devs for poco - Xiaomi Poco F1 Questions & Answers

I read about a few notable devs receiving the poco. Most of the names I remember from the redmi note 4 community like omni's dev which was one of my favorite roms, the guy who quickly released the first pie rom and the legendary franco that everyone knows(Sorry to all the other devs who I don't remember because I probably haven't tried their rom). Is it true we will get fk for the poco? All this good support might make me want to get the phone now
Unless I read it all wrong somehow my apologies for that if I did. If I didn't then hopefully more hype for the poco!!

Request CyanogenMod for OnePlus Two

Hello,
Since we are still waiting for official cyanogenmod for our device, there are request form for a device in cyanogenmod forum.
If you do not mind write a comment and share the link to others, maybe it will make a difference. Some developers sees it is trending and decides to join the train or something .. Thanks!
Link to the request
MOD EDIT: Changed title since it's misleading.
Nice bait-n-switch title. Maybe you should rename it "Request CyanogenMod for OnePlus Two."
Yeah, you might as well have called this 'Someone Ran Cyanogenmod On The Oneplus Two, You'll Never Guess What Happened Next...'
Anyway, thought little things make big things happen ..

To All Rom Makers & Developers !!

MY QUESTION IS WHY SO MUCH UNSTABLE ROMS BEING UPLOADED EVERY DAY?? WHY DONT ALL ROMS DEVELOPERS WORK TOGETHER & MAKE A STABLE ROM FIRST THEN TRY TO PORT OR MAKE OTHER ROMS?? AS I SEE THERE ARE PLENTY OF ROMS BASED ON ANDROID 7.0/7.1 & ALL ROMS HAS SAME BUG . ONLY INCLUDED 1 OR 2 DIFFERENT FEATURES IN EVERY ROM . I AM NOT SAYING DONT MAKE NEW ROMS OR BRING NEW FEATURES TO OUR REDMI NOTE 3 BUT DO IT AFTER FIXING ALL BUGS. EVEN WE DONT HAVE FULLY STABLE CM13 BASED ROMS. I AM NOT INSULTING OR OFFENDING ANYONE. JUST ASKING A SIMPLE QUESTION
Thanks & Regards,
Zooroeo
Yeah, you're asking a simple question. Fine.
First, I would like to ask, why you're writing with ALL CAPS ON? On internet, if you write in all capital letters, then it symbolises that you're screaming or ordering them. Even if you doesnt do.
2nd, for most developers out here, ROM development is only their hobby. They dont get paid. You can only donate them, if you want to.
3rd, there are plenty of similar ROMs because every developer want to contribute individually to the community. Dont ask why, it's their hobby. This way they can enjoy more, as it's their hobby.
4th, which "same bug in every ROM" are you talking about? If you meant VoLTE, then it's not meant to be included in CM, if a developer does this, his ROM may not become "official".

AFAIK, developers here included it by a "hack" type in RN3. I'm not sure.
Simple answer, because nearly every Nougat ROM is based on CM 14/14.1 by TheStrix, which is currently not official and is far away to be nightly. And that's why they have the same bugs

[Request] Miui Rom

Hello to all,
sorry if I open another thread for this request, but Cosmic Dan, dev who was working on MIUI GSI, has abandoned the porting. He told me that all WIP was pushed to GitHub, so please is there any devs who can port MIUI Rom on treble devices? (I have Honor View 10). Thanks
Hi,
for information, I made the same request in MIUI Porting Team forum: http://en.miui.com/thread-3355142-1-1.html
I hope someone will be able to finish the kitchen.
PS: Even if CosmicDan give up, I would like to thank him for the time he spent trying to port MIUI to treble phones.
I have a feeling this will have the same outcome as the other thread. Why are people so desperate for MIUI anyway? If you want it, go buy a Xiaomi phone, they're relatively inexpensive for smart phones nowadays.

You made me laugh. Xiaomi phones aren't that expensive, and I'm nowhere near "rich." You do you, whatever. I dont have the time to continue this argument.

Maybe for example, someone wants to have an Miui rom on galaxy s9 phone which is may not be replaced with any xiaomi phones,

I'm not desperate, for me Miui is the best rom and before the Honor View 10 I had a Xiaomi mi5. But now the top Xiaomi devices are not so nice (notch everywhere), so would be nice to have Miui Rom in other devices.

