I connected my mi account to unlock the bootloader and now it seems I am stuck with it. Every time I do factory reset to miui roms i have to enter my account. I want to experiment with stock and treble roms and at some point in the future I will want to sell it since I change phones often, so its very annoying to have it attached with my mi account.
After searching I tried Flashing stock firmware with miflash tool AND the mi unlocking tool (mi account unlock tool) which is supposed to do exactly that. The unlock tool says everything successful when I select bypass, but it just factory resets and I get the message to activate with my mi account anyway.
Anyone managed to do it?
Just enter i.mi.com and remove the device from account or do it inside the app, easy as that

I haven't tried this but read somewhere that this works.
fastboot devices
fastboot -w
fastboot erase config
fastboot reboot
Also I read u will lose browser and some Google apps that can be reinstalled manually.hope it works.
The screen is cracked but it apparently works fine.
Do I have any chances to unlock it?
First thing I did was going into recovery mode and wiping the storage but now I'm stuck on a welcome screen asking me to login with the previous mi account. The device seems to run MIUI 10.
I've tried mi flash and sp flash tool with no luck.
Do you have any ideas? Is there something I can do?
Thanks in advance
On first boot where the mi logo appears does it say "Unlocked"? That means the bootloader was unlocked.
SP Flash tool requires a xiaomi authorized account. There are people online who offers that service online. Try the MIUI forum.
I'll be diving into a new phone (pocophone f1) hopefully and the reseller told me that he has lost his mi account and thus giving it to me for a lower value.
I'll be all over it as long as I'll know that:
Mi account whatsoever doesn't affect my phone
I can flash a custom rom and still use it like normal without the mi account
May I ask what is this mi account for? Thank you for the reply!
It is mainly for finding and killing of lost device and of course theming it as well.....
you need to have older account in order to release miui for you to unlock bootloader. if he has lost his account then miui will send SMS on her sim to verify his identity and then he must log out for you to login in to YOUR miui Account to UNLOCK bootloader and flash custom roms
if the device is already unlocked then
yes you can flash any roms but the moment you will flash miui (using twrp) it will ask OLD user's account's password!
you may try flashing miui later via miflasher (fastboot rom)
it may wipe all the details of previous account (i am not sure)
however EDL flashing always wipes everything! (only xiaomi dealers/ authroized technician centre can perform edl flashing as it involves opening back panel and having authorised account from miui china)

You will need account for unlock bootloader or in case u factory reset
Do a reset before buying and see if it asks for miui acc.

Until someone finds a workaround
Hello,
Suddenly, just 1 month after the end of warranty my Xiaomi Mi Play stopped working showing "The system has been destoryed" message on recovery. I have read some articles and I have found that this could be fixed by flashing the ROM, but my problem is that bootloader is locked and I kept in this way for security purposes.
I know I can use the target app (https://c.mi.com/thread-2262302-1-0.html) to unlock it, but it also need some steps at android level (per attached image), which I don't have access anymore.
So my question is: add my account for unlock the unlocking permission is something which is at phone or at account level?
I mean, if it's something at the phone level there is no way to fix, but if it's at account level, I may fix the issue by using another Xiaomi device.
Can someone please clarify to me, or may I have any hints please?
Regards,

Mhhh.... it seems something related on phone:

So, probably phone is bricked and there is no way to recover except than support center.
Hello,
I ran into the same issue a couple of months ago. I was EU rom using mi flash and accidentally selected the 'clean and lock' option. There are a few ways you could try to fix your phone:
1. If you have a mi account that is registered to the phone, you could login to mi unlock using that account and try unlocking the bootloader and then flash using mi flash.
2. If you don't have a registered mi account then your options are pretty limited. You could try a go to a service center but like me there might not a one in your region. The only other option edl test point. There are many people, mostly russian or indian, who have an authorized mi account and are selling their services. A quick youtube search and you'll find many options. They remotely connect to your computer and use their authorized account to unlock your bootloader and flash the factory rom. They usually charge anything from 25 to 30 usd.
There is a way you could apply for authorization from mi but judging from the many forums it is vary rare to get a reply let alone get authorized.
Unfortunately there is no other way to Unbrick your device until now.

Hello,
Thank you for your reply.
My Mi account was registered on the phone, but once I login to "mi unlock" and try to unlock, I got the error attached.
I am suspecting some operations on the phone were required in advance.
I mean, I have never applied for my Mi account to being able to unlock or something, is there a specific page where to do now (e.g. on a differenr Xiaomi phone, online, etc.)?

Hello,
I have checked on other forums but it doesn't seem that Mi Play has an edl test point.
Or I couldn't find the correct information...
