doesn't work with more locale....but that's another problem...

Couldn't pair new watch to my phone

Hi,
I just bought a Amazfit Pace today. I tried to connect it to my phone (Huawei P20 Pro) immediately, but to my dismay, I only got "Couldn't Pair" error repeatedly. After some research, I found out that the older firmware have an issue to connect to Android 8.1 or later. Many articles suggested that I should connect the watch to a device running Android 8.0 or earlier, then get the firmware update, and then connect to the new phone.
The problem is, I don't have any device that is running with older Android. Both my LG V20 and Huawei P20 Pro is running on Android 8.1. In that case how can I update the firmware of the watch without connecting to the phone? Is there any way to update via PC?
Must be someone around you with Android phone and older version. Should be easier to convince such person to install the app, update the watch and uninstall than root (avoid warranty) and flash with pc.
Sent from my XT1635-02 using Tapatalk
It can be done from the computer too, no need to use a second phone. Check Global Huami Amazfit Smartwatches Group on Facebook (link on @1immortal signature ).
use these files for a manual update of the watch from your PC - https://mega.nz/#F!SI1XWSwC!2uYCCJ0e6vweO0LK-fDndA
Thanks guys, I managed to get it updated via old tablet I've kept it in my drawer for so long that I even forgot it. Now I've received the firmware update (1.3.8a) and able to connect to my phone.
now the problem is, once connected to my phone, there is a notification saying that Rom version 2.8.1.0 is available and asking me to update. I clicked update but nothing happened. It's a bit annoying now. Has anyone encountered this issue? I tried to connect my watch to my other phone (LG V20) and also it happened the same. I hope I don't need to go back to my tablet for another firmware update.
you need to wait, the 2.x.x.x update is a full rom, its some 300MB

Yes, from the watch, go to Settings> Connections and connect to Wifi. Then, go to Settings > Update. There it will download the latest version and install.

When I try to connect to Wifi, it asks me to write the password in the app, but the app doesn't show me a field for this. Can you help me please how to connect to Wifi network?
I had some minor annoyances with this too, bought the watch in official store 2 days ago. Just give it couple of tries, on a phone with android 7. You will succeed eventually. As I said, minor annoyance but since I updated it, I enjoy it
What I do see happening now, though, is probably large number of returns from people who don't know a lot about this kind of stuff. Store opened 2 days ago in Croatia, probably set some records, there was a line in front of the store whole day, it would be a shame if many people came back third day with complaints about unusable watches.

Try to un-install and re-install the Amazfit Watch app. You need to be in the ROM version 1.3.8a and pair the watch with the phone. Then, open the app before you do anything. Connect the watch to Wifi. Once the watch asked u to enter Wifi password on the phone, the phone should prompt you to do it.
