Hey guys! I am totally new to this forum. I have an Unlocked HTC hero and I am using T-Mobile on it. I wanted to ask you all how can i install 1.6 rom on the HTC hero and if that is not possible how can i get information about the latest rom on the HTC hero. ALSO. i heard a lot of information about MODACO and other roms. IS there any step by step guide or any youtube video that will help me install these roms. Your advice will be much appreciated. Thank You
Please view the Hero Android Development sub-forum for available ROMs for the GSM Hero, most of which have installation guides.
Hi guys.
So recently i got my very first touch phone.
I've had a sony ericsson w800i for like 6-7 years now.
So i'm really all new to the entire touchmobile scene and stuff.
Rooting sounds interesting, but i have no idea if i can even do it on my mobile, let alone do it without bricking the phone.
Now i got a lot of questions and rooting does sound interesting.
But i was still hoping people here could maybe guide a new guy in the right direction?
I've read this article : Erhm, can't post links yet it seems. But it was the link to a wiki article about why one should root his phone.
and it sounds very good.
My phone model is: HTC Hero
Firmware: 1.50
Basebandversion: 63.18.55.06EU:6.35.06.18
Kernal system: 2.6.27-8dd6deee
Version: 2.73.405.6 CL#61267 release-keys
softwareversion: 1.0.0.A6288
Can i root my phone?
I'm not bound to any telemarketing company or anything. The phone itself is not from vodafone or anything of likes.
And also, if i do decide to root my phone, would i be able to install the 2.1 sense update thats scheduled for the htc hero something in april(hopefully)?
Best regards
Kuresu
Im also new here, been reading up on Android for a while though.
What i can say for sure is, YES, you can definately root your Hero. There are are number of different guides on here.
And secondly, rooting shouldn't affect you being able to get the 2.1 update once it is available, infact, if you root, youe can try 2.1 roms NOW.
A good place to start is the "XDA-Wiki", there is a link on the brown bar near the top of the page. Once you have clicked that link, on the new page it brings up, go about half way down the page to the HTC section, click "HERO". On that page, under "rooting" there is a link called "Method 1 - Dayzee's NEWBIE Walkthrough guide". That should be all the info you need. I have not done it myself yet, my new Hero should be delivered tomorrow.
Good luck!
Thanks a bunch Ddot.
Have you gotten your phone yet?
Did you root yours?
Theunlockr.com is a great source for rooting etc (newbies are often pointed to that site)

Yep yep yep,... It was delivered last Friday,... I haven't put it down since!!!
Yeah I rooted mine,... Followed this guide,... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=645253 ...Then installed the latest Modaco Custom ROM.
I decided not to play with the 2.1 ROMs as there were a few bugs reported.
The Modaco ROM is excellent, no complaints about the phone whatsoever. Now patiently waiting for an official 2.1 ROM.
If there's anything else you need to know, ask away, I've learnt a lot this past week, and if I cant help, there are plenty of others ready , willing and able.
P.S,... Apologies for the late reply, I didn't subscribe to the thread so wasn't notified of replies. I'll do it now though.
Peace
My grandson just gave me an unlocked HTC HD2 device with Desire 2.2 android already installed on the nand and don't know how to move on with this device as it is my very first android/windows mobile device.
After much searching I came across this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1089768 which seemed to be similar to mine and after reading the very helpful post in the first reply I am stuck on what to do.
I basically want to upgrade to the newest software available for the HTC HD2 and has everything or most function working. If possible I want to wipe everything to brand new and start afresh with something new. Can someone please give me a nod in the right direction as to where to start as this already has desire android on it and it is confusing? I will really appreciate the help I can get. Sorry if I sound very noobish. Thanks in advance
someone please help me with this is almost buried on page 5
After searching the forums endlessly for an answer to bypassing this demo mode fiasco I'm having I found one topic discussing it, but they weren't particular about anything and only stated the person needing help would need to boot their HTC Radar with a retail ROM.
Does anyone have thorough information or a step by step how-to for booting an HTC Radar with its retail ROM or any ROM that would bypass the demo ROM? Any help is appreciated. If you could provide me with a ROM I'd appreciate that as well.
Hi, im sorry for question but i'm new to this, so can anyone give me link on how to flash new rom for HTC Titan X319e Windows Phone 7.8. I am noob so i need walk tutorial :S ty
Hello! Go to the development section for Titan, where there is a list of roms. Click on the Sianto edition rom and go to page 2 of the thread, scroll down a bit and someone asks the same question as you, and the developer very kindly gives a step by step guide. This is how I flashed my first rom on my Titan a few months ago for the first time. You won't have any probs if you follow each step. Hope this helps.

A couple of more things...if you're interested in HSPL your device one caveat, not all the Titan (Eternity) devices will successfully HSPL, I'm told the internal memory is the problem; I was able to successfully HSPL two of my devices, but it's not a guarantee thing. If you're interested in stock, that is the easier path to follow and of course, you can use Cab Sender to set those files up.
