Any way to change notification size on MIUI 10 ? - Xiaomi Poco F1 Questions & Answers

Hi,
is there a way to change the notification size in MIUI 10 ?
As you see in screenshot the Adguard notification is foldable and can be foldout.
The others are to big and waste a lot of space.....
I didnt find a setting within the apps and within MIUI settings to control that.

Huawei P8 change DPI and nav bar position

Hello to all!!
I just bought this amazing device! I found, however, two problems:
1. when I changed the dpi from 480 to 380 buttons of the navigation bar will be moved to the left. There is chance to hit them? Also the notification bar is moved to the left. Everything else is centered.
2. I wanted to replace the default font. I used ifont but even if it is added to the system fonts are not replaced. It depends EMUI I have installed? you know if there is another app to be installed to replace the fonts?
For the rest I would say very good phone and excellent battery life.
Thanks to those who want help.

Could you solve it? I also changed DPI and my nav bar has messed up... I miss xposed :crying:

Hide notification content / message preview on MIUI lockscreen

Hey everyone. A few weeks ago I bought a xiaomi phone (Redmi Note 4) running MIUI 8.1.6.0. One of the first things that I wanted to enable was the hide sensitive notification on lockscreen. What I mean is that when the device is locked you get a notification on the lockscreen and it shows the content of the message. For example If I received a WhatsApp of my dad it would show Whatsapp from dad: Buy bread. What I wanted was to hide that it was my dad and the content, so it would show 1 new whatsapp message. For some reason you can't do this from MIUI settings, but after browsing the deep web I found a way to do this, and MIUI does have this feature but it is hidden. What I found is that If you download the app called Floatify and acces the help section and click on “Disable native android notifications on lockscreen“ it shows a MIUI menu that lets you choose beetween: Show all notification content, Hide sensitive notification content and Don't show notifications at all. This is what I was looking for. This keeps on working when you unistall floatify so it is a miui setting for sure. MY REQUEST IS: Could anyone please create a simple app or shortcut to acces this settings? I think it would be easy cause you would just have to see how floatify does it and copy it. This is a very requested feature on the MIUI forum but xiaomi just tells you to disable notifications themselves, so many people would be grateful. Thanks. Contact: [email protected]
Hello there!
You could try if the desired settings menu is in the list of shortcuts in the QuickShortcutMaker app found here:
>QuickShortcutMaker<
Alternatively you could also try the Hidden Settings app:
>HiddenSettings<
Good luck!

Hey thanks bro it actually works.
How to hide hide contents of locked apps only? There is a guide, http://c.mi.com/thread-170007-1-0.html?mobile=2 although why this option is not present in note 4 MIUI 8.2 I don't understand. Any help?
This is already available on Redmi note 4 (MIUI 8.2.10.0). Have you tried Settings>system & Device>Notification and status bar>App notifications>whatsapp and switch off lock screen notifications. There will be no need to download third party app.
This is a tutorial on how to do that
If anyone is still looking on how to do that, I just did a tutorial step-by-step on how to hide the notification's content. Here's the link en.miui.com/thread-913531-1-1.html

I am using MIUI version 8.5.4.0. To hide sensitive notification,
GoTo Settings -> LockScreen & Password -> Advanced Settings -> On the lock screen, Choose "Hide sensitive notification content"
Unfortunately I guess, this doesn't help in this case: https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-4/help/setting-hide-sensitive-notifications-t3684607

Is there a way to show ONLY the sender for whatsapp notifications but not the content, like in the iphone 'hide sensitive info' option ?
The given options here work but I would like to know the sender for all messages to choose if I want to unlock the phone to see the message or not, depending on the sender.
1.Open settings
2.Open app lock
3.Open app lock setting(click on right corner icon)
4.Open hide content option
5. choose the apps
And enjoy

I know your pain brother. Default dpi/scaling looks like a phone for 90year old with mega eyesight issues + steps to lower it to a good looking system are too steep, so you can have either Large or tiny option. View mode setting has zero effect on size of notifications in respect of incoming notifications and notifications appearing in in quick toggle area. Text Size @ Small makes them notifications look bit better but not ideal considering its a qhd screen..
Try going for small in both of these settings. At first View Mode/Text Size set to small seemed to tiny to handle, but I got used to it already. I would rather have small and crisp text than that default large out of place crap..
No i dont have root, but what happens if i do have root?

You are right, i went with small on both settings, and it does feel a bit better. Thanks for the recommendation! I must admit in some apps text is extremely tiny though (like whatsapp). But well i guess thats better than those giant notifications that annoy me all the time
But on my mate 9 it works for Notification also. Only on my new Mate 10 it is not applying. I hope for a fix in the next Updates.

What do you mean by "it" ? View mode ?
Its just that on mate 10 (alp-l29 8.0.0.115 (C185):
x. View mode options have zero effect on size of notifications, however,
x. Text size options does change the size of notifications, however only Text size - small looks good, however it makes other areas in phone uber-tiny..bearable but no the perfect solution..

