guys want to flash twrp to flash notification zip but am confused about few thing can you guys can help if the possible explanation in simple words will be appreciated
1: I read my data will get encrypted (what is this thing all about ) what encryption means i mean i know what encryption is in general but what does it mean here and how will it affect me i dont care if my user data get deleted when i flash but i dont wana get bootloop or soft brick
2: any proper noob friendly tutorial
3: can i flash global beta through twrp i dont want root etc just twrp
4 : can i retain twrp after i install global beta without root and magisk
5 : isnt there any portable twrp which i can boot to to flash that zip and all back to normal mean stock recovery
Check this out. Twrp is not official yet, but can use force encryption disabler to keep TWRP work on next reboot to recovery. So far no problem to flash rom via twrp.

For what I know, if you boot into twrp via fastboot, it will be encrypted back to stock recovery if you don't install the force encryption disabler.
Meaning that, this force encryption disabler is to help to keep the twrp recovery.

Well, There's no good and bad when you still can boot as per normal, just that the recovery will be different, either twrp or stock though...
Use the one with working decryption so you don't have to worry about it. Forget every other Recovery and the Encryption Disabler, it just makes things complicated and it's an out-of-date work around for other Recovery's which aren't fixed yet.
If you use official MIUI then you will need to reflash or boot TWRP again if you want to use it, because stock Recovery will replace TWRP when you boot official MIUI. This isn't so bad because it keeps OTA working (unless you flashed Magisk of course, which will need to be uninstalled first before OTA).

Does this link ok to go for since it mention with working decryption?

Now I am still using the version that needs the disabler, can I just reflash the new twrp file, clear dalvik cache?

You can dirty flash the recovery over the one you currently have, it won't affect your phone at all. Keep in mind though that your device will stay decrypted, you'll have to encrypt it manually via the phone settings.

Interesting, if stay decrypted, that's fine as the twrp will continue stay for future reboot to receovery.
You said that can manually encrypt via phone setting, but how to do that?

so refreshing to know. The only thing that haunts is boot loop to which we non-tech guys are afraid of and technical guys assume that every one knows the basics and hence the confusion occurs as no clear guide becomes available in new days of any mobile launch waiting a noob friendly thread for poco which might explain these in an order but thanx for the time you took to clear a bit

The simplest option for u is to download twrp with working encryption.
Dont flash it , just boot into recovery by fastboot command thru adb.
Flash whatever u want to and once done flashing , reboot and u will boot with stock recovery. That way for stock roms u can update via OTA also.
There's a thread in Q&A , will post the link in some time , would suggest u read it.

That's the only one last I checked, yes that's it.
You will need to reflash stock ROM (actually just vendor) if you want to enable encryption enforcement again in your ROM.

Hmm..
My current info:
Mini 9.6.25
Twrp (need to flash with Force encryption Disabler)
So here's my step to do:
Download the twrp with decryption enabled.
Download same stock rom.
Flash the stock rom
Flash the new twrp I downloaded.
That's all?
Will it be asking for password and stuff? Because as I know if it happens, I need to wipe data, right?
Another scenario, if I am going to flash miui 10 beta or stable in the future, I need to wipe data to get it work after flash?

Hi, I'm very newbie at rooting... But I managed to root my phone months ago and now there is this update (V10.2.1.0) that I cannot do because it's rooted...
I still have the original rom but rooted, and I don't want to flash anything since I have all my data, configuration and all this stuff :/
Is it possible to simply update it without flashing since it's the Xiaomi rom ?
Thank you
So I unlocked the bootloader and managed to flash TWRP (after some issues with the wrong drivers and usb3 ports).
Then I tried to flash LOS 16, but TWRP said my firmware wasnt up to date.
Since I just wanted to play around with a new ROM I went to the next on the list and that was OMNI ROM. Flashed that, which worked, but when I booted it complained about Google Play not being responsive or something. So I booted back into TWRP.
I'm not sure at which point TWRP started to ask for a password, but I think it was after and not before I flashed Paranoid Android after OMNI ROM didnt work (so on my third ROM now). When I booted PA, the PW splash screen came up but then instantly booted back to TWRP. TWRP asks for a PW now, but I just hit cancel and then its bypassed.
So then I went back to OmniROM and it said something about my phone being encrypted and I had to do a factory reset. Which I did. And now when the phone starts it asks for a password.
I can still get into TWRP, and then hit cancel when it also asks for a pw.
So how do I fix this? There is no important data on the phone that needs to be saved.
Grateful for any help!
Hi, use same password you had, when your phone was running, worked for me. I hope it also fix ur problem. If not, maybe try adb sideload different rom? I did that on my xiaomi mi a1 and it worked.
Also you need to install firmware & vendor for lineage OS, i think you can find it on the post of the rom.

