Hi again,
I have a friends T95Z and trying to fix it up. It won't connect on WiFi. When you go to network settings - WiFi is switched off. If you switch it on - it "pretends" to search for about 40 seconds - finds no AP nearby and switches "Off".
I have wrenched on a number of these T95Z. boxes and always seem to get them working.*
Hats off to Superceleron and his ROM -* His ROM really cleaned up the first couple of these I worked on. They had the LTM8830 chipset I think.
Then I worked on a couple newer T95Z's and that ROM didn't work. If I recall - same thing where you can try and turn the WiFi on but it just turns off. I think they turned out to have the 9377 chipset. Found a workable ROM for them and all is well.
Okay so here are some pics of the insides of this one:**https://imgur.com/a/Kd2M1Ta
I flashed a bunch of ROMs - Here is like a list of some of the file names etc:

s912_atvXperience_v2FF
T95U PRO_S912_02012017_
v1016-EB-AGCF-LPDDR3-2G
Sorry that I didn't keep great notes on what I flashed but hey - once you start flashing - it is just so easy to try another one.*
Anyway - Several of the ROM's said they were for the AP6255 chipset and ALL of the ROM's do the same thing where the WiFi just won't turn on.*
Now I am not an expert on this - so I don't know:
Can you confirm - Is this a Sunvell?
Is the wifi chipset an AP6255?
What else should I try?* I wandered into a T95U ROM... should I wander further and look for Beelink or other manuf ROM's that show the AP6255?
Is there any other tool or APK that can be flashed after ROM install to query the hardware config or add chipset support?
Open to ideas.*
Thanks!

The problem is that flashing multiple ROM's can sometimes leave remnants behind and mess things up. Or, you flashed an incompatible ROM that hosed up the EEPROM. The first thing I'd suggest trying, is to go back to square one by flashing the proper stock ROM back on the device again using the USB Flash Tool and be sure to select "Force Erase All" when doing it. I've ran into the same problem on multiple occasions and flashing stock always seems to get me back up and running again.
If that doesn't work, then you'll probably need to crack it open and reset the EEPROM by shorting out the pins in order to get it into a state where it'll overwrite the incorrect code. To do that, make sure the USB Burning tool is running and the USB cable it plugged in so you know when it's been triggered. Then run a paperclip along the pins of the chip until it trips and shows back up in the tool. That will put it into programming mode so you can re-flash the ROM again completely.

Good luck!
Thanks for the reply.
I am downloading the 2G version now. I will try a force flash as suggested.
A couple of questions - when a ROM leaves remnants - what are the other symptoms? I thought that lots of problems appear when the flash is "dirty"?
Anyway - I will flash this version when Mega lets me finish the download.
If I have to move on to step two and short the eeprom - which chip in my pictures is that?
Thanks again!

Okay - well force flashed the referenced ROM and even another "Factory" ROM supposedly for the 6255 wifi chipset. No go.
They both still work it seems fine - but no wifi.
So any hints on reseting the EEPROM?
Thanks again,

Very strange. It almost sounds like your WiFi radio is malfunctioning. If that's the case, then there's really not much you'll be able to do to fix it unfortunately...
One thing you can do to verify, is to grab a file manager like FX, go into /system/etc/wifi and verify that the 6255 directory exists. If it does, then it's probably just the radio. You'll need to be rooted to do the above though. Also, grab a terminal emulator, 'su -' to root, and run a 'dmesg |grep eth' and 'dmesg |grep wifi' and see what it says. You might be able to figure some stuff out based on the output... Are you 100% sure you have the 6255 radio?
As for the EEPROM, it's pretty dangerous to do that, but if you really want to try, just do what I mentioned earlier. Crack open the device, plug it in to power and the USB, and then run a paperclip along the posts, shorting them out until the device resets and shows back up in the USB burning tool...
Okay - flashed just about as many variations I could find. I tried your trick of looking for a folder inside /system/etc/wifi and did confirm there is a directory labeled 6255 and it has some files in it. I will try to run a couple of grep commands too and post what I find. But I am starting to feel that the actual chip is faulty.
After further thought - I am not really wanting to do a dangerous step to reset an EEPROM when it might turn this from a device without wifi to a device that does nothing.
Still curious - looking at the pictures I posted to begin with - is anyone sure that the chipset is the AP6255? Does this chipset do both the cat5 and wifi networking? Or is there yet another chip that does the cat5 networking? (I know there are better words for this - just can't think of them right now)
Anyway - anyone have any other thoughts? I already explained to my friend that this one looks like a hardwire only device so I am putting it back together.
Thanks again,
You're beating a dead horse thinking some magic ROM you flash will fix it when it's clear the source of the problem is the common denominator of wifi being hosed on all of them. Especially since you said you installed roms that supported your AP6255 (as your board pic makes clear) wifi chip where everything else worked except the wifi.
You need to grep for the wifi network errors as AthieN spelled out how to do in his initial reply.

