Hi,
I just got a Mediapad M5.
In Thailand, AppTwin allows only LINE app.
I heard that outside China, Huawei enable Facebook and WhatApp, while in China, Vchat something.
I do not understand what the problem Huawei face in enabling/disabling certain apps.
Why cannot Huawei let the user choose one or two apps in AppTwin by himself/herself?
Is there a way to work around this limitation?
I searched and found one guide but it does not work any more with new firmware (by using adb command).
The way that Huawei choose to enble certain apps in certain regions means that the app can be chosen and changed.
Could someone please give me a guide how to?
Thank you.

I find that Huawei's own AppTwin is very limited, it will not even clone FBM Lite.
I tried to install Parallel Space and it does not work with my M5 (some people seem to work).
I tried App Cloner instead and it works.
So my suggestion is if you have no luck with Huawei AppTwin, try another app instead.

Is there a way to buy apps from android market from a country that is not listed on google's supported countries list without rooting the phone? Maybe an alternative market or something like that?
yes, I would suggest you purchase it through your pc and then push it to your phone to install.
You can use the search button to find apps on different sites.
You should be aware that apps bought that are from different sites that are not google approved may not work or cause damage to your phone.
Do not worry about apks found on other sites than Google's official ones. If the application is listed in market you should only check that you are really installing the app you want, not something with a fake name. Also check permissions (should be the same as market app). So the good sense before pushing the install button is the only thing you need. Also I recomend Bitdefender security app which is cloud based and has an on install scanner. It is very effective and does not drain your resources.
Hi i wanted enable the google assistant on my phone, but it says it is not supported in my language. And as soon as i change language to english, and remove google app data and google services data, i can use assistant. But then whole system, and every app is in the english, and i does not like that. So is there any way to fake language setting only for google app, and have my own laguage setted globally? Or is there any other way to have assistant in any language? I have root, etc. so you can suggest.
Thanks!

There's only a few ways a Language/Locale can be changed for a specific app but, keep in mind that this depends on how and/or where, within the app, the Language/Locale is being called for. Some apps use this within a single point and some apps call for it within more than one area of the app itself.
There's XPosed Modules that have this feature/ability that's specific to or one of its various abilities.
The following is just an example of a few of them...
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3539878
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2437377
There's also the option to use Apktool to manually make these changes yourself before installing the app.
The following is just an example of a few URL's that discusses this...
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/2264874/changing-locale-within-the-app-itself
https://discuss.appium.io/t/how-to-changing-app-language/10726
These are just some suggestions and I personally can't help you do this since I've never needed to myself.
This can be simple for some apps and can be a bit more involved but, I just provided you with a good start for what you may be looking for.
I wish you the best of luck!

