[Q] MediaPad M5 8.4 - Kirin 960 or Kirin 960S ? - Huawei MediaPad M5 Questions & Answers
Does the M5 8.4 have the Kirin 960 @2.4 GHz or the Kirin 960S @ 2.1 GHz?
According to Huawei's website, the 8.4 is the Kirin 960 2.4 ghz and the 10.8 is the Kirin 960s 2.1 ghz
https://consumer.huawei.com/uk/tablets/mediapad-m5/tech-specs/
The 10.8 PRO - Kirin 960
Mine 10.8 has Kirin [email protected]
8.4' 960s 2.1Ghz
10.8' 960s 2.1Ghz
10.8' Pro 960 2.4Ghz
what is the difference between kirin 960s and 960 ?
The 960s has a lower maximum clock speed.
i've read something about npu that 960 missing

Are you sure? Many had reported 8.4 is [email protected]
Even gsmarena and reviewers said so.
Or you owned a special spec?
I do have the SHT-W09 (8.4" WiFi only) and it has definitively a Kirin 960 (max. frequency up to 2.4GHz)

Then they are all wrong... Huawei specs says 2.4ghz for the 8.4 and CPU-Z says the same...

I think it should be like this:
8.4' 960 2.4Ghz
10.8' 960s 2.1Ghz
10.8' Pro 960 2.4Ghz
Help at all? From an M5 SHT-W09, 8.4 UK.

You know very little that's on the internet is actually true these days right?
Trump/Brexit, all casualties of Internet misinformation.
Those peak clocks are unrealistic under real world conditions. It's going to throttle to keep thermals under control.
The kirin 960 clock rates are just high to show off in quick benchmark runs.

It's pretty weird that 8.4' gets 960 while 10.8' gets 960s...
This thread is completely weird.
All information have been said and it is still being discussed. It's Huawei...that's it....
Kirin 960s is different from 960 not only to lower cpu clock speed , it has npu support just like kirin 970 ,

Snapdragon 810 v2.1 with 630 MHz GPU clock speed?
[email protected], i´m not really shure but as far as i know the 2.1 revision of snapdragon 810 cpu should have a gpu clock speed of 630 MHz max., correct? So, on my device the max gpu speed is 600 MHz. so i think the "old" 2.0 revision is buildt in or am i wrong?

Click to collapse Sony merged commit to enable 630MHz on Z5, but they didn't on Z3+/Z4 for now. Maybe Sony will include it in future release. https://github.com/AndroPlus-org/an...mmit/0edab0ae1a6ac8e298fdb4edee0323a5cd773dad
I did not read the SoC's specs, but the clock limitations may differ depending on the manufacturer, not on the SoC. Thinking of the overheating issues it's possible Sony reduced the GPU clock to reduce heat dissipation.

Honor 5x - with snapdragon 616 or 615??? Cores (4 + 4) or (8)
Dear all, I have got my Indian Version KIW-L22 two days back. here is screenshot from CPUZ. it says the snapdragon 615 with (4 arm cores @ 1.5 GHz + 4 arm cores @ 1.2 GHz). Pl confirm if it is same in other variants Thanks Subodh

I have heard that the spec sheet was corrected to be a 616.

Earlymon you are right. Only in 616 the clocking is possible up to 1.2 Ghz. So I think it must be CPU-Z mistake or something.

Click to collapse CPU-Z also thinks that my Snapdragon 801 in my HTC M8 is a Snapdragon 800. It's not perfect. Both the 615 and 616 have the same base number - msm8939 - and that's been the source of all the confusion. I was given the early test unit by Huawei - the honor 5X never had the older 615 and any reviewers who think that they did are simply mistaken.
I too get the same. While running on CPU-Z, it shows Snapdragon 615. In Antutu its showing Snapdragon 616 for my KIW-L23
it is SD 615v2 i.e. SD616 with 8 cores (4 at 1.5 and 4 at 1.2 GHz)
616 and 615 are 99% identical, I didn't bother myself with this in particular
hi the speed of Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 MSM8939v2 is 1700 but the honor 5x speed is 1500, why ?

CPU Benchmarks - performance factors
Could somebody please explain why the Snapdragon 821 @ 2.4 GHz has TWICE the single-core benchmark score compared to the MediaTek Helio P35 @ 2.3 GHz!? https://nanoreview.net/en/soc/qualcomm-snapdragon-821 https://nanoreview.net/en/soc/mediatek-helio-p35 I can confirm that Snapdragon 821 devices indeed perform way better when it comes to say, emulation, but the question is... WHY? (considering it's only 0.1 GHz ahead in terms of clock speed)
