Charges fine on any stock based ROMs, but when I flash a KitKat ROM, it will only charge if I put it in recovery mode. The phone will say it is charging(charging animation on battery icon) but it doesn't. Tried USB charging and 3 different wall chargers and 2 cables.
This has happened on PACman and Houston's ParanoidAndroid 4.3+geeb. Wiped everything before flashing, did everything their instructions told me to.
Any ideas on how to fix this? I've read something about a 1% battery driver and that flashing a kernel might help but I am pretty stupid with kernels. Don't know which would work for these ROMs.
EDIT - Charges fine with Cyanogenmod. That's weird. Oh well, I'll just use this one instead.
Hello.
I have a problem with my S II... Out of nowhere it started crashing. It boots normally, but once it loaded, it crashes immediately. The crash is actually a system freeze, then it shuts down. The battery is fully charged, but the phone was burning while it was charging, not the battery though. So basically I start the phone, it freezes, then it shuts down.
Don't know if it's the battery or the firmware... I have stock firmware.
Thank you in advance.
UPDATE:
The phone is still burning, at the back top, camera area. The battery discharges very quickly now I see.
I remember using the flash before it happened. I used it to a point where it started buzzing and discharged the battery to 5%. I put it immediately to charge, but, now it's like in a vegetable state...
Still don't know if it's the firmware's fault or the battery. I don't want to rewrite the firmware, the battery I could change... But I'm thinking the camera or it's flash is broken, freezing the phone and draining it's power... Is that even possible? What to do?
Thank you.
UPDATE 2:
Ok, I found the problem, the mainboard was faulty and I had to replace it.
But now even though it seems to work even better, it has something else......... The USB port isn't working. The circuit board with the microphone, usb, etc. is the one I had before, didn't change that. So it should work perfectly, but it's not. When I plug the charger, it takes a few good seconds to see the status "charging", and when removed it's the same. When I connect the phone to the PC's USB port, it doesn't recognize the phone. What the hell? I enabled the USB Debugging on the phone and still nothing... The battery is charging though, but very slow. Damn, this phone is torturing me!!
Please someone help me with this other issue... ((
Thank you!
UPDATE 3:
I managed to fix my phone. Changed the mainboard, changed the USB board, installed firmware and it worked.
Thank you all for all your help!
Check the voltage during charging via Battery Doctor. It is due to your battery. Try changing battery

How do I do that? The phone freezes the moment it loads the system. I wrote an update in the original post. Thanks for trying to help.
So, anyone has any idea?
First replace your battery. Try to replace charger. It is your main board maybe thats why your S2 restarts itself. It is critical. If it does not solve your issue ... it is your kernel. Lots of peoples are complaining about kernel bad behaviour ... they are also not rooted. So try to root it if the battery doesnt solve your issue. Also try to have a hardware checkup by a technician ...! Hope it helps

So I consulted a technician and the problem was the mainboard. I had to replace it... Now it works like a charm, or so it seemed at first. Now something else is ****ed up.
I wrote another update in the original post, please read it...
Thank you for all your help.
@lucian there are charging pins and computer connecting pics on the main board which lets your smartphone to communicate with pcand charge. These pins have some prints for reading. So these prints are damaged according to my info.!. Repair those prints and let us know.!
@Lucian Andries I have the same problem of heating at the part of camera .. Dont worry i dont think its because the problem of flash or your camera .. Only because your battery gets heated up and leads to heating up your device . So i had to change my modem to control the heating im using KH3 now which doesnt heat up very often .. but i do have some heating when its over charged !!
@GreenArrow_I9100: What is KH3?
@syedbilal093: Ok, I tried that to, I changed the USB/Microphone board too. That didn't work either. The problem this time was still the mainboard, it had a faulty stock Firmware installed on it. I installed CyanogenMod 11 SNAPSHOT 12, and the problem was solved.
Thanks guys for trying to help.

KH3 is the modem type ..
You can download it from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1066735&d=1337266991
And then flash it from odin but upload file in PHONE/MODEM instead of PDA in odin It did help me with heating problem !!!
For now even im running cm11 m12 snapshot over dorimanx and encountered no problems so far . I get a battery life for around 4-5 hours on screen wifi on .. And no heating problems !

On my cm11 m12 I have some problems. Applications just "stop working" out of the sudden. As there is no thread for SNAPSHOT versions, I'm asking you if you have this issue. Is this due to kernel? Should I change the kernel? I have the cm11 kernel...
Thanks!

