Does fastboot oem unlock work? - Xiaomi Poco F1 Questions & Answers

So long story short: A friend of mine got himself this phone and I had thought about Google Searching on how to unlock this phone's boot loader. That said I came across tutorials where people had to create a MI account, use something along the lines of *cough *cough "The Klaud" and even had to wait a couple of days.
Since I've had the easy experience with "fastboot oem unlock" I was wondering if the same works for this Poco F1, thus bringing you the question from the thread's title.

Fraid not. It's mi servers or nowt (all pretty painless and frankly anticlimactic when you actually do it! Hmm... I could almost be talking about something else there...)

Easier Boot Loader unlock. No Token needed.

So from what I understand, either HTC or AT&T has plans of dicking over the populous when it comes to the bootloader. Maybe they will, maybe they won't. I don't have any updates on the issue so i don't know if it's happened yet or not. In any case, if you end up in a situation where you cannot obtain the unlock token from HTC for the bootloader, try out Unlock Phone Bootloader by Unlock Root. I personally have used Unlock Root time and time again to root and unroot my old LG MyTouch and my husband's Q with no issues. No need to use command prompt. Just plug in your phone to your comp, enable USB debugging and hit start once the program is on it way. I completely forgot about the bootloader program during the whole process of obtaining drivers and getting ADB and what not. I only remembered just now becaue I'm fixing to root my phone and wanted to see if Unlock Root supported our phone. It's new to the US market, but not the international. So I didn't use the Unlock Bootloader. But, if i ever have to turn this phone in for whatever horrible reason, I'll keep this in mind for myself.
Anyways, Get the program. Give it a shot. It's literally really easy to use. No drivers and command prompts and the like. I'm about to root my phone with the UR program, if it's supported. Have fun. And post if the UB program was actually a success.

Hogwash. OP should know better than to post methods not tested on the device in discussion.

You cannot use the same partition hacks that were used on the previous HTC models.

Not spam clowns. I'm that good at selling a product. Do what you want, it was a suggestion. I said try it. If it worked, post it so others will know and feel comfortable trying it out. Or don't try it. I could give ZERO ***** what you do.
And by the way, this OP says you can't know if something works if you don't test it first. Someone has to test it. Just like trying out a new hack, or ROM or even an app, is all testing. You know, that thing called Beta testing? But what do I know, right? I've only been Rooting and romming for 2.5 years.

And Oh Nos for someone taking the time to make a program that compiles all the "hard work" into one place and makes it easier for many to root their devices, especially those who run into issues like getting ADB to sync on their comps or figure out what SDK files to use. And "bad developer" for charging a fee for their hard work in making said program. Some people ask for donations. You pay for full version apps in the Play Store when you really like the Lite versions. Bad, Bad developer for embracing capitalism. Providing a service and charging a fee. But wait! Unlock Phone and Unlock Root are both FREE unless your phone falls under some special circumstance that requires the "full version".

Its a shame you've been rooting and romming that long yet you're still such a noob, not to phones but to the community in general.
No one is against capital at least not the ones you directed that at in this thread.
If I donate my time to build something that I release for free, because I want to do something for the community, and then someone else decides to use my work and my code and sell it for profit, that's stealing my work and selling it as their own.
All that aside I just plain don't like things such as these because people who couldn't find the instructions and run ADB or use the sdk don't need to be unlocking their bootloaders.
I spend a few hours a night teaching users how to use ADB and fastboot, helping with remote troubleshooting. I also spend a couple more hours answering questions. I could easily charge a small fee send them a script or remotely do it for them and cut them loose. But I enjoy this community and the more people who learn the fundamentals the better the community is. The last thing I want to do is capitalize on something which has the ill effect of me surrounding myself with a bunch of uneducated helpless noobs who will screw things up royally, because a large portion of those users will commit warranty or insurance fraud simply because they don't have the ability to pull a logcat.
I'm a greedy bastard I put in about 70 hours a week with my businesses so I can work my way to the top. I have no problem with capitalism. But there is a place for ethics in capitalism and without it, things go downhill.
I didn't mean to sound to harsh, but when I know the sacrifices some of the people like beaups and jcase have made such as spending thousands of dollars on hardware to get the process to a point its safe and anyone who can read directions can achive unlock, it irks me to see someone jump on their case or put quotation marks to insinuate their hard work is something other than coming home from the real job and sacrificing sleep, family, and social obligations just to better the community as a whole.
I know you didn't realize the hornets nest you were about to uncover, and I hope readers realize I don't have malicious intent.

A) wont work on this phone, if it does then its just grabbing a token from HTC and unlocking like another chinese program out there is doing
B) its a thief's program, stealing work from people like me.

Looking for someone with an Huawei "Phone Account", please help!

Hey guys,
i'm looking for someone with a Huawei "Phone Account", and is willing to help me generate my bootloader unlock code
i am from Germany and can't register a "Phone Account" with my phone number.
i desperately hope there is someone that is willing to help me, just post here and i'll provide the necessary information via pm!

