I'm a little bit worried about image retention on amazfit (stratos/pace) and I keep asking myself which is the best background watch face color (black or white) to keep all day to avoid screen issues.
I would like to know from you, including people with burn-in. How long do you have the amazfit and which background color are you using? Any problem?
Reflective LCD and LCD in general should not be sensitive to burn-in. With a year or so, no noticeable burn-in.

I'm thinking about using my gs2 as a desktop clock over night.
Putting the gs2 in a dock station and using an app which minimize the screen backlight to a minimum.
My question is will the clock burn in?
Thanks

I do that every night.. the LCD goes off automatically after some 30 mins or so.. So no burn ins.. even if it doesn't the screen will not burn..
I want to let the screen the whole night on. The app that I use got this option.

LED based screen generally don't have that problem. The burn in problem is a lot more common in LCD and Plasma screens.Thought if u wanna be extra sure, try to use dark colours for the display, that should keep the screen happy. i have used my screen as a flashlight during some house parties, where in I left the screen on for over 2 hours with bright white background and that didn't damage the screen, so I think u should be ok with low brightness, dark colours (if u leaving it overnight)
It's like this.

Price of SGS2 i would buy a cheap alarm clock no burn in then .
jje
for sure no problem... I think that kinda background would give u no trouble even on a LCD and maybe Plasma.. Go ahead.. get the app and enjoy ur alarm clock

AMOLED doesn't suffer from burn-in literally speaking. What happens is that when you have a static image consisting of black colors (in your case the background) along with other colors (the clock, moon image, etc.), the colored pixels will lose brightness while the black pixels are basically turned off, meaning that they'll retain their brightness. So when you view a static blue/grey image (best colors to show early signs of burn-in), you'll notice that the parts where the clock was in the middle are darker than the rest of the screen. So yeah, just buy a cheap clock.
I bought my SGS 2 (used by another person for about a year) a few weeks ago and I have noticed artifacts on the screen, the individual pixels are not lit evenly, creating patterns on solid color surfaces. It is visible mainly on grey background (blue works quite well too). Just try to move a medium grey patterned background around and you will probably notice it. I guess this is the SAMOLED+ deterioration... Also, try displaying a black picture in Gallery in a dark room. The pixels on the screen are lit slightly, but some are darker and they form "blotches".
If I had known about this issue, I would have bought a new SGS 2 and not a preowned one.
Have you experienced these issues too? Could you check this on your phone and report? Things to report:
How old is the phone?
What has been your usage pattern?
How bad are these screen issues?
Are you experiencing different problems with the screen?
Maybe we can find some trends and estimate the service life of SAMOLED +

You have proved that I am not insane xD I too have been seeing these lit up bloatches on the screen whilst on a black wallpaper.....
I've had my S2 for over 6 months. I've been using it everyday since then and maybe 6 hours screen time in total(daily). The screen issues are not bad at all..Tbh its only there if you really try to find it. And no I have no been experiencing any other issues.
Have a good day and good luck with your S2
Hello,
I have my Mate 10 Pro since one week and two days ago I used it at night and spotted that a little portion of the screen (at the right border of the screen) is much darker on gray color than the rest of the screen.
You can see it in the attached photos of my screen. It most visible in the Google Clock app where all the background is dark gray... It's not as visible as this when I use it in a more enlightened environment.
I think that the screen of my phone have an issue.
As it's a OLED display with no led back light there shouldn't be this kind of issues (it's like a clouding on the LED screens).

Exchange it
Will do ! I was just curious if I am the only one with this kind of issue. It's really strange.

I'm thinking about exchanging mine too. I also see uneven Grey's and whites
I think it is just that the app is showing not a flat background, but a background with gradient. It is more beautiful when app backgrounds are with gradient, than just flat. So with lowest lightning the contrast of different levels of intensity on the background are more easy to see.
It's not a software gradient, it's a screen flaw. It's called Mura effect. Affects mot OLED screens. Google Mura effect oled for more info. I was so sad when I first noticed it on my Galaxy Tab S 8.4 (changed it twice with no luck), and then on my Galaxy S5.
Now I'm going for IPS screens which imo still suffer from less flaws than OLED.

Anybody experience data problem when switching back from wifi mode?
Hello
I have the exact same issue and it's really bugging me...
I went and showed it to the Service Center and they accepted to exchange it for a new one. I'm waiting for the replacement in a couple of days...
I'm glad I wasn't the only one experiencing it!
Send it back and get a new one from Amazon. I saw this problem with the camera in white or clears walls. It seems "banding".
I acquired a second hand Mate 10 Pro 3 weeks ago (first owner bought it on the 24th of November), it already had burn-in zones: navigation dock button, Google Search, bottom system buttons bar and many other ones from various apps' icons... These zones are mostly noticeable on clear or white screen/pages (eg: about:blank URL in Chrome browser). At reception, I immediately selected a black theme and activated Battery's dark mode. Now I can see my own apps setup marking the screen... After only 3 weeks...
Am I the only one ?
I'm contacting Huawei customer service.
I have a new GS9+ (SD, unlocked) which I love.
BUT, does anyone else notice that when viewing the screen anywhere greater than ~10 degrees from perpendicular, the screen turns blue-ish?
The blue-filter option does not seem to affect this effect.
Color shift is a inherent issue with AMOLED displays.

Perhaps, but on my GS7e it's unnoticeable. When doing a side by side with the GS9+ and GS7e the older screen keeps it color at an angle... the new screen does not. :-|
First world problems.
Hey there
I bought my s9 plus on march 16th and as of last week I have noticed inage retention from always on display. This image retention only shows the time from the clock and is visible in dark lighting. Also the image retention ONLY happens when using an Aod that has numbers in it. If anyone has a solution or is experiencing the same issue as me, pls post below

Is it just pure clock or with a background? If no background, try that. It will use s tad more battery but light up more pixels around the clock so it just lesson the effect of image retention
if it ONLY shows in specific conditions then it is NOT image retention. maybe some software issue.

It's just a clock and on the s9 there's no option for background like on the s8.