Generally applications stop working if you alter the procedure of flashing the kernel while you flash the rom
I prefer this order
1. Install dorimanx kernel
2. check for kitkat compatible recovery
3. Full wipe data factory reset, cache partition, dalvik cache, Mounts and storage --> Format/system
4. Install Rom cm11 snapshot
5. Install Gapps(Used PA gapps)
6. Reboot !!
Anyway many say that kernel can be flashed between rom and gapps.
But so far i never had any problem of application stopped working !! So try this out !! Hope this solves your problem
Great to hear that @lucian

But is the Dorimanx kernel better than CyanogenMod's kernel?
@Lucian Andries Doesnt really matter the kernel here if you follow the correct order of flashing them .. I hv tested rom over both kernels and it was smooth with no problems So what you choose is upto you but i personally like Dorimanx
Both kernels are good though

I don't know. CyanogenMod may be smooth and all, but the GPS isn't working even with KH3 modem, unless set it to network/wi-fi/gps. And the camera also doesn't perform right. The colours are desaturated and it doesn't focus right. I think I'll roll back to official stock 4.1.2 for this device...
Could you tell me which is the best stock 4.1.2? I'm from Romania, and here we have this version "I9100XWLSS_I9100OXFLS3_COA_4.1.2". But they didn't put any effort into it...

All stocks are the same only difference is the location and language as far as i know get your required zip from samfirmware.com as per your location and flash it through odin. It should work !!

I don't know about that. I don't think it's just the location and language. For the language, all the location firmwares have all the languages included. But, not all the location firmwares are the same. I'm sure some of them have more work put into them than others. That's why some of them are buggy, having boot loops, very high battery consumption and slow response in apps and menus. Get my point? That's why I asked which country has the best official rom.
@Lucianandries, i came here after a long time. Some issues. Exams preparation, you know . I want to ask if your other problems are solved or not.? As for "application stopped" error. It is usually normal in Cyanogenmod. I also sometimes face this and that's why i don't use CM. Try to use "Official" builds. They are good.!
Hello guys,
I've recently bought a Redmi Note 3 Pro (3GB RAM) and the first time I booted it up it showed that it has -2% battery life. Since this seemed strange I tried to charge for several hours, but no change was noticed. I then tried with a battery calibration app, tried factory reset and restarting the phone, but nothing helped. I am also not able to go in recovery mode for hard reset as it states that there is no charge ...
The strange thing is that the phone is working for now and I am using for a second day with still the same bug. This leads me to believe that the problem is most likely caused by incorrect battery stats saved on the phone, but I am not sure. I am also not willing to root it or flash it since it is brand new and I might lost the warranty.
Can you guys suggested me a solution for this or the problem is not easily recoverable?
Thank you for the time and answers!
I have the exact same problem, tried resetting everything, I suspect it is a hardware problem.

Try updating, I had this issue with custom ROM's something certain boot images have this bug.
I flashed a new boot image and bug was gone but had no wifi reverted back to latest global stock via MiFlash.
If you have TWRP try the ROM here https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/6-7-7-11.32639/ it seems ok.
Did anyone find a fix for this issue. I have the same problem. Battery percentage shows negative 2% and I can't get into recovery because of that. When I press Power and Volume + It shows the battery icon in red and won't let me into recovery. I have the Redmi Note 3 Pro Snapdragon version.
I tried flashing a couple of ROMs via MiFlash with no positive results.

The Radon V1.8 Kernel actually causes this bug on MIUI based roms, so don't flash the kernel.
Radon Version 1.9 will resolve the battery bug on MIUI and other roms.
Talking about cm/aosp I tried almost all combination kernel/rom.
No success except for this particular cm with camera patch.
Same problem with battery, showing -2% but phone is working... Plz provide solution asap
If u run MIUI, just download FASTBOOT ROM, restart phone to FASTBOOT MODE and flash ROM using this tool. But if u run custom ROM just flash custom kernel (like RADON).

flashed the latest global firmwareware(not developer one) solved my issue, also now my phone updates OTA.

Hmm, well flashing an official ROM in edl mode has fixed this problem for many people, including myself. So it would seem that in most cases at least it IS a software issue that can be fixed by flashing.
My phone came from Banggood and a vendor ROM that wouldn't even support my FP reader, Goodix, and which booted up with the -2% battery bug out of the box. Flashing the official global stable ROM, 8.0.2.0 at that time, fixed all of the issues.
Hmmm may be sir but that doesn't seem to fix mine although mine is from xiaomi only and the problem came after using 6 month suddenly without any reason one morning
Ok guys there are 2 solutions to this problem one is drain your battery and don't charge it for 2 3 days drain it like he'll coz after switch off still some juice is left you have to drain completely and other rapid method is open your redmi note 3 and disconnect battery cable and reconnect it... The problem is not software its hardware where battery reading stuck at minimal which is - 2 ... Thinking minus two hours coz at zero still some battery left for edl and fastboot mode time and alarm... Fixed my redmi note 3 hope it will help you.. Coz tried all method format... 10 times flash all roms through fastboot mode Coz updater mode won't work coz of low battery reading... Enjoy guys
I am having a same issue with redmi note 3 SD version. Tried everything Global BETA ROM, STABLE ROMs but didnt solved my issue. Showing -2% bettery in every ROM which i have flashed.

