Hey guys, I just saw the EMUI 9 update dropped today. I have a rebranded ALP-L00 to ALP-L29 Mate 10 and is wondering how to flash the update? I typically use HuRu updater with TWRP to flash updates before, but the new EMUI 9 update only has two of the three files (update.zip & update_full_ALP-L29_hw_spcseas.zip)
View attachment 4620196
Is there anyone who knows how to manually flash the EMUI 9 update?
Thanks!

Do not use HuRUpdater to update major android version
Flash TWRP by Pretoriano80: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-10/development/huawei-mate-10-pro-twrp-3-2-1-0-t3769904
Download this https://mega.nz/#!sGwVXSZS!NzdnQSYfSZUrdoSFQYXdWG6dsQM2xQrERr-1joQZrb0 and extract.
Download update.zip and update_full_ALP-L29_hw_spcseas.zip (If you in fact did rebrand to C636?), rename update_full_ALP-L29_hw_spcseas.zip to update_all_hw.zip
Boot to TWRP and transfer update.zip, update_all_hw.zip, ALP_RECOVERY8_NoCheck.img, FLASH_PIE_ALP.zip to root of Internal sdcard (/sdcard)
Easiest way imo would just be using adb push: "adb push update.zip /sdcard/" and so on for each file.
Flash FLASH_PIE_ALP.zip and wait, TWRP will reboot to stock NoCheck recovery and start Pie update.
Please do note that there is no root for EMUI9 yet, and downgrading back to Oreo requires you to factory reset.
Edit: Updated mega link

Thanks for replying, I've tried the step you said, but after the flash FLASH_PIE_ALP.zip, it still takes me back to TWRP by Pretoriano80, somehow it did not reboot to stock NoCheck recovery. Any suggestions?

I uploaded a bad one first then updated link. But you probably downloaded it before I noticed.
FLASH_PIE_ALP.zip was bad, I forgot to save edits xD
Edit: and if not, make sure you place/push to /sdcard and not a folder on /sdcard, it's looking for the files in /sdcard/

Flash guide: *should* work
1. Boot twrp on DP1
2. flash SU of choice
3. reboot
4. install FlashFire from play store
5. Select "Flash firmware package"
6. Select the zip
7. Flash it!
**** A FEW DISCLAIMERS
**** TWRP seems to be based on 6.0.1 and the OTA can only be flashed on 7.1.1
**** In this case twrp will NOT flash this OTA file
**** FlashFire IS REQUIRED
**** I am not google. Yes I am sorry that force encrypt wiped your data or you got stuck in
**** a boot loop because you flashed it incorrectly BUT I am NOT google, I am NOT even
**** the person who captured the link for the ota ALL I DID WAS SHARE IT

Would we get a full OTA as well?

If you're rooted, use flash fire from play. It restores twrp and root after updating. Haven't used any other method. No problems. Best app ever.
Just updated. Sound louder, November security patch and overall smoother scrolling.
No regrets getting the 6P. Amazing phone.?
It work fined at my Nexus 6p. All the rooted apps working fine. Thank you very much for your sharing. Appreciated it.
Just curius, has anyone of you guys unencrypted?
I installed it with flashfire but I'm still at DP1... Am I doing something wrong?
I installed it as flash zip or ota but nothing still got the message to update.
Is it because I have installed custom kernel?
Can't flash it in TWRP --> error
edit: I got E3001: the build fingerprint doesn't match. How can I fix this?
I succesfully flashed using Flashfire.
First thing I noticed is the many (repeating) superuser notifications I get for apps getting root during boot.

the same for me... I only have twrp and have modified system... maybe is because of that... but I tought that would not be a problem... guess I'm going the twrp way
hmm, now I get it... this is not a full ota file.
Will I be able to flash it via TWRP like I did with the full OTA file from DP1 ??
^You need the full ota not this type of ota...
So this is the update from DP1 to DP2, correct? Is there any other way to install it besides with Flashfire? I've always installed from my PC, so is there any way to sideload it or install the zip through TWRP?

I was on dp1 and my first selection was firmware package and nothing happened. So i tried the other with the same outcome.
I finally revert it to stock and got ota update the dp2 since I'm a beta tester and root it again.
Rooted with TWRP on NPF10C
So I'm rooted and have TWRP installed, how can I update to DP2 ?

Here's what I did:
1. Downloaded the OTA (137 MB) on pc.
2. Copied it to phone.
3. Selected Flash OTA in flashfire and selected the zip.
4. Flashfire failed to do it.
Should I use flash firmware option instead of flash OTA?
Also there are further options to select like recovery etc. What about them?

