How can there be any development for Android 6.0 without the gorram Sources and Binaries. Honor is still holding out, saying they need to beta-test their proprietary ****e. Somehow I kind of doubt that we'll see official Marshmallow/EMUI4.0 before the friggin' year is up.

I am a beta tester and I would guess another month or so. Software is pretty close. So patience, they aren't holding out. They have actually been very forthcoming and helpful to folks here at XDA.
I hope someone with knowledge about kernels would step up and create a custom kernel so that we can overclock and optimize.
Developement is below average. To compare, my HTC HD2 had excellent custom roms available, my Samsung Galaxy Note I had a fair ammount of roms available with most functionality working properly. The Honor 5X currently has no rom with all the basic hardware working (mainly the fingerprint reader). Whatever the reason is, I can say that currently you should not buy this device if you want a custom rom as your daily driver.
Check the custom roms section if you want to see the recent developements. Check out the CyanogenMod roms, since all the others are based upon that AFAIK. If there is still stuff listed as not working (hardware) then wait a little longer or go for another device if you want to have custom roms.
Do not agree with KoeWaffle at all, with exception of fingerprint. Good choice of main custom roms, does not matter if cm based, that can be used as daily drivers... way better than stock!

All current custom roms are CM based. There is pretty much 1 custom rom with many variations available. The device has been out for less than half a year, so it is really not a surprise nor an attack to this community.
This phone offers a slick design and a fingerpint sensor as major selling points. One of it is not working. How does it offer more than a similar phone from another brand then? Despite what others may think of it, I personally really like the fingerprint sensor and do not want to sacrifice it for a more vanilla experience (plenty of other phones offering that from the get go at a lower price). People should just be mindful of it. If they want a different software experience with the samd phone it is just not ready yet...

I for one wouldn't say development is "below average". What would you consider average, for starters? The 5X was, as you said, released quite recently, and we already have bootloader unlocking, TWRP, and root access available as additional options here in the forums, not to mention a (small, ok, but still) number of different custom ROMs including CyanogenMod. To me, there's really not many other "important" things beyond this, except for custom tweaks for every model (the Honor has some as well).
Really, the only "big thing" we'd be missing here on regards to modding would be an easy Xposed install - I say easy because many users have already got it, but afaik it's not a simple flashable .zip but system file editing as well. Not a big deal for a truly tech-savvy person like those who roam the XDA forums, though.
I'm not arguing the selling points; it's true, the fingerprint sensor was a major differentiator considering this phone's market range and price, and many phones have followed the (its?) example. But then again, it's just one feature, and it's already been mentioned multiple times that its implementation is close in time.
I wouldn't advise people to get another phone just because of a lack of fingerprint support on custom ROMs or a kind-of difficult Xposed installation. That is, unless they want to get another phone for like, a month, before coming back and buying the 5X - lol!
Of course, not an attack, just my humble opinion.

1 - Maybe a poor choice of words, what I am implying is the availability of complete and sound roms is below my average experience (that being the HTC Leo / HD2, DesireHD and N7000). In due time we might see complete custom roms, but that time is not now and I do not think we can say yet whether it will happen for sure (the developers are not paid to do this).
2 - It has been close for months now, they're waiting on Huawai to release the sources. Some say the sources have already been released but I haven't checked them out myself. For now it is not available and thus I say the available roms are incomplete.
3 - I would, if they want to buy a phone now and have a custom rom as a daily driver (/w all functionality) then it just isn't ready yet. Most people want a custom rom to get rid of the EMUI completely. And no, once you buy that other phone you probably stick with it. So if you want a more vanilla Android experience and don't care about the fingerprint sensor, pick the cheaper phone.

