I was asking because there was just L3 present on my MediaPad M5 when I got it. At this time it wasn't even possible to play content in HD on popular platforms like Netflix or Amazon Prime video.
Fortunately Huawei fixed that issue OTA.

I think there's EIS support in Gcam app. Although not sure how well it works.

it crashes alot in non snapdragon devices. i can only click photos using gcam app on my honor 8 pro and nothing else.
It is not sure if EIS is present in the Honor 10, considering it has the same "AI 2.0" as in the Huawei P20 series. But giving AI based IS on a sub €500 phone would make the P20 series less marketable, considering they share the same market

yes i agree but i am pretty surprised by the fact that honor 8 pro had eis in both front and back camera but its succesors are not having. also huawei phones used to have double tap to wake earlier but they removed it. dont know why

We'll see Android P (9) long before Samsung so
Don't count on it at least on US version. Huawei isn't really supporting this model, hence the rare updates. Maybe the 20 will get more attention.

My friends chinese mate 10 pro already received 8.1 yet im still waiting on faceunlock and nightmode from optus australia. Lesson learnt never buy a phone from carrier

A real damn shame Huawei are not supporting the Mate 10 better.
It seems the P20 has gotten most of the attention and they are focusing more on that. I take
it the P20 sold more than the Mate 10 series line.
IMO Huawei never really supported the Mate 10 series great.

Mate 10 is getting more support than Mate 9. Same region.
Used to get security updates every 3 to 4 months, now every month.
Got no new features on Mate 9 until Oreo arrived in January 2018, Mate 10 has received face unlock and updated night shot (with 8.1, 960 fps slow mo, new camera UI, GPU Turbo etc promised).
Support is DEFINITELY better this time round.

I agree, nothin to complain about in general. The region delays are a problem though because it seems like it could be avoided easily.

Honestly, I don't think my NXT-L29 will get it. I like Huawei better than Samsung but I bought a Note 9 even though I wanted Mate 10 Pro purely because Huawei is so ****ty with North American updates.

I went from the mate 8 to the mate 10 pro and the update schedule has been okay for the most part. But I have the global variant bla l29. I have been very impressed with the face unlock update and I've recieved the gpu turbo update but since I don't play games much on my phone I haven't taken advantage of it. The night shot update with AI stabilisation is very impressive too.
Huawei have gotten better with software updates for the most part especially when it comes to bringing new features but the update schedule is unpredictable. Atm I have recieved the September patch while my mate 8 hasn't updated in quite a few months and always took ages for updates.

The P30 Pro new variant will have it in box.
Exisiting devices will get it stating with the P30 series around late October to early November. Mate 20 series would be in December.
They will slowly roll it out as they will be waiting to see if bugs exist before a global release.
Makes sense to do it in stages
Well if I do get a new Huawei again I'll make sure its a P series as they get updates first, I think the Mate series is treaty badly by Huawei

As stated by the text in the lower right corner this is when the beta for each device will start. So the final version will be released about month later.
It states P30 November and the Mate 20 Pro December, the Mate series is king of the hill for a few months until the P series comes out

That's my point, its king of the hill for a few months which means the real King is the P series
Keep in mind this is when it will be released for the Mate 20 Pro not when you'll get it. I am still stuck on July security patch for example. So could be January / Feb before I actually get it.
What if, after installing the Emui 10 it takes away some useful features and reduce the the camera quality ?
December is an affordable month to get Mate Pro 30 !? Is this a ploy !? Just wondering

Hope it is the plan. My brother's P20 always got updates before my M20P in Canada.
I'll expect it mid next year when ee has finished messing with it and allows it through lol

Pad 5 Pro is having Widevine Level 1 already, so you will not cope with any restrictions on Netflix and Amazon Prime. Youtube is working fine here, I don´t use the others. I´m on MIUI 13.0.8 chinese/english version.

While Widevine seems to be fixed, could anyone tell me if HDR and Dolby Vision are supported by the Mi Pad 5 Pro ?