At the risk of sounding silly, do some Googling on this one. What you're asking for is a little sketchy, but there's a large enough community of tinkers for Huawei since they've penetrated the North American market. You may have to google translate some of the foreign resources.
Googling for what exactly? i googled for days, and didn't find any way, despite sending an email to [email protected], which i did 6 times, starting five weeks ago, and havent got ANY sort of reply so please be a bit more specific

Had any luck? I'm in the same boat -- it seems since the online boot code unlocker tool has gone live, Huawei has quit answering emails requesting a code (I've sent too many requests to count, for weeks now and gotten nothing back). But, just like you, I don't have a phone number that is eligible to register as a "phone account," and so the tool is useless.
I'm getting pretty close to ordering a cheap SIM from a country from which Huawei allows phone accounts to be registered.
EDIT: I managed it, just now. The key was to use the Chinese version of the unlock website ( h t t p://emui.huawei.com/cn/plugin.php?id=unlock&mod=detail ) -- this version doesn't require a product ID, and it doesn't even seem to matter what device you pick from the dropdown -- it just calculates the code from the SN and the IMEI (at least, for me, running it multiple times picking different devices but putting in the same SN and IMEI generated the same code each time; YMMV). Google translate does an EXCELLENT job on the page text, and it was super simple.

Dude, i'm sorry i didn't already respond here with my solution... actually, i have no idea if it was just luck, or if they have changed their system because of my e-mail-spam-campaign
So, this is how it worked for me! You go here: http://www.emui.com/plugin.php?id=unlock&mod=detail
1st: browser to http://www.emui.com/plugin.php?id=unlock&mod=detail
You should be landing directly on the unlock page!
---> don't change the language!! keep it chinese, or whatever kind of language that is ^^
---> don't user googe translater!
2nd: select the second element (from top to bottom) in the first box
3.: You select the model "HUAWEI Y300-0000"
4.: in the first box you enter your S/N
5. in the second your IMEI
6. in the third you enter the captcha
now send a prayer to god, and press the green button...
thats it, s if they ask for your account, then just use the normal account, which you probably already have
soo.... din't get any sleep the last two nights... cheers!
EDIT: Wow, i was that tired yesterday, i didn't even notice that i wrote Denglish (= German + English) sorry
i have corrected the post now, please let me know if you had success!
And don't hesitate to send me a PM with your data, if it doesn't work for you, i'll try it and do my best - know what you're going through man, i was at the same point, also even considering buying a foreign SIM just for this crap! And out of sheer frustration, i tryed it for the millionth time, and out of nowhere suddenly it worked... i couldn't believe it!
If it doesn't work for you, and i can generate your code for you, i'll write a webpage, which uses my account to help others that are stuck in the same dilemma...
well unfortunately, my device still won't boot, i can flash what i want, it shows me "Func NO : 12 (FUNC_LOAD_IOM3)" and i found almost no information about what it even means...

Hey, no worries! As I edited my earlier comment to say, I got it, using a variation of what you described as your process. Thanks a ton for your write up though -- hopefully it will also help the next person, because this is clearly a common problem.
I feel the same as you, that now that I've gotten it to work I want to make sure other people manage it as well -- a web page or new post with detailed instructions in the manufacturer specific forum...I dunno.

Ugh, sorry mate. Again I'm in a similar (though more common, and potentially less dire) boat: I can flash what I want, but I'm in a bootloop, only able to boot into recovery. Oh well...progress, right?
Good luck!

I'm glad you managed it! even with my writeup in total doze, couldnt even hold my eyes open (i think i actually fell asleep while writeing it a couple times xD) where i switched between languages,
and wrote half sentences but i wanted to get it out to you asap, to end your suffering
to your bootloop problem:
Well you're close, actually falshing a full image (B127 for example) should do the trick... if not, try to find out why the device is rebooting ( -> errorlogs)
to my problem: well, i cant even get into recovery, all i got atm is fastboot... the only thing the search revealed about the error i'm getting is, that this has something to do whith some kind of sensor(s), i guess i damaged a partition which holds some kind of firmware/driver for some kind of sensor...
BUT: i have a Riffbox, so my last resort is flashing via JTAG, but unfortunatley the Mate 7 isn't supported at the moment, and i didn't get a response when i asked them to help me build a ressurrector for it... :/

[News] 2 months wait period to unlock bootloader

https://www.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-2-month-wait-unlock-bootloader/
The situation is getting worst after we had hard time request for EDL, and now unlock BL with 2 months wait period.
I'm kind of disappointed with this rule.
What do you think?
Last Xiaomi for me, after the policy of not allowed to lock bootloader with global rom and now 1400 hrs of waiting. Next phone for me Oneplus for sure.
Also better quality control, this phone have vertical color banding.
Very bad decision from Xiaomi, you see on every forum hundreds of bricked phones from Xiaomi because of not communicating this with their customers.
A damn shame, a company that abuse their customers like that is just incredible!
Also almost no development, the forums are just filled with people who are asking for help for their bricked phones.
Just insane!

