the hardware of mi8 is compatible with 4g+ or LTE advanced.

In the screenshot as you see i've a lte+
I'm from Rome and the second SIM is a Vodafone (on first SIM i've never seen lte+ and is a TIM)

I'm in Indonesia and I can confirm that I have 4G+ enabled by default for both SIM slots. I'm using Telkomsel and Indosat and both of them confirmed works on 4G+ when the networks are available.

The point is that in some countries intra band doesn't work, so now on mi8 i haven't 4g+ where i had 4g+ with other phones. That's it.
In some places and with specular phone operators it reaches 4g+, but it is another story.

Because in your country Xiaomi pay licenses at Qualcomm, not in mine where mi8 is sold officially.

I just know that Xiaomi paid some licenses to Qualcomm in order to enable the 4G+ support in Indonesia

Cleared situation some posts above.
This kind of answer is useless for the cause.
If you stay in your city good for you.
The problem is intra band and it's real.
