don't read this post & don't waste time - Xiaomi Mi A3 Questions & Answers

:good:

First of all your post's title is very misleading, edit it.
Look brother, it's inappropriate to make posts like this. Developers do all the hard work for free, but they have a life too. It takes time, skill & a lot of trouble shooting to develop a ROM. So just give them some time, okay?
If we keep nagging them, the devs might feel annoyed & lose their interest in developing for our device completely. Tell me, is that what you want? The problem is we only want to take everything for free, giving nothing in return - not even a little bit of patience!! That's not how the world works.
Android 10 isn't out for this device yet, but we already have 4 Android Q based custom ROMs for A3. You can try those in the meanwhile.
No hard feelings bro, just wanted to share my thoughts with you. Thank you.

I see. Stock android is not everyone's cup of tea. You see, this phone runs on stock android, so every custom rom for this device is going to be based on stock/AOSP. You probably won't get that cartoonish MIUI for this device. GSIs? May be. But those things are always riddled with bugs. Talking of Oxygen OS, there isn't a whole lot of deference between Android One & OOS. Besides, you'll lose the ability to use your cameras to their full potential - a common problem with custom roms in general.
You really should have gone with CC9e instead of A3.
I, for one, enjoy clean, fluid & bloat-free Android. Every feature you get on MIUI can be duplicated on stock rom with the help of some useful apps & a bit of creativity
Basically, stock android is like soft clay. You can customize it to any shape you like (granted, it does require some effort); you can't say the same for 3rd party skins like MIUI.

I thought that after more than 2 years since Mi A1, people finally learned that if they want MIUI, they need to buy a phone with MIUI and not Android One. What puzzles me even more, Xiaomi offers EXACTLY the same device with/without MIUI, yet people jump on the Android One train and complain.. Sorry for being off-topic, but I'm amazed by this behavior since the beginning of Xiamoi's Android One line

[Q[ MIUI vs Stock rom

Hi people
I have just bought a new phone, and selected S3. I've had Desire with MIUI and also the MI-One phone with MIUI. It is therefore no surprise that I am missing the versatile MIUI system on my S3. However S3 also has some good features, and I just can't decide wether I shall root the phone to get MIUI or leave it with stock rom. I would highly appreciate if someone with experience of S3 and MIUI would be so kind to share it with me.
- Why did you change to MIUI?
- What are the key benefits of changing? (better battery etc)
- How does S3 work with MIUI? (errors etc)
Perhaps there are some who changed to MIUI, but then have changed back to stock because something didn't work or some features of stock was missed on MIUI. Please also share this.
PS: If it is already started a thread with this question I am sorry. I haven't found one.
Looking forward to read your feedback!
*bump*
MIUI is a bag of balls. iphone wannabe. all the apps all over your screen. no dedicated section to store your apps. stick to stock
Bumping is banned .
Asking whats the benefits of this rom or that rom is also banned .
jje
Hi
I'm sorry if I did something that is banned, and I don't think you understood my question. I have been using MIUI for almost two years, and I am quite aware of how it works. I tested many different ROM when I had Desire, as I thought the Sense was not good at the time. MIUI was the one I really felt for, because of its many adjustable things.
Now I have a brand new S3 and I just can't get used to the ROM that is on this. I have installed the MIUI launcher, and are happy with that. What I would like to hear is from people that have been using MIUI on S3, and get their feedback. And this means also positive and negative experiences. For some people MIUI will work great, and for some others it won't. I am aware of that, but it is so I can make up my mind if I wan't to root my S3 and install MIUI or just don't bother.
Some things that can be positive is better battery, better use of ram etc. Just can't see how this should be banned to ask for?

Too many custom roms.

We have too many custom roms for onyx. That's a good and bad thing the same time. It's a good thing because we have many good developers who create special roms from there personal time giving us great diversity but at the same time we have many buggy or constantly updating roms in very small incremental steps. I think it would be a good idea if we users could create some kind of feature database with all the various roms and the most important, how they stack up to each other from features /steadiness, battery stamina point of view. I don't know if it's a good idea koritsi even doable) but it is a thought I had for a long time because I encountered the same problem when I wanted to choose between various roms. What do we think about that?? Thanks for taking the time and reading / contributing in the topic.
Ps; If mods think it needs to be moved in another section I would be grateful. Thanks again.