You're absolutely right. If I have to wait for 2 months id something goes wrong with my phone why don't save money for two months and buy a Samsung note 9?
What is Chinese mentality don't know. It is Android Open Source Platform!!! Huawei also doing sheet!!!
My first imported handset, my first Xiaomi. And I'm already totally disappointed!
Yo can reduce it a little bit if you first flash a beta ROM

I've imported quite a few huawei, this will be my last import from china with all this going on.
Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but does anyone have a guide to rooting the Mi 8? Don't need a custom ROM, just want root access (I assume this still enables OTA update from Xiaomi?) All the guides I can find are from random websites and months ago when the phone wasn't even available worldwide yet.
I TRIED IT TODAY TO RE-UNLOCK ( UNLOCK ONE BY SELLER ) 720hrs

Updating my G5 but too 'noob' to do it

Right. I'm sorry to have to post this up but I'm out of options and time.
Before I shell out £500+ on a new premium phone which I normally do every few years I thought I'd try and re use my old phone as I'm now old and hate spending money.
I've replaced some tired parts from my old g5 and it's looking good again.
It's running Android 8.0 which I believe was the last official update for it?
I'd like to get android 10 on it as I'm a big vanilla Google fan and my research led me to lineage18?
Read a few posts, installed ADB/fastboot on my Windows 10 laptop. Got lost, watched some videos, got confused and then frustrated and I'm now at the point where I advertise the phone on eBay and uninstall the stuff on my laptop and just buy a new phone.
The problem is I'm a 40 year old father with 2 babies and **** all time. It takes me ages to get my head round stuff and when I've only got 10 mins before one of them wakes in an evening I'm back to square one and even more pissed off I don't understand it.
Sorry for the sympathy hunting rant, but really would prefer to chuck someone some cash to get this done. The stubbornness in me wants to succeed though. So anyone who wants some £££ speak up. Anyone who can also link up specific instructions would also be appreciated. Remember, I don't understand jargon, abbreviations and I haven't used a pc properly in 5 years and where I was once pretty good at building my own gaming pc I'm now a full time consumer who needs spoon feeding instructions like a toddler (Apple iPhone user) because I'm so impatient.
One video I found which had the most detail in for setting up the install and then putting it on your phone assumed I'd done it before. Which should explain my problem better. I need my hand held, I need to be able to pause and repeat. Don't tell me to "open the command prompt" then move onto the next task because I'll spend 40 minutes googling how to do that. Heck I'd even consider allowing someone to remotely connect to my laptop to do it while I watch.
I hope this post isn't too pathetic, I really like this phone and have had it since it was released, but will understand if it seems too much work.
I really am looking forward to the day my kids are old enough to entertain themselves and I can think straight for more than 5 minutes at a time
Thanks in advance
@theblueflash you don't say which phone exactly you've got.
For H850 you can get unlock codes from LG easily.
I know (and did on three H850) how to unlock the bootloader (kind of BIOS like on PCs).
Without ADB and Fastboot you can't do it so you gotta find someone.
Mine is running now on Android 11.
I attach 2 files which are not up-to-date but describe very good what to do.
There is not more to do exept take a newer TWRP and (if root needed) Magisk instead of SuperSU.
But it will take longer than 5 minutes.

Question Unlocking Bootloader?

Maybe I missed it somewhere in these forums, but I really want a comprehensive guide to unlocking the bootloader so I can install Lineage on the T-Mobile (GN2200) variant of the OnePlus Nord N20 5G (if it's even possible). I have OEM unlock enabled, but no way of enabling Fastboot or anything else. I've more or less hit a wall and I'm not quite sure what to do.
Well first and foremost, you need to submit an application to receive a.n unlock token if you're with T-Mobile .

I have a sort of "cooldown" time before I get a token (due to how recently I purchased the phone). What action would I normally take following that?
It's takes 7 days after the application submission before you'll receive said token anyhow..

I had a very interesting morning with OnePlus. It's my opinion they have been hacked. I have my bin file and went to the official link the Rep supplied to me only to try and download the test.apk...wel it installed some PsyxRay wallpaper app. I went right back to chat and informed them if this. I asked if the app was harmful as I got it from there official URL. He quickly with out checking or missing a beat said no. I will attach the link. Use caution, I don't know if it's ok or not. Ihe said it was ok he kept assuring me. I asked him why is it not a OnePlus app of which he really didn't have an answer. They told me to check back in 30 minutes. I fully intend to. If they have been hacked this is huge news that I discovered and what's even worse when confronted, if they were hacked are lying to their customers... I have the entire conversation. I have to clio together the screen shots. I will post in 10 or so minutes.
