I purchased a Huawei MediaPad M5 8.4 (SHT-W09) about a week ago. I've been generally happy with it so far except for one minor complaint.
I HATE the Huawei Share dialog that pops up when I try to share from most apps. To be honest, I'm not a huge fan of the default Android share menu either. On my previous tablet (Nvidia Shield) I was using Fliktu so I could customize the sharing options for most of my apps. (Google's failure to enforce a standard sharing dialog across Android is another thing that annoys me, but that's off-topic here.)
On my new MediaPad, I can install Fliktu, but I have been unable to figure out how to force the tablet to use it as the default share application. It just continues to use the Huawei Share dialog no matter what I try changing with Fliktu. Has anyone found a way to override the default sharing app on the MediaPad so I can use a different solution (like Fliktu)?
I have been considering trying to use the steps outlined in this post to try uninstalling Huawei Share from the tablet:
https://www.xda-developers.com/uninstall-carrier-oem-bloatware-without-root-access/
But, I'm concerned that going that route could have unintentional consequences or break something else, so I thought I'd check here first to see if anyone had any suggestions or input.
Thanks!

Hi everyone! First of all sorry for my english, second, I'm here because I've a big problem.
I need to lend some tablets to some friends for testing an app. The problem is that I don't complete trust in them (or they are too smart or they aren't very familiar with digital products), so I'm afraid that they can make some trouble voluntarily or not.
I'm searching for something that can block the access to determinate applications of the tablet (for example: phone, settings or other installed apps) and the install of new app. Something like a limited user of the tablet, that allowed you to running only some default apps.
I've tried to test some apps that allow you to open the app just by entering a code or a sequence, but they aren't very safe. I always find a way to bypass them. Moreover this type of application don't block the install of new app.
Do you have any solution? What can I do to create this sort of "Limited User"?
Thanks to everyone
You could try the app called "SwitchMe". It should be able to help.
Hello Friends,
My name is Ivaylo and I am new to the forum. I decided to make a registration, because I wanted to ask for some help from you guys. For the past few weeks, I have been looking for an app that can help me protect my personal information (Facebook, Phone gallery, Call logs, etc.) on my smartphone (currently using Samsung Galaxy S5). I have tried quite a few free apps from Google Play such as AppLock, Smart AppLock and the like. Among those, I came across this app called Privacy Ace. To be honest, I liked the design and interface of Privacy Ace. Both very pretty simple and user friendly. On the other hand the other apps I tried (i.e. Smart AppLock) offer more features (i.e. 'Observer' feature; if someone tries to access your phone and enters the wrong password a few times, the app takes a picture of that person and later on you can see who has tried to break into your phone). However Smart AppLock, for example, has kind of a clustered interface. It was really difficult for me to find out how to use the various features of the app. I really got frustrated while trying to figure out how to use it. I am not the most intelligent person, but I know how to use smartphones, if you know what I mean. Still I am looking for something that is simple to use and can get the job done.
So my question basically is: has anyone else tried Privacy Ace and is it any good? How is the app performance-wise? Should I give it a try? Feel free to suggest other apps of the same type too.
Thanks for the help in advance
Cheers
Ivaylo
Thx for reading, and please forgive my poor English.
The Greenify is the best app I had been used for cut-off apps. But I found that there are two problem:
(My phone is Xiaomi MI MIX 2S running MIUI 10 8.6.18 [Android O], with Greenify Version 4.1)
1. Can not create hibernation shortcut
When I tried to create a hibernation shortcut, the Greenify noticed that the creating was succeed. But I can not find out the shortcut in my launcher. Neither type of shortcut can be created. And I don't know why and how to fix it.
An additional detail:
when I used the permission manager to make sure that the Greenify need to request my approval to create a shortcut and then I tried to create a hibernation shortcut, there was no prompt box for requesting approval (Under normal circumstances there should be a prompt box). It seemed that somehow the Greenify did not work properly in shortcut creating.
2. Wake-up Tracker often disabled for unknown reasons
I enabled Wake-up Tracker and after a while I found that Wake-up Tracker had been disabled. Then I enabled again, after a while it had been disabled again.
Please tell me how to fix these problem, any guidance is appreciated.

I am surprised by the details furnished by you including device details, though it is your first post. Usually it is a case of "Unable to create shortcut, anyone has any idea" sort of posts that we encounter. Thanks for providing the details, though I may not be able to offer solutions.
I also faced the Wakeup Tracker issue before I uninstalled Greenify, so I have no solution for this.
Reg. the creation of shortcut, try clearing the data and cache of Greenify/uninstall and reinstall etc. If none of them work, MIUI may be an issue since it reportedly heavily modifies the Android OS.
Having said that, I would advice you to uninstall Greenify and use your phone for a couple of days. You may be surprised by the way the phone behaves even without Greenify.
I am one of the votaries of the belief (with reason) that apps like Greenify are not needed on Oreo since the OS itself behaves very well. Unless you specifically find some app misbehaving which can not be controlled without apps like Greenify, simply enjoy your device.