Thanks for the other hint on running the grep command.
I tried and tried to copy this a better way - but short of retyping word for word - a picture was the best I could do.

I don't read many reports from a grep command but it is interesting - on one of the lines it reports that "No power on pin 2"
Not sure if it simply is that the chip wasn't soldered in correctly?
Anyway - that is the update. Any thoughts or things to try before I give up are appreciated.

Sorry - didn't read this before my post but don't worry - I am with ya. I had a suspicion from the start. But - there is lots of "Wizardry" in these forums so worth a post.
Thanks everyone.
The good news is that it looks like your kernel isn't finding the right wifi driver on boot which is why it's shutting down. That means there actually might be a ROM version out there that supports your device. But maybe it just doesn't know where to look.
The name of your modular driver is for the AP6255 is dhd.ko.
Try loading it manually from command line as root.
# modprobe dhd
See if you can find dhd.ko in your filesystem somewhere under /lib/modules.
If you can't then try and find a rom that has your wifi driver module on it called dhd.ko.
Update: Just saw there's a more updated qualcomm driver called qca9377.ko so try to load that module or see if the file qca9377.ko exists under /lib/modules.
# modprobe qca9377

Okay - well good news bad news?
I tried to load each of those other drivers
Code:
# modprobe qca9377
modprobe: can't change directory to '/system/lib/modules': No such file or directory
# modprobe dhd
modprobe: can't change directory to '/system/lib/modules': No such file or directory
Now I need to find some other rom that has those drivers?
Or can I just find those files and place them in that file directory? Anywhere I can just get the driver?
Thanks again,
Okay - newest update
I searched and there was no folder named 'modules' in system/lib
So I created that folder and I copied dhd.ko into that folder. (I searched for the newer qca9377 but i couldn't find it)
Now if I type modprobe dhd in terminal as su I get
Code:
#modprobe dhd
modprobe: can't open 'modules.dep': No such file or directory
Oh and - newest wrinkle - somehow I installed something that pops a durex condom ad ontop of everything about every 45 seconds. What is the easy way to find the offending apk? I tried to long click so I could find the properties or something but nothing working. The only thing open is this terminal emulator??
Anyway- that is the latest.
Thanks again,
i have the same issue did you ever resolve?
me too, anyone resolve it?

My allwinner A10 tablet came pre-rooted or so I thought. I installed CWM v6.1.0.2 via the terminal emulator but wasn't able to reboot back to my OS.
I then wiped cache partition and wiped data, it would not allow me to wipe the dalvik cache.
At the end of each process I see:
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't mount/cache/recovery/log
Also for /last-log of the two above.
I have got an A10 cm10 rom which I have tried to install via the external sd but no luck.
Any help would be appreciated as I have no clue what I can do next.
Do you know the model or make of your device? What are all of the specs? If you have that information I can probably lead you to a support forum for your device.
I recently recovered my A10 device flashing a .img of a totally different A10 tablet and most of my tablets features work. I tried flashing 100 other .img files and none of those worked correctly.
Where did you get that CWM file? Was it CWM that was specific for A10 devices? You can't just flash any recovery to your device and expect it to work.
Your issue is likely that the CWM is not for your device or it's just having issues with your device. I'm using CWM 6.0.1.1 for Allwinner A10 ICS. I got it onto my device using a simple one click method, but in order for you to use it you have to be on a rom that at least boots up with the display working.
Once you give me information on your device I can try searching for some .img files for you to flash onto your device with Livesuit. If you're lucky enough you'll get one that is specific for your device, if your not so lucky you're going to be breaking your head trying to find a rom that at least boots up with most features working. It's a lesson learned, don't mess with your device unless you have the necessary resources as a backup in the event that something goes wrong.