You've posted in the wrong section.
I think it's a good idea! Thought of something like that myself a few days ago. So far I've tried pure unofficial CM13 and Temaseks Custom CM13, apart from stock OOS, of course. Liked the pure one a little better due to better stability and lesser, but also less incremental updates. That's my two cents. What's your experience?

DON'T ROLL BACK!!
This is ONLY OP's opinion.
Majority are WAITING for custom ROMs as far as I know.

Yes, there are many custom roms with issues, but they are basically all based on the same custom CM rom - which means that once we solve an issue there, it will also be fixed on the custom roms.
For now I think: more custom roms = more users = more feedback = less issues in the long term.
Having a feature database would be great, but people have way too different requests/expectations from roms, that would not really work.
We need to have more custom roms so that we stick to this lovely service for a long time.. It's a nature of human being too desire more rather than sticking for one thing
I agree, the claim of "too many roms" might be exaggerated. The underlying notion of a database listing all the ROMs at our disposal with their objective feature sets plus maybe things like current versions, links, bugs and quirks and benchmark scores plus personal experience with them concerning day-to-day performance and battery life would be a great thing, wouldn't it? New users would get a hub with essential information to get into finding and flashing the ROM most suited for them quickly, while senior users would have the overview of new developments of their favorite ROMs. For me, that sounds great. I hope the OP did not want to imply limitations of ROMs would be the way to go. Competition makes for some nice developments.
I had the same problem choosing a ROM. features are all described in their own threads. but it's a lot to read and hard to decide which one is right for you.
maybe something like categories could be made. like: Resurrection ROM is feature heavy and only for power users, CrDroid is in the middle and CM is just basic without extra features....
someone would have to make a list like that.
Agreed.
Quality>quantity.
All the ROMs have a very minor bug, but most of them were cleared and being cleared. But now the ROM I really miss in OnePlus X is MIUI. But yes We have CM13 which is awesome in every aspect.
I myself tried porting miui to opx but stuck with mi logo and have no idea how to Clear this. I hope Our beloved OnePlus X devs are trying to make one.
Biggest issue is you have a solid Rom working for you and you feel the need to flash every update. I was that guy for a while. If your Rom is working great don't update unless it's next month's security patch or some major feature added in you must try.
as for me: choose rom with ota stable & feel free
What intrigues me the most is not the many custom roms available, but the same devs compiling/maintaining 3 or 4 roms at the same time. That ends up in not getting enough time to deal with bugs imo...i never saw such thing (the same dev having 3 or 4 roms at the same time) with any other device I had previously, only the opx. Sometimes the same dev maintains a rom for other devices(like sultans cm13 for our opx and another device that dev has for example), but not different roms. At least I never saw it happen on my previous devices

What is the best custom rom for honor 5x ?

hello
i need rom haven't lagg and nice battery life
thanks
1. go to the ROMs section,
2. look at the threads, read commentary,
3. flash what looks like best idea, test it.
4. if ROM is good, stay on it; if not, go back to 1
5. stop creating unecessary topics.
6. Success.
No, really, asking questions like this is so frustrating. I moved from device which had like 3 AOSP ROMs, it was such a limited choice and people still asked which one is better instead of testng and finding what works best for them. Gorramnit. Don't be lazy, what's good for me or someone else maybe isn't good for you.

mate, you not help us ...
I need to know something about camera quality (HDR etc), no lag or battery life to and we need that informations if someone test custom roms.
We don't have time to waste to read each post and thinking about what is better in some rom than other roms...
If you can help us, help us ...
I would recommend RR OS

Now back to english: Noone can tell you what's good for you, except yourself. I like barebone, nearly AOSP stuff, with constant updates and improvement and official support, which means it's with zero hastle, so anything except Lineage is a no-go in my case. Somebody else likes themes, bells and whistles, so that person would recommend something different. That's why comment sections are there - you can see how ROM is performing, possible bugs, what to take care of, and, more important - ROM features. You don't have to read all, use search and/or check last 10 pages for bugs, and you're good to go. Or even search for this same theme, I think this is 3rd or 4th thread with same question.
Yes, not everyone have the same taste
Try cosmic ROM. Been using it as a daily driver since a month. Good battery life and smooth ROM. Camera isn't any different. Its same as any camera app found in other ROMs.
RR is the best

Concentrate on 1 ROM

Hello,
I'm not android dev (i wanna be, but idk where to start) and I appreciate your work guys there. But, can you just concentrate on 1 ROM, that will work properly-sh?