Boot back on twrp. U beed format internal store because ur phone is encrypt. It will earse all ur data (phone store) and u need to have a zip rom on sdcard( to reinstall a rom to boot on system after u format data). After install rom then flash a file called fde.If u havent a sdcard, u need a pc to flash a rom throught fastboot. Remember u need a fde file (search on forum or google) and u will know when need to flash it. My advice is if u want to play with this phone, u would have: a sdcard, a zip rom on sdcard, fde zip file, a twrp of course. Good luck.

Thanks! Yeah, I got an SD card for that ready.
When you say FDE do you mean FED (Force Encryption Disabler)? FDE is File Disk Encryption?
And is it possible to keep encryption? I thought TWRP supported encryption now?

Yeah, my fauls. Force Encryption Disabler. FED is for sure because its happened for me. Im having twrp which support encryption. But when i flash a rom then reboot (without flash fed). My phone ask for password. So i know it. Now im flashing fed when i flash any rom (with or without support encryption).
1. Format data.. as in look for the words FORMAT DATA...
this will delete the TWRP PASSWORD
2. FLASH FED...
3. FLASH YOUR ROM

Are you able to get Magisk working with this ROM ? I can't get Magisk to work. When I flash Magisk the phone boot but the launcher doesn't appear and I can't launch any application.
I tried to flash previous ROM version but I have a recovery loop when I boot.
Do someone else experience the same and have found a solution ?
@xdarkmario i think something changed with last beta of miui eu - till 9.4.25 it was fully functional by me too ) @widze i am working with magisk 19 - if u make fresh install and use magisk from here, it should work - at least mine is and i didnot do anything like dirt flash - only instaled via twrp

So I udersstand that it's working for you. I did a dirty flash but without backup support in recoveries, I can't do factory reset...
backup support in recoveries - u mean backup in twrp :? its not functional in any twrp beta for mi9 (actually), the factory reset i can do withou problem - so u go to twrp and there u choose factory reset, swipe left on it and...what ?

And I don't want to lost my data... I will wait for another version of Magisk or EU Rom and hope it will be fix.
I dont understand - u Want to do factory reset without loosing data ?
And you think, that solution is in backup in recovery?
If u make backup in twrp = u get img of your phone in actually state 1:1
So if u recover the backup = u get data in phone in same state as It was before = like there was no reset
Is not the solution in use titanium backup ?

The encryption tab is an optional feature if you want to encrypt the backup files generated with a password - much like adding a password to a zip file.
For which partitions to backup to save a full working ROM - see https://twrp.me/faq/whattobackup.html however I haven't tested for MIUI 10/Android Pie on the 9SE.
Did someone successfully restore a backup made with this recovery?
For anyone having issues with flashing. Try disconnecting the cable after flashing and boot into recovery with power + vol up. I am running on stable eu rom with magisk now. Seems to work smoothly

Yes the magisc use boot.img for root. So the new Ota update will get for sure a new boot.img.. So my phone will no more be rooted.. And if root after that I need to clear the data.. So.. No reason.. Better no update ?

i tell you that because i think stock recovery reset some other partitions that TWRP doesn´t reset. And you can always change again to TWRP.
But it worked for you is what matters.
I've updated my mi 8 lite. I am using orange fox recovery, updated it using OTA (orange fox also sports it since you keep some auto generated files at sdcard) and I had not to format data partition. In fact, the update did not erase any user info. The only thing I had to do was to flash magisk zip again and voila, root is back and full functional again.
