Im using 2 apps Rotation Control to lock on orientation mode and Power Toggles to toggle sleep mode.
Rotation Control:
I use it to lock on landscape mode all the time. But with some apps, it still opens in portrait mode and even set to auto mode. Still it wont turn to landscape mode at all and can only use it on portrait mode! Some apps, it still opens in portrait mode, but after turned on auto mode and turn the tablet to landscape mode and I can lock it to landscape. But still very annoying to do this every time. it happens. I have never such problem in all mine apps in all mine previous tablets. Only on this M5 tablet.
Power Toggle:
I use this widget to toggles between sleep time. Ex set it to 3-10 min and after a while it turns auto back to 30 sec!
Anyone can tell me what the heck is going on? Is it the tablet/EMUI or apps causing this?
Rotation Control works perfectly for me, although I primarily force auto rotation. I'm rooted if it makes a difference (I don't think it does).
If you use a third party app/widget to change screen brightness or timeout, the value resets after you turn the screen off. That's an EMUI thing, I think. There is probably a work around (I would try freezing iAware if rooted) although I have learned to roll with it. Kindisplay does work to keep the screen on where movement is detected.

I managed to solve orientation problem to allow Rotation Control for app overlay. But the annoying Android system shows up in status bar and can't get rid of that message.
I suspected that was EMUI thing, reset to 30 sec. But can't find any solution to this stupid feature.
This will be mine first and last Huawei device. Good quality but crap software.

That's and Android thing I believe, not EMUI. You can get rid of the notification by following these instructions:

I have all the right settings and everything but the damn screen won't stay on for more than 10 seconds.
Screen Timeout is set to never turn off.
Power Saver is off.
No automatic lock.
This is so annoying when i'm trying to read anything, i have to keep touching the damn screen.

Theres a nice app in the market called "keepscreen lite".
It's free and you can configure each app so that the screen wont turn off for them.

By default my device keeps the screen on 1 minute. I've never changed it. It does seem to work fairly well by default.
If you're using a custom ROM, there could be an issue with the ROM. Might be best to post in the developer's thread to alert them to the issue and also to see if others are experiencing.
The main setting I've relied on is under Settings-> Display -> Screen timeout . Mine is currently set as the stock default of 1 min.
Hope that helps!
I have the stock rom, and my screen timeout setting has been at 2 minutes since I first go it.
I'll check out that APP that you suggested j4n87. Thanks
LATER: Sweet, that app works great. I still wish that the system settings actually worked like they're supposed to.
Hey guys I figured out something kinda cool today and idk if anyone else has ever tried it but I thought I would post it here just for fun. So if you unlock your phone and go into a landscape friendly app (I just use messaging) and turn your phone to the landscape position. Then turn auto rotation off from your status bar (if your rom supports it of course). Now lock your phone and your lock screen should also be in landscape mode!
Idk what this does to ethe twlauncher but I know it puts my nova launcher into landscape mode even though I have it set to stay portrait. I've noticed this happening other times when I have been using my phone in landscape and then locked it and went to unlock it again right after and my lock screen appears to be in landscape for a short second. Idk if there's any other apps that now go landscape that dont usually or what it does to the twlauncher so let me know if you guys find anything else cool with this.
Yeah, I noticed that. Pretty neat I guess.
Yes, it was like that on my old Captivate running Gingerbread as well. Kinda makes sense that if it's locked in landscape mode, it would stay in landscape mode, including the lock screen.

On CM7, if I lock rotation in landscape, it goes back to portrait.

thanks for sharing. this trick is great if you are web browsing on your phone but you have the tendency to move your hands around a lot... causing your phone to inadvertently rotate between landscape and portrait view.
i agree, the trick works on certain roms.
on a similar note:if you set auto-rotate on but your phoen doesn't rotate...check your launcher settings. for quite some time...i've always wanted my home screen to rotate, but i realize i had my screen orientation settings set to 'potrait' of my launcher settings.
Hey Guys,
I'm having a weird issue where the screen brightness keeps changing itself every time I turn the screen off. I tried disabling Smart Actions & Automate It (tasker-like app), changing the brightness in the display setting, unchecking the display power saver option. In all cases if I set the brightness to 100% after turning the screen off and then on again the brightness will be down to like 10% or so, although the indicators I have will still tell me the screen is at 100%. Any ideas?
Thanks.

Me too, it only happens randomly though, i thought it had something to do with the"Lux" app i use to control brightness.
Do u use any screen protectors? It could b interfering with the light sensor

There is a screen protector but this is happening when brightness is not set to Auto. It's set to 80% and every time I hit the power button and then turn the screen back on it dims to like 0-10%. I've tried closing all running processes and it still happens. I also tried resetting the phone and it initially wasn't doing this but once I setup all the programs it does, so it must be somehow related to a non-running process program configuration. Any ideas?
Thanks
Edit: Found out it was the Lightflow app, uninstalled it and no more brightness dimming issue.

interesting. I had that app installed for a while, maybe it messed something up that uninstalling didn't fix. I guess a hard reset is in my future. sigh.
the subject covers the problem, this happend after mm installed.. was a direct push from sony...
found a couple of threads about turning phone off, then docking then turning phone on. then undock. well now my lock screen goes into landscape kinda nice, but when i swipe up to unlock home screen is in portrait mode. would prefer home screen in landscape while charging. managed to find a app that forces it to work, but does not compress the home screen like the stock lolipop 5.2.1 i think it was, did.
beers
Yeah. This update (570) is as bad as the 5.0.2 build that came without X-Reality. No auto rotation, some sound enhacement features are missing and much more things that keep me from using Marshmallow for more than a full day.
Gee, I thought I was the only one having this issue. Yeah, it's so bad. Even on Facebook when I try to livestream while charging on dock, it's still in Portrait mode.
Hey Everyone,
I updated to Pie on my V30 (H932) after the flashable zip was released, and noticed this eco playback when I connect my phone to a USB C display. Oreo didn't have this, and I'm having a hard time finding whether this can be disabled or not. I would LOVE to disable it since it dims my display, and puts up a message about swiping to bring the phone out of eco playback mode. There is an option to tap a floating icon and choose to keep the screen on, but it seems to randomly revert back to dimming the screen when idle (watching a video on the external display). As of me posting this, the icon is actually stuck on (icon is still on my screen after disconnecting the display), and I'm sure it will go away after rebooting my phone, but I'm not wanting to reboot right at this time. Does anyone know if this can be disabled? Thanks in advance!
EDIT: Oh, and just another note, the big reason I'm hoping that this can be disabled is that when I'm using the USB C display, I also have a bluetooth mouse and keyboard connected and in closer reach than my phone is, and when the eco playback message is on the screen, you're not able to click anything until you swipe or click and drag to the side to clear the message.