I purchased a Huawei MediaPad M5 8.4 (SHT-W09) about a week ago. I've been generally happy with it so far except for one minor complaint.
I HATE the Huawei Share dialog that pops up when I try to share from most apps. To be honest, I'm not a huge fan of the default Android share menu either. On my previous tablet (Nvidia Shield) I was using Fliktu so I could customize the sharing options for most of my apps. (Google's failure to enforce a standard sharing dialog across Android is another thing that annoys me, but that's off-topic here.)
On my new MediaPad, I can install Fliktu, but I have been unable to figure out how to force the tablet to use it as the default share application. It just continues to use the Huawei Share dialog no matter what I try changing with Fliktu. Has anyone found a way to override the default sharing app on the MediaPad so I can use a different solution (like Fliktu)?
I have been considering trying to use the steps outlined in this post to try uninstalling Huawei Share from the tablet:
https://www.xda-developers.com/uninstall-carrier-oem-bloatware-without-root-access/
But, I'm concerned that going that route could have unintentional consequences or break something else, so I thought I'd check here first to see if anyone had any suggestions or input.
Thanks!
The Xiaomi Home app suffers from a problem with PUSH notifications not working. It is likely that the problem has been present for many years.
The problem is well known and widely commented on the internet both on forums and in comments on Google Play. For example https://c.mi.com/thread-3056817-1-0.html
At least part of the problem is due to the smartphone shutting down Xiaomi Home to save energy. Nevertheless, a large number of the reports come from people who are aware of how to configure the smartphone to not close the app.
An example of such a post accurately describing the problem is https://community.oneplus.com/thread?id=1455606
Searching the Internet, I discovered that people from all over the world are experiencing this problem. I found the problem described in English, French, Spanish and Italian forums. Interestingly, it also affects Xiaomi smartphone users. Multi-screen discussion and unfortunately no solutions.
My observations - PUSH notifications work on Bluestack (Android 7.x)
Xiaomi does not seem to notice the mentioned problem. I write on the XDA Forums because there are people here who have a good understanding of how Android works.
Questions for you guys:
- How to debug the problem to draw any conclusions? Determine what is failing.
- Is it possible that the problem is due to some kind of US/China sanctions?
- I have heard that PUSH notifications work differently on the Chinese market, they don't use Google's dedicated service there. Could this be related?
As far as I know, PUSH notifications do work differently on the Chinese market. The GCM/FCM as well as other Google's dedicated services do not work.
Possibly. However, it still seems very strange to me that Xiaomi sells devices tailored to, for example, the European market, has European servers and the app distributed by Google Play uses the PUSH system operating in the Chinese market.
Sounds quite unlikely, given the huge popularity of Xiaomi hardware outside China.
However, if this is true then Xiaomi Home probably supports only MiPush http://mipush.global.xiaomi.com/ so we would need something like a wrapper for MiPush to send notifications to GCM/FCM. Unfortunately I'm not an Android developer.
It still puzzles me why I was getting notifications from Xiaomi Home on Bluestacks 4 running Android 7.x. It looks like some mechanism compatible with other markets is implemented - just not working with newer Android?
Additional information: Notifications work on Xiaomi Mi 6 - Android 9
i have same issue.
any solution yet ?
i followed all steps in this video twice and didnt work
None of the old solutions work. Xiaomi Home does not like some regions. For example, European Android devices (from version 10 I think) present themselves with the region 'eea'. Xiaomi Home does not accept this ( three-letter problem?) region - initiating push notifications crashes, as you can see in the logs (see link below).
I think the closest to solving the problem is this answer https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/missing-push-notifications.4133417/
You can of course change the region in Android, but this requires root and is rather pointless. Other apps may not work properly.
I suppose it would take 1 day to fix the app. Why hasn't Xiaomi fixed this for several years? It remains a mystery.
If anyone knows a way to change the region without root, just for one application then please let me know.
Any solution yet? Still no notifications with oneplus 9 pro and android 13. I have done any "fix" I have found and nothing.
Hi,
I bought a Mi Pad 5 Pro 5G and I think I can see how much I hurried up. There is no Global version. In CN ROM only English and I would prefer Polish.
What's happening? Does any of you know if Xiaomi has any plans to do something with this model?
Do I have any system alternative? Maybe a pure android ... I have not found anything on the internet for this model to be uploaded. Please help!
I'm a bit broken
(sorry for my bad english)
You can find a couple of threads about GSIs on the Pad 5 (non Pro) forum. People (incl myself) have had some success in installing some GSIs on the Pro model too. You can't use the Xiaomi pen on a GSI (or custom ROM I think), however, which is a massive downside to some people.
Yes I think the software development for this tablet is really slow. It's no-one's fault. I used to own Mi Pad 4 and they had a huge range of custom ROMs available. I optimistically assumed it would be the same for Pad 5. I was so wrong... If the stock ROM (MIUI) was half decent, we wouldn't need volunteer developers. Such a shame.
If I had read more about how bad it is with the Pro version - I would buy something from the competition, such as Samsung. A bit of money wasted because I have equipment with potential, but soft kills it. I hope that something will move with the next android, for example 13. Shame for Xiaomi for treating customers in such a way. I do not understand the lack of a Global version. I bought a device from China, paying all taxes. Feels like cheated.

Without sounding like an asshole. If you did a little research on this forum or even google searched about the pad 5 pro before buying it, you would have avoided buying a device not suitable for you.
It was well documented that the Pro version was available only in China and didn't support all languages.
No need to feel cheated, you just failed to research the specifications.
As far as development for this device, I would contact people working on Poco F4 roms. It's basically a pad 5 pro with a small screen. I'm sure they could cook something up.

Thanks for the info. I will look for. Regards.
Is there any way to upload the Polish language to the Chinese firmware on the CN of the Mi Pad 5 Pro 5G? Currently, there is only Chinese and English and the Global version is not available and probably will not be.
Are Google services on Chinese ROM working properly?

Everything works with google. Just have to set the permissions correctly for Google apps.
Chrome translates perfectly and even assistant works in different spoken languages.
Download Gboard keyboard and everything will work.

Make sure you set google to always allow otherwise the MIUI privacy protection will block all sorts of settings and add ons. It returns blank messages to google so you can't sign in.
This has frustrated a lot of users.
You can try an app called MoreLocale 2 (available on Google Play Store or GitHub) to use a language other than the specified ones on the MIUI Chinese ROM. It changes the locale setting. I can't remember if your device needs to be rooted or not. I haven't tried myself, but I have read a few people saying they could get Japanese available on some (but not all) apps and system menus. Polish is probably available too, but you'd better check. You need to execute some adb command to get it work.
GitHub - c-lis/morelocale: This application will change system locale and country setting.

First of all, the device does not need to be rooted. The disadvantage of this solution is that you have to set the language again after every restart. But I found another solution:
It is even better than MoreLocal2 if you change the language in the Android language menu. The so called AOSP Dashboard is accessible via Apps like "Activity Launcher" or "MIUI Downloader" (Both on Playstore, I suggest Activity Launcher).
For Activity Launcher: Open app and search for "SystemDashboard", then open "com.android.settings.Settings$SystemDashboardActivity"
This way you get the same result as with MoreLocal, but 1. you don't have to set something after every restart, 2. you don't have an unnecessary app because you can uninstall it and 3. you don't have to assign authorizations, since everything runs in system dialogs.
* I use my Mi Pad 5 Pro with this solution.
** With "same result" I mean a mixture of English and target language. MIUI apps / system apps mostly but not always remain in English. Everything else should be in the target language if the apps support it.