To be honest it's just a long search through each tablets board to find a post that lists the specs. I'm realizing that's a big headache.
I personally just flashed random A10 images onto my device. Nothing bad seemed to happen to my device, but I'm not sure if the same is going to apply to you. If you feel like taking the chance you can just flash some images and cross your fingers hoping it doesn't do anything to your device. When I did it the worst that happened was that the roms either didn't display anything, displayed a static image, display was off center, touch controls didn't work, or got stuck at boot screen, then one finally worked.
I can try to link you to some A10 firmware images and LiveSuitPack if you want to take the chance.

It's very simple actually.
Here's the LiveSuitPack tool: http://www.topnotchtablets.com/LivesuiteInstall
Here's the guide for installing firmware: http://www.topnotchtablets.com/A10Firmware
In the guide for installing firmware substitute the menu button for volume down button if you don't have a menu button.
There are two firmwares to download on the firmware installation guide page, although I don't think either of those will work at all to begin with. Try them if you'd like. Give me a few minutes to boot into my other partition so I can get all the links of images I bookmarked.

No, once you download the Livesuitpack you're going to open the folder and run LiveSuitPack_v1.07. That'll install some drivers, or it'll ask you if you want to install some drivers, click Yes. From there you're going to run the LiveSuit application. Then you follow the steps for getting the new firmware onto your device.
EDIT: The drivers that the Livesuitpack installs onto your computer also make your device recognizable in ADB (if you know what that is and ever have a use for it). I also couldn't find drivers for my device for the longest and these seem to work at making your device recognizable across your computer.

No luck so far, I flashed one image which gave me a sort of cracked looking screen affect, other images I have tried to flash do not make it to 100%?
I am not sure if I have now completely bricked it?
I am still looking for images that closely match my pad and will try again this evening.

Your device shouldn't brick. I believe A10 devices have all necessary code in the chip itself, or something along those lines. The cracked looking screen effect means that it isn't compatible with your device, I came across plenty of roms that did that to my device, all you do if flash the next image.
I haven't come across any issues with it not getting to 100%. I can only suggest you retry it, or move on to the next image.

Iv got similar problems with my BC1077. Iv been trying to fix it for the last few days. Im not 100% sure, but I think the problem Iv quoted above is that CWM does not support jellybean, so it wont work with cm10, which is jellybean.
Over the last few days Iv flashed 40+ A10 firmwares to my tablet, but Iv only found 1 that installs properly and boots for me. It actually works pretty well, only major issue iv noticed is auto rotate doesnt work. But this same working firmware is also jellybean, after I install CWM I get bootloops and have to reflash the firmware again to boot.
Heres a link to the firmware that works for my BC1077 - http://www.ssb-repair.com/Firmwares/Cherry/M1007_20121217.zip
Its for a completly different tablet (Cherry Mobility - M007), but like I said it works on mine.
Heres another firmware it might be worth you trying to flash, its the only BC1007 specific firmware Iv found, but it wont install on my tablet, I always get a 0x162 error from it. Heres the link - http://www.pandawillforum.com/soft/mate sku20314 firmware for May 25 stock.rar
Good luck, let us know if you make any progress.
I think I might have been flashing with a very low battery, if a flash was unsuccessful halfway through would this not brick the tablet.
I am not getting any kind of response from the screen at all and when I try to flash although the drivers appear to load the % bar doesn't go up.

Thanks for that, I will try tonight and get back.
OK, regardless of the image I try to flash the livesuit progress bar gets to 3% and then goes back to 0% and then nothing.
Anyone?
If the battery was low and the flashing process didn't finish all you have to do is load up the exact image that didn't finish flashing into LiveSuit and put your tablet into download mode and let it do its thing. I had the same problem and got scared my tablet was bricked, so I just did the process I stated above and it finished. It wouldn't allow me to flash another rom, I'd get the little Livesuit pop up that you get after a rom successfully flashes, so if that's the same pop up you're getting don't be alarmed.