That will never happen and the reason is quite obvious. Simply put, the way I see it is that each user has different needs of the ROM he chooses and you can't just add every feature of every custom ROM into a single ROM because then the ROM would be heavy and kind of bloated. That's just my personal opinion though. Also, it's difficult to organize all the developers and make them work under one project because like a user, each developer has different opinions and programs his own way.

First of all, I'm talking about MTK. This post was moved from dev mtk thread. It's totaly different world. Kernel is broken AF, but they are still compiling new ROMs that arent working well (Magnetometer, Proximity, RIL, Fingerprint...). I know it's mainly my fault that i bought a MTK phone :/
Dude's got point but it's hard to just 'merge' all the projects out there. It's easier for the devs to manage the work themselves, even if the quality of their work would be higher if they incorporated. Working with other people is not suitable for every person and obviously the motivation to do it for the sake of better results is not enough to make them do it.

New rom with new ui please

Why all the devs developing same UI in different Roms.
We wants some NEW UI like color os, xperia, vibe UI, flyme UI.
Please build Roms with NEW UI.
Why don't you make one for us?
Sure boss.
May we help you with something else?

It is not funny man.
Every one is making Roms with same UI. They know how to cook Roms thats why I am asking for NEW UI.
If i know how to cook ROM than i dont ask that.
This is not the thing to be angry.
And If you want than develop all the flavours...

I am waiting for the company to publish the sources for NEWUI its a pretty sick rom and much better than say Miui hope the company is fast. Also i am trying to port Oxygen OS 5.0 I know it's closed source but I can try.

What do you mean By NEW UI...
You should try MIUI, it seems to fit your criteria...
I don't think you fully understand how is the process of "cooking" a ROM.
That ROM must be open-source (i.e.: the source code is free to use for everyone), ROMs like Samsung Experience, Oxygen OS, Vibe UI, Color OS etc. are NOT Open-Source, so how to build those ROMs if you don't have access to the source code? Of course, there is a workaround for this, that's the porting of a ROM, but it requires insane amount of work, time to fix bugs and errors. Also worth noting that the device MUST have the same (or at least very similar) hardware, you can't port ROMs for kenzo from, say, OnePlus 5. And even then, kenzo has some old blobs and drivers, so porting ROMs is even more difficult.
Hope that helps.

Now i understand thanks for your time to explain all these things
U can use substratum end endless variety of launchers to customize your rom if you don't like something. Using these you can change every component of the user interface to whatever you like.

Rude
I see People here on xda are hopelessly rude when someone asks these kinda requests. What's the matter guys? Ever heard of something called 'freedom of speech' . C'mon guys we're better than this. Accept one's perspective. In a way he's right. I've been feeling the same for a very long time now. Everyone just tweaking the same stock android a bit here and there and naming it like: super cool os, cosmos os, crazy fast os and stuff. Hell, some don't even give screenshots of these roms cause they know it's all the same.
No offense btw, really. I respect every dev's selfless efforts into Making all the free roms for us. But u know someone needs to think out of the box once in a while. We got so many devs here, instead of divided efforts why not try a collaborative approach and cook something which was really hard for someone to do alone. Kind of like bringing TouchWiz ui, Xperia or any other cool stuff. It's just an example not to taken too to the point of though, if these OSs are hard to port.
No offense to anyone thanx to all the hard working devs :highfive:
And guys please try to behave better :victory:

and they must collaboratively cook a ROM , so that they can fix almost all the bugs and make ROMs better than they really are.
IMO they try to cook one ROM, fix some bugs and then move to new ROM that's very frustrating. I have tried almost every ROM out there for kenzo and all have some bugs here n there. bugs like low net speed, excessive heat compared to miui , lags etc.
Sorry for my English BTW.
