I have the 10" Wifi M5 (Chinese version c00), and finally realized that it will never get widevine L1 so I decided to unlock the bootloader and install a custom ROm. I've tried Resurrection Remix beta 3.1 and the lastest OmniRom which should have widevine L1, but unfortunately i still can't get it.
So my next step is installing Magisk to try and see I can pass safetynet. Just wanted to know if anyone has installed it on an OpenKirin Rom before I try it?
Thanks.

I was just realizing that actually as well, i have a Chinese one too and noticed no L1. If you didn’t have L1 on stock, then you won’t get it under OpenKirin either, as the keys need to be baked into the hardware. I think Huawei only did that or enabled those for the Euro C423 models, but not on Chinese C00.
What stock ROM version were you on when you decided to unlock the bootloader?

I'm on 171. Is there a way to rebrand the m5 to another region? C423 seems to be the only good version. The US variant doesn't seem to have 5ghz wifi.

Not afaik. Didn’t see any success stories of people successfully doing that.

Hey guys.
I recently bought Redmi Note 3 and I like it quite a lot. I have always preferred stock ROMs but did not dislike MIUI.
The problem is that my phone is still at Android Lollipop. I would like it to be at least at Nougat.
That's when I applied for bootloader unlock code, I got the response the very next day that I was eligible for the unlock.
However, the problem is that for some reason the Mi Unlock tool refuses to recognize me phone. I have tried different different drivers, ports, installed Mi Pc Suite etc. Nothing seems to work.
I got really annoyed by it and started looking for alternative solutions, I realized that there was an unofficial bootloader unlock method, however, that was also fairly risky.
Now what I want to ask is. There are quite a few unofficial bootloader unlock method. Which one should I go with? I'm on MIUI 8.1 Global Stable
Can I install TWRP on an unofficially unlocked device?
Can I flash custom ROMs? And if yes, what ROMs can be flashed without a problem anything on an unofficially unlocked bootloader device?
What are the best ROMs without any major issues? Does Xposed work on 7.1?
I'll greatly appreciate any help.
Hello there,
I also faced this problem after i applied for official bootloader unlock. After searching for a lot of articles i came across this one article where we can install TWRP and Lineage OS without unlocking bootloader.
This article also has a link for a YouTube tutorial. I have tried this on my phone and this method works flawlessly.
Just follow every step from YouTube video or the article itself :-
https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-3/how-to/kate-guide-install-lineage-os-locked-t3546154
As for the part of choosing best ROM, i personally prefer Lineage OS because it is much more stable but ofcourse u can try out other ROM like Nitrogen OS, Resurrection Remix or AOSP 8.0
Update latest Official MIUI bate then try unlock

Hi, everyone.
I have not been able to play Pokémon Go on my LeMax2 (X829).
I'm using Cuoco92 (28S_M18.4).
Magisk (v.16.0) and Magisk Manager (5.7.0) are up to date. And the Pokémon Go is marked in the Magisk Hide.
But, despite all this, the game does not open on my smartphone. What could be happening?
Another choice

I was using cuoco92 too, so I decided to change my ROM to a new one, I installed Pixar with Android Oreo 8.1 and after it Magisk Manager. Hiding Pokemon GO with magisk was working ok, but this new ROM was not focusing the camera...

The reason is that the selinux mode of stock bootloader(boot.img) is in permissive, so you could not play Pokemon Go.
I tried to solve the same problem for a few months ago.
I tried several ways in various ways and eventually succeeded.
You can pass the basic integrity of the safetynet test by disassembling the bootloader and adding "enforcing=1" to the cmd_line.
The selinux mode will change to be enforcing and you could play Pokemon Go without Magisk.
I am an x820 user, I think that x829 has same problem.
I tested on 26s and 28s rom of X820, not test on 30s yet.

Heyyo, the reason. Why 26s, 28s and 30s struggle is they are Chinese ROMs which were never Google SafetyNet certified so they will never pass without attempting Magisk.
Only North American, Indian and Russian (afaik anyways) builds of EUI ROM are SafetyNet certified.
It also requires bootloader to be locked.
Otherwise? You will need a ROM that exploits SafetyNet via the kernel with a greenlight hack. LineageOS Pro, DU12, Pixel Experience and tbh I'm unsure which other ones have it. I do remember that OmniROM Nougat official builds had it as well.
Please note I said LineageOS Pro by GalaticStryder and not official LineageOS since LineageOS team is against exploiting SafetyNet as to abide by what Google wants custom ROMs to do. That's also why they dropped user builds for userdebug builds.
Hope this makes sense.
You need to back for 19s Indian stock.