Yep select firmware (it says that in op) select what you would like to keep
I made this tutorial because i see no ZCX TWRP here..
In this TUTORIAL, we will update MIUI 7.2.24 to MIUI 7.3.2 using our beloved TWRP
Why this happened ?
You will fail to update OTA if :
1. You modified boot.img
2. You modified system's folder
3. You are using UNPATCHED TWRP
Getprop-Fingerprint's command in TWRP, will give you string :
Xiaomi/cm_land/land:6.0.1/MOB30M/e9c4629b61:eng/test-keys
Not your real Fingerprint.
If you unpack TWRP, you can see that string on default.prop
LETS BEGIN THIS TRICK
Requirements:
1. TWRP (Of Course)
2. OTA FLASHER by SILFOX
3. miui_HM3SGlobal_7.2.24_b21bbbf2e4_6.0.zip
4. miui-blockota-land_global-7.2.24-7.3.2-4b1c573f58-6.0.zip
Instructions :
1. Download all required Files
2. Install OTA FLASHER and open it.
3. Choose Flash OTA
4. Choose miui_HM3SGlobal_7.2.24_b21bbbf2e4_6.0.zip for Current MIUI ROM
5. Choose miui-blockota-land_global-7.2.24-7.3.2-4b1c573f58-6.0.zip for OTA
6. Choose START FLASH
7. Your device will goto TWRP, and do its magic
8. After finish, you can flash SuperSu or anything
9. After that, "Disable DM-Verify", and then Reboot...
Awesome love this Totally.
ok that got past the preliminary round, but now my recovery falsely reports that my system partition has unexpected contents, but i have a systemless root and was carefull not to mount that system partition.
by chance can we further edit the update-script to remove checks altogether?
also whats this patched twrp you speak of? does it skip this part by it self?
Great work. By the way can you create the patched twrp recovery like zcx recovery? It would be very helpful.
Thanks

You can only remove getprop check.
If you patch twrp, you can skip editing updater-script

There's a separate modded MIUI updater app available for download incremental updates.
Kindly download that app and download the OTAs through it.

i looked into the huruupdater 0.3.
here is the result,
i still failed to restore my phone back to stock. this what i did:
downloaded FullOTA-MF from Firmware Finder APP
put all the three .zip file in the same folder with huruupdater 0.3
launch TWRP recovery and run hurupdater 0.3
flashing process encountered some red colored error.
i suspect maybe the twrp does not support OREO 8.1.0 custom ROM.
what do you suggest i do next?

Where did you find HWOTA for mate 10 pro?
Hi guys,
I want to flash any of the openkirin roms but when I unlock the bootloader I have no more audio/sound anymore and also I can't make any phone calls.
When making a phone call I starts dialing and it makes connection but the other person on the line can't hear me and after a while my phone gives me an error saying there is no network connection..
After this the dialer stops and the pincode screen comes up and I have to enter my pin again..
I had RROS installed, it was working fine except the volume level was a little low so I started tweaking with default_volume_tables.xml and mixer_volumes_BLANC_ce.xml. I also installed an app called "precise volume" from the play store and directly after this installation the problems started. So after i revert to stock completely..
The phone did a factory reset lowlevel because i relocked the bootloader, after it reboots and everything back to stock all was working fine again.
Then i unlocked the bootloader again and flashed RROS and the problem is there again..
So locking gives me a fully working phone, unlocking breaks functions.
Anyone that can help me with this?
U can try to relock?

Have you tried re-installing firmware?
You could use TWRP with HuRUpdater.
Factory reset only wipes /data, but all other partitions are kept as they are.
Download TWRP by Pretoriano80: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-10/development/huawei-mate-10-pro-twrp-3-2-1-0-t3769904
And HuRUpdater: https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-9/development/tool-flash-official-firmware-recovery-t3769279
Easiest way for firmware is Firmware Finder app from Playstore. Search for your cust+build (for example BLA-L29C432B150, make sure you download firmware for your model and cust) and download FullOTA. Firmware is downloaded to /sdcard/TeamMT/FirmwareFinder/<versionnumbers>/
Make a new folder in /sdcard named Update, move update.zip, update_data_full_public.zip and (example, depends on your cust) update_full_BLA-L29_hw_eu.zip from the <versionnumbers> folder to the /sdcard/Update folder.
Rename update_full_BLA-L29_hw_eu.zip to update_all_hw.zip and update_data_full_public.zip to update_data_public.zip.
Place HuRUpdater zip in there as well. Reboot to TWRP and flash HuRUpdater zip and wait for installation to finish.

Just a little off topic question..
As you are also in developing..
Do you know what sound mod is available for my device? Mate 10 pro now running on openkirin rros.
I used Ainur Sauron, i hear a clearer sound but still bt volume is low.
With my mate 9 i had the same problem but with this phone i had v4a working togerher with dolby atmos wich could boost the whole thing.
Any suggestions?

V4A relies on drivers, but AFAIK those only work on Nougat for EMUI. :/ and no other sound mod does what v4a does.
As for your earlier problem; sound xmls exist in almost all partitions, and they do the same things. If you edit/break the one it tries to load first it will keep trying to load it when unlocked = broken sound/edited file is loaded.
If you lock bootloader, dm-verity is tripped and it won't load that file at all, but will load it from another partition where is not modified.