1-Now that's something I can agree with
2-The sources were released iirc, but as you said developers are not paid for this so it's a game of wait and see
3-I would suggest people give EMUI a try for a while after buying the phone. It's not like I love it, but come on; the specs aren't anything out of this world, I know that, so if you so desperately want a custom ROM that you can't wait for a day- just get another phone, don't even consider the Honor 5X, or any phone that comes with a skin for that matter. Besides, the wait makes it more worthwile imo, how can you know how much better a ROM is than EMUI if you haven't actually run EMUI to begin with? Again, just my opinion...
update
not happy with honor..... and dont even know if update comes or not think like jst making fool.......
using honor 5x and 6p from last 4 months have got any update even security patch in honor while in 6p it comes every month...... wer saying that we will get update of android 6.0 in last may but its naw june and no responce.................
disappointed
Matter of opinion, I respect yours and fully agree with huawei ****ty update policy. At least they open bl and share some sources, which are, at least on qualcomm based huaweis, usable to some extent. I have different opinion on development strength, I see no problem with using crpalmers base (cm) for other ROMs as it working well w/o bugs mentioned by u. The last real things that are to be fixed are fingerprint (on the way, fixed by surdu petru ) and HDR mode on camera.

i was kinda afraid of development due to the fact that it is an honor device,bt now am happy that it has official cm13 and other cm based roms.
Very premium feeling phone for the price range, good features. Don't care that much for EMUI though, it's a bit iPhone-y and limited.
CM12 and CM13 ROMS are well represented here, and hope to see some Nougat/CM14 love here soon
Good support considering its huawei

There are so much Custom ROMS for Redmi Note 3[QC] . But all of those are much similar to each another there's nothing new in there, not even any unique features. SO THIS IS A REQUEST TO DEVELOPERS TO PLEASE MAKE SOMETHING NEW & UNIQUE. I KNOW THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE OUT THERE WHO WANT THIS, I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS ISSUE
PLUS I MUST SAY ONE THING THE JOB THAT DEVS ARE DOING FOR US I MEAN LIKE PORTING ROMS AND KERNELS, MAKING NEW MODS, FIXING BUGS(WHICH IS REALLY TOUGH) ETC. WITHOUT BEING PAID FOR THEIR TERRIFIC WORK. THAT'S JUST AWESOME AND I AM VERY THANKFUL TO THEM ALL .
And meanwhile if anyone can suggest me a good custom ROM for our Beast RN3[QC] . That would be very thankful:angel::highfive::good:.
Thanx in Advance.
Developers make their rom in their free time without being paid so its really not respectful to demand more when someone is giving you something for free. There are lots of roms for redmi note 3 that you can try many cm based roms, miui roms many custom kernels i havn't tried all of them but its a good thing that so much development happens here.
Now a days You can pretty much add any feature you like to a rom with xposed. So when a dev makes a nice smooth rom be greatful and enjoy what you got for free

There's no such thing as "best rom". Intresting to see peoples comments on various roms though.
I'm currently on bliss, and it's f-ing awesome, especialy paired with arcus for theaming joy.
RR 5.7.0 and 5.7.1 have the -2% or 50% battery bug, both of them.
I tested in 2 units RedMi Note 3 Pro SnapDragon 3GB 32GB and both of them show the same behavior with ResurrectionRemix 5.7.0 and 5.7.1:
After rebooting for first time battery is stuck in -2% or 50%. Otherwise the phone works well, battery actually charges.
If you are luck you will get the 50% instance of the issue, that only results in the uncertainty of "how much juice do I have left?".
If you get the -2%, additionally to the uncertainty, you will have all the annoyances related to the phone thinking it has no-juice: popups, no flash, etc...
If you can live with those, RR is fine and stable.

I agree with you. All of the roms are the same. Even mooke isn't much different from CM these days. DU is just a copy of RR. All of them are the same, nothing unique.
I also would like to see something amazing.
Sent from Note 3, Xiaomi Redmi Note 3.
If you want something different you can try flymeos from Meizu. They create official flyme for redmi note 3 snapdragon.
http://www.flyme.cn/firmwarelist-51.html#7
Still beta but ok for daily usage. Imo, quite bloated but its UI is smoother than MIUI, fp work, IR blaster work, gps lock fast, battery comparable with cm/miui.
Minus are a little animations glitch, some not translate to English.