Heyyo jorgeffonte, have you tried relocking your bootloader in developer options and then rebooting?
If that doesn't work? Maybe you will need the EUI ROM x821 19s as it definitely passes SafetyNet.
Otherwise? After a bunch of changes on LineageOS 15.1? We do pass SafetyNet without any hacks... But the issue for Nintendo games is it will detect bootloader unlocked and that it's a userdebug build, so Pokémon Go wouldn't work unless you used Magisk...
It's quite the bummer that Nintendo are very anti-custom ROM...
I'm on revengos with magisk with the hide module and it works fine.
hello,
since the Honor 9 isnt getting any security fixes anymore what can we do
about the BlueFrag security hole?
https://www.andreafortuna.org/2020/...-critical-bluetooth-vulnerability-in-android/
It seems right now the only chance would be phussons android 10 GSI
https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-9/how-to/android-10-t3993461
since there are no Custom Android 9 or 10 ROMS with latest Google Security Fixes - correct?
If someone figures out how to bypass the bootloader that huawei put, then we can start doing this roms thing, until then, unfortunate people like me are stuck at a locked bootloader.
Well i can technically do the whole process of flashing my board again using dc unlocker and then unlocking my bootloader while I'm at it, but that's too much hassle, man, plus you need some money to spare. It's not worth it anymore unless you absolutely have to, I'm just happy with a working phone lol
thanks for answering - i'm also stuck at EMUI 9.1
and with this method?
wouldnt it be free?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-9/how-to/downgrade-unbrick-honor-9-imei-fix-t3934363
then we could try some of theses ROMS out

Nope, u have to pay for it, and yeah, i'm waiting for them to find an exploit on the security that huawei put in their gpu turbo update, bec. that's the root of our problem, i heard that if you downgrade to a non-turbo firmware, it's gonna brick your device, so might as well be patient until the guys at dc phoenix figures out how to read bootloader codes on emui9.
Also I saw that openkirin has hw buttons fixed, i think it's the capacitive buttons fix that people often lose bec. of installing twrp, so i'm excited for that day that we can install openkirin roms

has anyone managed to rebrand to a different version? i tried funkyhuwei and managed to get halfway thru the process, but was stuck at the firmware install thru their version of huiste and needed to unbrick it using erecovery. I was hoping to upgrade to 9.0 after rebranding.
for anyone looking to do this, i gave up on my own. i paid $30 to Ministry Of Solutions. He rebranded it to C432 i am now on emui 9.1

After the rebranding and update to 9.1, do you have Widevine L1 for Netflix in 1080p HD or do you have L3 (SD)? I was thinking about rebranding my Mediapad M5 through the same service but if I don't keep Widevine L1 it may not be worth it
i wouldn't know how to check that. i am only getting 960x540 on all episodes of test patterns in netflix. i do get 1920x1080 on other tablets i own

You can check by downloading "DRM Info" from the Play store. If you open it and look at the Widevine CDM section, you'll see what it shows for Security Level, L1 or L3
DRM Info - Apps on Google Play
Shows DRM information (Widevine, PlayReady, etc) from Android DRM Framework

Darn ☹ thats disappointing. I would love to be on EMUI 9.1 but I don't think I can give up HD video to do it. Thanks for checking
Well, I just checked on my device (M5, 8,4", C437, stock rooted EMUI 9.1, security patch September 2020) and I do get security level L1 in Widevine CDM section
@tensux is your SafetyNet - check green?

@AndDiSa Was your M5, 8,4", C437 rebranded from a different version or is it still the stock region, just rooted? The US C567 has L1 on the stock EMUI 8, so it sounds like @tensux may have lost that when he rebanded. Or would just using Magisk maybe bring it back?
It's still stock, not rebranded, but trying to root with Magisk may be a solution as Magisk is able to bring back passing SafetyNet on unlocked devices. Probably in his case it's working, too ...

yes it does pass safetynet. I am not rooted. i had him rebrand from a usa version to a european one so that it could be updated to android 9
ok i rooted with magisk. still showing L3
Do you still pass SafetyNet? If yes, the only idea what comes into my mind is: rebranding is installing a new OS and all of its dependencies but leaves certificates and keys alone. In that case, the device the keys used to identify in relation to widevine are still the ones from the C567 device and so it's still identified as a L3 device ...

Hi,
I found full stable Oxygen OS 13 ROM version F22 for DN2101. When I try local update on DN2103 I always get verification failed message.
Is there any way to install it without unlocking bootloader?
I dont wanna mess to much with the phone as I know there is no much support for Mediatek devices if I get hard brick.
Link for the ROM is in the video description on yt:

You cant unlock bootloader because oneplus blocked it for some reason on latest 12.1 update. I tried to roolback to Android 11 so I can flash EvoX Rom but also getting verification failed message.

Hello, yes, I went down to android 11 and unlocked the bootloader, but I closed it again, later I'll try maybe to install twrp and some gsi rom, well I just bought it and I don't want to bother her.
