Losing root after a couple of minutes - LG V30 Questions & Answers

Hi, something peculiar is happening: I successfully rooted my US998 V30+ several months ago and never had any issues. Since one/two weeks, after boot I suddently lose root - when the phone roots, magisk 17.1 works, greenify (with root) works, etc.. after a couple of minutes all root related stops working, Magisk tells me that it needs to be installed, greenify tells me that it needs a rooted phone to work..
is this related to a new version of magisk? Any suggestions on what to do?

Maybe related. Did you completely uninstall the older Magisk before installing the new one?

[Q] Heartbleed update - remove root?

Hello!
A few weeks ago, HTC sends me an update to fix the Heartbleed Bug from Android 4.1. On my device I have root and Xposed. If I install the update, would it remove my root and Xposed? It's my first Android Update after rooting
Thanks,
Weely_XD
I think you have to go back to full stock (Rom,recovery,bootloader locked) to update, so yes update remove root.
Could someone that installed this confirm if root was lost or not?
Thanks!
I will not be changed

of course not, but what about your phone, LOL
Well, I went ahead and installed the stock recovery and this OTA-update.
Everything seemed fine so I re-installed a new copy of TWRP (same version number as I had before)... Confused me totally. It was asking me to root again as soon as I quit recovery, which I did a few times... But I could never finish the installation of SuperSU. It always failed...
I was messing around with this for 2 days, until I for some reason tried to install TWRP from another "old" file I found on my computer (the exact same file I used when i rooted my phone the first time).
Now everything worked fine...
I guess the other recovery image was corrupt, incorrect, or something else...
Well, the mess was sorted out at least, and I still have root, did not have to reset my phone, and everything else seems to be OK.
Thanks! :good:

[Q] Any way to root Coolpad Torino S

I got Coolpad Torino S and was wondering if there's any way to get the root access. It's possibly named differently outside of Europe, model is Coolpad E561. Here's link to GSMArena http://www.gsmarena.com/coolpad_torino_s-7898.php
I have already tried KingRoot, but it was without any success.

Hi, i have the same coolpad and i´ve tried all Root tools but no success.
Maybe our smartphone is not public enough, no developers to get root / CWM or ROMs
We have to wait....
What Build did you have? I have updated yesterday to V30.

Yeah, I'm on the same V30 build, got the update a couple days ago. As you're the only other person I've ever seen to own this phone, I got to ask you - do you ever get issues with GPS? For me sometimes the GPS simply dies (can't see/find any satellites) and the only way to fix it is to force stop Play Store (found out by accident). Pretty sure it's a software issue, but not sure if it's only for me or for everyone.
any news about rooting coolpad torino s?
I did try various King Root versions, but none of them worked. Other one-click root apps seemed way too shady to install on the phone. Sadly I think there won't be any way to root this phone considering how unpopular it is.
I even contacted Coolpad EU customer service about root possibilities (I know some Chinese manufacturers allow root access), but after a quick response they completely stopped responding. Quite unprofessional from them, next time I will steer clear from Coolpad brand.

Just a quick update. Today I managed to get a root access with the latest Kingoroot app on a first try.
Initially I just wanted to remove bloatware like Zumei weather, Facebook, Touchpal and unroot because Kingoroot seemed quite shady, for some reason it connected to internet from time to time and phone seemed to work slower than it should.
BUT by sheer luck I managed to replace Kingo SuperUser with SuperSU. Basically what I did:
1. Root with Kingoroot and reboot;
2. Install SuperSU from Play store;
3. Remove Kingo SuperUser (it was installed when rooting with Kingoroot) and reboot;
4. Run SuperSU and update binaries -> normal;
5. It didn't work the first time, it was stuck on "Installing, please wait..." so I rebooted my phone and repeated 4th step;
6. This time it updated just fine, I removed Kingoroot, rebooted and had a root access.