Hello to all,
sorry if I open another thread for this request, but Cosmic Dan, dev who was working on MIUI GSI, has abandoned the porting. He told me that all WIP was pushed to GitHub, so please is there any devs who can port MIUI Rom on treble devices? (I have Honor View 10). Thanks
Hi,
for information, I made the same request in MIUI Porting Team forum: http://en.miui.com/thread-3355142-1-1.html
I hope someone will be able to finish the kitchen.
PS: Even if CosmicDan give up, I would like to thank him for the time he spent trying to port MIUI to treble phones.
I have a feeling this will have the same outcome as the other thread. Why are people so desperate for MIUI anyway? If you want it, go buy a Xiaomi phone, they're relatively inexpensive for smart phones nowadays.

It is not illegal if you're not selling it, besides; xiaomi will appreciate you using its cloud and cloud based features as they can offer you services that requires money and make profit out of you, as you may know; xiaomi does not makes profit out of hardware but of its miui software and its bloatwares, so i think its a win win situation.
The spirit of using GSI roms is to be able to try anything.
To say if you like Samsung OS, LG OS, or Miui OS go buy it. Does nothing but prove that you are arrogant and clueless.

Abroad different forums OP fans seem to be triggered when talking about MIUI, or request it for an OP device.
Be helpful or don't reply at all if you're gonna be a **** about it.
I absolutely love MIUI, however due to the device not being sold in the Netherlands, I chose for an OP6 (Warranty, local support etc), on which I hope some day I can flash MIUI10 on.

I barely remember making this comment. But, I was a little rude, no doubt. I remember that someone made a very rude ( that commenter was dickish)
Their comment about how people should buy Miui, instead of simply asking about gaining access to a ported Miui Rom.
Why say something like this, on a custom Rom website, and in the GSI rom section!
I cant find that comment now....deleted? Regardless, the spirit of using custom Roms and and especially GSI roms is to be able to have access to a wide variety of Roms, and its nice to have something different instead of the usual CAF and AOSP roms.
Yes, its nice to have greater access, and to be able to try different things. Thanks to being able to try a ported miui rom, my next phone will absolutely be a Xiaomi. You cannot currently buy Xiaomi in the US, and thanks to our political "geniuses" Chinese phone prices are sure to skyrocket, making Xiaomi plans to expand into the US market, even less certain.
Regardless, my next phone will very likely be a Mi Mix 2s, largely because I was able to try the Miui software via a ported custom rom. Although I cannot find the phones locally they are certainly easily found online.
Wouldn't it be nice to be able to find GSI roms, that allow us to try a greater variety customised android OS's by One Plus, LG, Samsung, Huawei? I think so.

First of all your post's title is very misleading, edit it.
Look brother, it's inappropriate to make posts like this. Developers do all the hard work for free, but they have a life too. It takes time, skill & a lot of trouble shooting to develop a ROM. So just give them some time, okay?
If we keep nagging them, the devs might feel annoyed & lose their interest in developing for our device completely. Tell me, is that what you want? The problem is we only want to take everything for free, giving nothing in return - not even a little bit of patience!! That's not how the world works.
Android 10 isn't out for this device yet, but we already have 4 Android Q based custom ROMs for A3. You can try those in the meanwhile.
No hard feelings bro, just wanted to share my thoughts with you. Thank you.

I see. Stock android is not everyone's cup of tea. You see, this phone runs on stock android, so every custom rom for this device is going to be based on stock/AOSP. You probably won't get that cartoonish MIUI for this device. GSIs? May be. But those things are always riddled with bugs. Talking of Oxygen OS, there isn't a whole lot of deference between Android One & OOS. Besides, you'll lose the ability to use your cameras to their full potential - a common problem with custom roms in general.
You really should have gone with CC9e instead of A3.
I, for one, enjoy clean, fluid & bloat-free Android. Every feature you get on MIUI can be duplicated on stock rom with the help of some useful apps & a bit of creativity
Basically, stock android is like soft clay. You can customize it to any shape you like (granted, it does require some effort); you can't say the same for 3rd party skins like MIUI.
I thought that after more than 2 years since Mi A1, people finally learned that if they want MIUI, they need to buy a phone with MIUI and not Android One. What puzzles me even more, Xiaomi offers EXACTLY the same device with/without MIUI, yet people jump on the Android One train and complain.. Sorry for being off-topic, but I'm amazed by this behavior since the beginning of Xiamoi's Android One line