No, you are wrong. Text size does change the size of notifications. View mode is the setting that's not working properly since it has no effect on size of notifications no matter what of 3 size options you chose.
See the screenshot I made comparing 3 different sizes of Text size, which clearly show that size of notification does change depending on the chose size of "Text size".
If View mode would work properly, meaning its options would have affect on notification size than Text size - normal could be used, but unfortunately that's not the case, so in order to have decent looking phone Text Size and View mode should both be set to Small.

so what?!
Manual change of DPI does not give you any better results than View Mode - Small, Text Size - Small. Even the slightest change of DPI from "423" (423 is what the system sets with the mentioned settings (View Mode - Small, Text Size - Small)) messes up the whole system - for example, font in Chrome and Whatsapp jumps like crazy even @ 420 which is a small step down, so in short - messing just with DPI in development options will not give you more eye candy/more decent looking system than View Mode - Small, Text Size - Small.
I get it. In all my mobile phones I have used xposed with the appsettings module, we will have to pray for xposed to arrive soon in oreo in order to be able to touch the interface of the system. Huawei must offer better tools for the density of notifications but I do not think it will fix it
Lowering the dpi also or increasing the dp in the developer options did not change the notifications size also. I was having the mate 9 and it was working perfectly for me in this regard. There should be some update to fix this issue.

Set mine to 492. I noticed the notification contents to shift down when I set it to 493 or higher.
I set it to view mode normal and text size small and put dpi in developer settings to 392. It looks like as it should have been standard. Anyways, now I have to change dpi after every reboot .

Me too. I noticed dpi in developer settings reverts back to 432 every after reboot. Also auto brightness. It activates after reboot even if you turned it off. I guess we should lessen rebooting from now on. ?

Messages app - change font size?

Using the Samsung Messages app on my Verizon S9+, I am unable to permanently change the font size in the actual conversation screen. Yes, you can pinch to shrink and expand font size but that gets reset to standard size every time (unlike on the S7 Edge where it remembered your size preference).
Through Settings, you can globally adjust font size but the only Messages screen this affects is the main Conversation screen which shows all conversations. Once you click on a conversation, normal font size is presented. Frustrating for my old eyes...
UPDATE: Ironically, when you adjust Font Size in Settings, if you swipe the sample screen above the sliders, it shows you a sample Messages screen and the font size does change in the sample, but it does NOT change in the actual Messages app. Sounds like a bug to me as they are depicting what I want to do, just doesn't work.
I'd like to use the stock app as it has some features that are unique. There must be a way to change the font size so the setting is persistent, no?
Seeing the same also. Hard for my aging eyes to see.
And also finding it doesn't follow the global setting for size. Same as you.
Same issue. I don't think you can change the font size just for the Message app.
I when back to my beloved and trusted Textra SMS app.
It changes when you change the font size in display settings font.

As I mentioned in my post, this is not true. On my phone, changing the font size in display setting ONLY affects font size in the main Conversations view. Once you click on an actual conversation, the font size returns to the default tiny size.
You can get a newer version on apkmirror.com but it wont allow updating samsung apps for some reson. Anyone have the latest version of messages signed by samsung that will install?
They need ro bring back the S8 messaging app which has this inbuilt feature to adjust text. Wonder, why they ripped off that useful feature.

I updated my original post with this tidbit:

Hopefully Samsung will acknowledge this bug and release a new version of the app. Clearly the global Font Size Setting is supposed to do exactly this.
Same thing. Very frustrating

It's really not that hard to pinch zoom. Takes a half second. Sure, it'd be nice if it would stick but, c'mon man.
I had a problem with the Background colors in the Messaging ap - some of the themes I like to use are really awesome but when I get to the messaging ap, they used yellow fonts on a white background - nearly impossible to read. I either have to use a different messaging ap entirely (Mood is a pretty good one I found that has TONS of customization options) or just guess at what was written - or change themes.
It's dissapointing that I can't change the balloons or fonts in the messaging ap any more - would be nice if we could - and change font size too - so for now, I am using the MOOD messaging ap and while I prefer the Samsung Stock one better - Mood isn't bad at all.
Its not only internal Messages app, Viber and Hangouts has really small font in input line. Tried increasing font size, tried toying with DPI settings. No idea why its like that and only affecting text input lines, but hope some later update could fix that?
Hi Everyone..I just got the 9 plus and the messaging app is different than it used to be. It is just blue bubbles with white background. It wont let me change anything like before and the setting the background wallpaper for messages is no longer there....is that how everyone else's is?
I also switched to Textra for the all of the customization that it offers. It's a free download so I gave it a try and I've stuck with it since. Just my 2¢

No, not "come on man". It should work as designed, and has worked since GSI-II.
I use Chomp. Let's you change all of the fonts and sizes, including the message notification pop-up.

I think you mean, "It should work the way I want it to work." It IS working as designed. It's just that you don't like the new design.
That's not to say that I don't agree that it would be better if we could choose a persistent font size. I do.
But we're talking about a split-second pinch out to increase the size.
A split-second.
So, yeah... C'mon.

Thousands of people having to take a split-second to adjust for a design bug every single time? No. You're missing the point.

change colors in any apps possible ?

i know there are lots of apps that change the screen temperature for easy reading using an overlay
is there any app that can change custom colors inside the app based on this 'easy' method ? even if it runs the cpu a little higher to render.
ie set the source color -> destination color to change ?
i think its a good ideea to continue theme android after updating to pie since substratuum doesnt work anymore
