Hello all,
First off, If I have posted this in the wrong section, I apologise.
The story is so far... I rooted my Galaxy S9+ (SuperSU), decided to unroot it back to stock firmware (i got stock firmware using SamMobile site)
Now, I have a S9+ with 128GB internal storage, yet when I check it, it shows up as 32GB. Please can you help me sort this problem out as the phone is basically not allowing me to download or update anything because it is showing as the memory is full, not allowing me to save pictures, snapchats, etc...? I assume it is due to the way I unrooted the phone.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

Ok, so I'm kinda already at stock. When I first got my SGS2, I rooted it but didn't put a custom ROM on. I was happy with this arrangement. It's been so long now though, that I've forgotten what I did and how to get it back to how it was when i bought it.
I have taken a screenshot of my info page: Here
I've spent all evening trying to get it back to untouched status - I've managed to unroot it and flash the stock kernel (even though the kernel info in the screenshot still mentions root for some reason). This doesn't seem to be enough though - it's still failing to install an OTA or kies update.
I'm going to be passing this phone on once the SGS3 comes out, so it's vital that it's back to square one and able to handle OTA updates.
I'd really appreciate some guidance here, I've been out of the tinkering game for far too long!
I don't see anything out of the ordinary on your screenshot. Have you ever changed CSC? Also, make sure you disable USB debugging if you ever enabled it.
Try * HERE * for the official O2 UK ROMs, with the latest being XWLP3. These will wipe and unroot your phone.
Intratech has put a link at the top on the procedure you need to follow.
Don't worry what the kernel says. When I first got mine it used to say root and dell and it wasn't a dell or rooted.
What's CSC? I've turned usb debugging off btw.
I've tried the OTAs and they download, but when it comes to installing it stops at 14% for a moment, moves up to 19% then reboots and gives me a failed update message.
I did wonder if i changed the recovery but I'm not sure how to tell - or how to change it back if I did. Would that cause problems?
I'll check out that o2 stuff, thanks. This phone was bought unlocked and unbranded though, will that matter?

More info in attached pic.
A quick google would lead me to say that no, I didn't change CSC. I hope!

you have to reset the counter as well search forum for custom binary counter and usb jig
other than that you may try to flash an old firmware 2.3.5 and then reset counter;
the stock rom how did you obtain it? is it the right one for your phone's region? did you have another one?
i would recommend you use fusdownloader; get the right stock rom for your phone and flash then; i have successfully unrooted my old sgs II before I gave it away to my mum as a birthday present
I've always stayed at stock rom because I was happy with it. I think the only rom-related change might have been to update to 2.3.3. Pretty sure it was the correct region. I didn't need to wipe anyway.
Would wiping and flashing everything from scratch solve my problem? Rom, kernel, recovery etc. I could do that, but I'd wait until I was about to give the phone away. If there's a single package to flash in Odin that sets everything back to factory standard, that'd be perfect.

Oh and about the jig? If that's the only option that doesn't involve a full wipe, I'll just hold off until I wipe. I don't fancy buying a jig for one task.
This'll teach me for tinkering and then waiting a year to revert!

To me its as simple as flashing O2 firmware via Odin after a full wipe of phone via CWM recovery .
GB O2 was posted KDD and KE2
and ICS LP3 O2 is available and should be on Checkfus .
kernel says root has nothing at all to do with ROOTING or even a rooted phone its a build signature only .
OTA update is known to be poor for some sticking during the download .

Hello,
I have an i9300 s3 from Vodafone UK. I first rooted it by following instructions on team android .com (can't post the link due to being a new user).
That worked fine for a few months.
Later I wanted to test out Cyanogenmod so I installed that using the new installer.
I then needed to return the phone to complete stock (I have to return the phone to Vodafone so I need it to be absolutely stock).
I downloaded the most recent Vodafone UK firmware from Sam Mobile (I9300XXELLA):
[again can't post the link]
I then used Odin v1.85 to flash that onto the device.
All seemed to go ok but when the device rebooted it got stuck at the SAMSUNG logo screen. The logo animation completes and then starts again.
I am really new to this. The description above contains my complete experience of rooting and flashing ROMs. Any help would be massively appreciated. Please let me know if I've left out any crucial information. Is it possible to get the phone working again?
Like so many posts before you, factory reset. You may have further problems as you've flashed such an old rom, efs may not mount.
Please search and READ, before posting new threads. Sticky guides in general have all you needed to know.

Hello,
Thanks for the tip.
The factory reset has fixed it.
Sorry for not reading / searching. It's one of those things where you get so scared that you've bust the phone that you freeze up and don't think clearly. Needed another's guidance to unfreeze.
Thanks.
i accidentally deleted a system app the other day while toying around with root access ( i am a noob to rooting ) not knowing the consquences of a simple mistake. anyway i tryed downloading the new OTA update for my phone and keep getting an error msg and im unable to install the update. this is from not having the original system app that i mistakenly dowloaded. this is a new phone and i dont expect to get much help but if anyone can it would be greatly appreciated. all i need would for somone with a z998 that would be kind enough to send me a file of their system apps so i can download this update thanks. all help is appreciated.

If you have a nandroid back up of your phone, just restore that. Even if it is old, it doesn't matter. You can also try to restore the factory firmware and then apply the OTA update. This is done differently depending on the phone, but usually there are instructions for it on the manufacturer's website or if you are lucky the manufacturer has software designed to do this from your PC.

I'll preface this by saying I have ZERO technical background. I'm here looking for help. My S9 Plus was factory reset recently, and I lost all of my data. The phone was not backed up to any clouds. All the recovery programs that I found online say the*phone*has to be rooted to recover the*data, but I do NOT have the skills to*root*it. I had read that my version of the S9+ was not rootable, but then saw Dr. Ketan's post on rooting at https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s9-plus/how-to/guide-root-s9-oem-fix-t3763974 However, he states that the rooting process "...will erase all data including Int SD storage from device," which sounds like a Catch-22 (wiping the data that I'm trying to recover). So first question, is there a way to recover the data? Second question, is there someone trustworthy here who can help me recover it, either remotely or in person? I'm in southern California. Thanks guys.

Currently, the Snapdragon (US) variant of the S9+ is not rootable. If happen to backup with Smart Switch, that might be your best option.

Thanks Cyclone, mine is the SM-G965U. I thought @dr.ketan had solved the rooting problem for this model, but maybe I was mistaken. If that's the case I guess the only thing I can do is wait until someone comes up with a rooting solution. I stopped using the phone right away so I don't overwrite the old data (assuming it's still in the phone somewhere).

If I remember correctly, a possible root method has been discovered for the Note 9.
As for old data still being there, I'd say it's unlikely but I can't be 100% sure.