CM12.1 (based on Android 5.1.1) should be the latest CM (or LOS) that Xperia Mini Pro support.
Ok, thanks!
Do you know where to download it, and if there is some step by step instruction somewhere on the internet how to install it.

in my opinion, works much better than cm11
https://basketbuild.com/devs/AdrianDC/LegacyXperia/mango/LineageOS-14.x
How to install LineageOS 14.1 Rom (Android 7.1.2)
1. External memory card is required to install the rom (Ext4 only 1 partition). At least around 4gb, must be very fast (Class 10 u3), and should be at around 8gb if possible. All apps, data, etc will go here.
2. Flash boot.img (In fastboot mode).
3. Go wipe, swipe. Go advanced wipe and wipe system.
4. Go advanced --> sideload. Connect USB and type 'adb sideload rom-14.1-xxx.zip' & after type 'adb sideload opengapps-7.1-xxx.zip'
5. Reboot to system. Ignore any warning message.

Did you take a look inside lineage-14.1-20170514-UNOFFICIAL-LegacyXperia-mango.zip ?
Because I didn't test it yet: Are there any issues with this build (camera working)?
Just tried lineage-14.1-20170514-UNOFFICIAL-LegacyXperia-mango.zip and the installation overall was like described by Tromponauta.
The problem is that the touch screen is not responding within LOS. Everything else works (keyboard, camera etc.), just the touch screen seems to have problems. It works just fine inside TWRP and booting LOS for the first time it was responding for the first moment and then stopped (no response, like a frozen OS but the hardware keys still work). I've rebooted back inside TWRP to confirm the touch screen is working and it is.
Any ideas?

Its probably your phone hardware problem. I'm running CM14.1 on two mango phones.. without gapps and everything works .. well.. one of them have occasional freeze problems I'm struggling to diagnose, so removing battery is required from time to time to reboot it.
Anyway sim card works fine on both phones with normal battery use.
ROM is quite fast (maybe faster then CM11) but I'm using A1 sd card and no gapps ..
btw I also had some freezing problems on this phone when on other ROMs so maybe its hardware..
Its certainly worth giving CM14.1 try (as per other post earlier on)

I've experienced this as well but I doubt this has something to do with the hardware (except the fact that the hardware is maybe just too outdated to handle a current LOS and current apps).

On main mango I get between 12-18 hours depending on use.. (its mostly light though.. messengers, emails, phone calls, etc not much browsing) so battery drain is same ish as other ROMs I tried..
2nd mango with CM14.1 works as alarm clock and sometimes squeezebox controller. mostly on airplane mode which gives over week battery life.. (no sim on that one)
3rd mango is on stock gingerbread converted into dashcam .. I get about 6-7 hours battery with HD recording on Daily Voyager (had to use tasker to turn off screen during recording though)
Got two more of those little buggers but sadly as spares now.. (broken screens)
Everyone tells me I'm mad to still use mini pro.. but I really like small phone with great keyboard.. (by today standards I should say tiny phone lol)
Once a while I consider buying new phone but haven't actually done it yet lol
Yes! +1 Thank you devs for all your work on xperia phones!.. Cheers
p.s I'm still hopeful for Android Go one day
Awesome... well I sitll doubt that my battery drain has something to do with the hardware. As far as I remember the battery life was already not very good when I was using the original Android for 2-3 years. My current battery is now at least 5 years old so I think the current battery capacity is quite okay. Before I had a Motorola xt894 with a Cyanogen Mod experimental/snapshot and the battery life was horrible in comparison to the standard Rom so I think it has something to do with a not optimized LOS.
btw: Did you experience any Wifi issues connecting to public Hotspots? Sometimes I have the problem that I can not connect to public hotspots that worked yesterday. The Wifi list says "saved" to the specific Hotspot after I tried to connect (insteadt of "connected").

hmm maybe you could try battery calibration? or "new" battery.. those are very cheap. seriously no excessive drain here on LOS.. managed 19hours and 10% left today..
no experience of public wifi problems.. but I don't really use them tbh
My main problem with LOS is random freeze when display wont wake up (even when notification is working and background menu lights).. sometimes phone is OK for few days but other times it can freeze few times a day. I keep changing settings in kernel auditor but cannot find out cause yet.. for a while I had suspicion freezes are more likely when using build in browser.. but maybe it was just coincidence

but this doesn't affect the checked "Mount system partition read only" setting so I think TWRP is not reinstalled. Any idea how to fix this? In the end I just want to start over with a new installed LOS.

Ignore any warning message.

maybe sd card is corrupted, have you tried different one..?
Try wipe plus format everything and try again?
So does sideload completes fine and then you got error and bootloop?
Out of interest what ROM have you had before?
Hello guys.
I am getting serious problem with my phone. Charging is totally working with miui dev or stable rom but in every custom rom battery is not charging at all with wall charger. I have tried dotos , pixel experience all oreo or pie roms. While i connect my Phone with desktop it is charging and other things are also working like fastboot, file transfer mode. I am forced to be in miui due to this problem.
I hope someone can address this issue.:fingers-crossed:
i have exactly same issue for some time now, i really hope someone knows how to fix this.
Have you tried kernels??
On Custom Rom.