For example again, . . . .Why buy xiaomi phone if you already have s9?
, Lets say someone give the s9 to you but you hate touch wiz and you prefer miui interface; would you buy another phone if you could have copy xiaomi's ui and save money,

When there will be ever a miui gsi it will not be the same as on a real miui device. It would be illegal to Integrate all the cloud based miui features..

It is not illegal if you're not selling it, besides; xiaomi will appreciate you using its cloud and cloud based features as they can offer you services that requires money and make profit out of you, as you may know; xiaomi does not makes profit out of hardware but of its miui software and its bloatwares, so i think its a win win situation.
The spirit of using GSI roms is to be able to try anything.
To say if you like Samsung OS, LG OS, or Miui OS go buy it. Does nothing but prove that you are arrogant and clueless.
Please miui ROM GSI

Abroad different forums OP fans seem to be triggered when talking about MIUI, or request it for an OP device.
Be helpful or don't reply at all if you're gonna be a **** about it.
I absolutely love MIUI, however due to the device not being sold in the Netherlands, I chose for an OP6 (Warranty, local support etc), on which I hope some day I can flash MIUI10 on.

I barely remember making this comment. But, I was a little rude, no doubt. I remember that someone made a very rude ( that commenter was dickish)
Their comment about how people should buy Miui, instead of simply asking about gaining access to a ported Miui Rom.
Why say something like this, on a custom Rom website, and in the GSI rom section!
I cant find that comment now....deleted? Regardless, the spirit of using custom Roms and and especially GSI roms is to be able to have access to a wide variety of Roms, and its nice to have something different instead of the usual CAF and AOSP roms.
Yes, its nice to have greater access, and to be able to try different things. Thanks to being able to try a ported miui rom, my next phone will absolutely be a Xiaomi. You cannot currently buy Xiaomi in the US, and thanks to our political "geniuses" Chinese phone prices are sure to skyrocket, making Xiaomi plans to expand into the US market, even less certain.
Regardless, my next phone will very likely be a Mi Mix 2s, largely because I was able to try the Miui software via a ported custom rom. Although I cannot find the phones locally they are certainly easily found online.
Wouldn't it be nice to be able to find GSI roms, that allow us to try a greater variety customised android OS's by One Plus, LG, Samsung, Huawei? I think so.
Xiaomi lately released a Pie ROM, I suggest it's a GSI https://www.xda-developers.com/android-pie-alpha-build-xiaomi-mi-mix-2s/
already extracted system.img with brotli, let's see if it can be ported :good:

I think there is anyone interested to port MIUI
From what I believe no-one is working on it, @CosmicDan was working on a port but as I recall he got tired of the impatience and ungrateful community responses he took a break, or quit it entirely.
That was our last hope for active development, as I believe no-one is working on it right now

That is very sad. Miui is a great UI.

A great opportunity for AOSP Builds

OnePlus has numerous models (like my Nord N10) that are still waiting for Android 11. Other models have beta versions of Android 12, but OnePlus has wholly and completely botched their rollout of Android 11.
I'm sure that THOUSANDS of OnePlus users would gladly pay for a stable ROM.
Would love to see Pixel Experience or Lineage take the lead on this!

No doubt mate, I would definitely pay for a Lineage ROM...
I mean, I even contacted the OP support team showing them how pissed and disappointed I am due to the lack of OxygenOS support for the N10, but they answered with a completely generic and useless email...
However, there's already a Pixel Experience ROM for OP N10: https://download.pixelexperience.org/billie
But I dunno, isn't Pixel Experience way more Google-dependent than OxygenOS? I usually avoid Google stuff.
EDIT: Well yea, I just noticed that ROM was discontinued, my bad.

Appreciate your feedback. It’s a chicken or the egg conundrum.
I’ve shared feedback directly with both Lineage and Pixel Exp that there is an opportunity here. Some twerp moderating the Lineage forum (not a developer) sent me a grumpy reply saying “read the forum rules you can’t ask for a ROM for your phone”. I explained to the dummy that I’m not talking about just my phone, rather it is a huge opportunity for nearly every model of OnePlus phones.
We need to help folks at Lineage or Pixel Exp understand that yes these custom ROM projects are things they work on for fun — but that they are also supported thru DONATIONS. So, consider developing ROMs for models where there are known customer dissatisfaction issues. Maybe even require a minimum donation of $15 or $25 if you have published a stable ROM that you are committed to for ongoing support.