Yes, You may not know that, a huge of apps which developed by Chinese companies and provided to Chinese are designed strangely, they are trying their best to stay in background, call up each other and push AD messages in notification bar (sorry if I misspelled), and the companies have some agreements with Chinese OS provider such as Xiaomi to avoid killing their apps in background in Chinese version Android OS.
One of them is Alibaba, which has three most popular app in China, Taobao, Tmall and Alipay. But these three apps are designed to keep alive as much as possible and call up each other very frequently, just for push messages to introduce goods on Taobao and Alibaba's wide range of services, applications and merchandise. (BTW, I believe that a big part of app keep-alive technologies are developed by the programmers in Chinese companies.)
So maybe You can understand my pain. _зゝ∠)_

Greenify version? Rooted? Xposed?
For my device details see signature block.
I assume you don't require a video how to search the web. Such a serach with the keyworks "greenify", "help" and "adb" provides e.g. following page at the very top that most likely satisfies your needs.
Hi,
I just got a Mediapad M5.
In Thailand, AppTwin allows only LINE app.
I heard that outside China, Huawei enable Facebook and WhatApp, while in China, Vchat something.
I do not understand what the problem Huawei face in enabling/disabling certain apps.
Why cannot Huawei let the user choose one or two apps in AppTwin by himself/herself?
Is there a way to work around this limitation?
I searched and found one guide but it does not work any more with new firmware (by using adb command).
The way that Huawei choose to enble certain apps in certain regions means that the app can be chosen and changed.
Could someone please give me a guide how to?
Thank you.

I find that Huawei's own AppTwin is very limited, it will not even clone FBM Lite.
I tried to install Parallel Space and it does not work with my M5 (some people seem to work).
I tried App Cloner instead and it works.
So my suggestion is if you have no luck with Huawei AppTwin, try another app instead.
The Xiaomi Home app suffers from a problem with PUSH notifications not working. It is likely that the problem has been present for many years.
The problem is well known and widely commented on the internet both on forums and in comments on Google Play. For example https://c.mi.com/thread-3056817-1-0.html
At least part of the problem is due to the smartphone shutting down Xiaomi Home to save energy. Nevertheless, a large number of the reports come from people who are aware of how to configure the smartphone to not close the app.
An example of such a post accurately describing the problem is https://community.oneplus.com/thread?id=1455606
Searching the Internet, I discovered that people from all over the world are experiencing this problem. I found the problem described in English, French, Spanish and Italian forums. Interestingly, it also affects Xiaomi smartphone users. Multi-screen discussion and unfortunately no solutions.
My observations - PUSH notifications work on Bluestack (Android 7.x)
Xiaomi does not seem to notice the mentioned problem. I write on the XDA Forums because there are people here who have a good understanding of how Android works.
Questions for you guys:
- How to debug the problem to draw any conclusions? Determine what is failing.
- Is it possible that the problem is due to some kind of US/China sanctions?
- I have heard that PUSH notifications work differently on the Chinese market, they don't use Google's dedicated service there. Could this be related?
As far as I know, PUSH notifications do work differently on the Chinese market. The GCM/FCM as well as other Google's dedicated services do not work.
Possibly. However, it still seems very strange to me that Xiaomi sells devices tailored to, for example, the European market, has European servers and the app distributed by Google Play uses the PUSH system operating in the Chinese market.
Sounds quite unlikely, given the huge popularity of Xiaomi hardware outside China.
However, if this is true then Xiaomi Home probably supports only MiPush http://mipush.global.xiaomi.com/ so we would need something like a wrapper for MiPush to send notifications to GCM/FCM. Unfortunately I'm not an Android developer.
It still puzzles me why I was getting notifications from Xiaomi Home on Bluestacks 4 running Android 7.x. It looks like some mechanism compatible with other markets is implemented - just not working with newer Android?
Additional information: Notifications work on Xiaomi Mi 6 - Android 9
i have same issue.
any solution yet ?
i followed all steps in this video twice and didnt work
None of the old solutions work. Xiaomi Home does not like some regions. For example, European Android devices (from version 10 I think) present themselves with the region 'eea'. Xiaomi Home does not accept this ( three-letter problem?) region - initiating push notifications crashes, as you can see in the logs (see link below).
I think the closest to solving the problem is this answer https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/missing-push-notifications.4133417/
You can of course change the region in Android, but this requires root and is rather pointless. Other apps may not work properly.
I suppose it would take 1 day to fix the app. Why hasn't Xiaomi fixed this for several years? It remains a mystery.
If anyone knows a way to change the region without root, just for one application then please let me know.
Any solution yet? Still no notifications with oneplus 9 pro and android 13. I have done any "fix" I have found and nothing.