Hi, thanks for this thread, but I do not work with the Kingroot, is it possible that some other program has come out, or do you know if there is anything else to root the Coolpad Torino S E561_EU?
Sorry for my English
Thanks in advance

Sorry, I've been away from XDA for some really long time. I used KingOroot not Kingroot. Also I forgot to mention, but you need to enable Developer Options and enable OEM unlocking there.
Though it's been some time since I last tried rooting, maybe Kingroot works now too.

march update

has anyone lost root updating to current this month? i know my v10 became an ad filled, stock navbar, paper weight after it's last forced update.
I'm curious about this as well.
I finally got around to rooting my Stylo 3 Plus for the first time over the weekend, after closely following the developments in this forum for the past 6 months. It took a lot of trial and error and reflashing of TWRP before I got the timing down right, but I finally got it rooted (using Magisk 15.2).
And of course, luck would have it that within a few hours of my rooting success, a new system update notification (which I had never heard of until now!), pops up and asks me to restart to install it. I am using Titanium Backup to force stop the particular Google service involved, which makes the notification go away and I can reboot without it upgrading. But it always come back within 24 hours or so.
Has anyone installed this update yet (MP45010f) and successfully re-rooted? I'm currently using Magisk 15.2 with systemless hosts, Ad-Away, and Xposed with Greenify & MinMinGuard enabled. I would welcome any advice on how to proceed after the update to restore root and continue using Ad-Away, Xposed, etc. Or even how to disable the update notification for good so I can stay on MP45010e a while longer.

I Installed the 10f update.
On the download page the date was listed as March something.
While updating with LG Bridge, it was listed as Feb 22.
After it was installed (update 10f for LGMP450) the security patch date was listed as Feb 01.
I rooted and installed TWRP (and removed RCTD). Everything seems fine.
I am reverting back to my old install. Because i have made a million little tweaks, that would take forever to redo on a new install. I just wanted to see if everything still works (and it appears it does).
PS - The first time i updated this phone (back around Oct2017) the LG Bridge erased my SD storage. This time it left all of my installed apps in place. Also, this appears to simply be a google security update. No firmware changes from LG.
I thought a system update wouldn't happen if youv done rooted your phone the only way back on the day was to reflash stock ROM to get the update

if you update using the LG Bridge computer program, it will update a rooted phone. but you will need to reroot afterward.

Thanks for testing this out. If you don't mind me asking, which method do you use to root? And do you also use Xposed?
To anyone else who might know, does everything Magisk- or Xposed-related get removed by the security updates (frameworks, modules, configs, etc)? Just trying to get an idea how many of my modules I should expect to reinstall and configure from scratch if I decide to update from 10e to 10f.

Yeah, I thought this was kind of weird too. I've never used LG Bridge to update. The notification just appeared on my phone shortly after rooting.
Is Xposed only for Magisk or can it be used on the rom, if so can I get a link to how to do so
LG Bridge

Im using Magisk 16.1 (no Xposed) and TWRP 3.2.1
I have not run into any issues.
It appears to simply be a security patch update.
I doubt it should cause any new headaches.
The original method still works to reroot and reinstall TWRP.
Using the LG Bridge program is about as easy as an update can be. You install it on your computer, plug your phone into the computer, and click "update" on the computer program. Its all automatic.

Bootloop after latest Magisk Update....now no root!

Bootloop after latest Magisk Update....now no root!
This popped up, so i updated.....been on that Rom for ages and i'm not a newbie....but 1 hour later STILL white LG logo!!!
pretty please help me out?
Not sure what to tell you, but I've been on 20.4 for a while now with no issues (VS996 if that matters).
I'd suggest going back into TWRP, reinstalling Magisk (maybe an older version like 18.3 as I've heard newer versions sometimes have issues), then letting Magisk update to 20.4 from there once you're back in. I recall that I think I had to do that when I first installed this ROM... I had to install Magisk a few times for it to "take". I may have even used Magisk Uninstaller before installing it the last time.

Global + Magisk

Has anyone got a working compination of Global or Euro version with magisk, or is the Magisk not working with this phone?
I flashed Glomal, Euro, etc and after pushed Magisk in, it all worked pretty good. But after 2 days or so, it just crashed. Anyone else same?
Without root it should work ok, but I need root.