I think many developers build and develop custom ROMs in order to practice or just to have fun, not for money. What I think you're proposing is turning what is a fun hobby for many of the developers into a sort of job, which I think is a little unreasonable. This is probably the point where most developers would stop having fun and cease development altogether. I think letting developers pick whatever devices they want to develop for would be for the best. The only thing we can do is wait or send a device their way in hopes that they pick up development. Also, there are already Pixel Experience and LineageOS ROMs for the N10(I'm using Pixel Experience right now and it's pretty stable). If you're feeling extra adventurous, there is a guide to flash GSIs from the GitHub Wiki here.

Thanks for sharing your point of view. Agreed 100% that these are volunteers who don’t do it for money. Just pointing out that there’s an opportunity for both because of how OnePlus has handled the rollout of Android 11. The OnePlus 9 is part of the Android 12 Beta, but the N10 and other models are still waiting for Android 11.
My goal is just to create awareness of an issue. Given that most custom ROM developers focus on a couple of phone models, they might not be aware of the issues that OnePlus has had. Someone can still be a custom ROM developer on the side for the fun of it, but at the same time pick devices where there is a need. It might increase donations — a way to subsidize the fun.
I held off on installing Pixel or Lineage on my N10 because both mention issues with adaptive brightness — didn’t know if that meant that brightness was randomly changing or if that means it just doesn’t adapt and stays at whatever you have it set on.

Thanks for the calm discussion. From your perspective, I can see how looking at all of these OnePlus devices and their lack of recent updates has created a huge void that could be easily filled with custom ROMs. The N10 is no exception; only 1 major android update and that's it, which is obviously a big bummer. I think some developers are aware, but might just be waiting for the "promised" updates to actually occur, slow as they are. I personally think the slow deveopment progress of the N10 relative to other OnePlus devices is most likely because this phone is on the more boring side, and most people have marked it off as budget garbage. Concerning Pixel and Lineage: auto brightness just doesn't work at all, and other than DT2W , both are pretty stable(as indicated by my last post).
I love you both

Question Will there be custom roms?

I am thinking about importing this phone but i wanna be sure to buy a phone that is generally well supported regarding custom roms. So far the only custom rom i see for this phone is the xiaomi.eu rom which can only be flashed via fastboot.
So my questions are:
1. Do you think it is worth buying this phone over the oneplus 8 pro (not only regarding specs but also regarding moddability)?
The specs would be nice to have but moddability is more important to me.
2. When do you guys think will major custom roms start to support this phone?
i am coming from the Axon 7 who is known as a "moddable" Phone. There are a lot of Custom Roms for this Device and i am a "flasher" too. But with the Mix 4 this is not needed. The Xiaomi.EU Rom Stable is the best solution i think because i like the MIUI.
i don't think that it is the best "moddable" Phone but it is a great Phone always.

Some custom ROMS in China supported this phone. But Mi 11 ultra is the best.
I consider myself picky when it comes to roms and for the last 4 years I used something very close to aosp. However I fully agree that xiaomi.eu is a very good and I don't feel any need to change it with anything else. That's even more impressive when you consider what a piece of trash is the original CN rom.
Of course more choice is always welcome, but the one option we have right now is close to flawless.
I've always used custom ROMs, GSI, LineageOS, etc.
I got my Mix4 this week thinking there was no way I was gonna use MIUI, but ... gotta say, once you customise it a bit - it works pretty well!
I got my Mix4 and Pad5 about a month or to ago and im kinda really fed up with miui, on the Pad5 there are a few gsis that work really well, but for the mix4 there unforuneatly isnt any aosp style rom, but i really hope there will be some day, im going tonbe flashing it the instant one comes available.
The opinions on this subject are quite split in the middle... as far as i know, they are working on it to create an AOSP-based alternative. I submitted for testing.
Before the Mix 4, i had my Mix 2 with Lineage almost constantly, since MIUI is just not my taste.
A aosp based rom would be awesome. Where can you submit for testing?
I'm on weekly xiaomi.eu MIUI13 A12 and it is amazing. Came from google pixel 6 pro. that was an unusable phone.
Same as me I just made the switch from the P6P on Wednesday. Got a bit bored with it.
For those asking about custom ROMs if you join the mix 4 official telegram page you'll find the info.