Hello guys. I just come from an iphone, before Pxel 2 xl and can`t stand ios for obvious reasons why people love Oneplus phones! Will we get the same love as OnePlus 7 Pro in terms of custom roms and development? Does some experienced devs work custom roms for our device?

Most of the 7 pro kernels are working out of the box for our 7t pro/ mclaren. So its only a matter of time the roms are coming. Only problem till now is twrp due the dynamic partitions. But this likely will work in a few weeks
Shouldn't be too long...
Great! Can't wait to rock Havoc, Evolution X, Bliss or some other great rom

Never used OMNI rom before this but I must say it`s awesome, ticks all stuff I like in custom rom. It`s very stable, none issues so far. Only thing that happened twice was the oneplus camera crash when I enter portrait mode but after clearing app from background all works ok. This rom has all the goodies from the stock rom plus much more customisation. Feel free to try it

Hi I'm coming from the Samsung Note 8 and I'm familiar with rooting but for some reason, I'm having trouble installing Omirom on my OnePlus 7T Pro. Unfortunately the thread is not for noobies. I've read and followed the instructions My phone is unlocked I have root with Magisk, the stock room with adb enabled recovery. When I input command fastboot -w it erases everything but I get an error in regards to partitions also a failed remote error I'm able to flash the boot image but all other parts of the Omirom I just get error messages regarding it can't find at the address. I unzipped the file and extracted to my adb fastboot folder on my PC. I've tried numerous times and well for now just put it to rest cause as you know setting up your phone from scratch a few times gets frustrating. I was wondering if I can get some help on this thread cause on the original Omirom thread, well you have to be an expert. Any help would be appreciated if not I'm just gonna have to wait for TWRP. Thanks.

Where is the love?!?
I'm very much a user - and very grateful for all the XDA dev support & hard work.
Was looking forward to OOS-based custom ROMs for the OP7TP - is this likely to happen anytime soon and to any where near the level of TLC the OP7P received?
Is the sparsity of cus-ROMs just related to non-availability of a proper custom recovery?
Would love to have xXx No Limits/ Havoc/ Renovate ICE etc for the OP7TP.

Renovate ICE developer doesn't have 7T/Pro so he can't test. But he said he might add support if he can get testers.
(I might be wrong, he said it in telegram.
It's extremely stupid by OnePlus, to not keep the whole 7/T series on the same OOS base, since our internals are basically identical. I mean we have same kernel base.
If this were the case then renovate would probably work for our device. (I'm just ranting might be completely wrong).
For XXX; this might be something

Are there any signs that a fully working TWRP will be available anytime soon(?).
Looking at the excellent Dev/ custom support for previous OP devices, I went for the OP7T Pro hoping for the same....
With the OP 8/ 8 Pro release around the corner - is it likely that OOS custom ROM development for the OP7T Pro will be over-looked?

If there's no TWRP by the time OP8 releases it will probably have same, if not less amount of ROMs and kernels (because new processor)
If TWRP supports later, I'm pretty sure all OP7/Pro ROMs will add support for T models because they all are so similar. (Like the kernels)
I myself don't care about custom ROMs, only kernels, and there's plenty of them to support T models.

I definitely feel the pain. This is the 3rd phone in a row that I've bought where it seemed development would be great, and instead turned out to be almost non-existent. Of course, I don't blame anybody here. I just really miss having access to multiple different fun ROM's and kernels. Last phone I had with good development was the HTC One M8, good times... lol.
