Dont think it is possible, the phone needs special hardware to make it work
are you talking about using your phones internet connection on your computer (usb tethering)?
See here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1051282
So I just saw a tweet about how on a SGS2 you can use a Samsung cord and are thus able to plug in USB devices. I had no idea you could do that, I knew with the Galaxy Nexus you could, but not the SGS2.
Is there any similar thing for the Amaze that anyone had heard of?

Are you talking about the USB micro/mini plug turning into a USB host port instead of a client port?
there have been hack up's for this since the N1 that even let you run a USB video card off of it (with a power adapter hacked into the USB line tho)... like this http://sven.killig.de/android/N1/2.2/usb_host/

Yea, that's what I'm talking about, but looking around online about the SGS2 all you need is that OTG cable and it works. This solution looks fairly intense, with changing the kernel and editing scripts... Thanks anyways, at least we know it's possible.
@faux said the USB OTG code is missing in the HTC kernel. so, either htc or someone write some code in the kernel or it won't happen.
Not sure if the Telus kernel is different but using the stock .config file, it seems OTG is enabled.
OTG support for Qualcomm on-chip USB controller (USB_MSM_OTG_72K) is what is enabled.
I have a stock Canadian Motorola Xoom running ICS 4.0.3
I did try to Google my question and search this entire site... no luck.
What will happen if I connect my Xoom to my XP (PC) using a Micro USB OTG cable? (a USB cable that support "Host Mode")
1. The Xoom will see the XP (PC) as a Massive Storage Device.
2. The XP (PC) will see the Xoom as a Massive Storage Device or as a MP3 player.
3. Both the Xoom and the PC will see each other as a Massive Storage Device.
4. A conflict will occur as both devices, Xoom and the XP (PC) will try to host each other.
5. Other (explain)
*I do know that ICS support OTG, and run really well with flash drives.
Thanks!
Intresting...
Why don't you do it once and let us know what happened?
I don't have a cable to test this but I'd guess you would get a conflict and neither device would recognize the other. Why would you want to do this anyway?

I order the OTG cable last week, it's not here yet. (maybe next week)
I have no idea how an OTG works, so it got me thinking...
- All I know is that OTG trigger the ICS to "host USB", but so the PC...

I want to connect my Xoom to my PC so I can copy some files over, and now wondering if I need another NON-OTG Micro USB to do so...
(or just keep using USB flash drive as a bridge, not super convenient...)
Any non OTG USB cable will do the trick. I think the Xoom only supports MTP, so make sure your computer supports that.

I posted originally in the thread that Deuce just closed while looking for guidance, but want to share something I found... I had originially bought USB-to-Micro USB cable to play USB speakers (which didn't require an AC adapter or other power source) for use with my phone while in the office or on the go; however, the phone doesn't acknowledge they're even plugged in. And that is with the phone on the most-recent- Sprint ICS stock update. BUT, they work with the Note 2 I upgraded to, which has JB, so I'm guessing it is a firmware thing. Anyway, just wanted to share that.
To use OTG on an Evo 3D, You must have a seperately powered OTG cable. The phone doesnt supply power to OTG devices, So it requires power from a charger or a portable USB powerpack.
Your phone must also have a kernel that supports Host mode to use OTG.
I'm guessing the JB kernel does then, as they work on the stock Note 2. Thanks for the info!

No it's just that the evo doesn't supply current to the usb so it doesn't work like a "standard" usb device that supplies 5v.Kernel cannot change that afaik
I read this:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=59018285&postcount=2
So, USB is supported in the kernel basically? Any chance to make it work? And is it perhaps possible to get USB OTG via powered OTG Y-adapter cable?

Nope - several have tried convinced they could make some headway. Not going anywhere with existing proprietary kernel.
Ashame Amazon disabled OTG but (potentially profitable) cloud storage was all the rage in the early 2010s when this gizmo was conceived. Didn't want to spoil the party with cheap local storage which also raises DRM issues.
