Why not just flash magisk
Oh and FYI everytime you flash a rom / update it turns in to stock atleast all the system changes.

why is that? I've never seen any other device that I've used (Non xiaomi devices, don't know if its a xiaomi thing) return to stock recovery after flashing a ROM. Is it a TWRP bug? If so, I'm waiting for a bug fix.

No you misunderstood me.
I'm not saying recovery partition turns to stock
The system it self, if the rom doesn't have root in it self as is it won't be included. Also when you flash which ever rom, even Samsung for example root disappears the app supersu is still there but you need to run it and let it do its own work to get root back again right.
I'm just saying when ever you install new rom on xiaomi phones and basically any phone root is inactive until you run the app again
No bug, oh and twrp is unofficial that's why encryption isn't working for data partition.
No bugs it's just how it is.

Yeah, I know that root is removed when a ROM is flashed. What I was saying was from my own experience flashing miui 9&10. The recovery goes back to stock. Do you know why that happens? Is there some step that I missed?

If you are installing official updates of rom, like weekly or global version from xiaomi and not a custom rom. What other result did you expect?
If you are, Im not sure anymore but if you at this moment have stock Rom with twrp only and when a new version is released of stock Rom.... Than yes of course the system will be restored since it's stock recovery will be replaced to stock. Not a bug it's commen sense since you are updating to stock which doesn't contain twrp.
If you are using other rom that doesn't flash over /recovery partition, well then that is another story

Oh okay. Maybe I must have been confused and flashed the official instead of the xiaomi.eu version
How about start reading guides. After flashing ROM you have to flash fde zip otherwise your twrp will be replaced with stock recovery. That's the reason why you have to flash it. If you flash that zip you will still have twrp after flashing miui ROM @Zeggi you are wrong

Actually, what the fde does is disables encryption of /data partition.
Twrp is under /recovery partition.
And also I did a test yesterday by restoring my f1 to stock and verified that I didn't have to flash fde and after that I did reset in twrp and flashed fde v2 with magisk which worked also.
Big difference I noticed with fde v2 flashed was that the first boot was very slow and sluggish but after reboot it solved the slow speeds. Other than that I noticed vanced YouTube module in magisk worked for me, before when I hadn't flashed fde vanced YouTube crashed all the time so sure I benefited something out of flashing fde

I want to apply for that beta testing team. But i have to be on global developer rom and install OTAs twice a week.
Now that i have twrp, stock miui roms cant be flashed and ota's cant be recieved.
I know the simplest method is to just use MI flash and flash fastboot rom.But is there any other way?
I read on xda that some patching of boot.img will work and things but that has to be done everytime with each OTA .
Is there a way i could revert everything back.
What if i flash miui rom through twrp after doing all that boot.img patching and then flash mi recovery removing twrp. Will ota's work?
I would be grateful if somebody briefs me about the process.
Nougat is only being beta-tested for Mi5 at the moment, not for any other phone.

Everyone, good morning!
I was using MIUI 8.2.10 Global Stable on Redmi Note 4X (4Gb and 64Gb).
I unlocked Bootloader
I installed TWRP 3.1.1-0
But the system did not start, it gets stuck in the "Mi" logo.
I had on the card the ".zip" file from MIUI 8.2.10 Global Stable, I made Full wipe and installed MIUI by TWRP. Even then the system does not start ...
What can it be?
Why did not I start the MIUI system after I installed TWRP?
Can not install MIUI by TWRP?
I'd rather install using TWRP than Miflash tools, as I think it's safer.
Either flash SuperSU or flash the zip for disabling dm-verity after flashing the ROM else the ROM won't boot

Search for lazy flasher

Very Thanks
thank you so much! As I already installed a custom, I will wait for MIUI 9 to leave to install. Thankfully it is possible to install by TWRP. In the case after installing the ROM, I install Root or this file Lazy disabling dm-verity, that is not need to be the two, right?
Enviado de meu Redmi Note 4 usando Tapatalk
Lazy flasher is necessary to Boot a MIUI ROM after Installation of a custom recovery such AS TWRP.
For a custom ROM you don't need lazy flasher.

Via fastboot
if you updating to miui 10 before with TWRP and flashing Disable encryption your TWRP should be there and you could using if to instal MIUI 9. you dont even need to format data and your data on internal storage would be safe
I had. Just flashed miui 9 via twrp się everything works ok

is it safe to rollback to miui 9 and relock bootloader? cause i saw some posts that xiaomi brick phones after downgrading miui.
Xiaomi Miui10 is supposed to have anti rollback protection and causes hard bricks that can't be recovered anywhere but authorized repair centers because EDL is locked.
its ok now i manage to revert miui 10 to miui 9 and relock the bootloader using Miflash

I just flash the Global Stable ROM using miflash tool and checked clean all and lock option . please hit thanks!
I flashed MIUI 10 Global Beta without unlocking bootloader and TWRP, just right from the system updater.
Files here: http://en.miui.com/getrom.php?r=355&m=yes&app=false
Just download the stable ROM and flash from updater to roll back
Hi guys, I have a Pocophone and it updated on its own to the new MIUI 10 while i was sleeping but i want MIUI 9 back!
Is it still possible to downgrade without having any problems with XIAOMI or should I reboot it from scratch? I'm asking because it's been 2 months since your last posts about this matter
If possible can someone guide me the steps
Thank you

Do a clean install, worst case do a fastboot install with xiaomi flash tool "official ROM" remember not to choose clean install and lock. Avoid the lock part
After that install what ever ROM and kernel you like.

Hello. I have already asked on Reddit and Quota but I have not received an answer. I have the original global MIUI 10.3.8 with official TWRP and root by Magisk. I received a notification on the device that an update to MIUI 11 is available. As for root, I didn't make any changes to the system. I only gave Administrator permissions for four applications. What do I have to do to install the official MIUI 11 update?
Just download the .zip of MiUI 11 and flash as usual. Dirty flash works, don't need to wipe anything. Magisk 20.0 is working, no Disable Force Encryption needed. I tested with the miui.eu ROM...

For upgrade no, you don't. Make sure you have the latest TWRP (3.3.0.0 or 3.2.3.2) as some people are having issues. I didn't tested on official Global zip, only with the miui.eu variant

TWRP will stay? After uploading the rom do not restart the device and do a TWRP flash? I have 3.3.0.0. Another thing is that I use global ROM.

Do you have experience on flashing custom roms on TWRP?! Maybe you should do some reading first...
But it's just a matter of download the miui.eu version of MIUI 11 at https://sourceforge.net/projects/xi...files/xiaomi.eu/MIUI-STABLE-RELEASES/MIUIv11/ and than install via TWRP. You'll need to download the Magisk TWRP Zip and install it as well.

Okay. Upgrade to MIUI 11 and everything works together with Magisk v20 and Manager App. Thank you for your help.