I dont think your tablet is bricked, if it was I doubt it would respond to Live Suite or PheonixUSB pro at all. From what Iv read about the A10 its meant to be unbrickable.
What error codes does live suite/pheonixUSB give you when they stop?
if youre getting 0x120 and 0x162 errors, just keep trying more firmwares out till you find one that will install without errors.
Theres loads of A10 Allwinner firmwares at this link - http://androidtabletfirmware.com/firmware_search/order=2/sort=1
Hi fellow xda'rs,
I recently bought a Android TV Stick from Geek(app) from china.
I thought I had found a bargain as its specs were:-
2GB RAM
Quad Core CPU
16GB Storage
I managed to snap this up for £24 which I thought was a bargain but when I got the device delivered and was using it I thought it was a little on the slow side so I began to think it was a clone as its default OS theme was not the same as the usual CX919's aswell.
So I wanted to flash the device with a new ROM specifically the Finless 1.6b ROM.
So after following the instructions to installing the ROM using the software provided with the ROM download I managed to install the drivers and get the software to recognize the device. I then wiped the NAND and attempted to install the ROM but it failed .
Now the device does not boot at all and is not recognized by the PC. Windows just states the device is not recognized and has malfunctioned
So I cannot flash any other or what I believer I have found to be the original ROM for the clone device.
The board states its a GXT_D16_LP_V1.8 150310
I have seen that there are tutorials on putting the device into Mask Flash mode by shorting pins but as this is for the genuine CX919 my board is totally different and does not have the pins available to short I think.
In short could anyone help me to put this device into Mask Flash mode and tell me what id need to do and what pins to short please?
I have attached a couple of pictures of the device and board.

problem solved! :d
i found the mask flash mode pins to short by trial and error and luckily enough after 1 hour i solved it and got the pc to flash it back to its original rom. If anyone has the same device or issues and would like to know how to solve this i will be happy to help
I would be interested. I have a very similar clone (was supposed to be mk809iv). I have the same board although possibly different chipset.
I haven't bricked it (yet) but will probably do so if I can't find a way to root it. I think it may have come pre-rooted as super su was preinstalled but it has never worked (possibly because the app updated but not the binary?). I have since tried to update the binary and killed the root access completely.
Questions:
Is the ROM you used pre-rooted or rootable (if you've tried)?
Which pins need shorting? I have a button on the side that may be doing the same thing.
OT. How do I upload images or can I not as a new member?
Thanks in advance
any guide? i have the same device or where to download rom?
If your still looking, i might be able to help with a rom, root, and guide.
Thank you but managed to get root the same day you posted. I may still give it a go when my new tv box turns up though if you dont mind posting the info?
For anyone else interested in how I gained root:
1. Search for, download and install kingroot 4.6.5 (this is the version I used, only the latest version is available from official site and cannot be sure next steps will work with it)
2. Run kingroot and follow steps to gain root (dongle may reboot)
3. BUY super sume from play store.
4. Run super sume and follow steps to replace kingroot with super su.
what pins did you short
I am having problems flashing my hdmi stick . I can't get it to flash mode. which pins did you shorted?
can you email me a picture of it? [email protected] thanks

Hello,
Having some problems with this stick .Messed up trying to flash a non rooted rom and now I only get a blue icon in rkbatch tool ( after short pin 5-6 ) and nothing happens. Download boot fail errors for a year...
Can someone help me please?
Is it the same model? What version of rkflash tool are you using. And what version are you trying to flash. In my case I didn't need to short any pins.

I've used several batchtools from 1.5 ( doesn't see my device at all ) to 1.8, different roms ( neomod, finless, stock cx919 roms )hoping one would give me something. All different bootloaders 1.24, 2.08, 2.13,...
I'm going to check mine out. It's been a minute since I used it. But I got the rock chip tool and the img file. I'll zip it up and pm you the link asap.

So I got a cheap android tablet and I wanted to root it. I was successful so I decided to install TWRP. I searched for my specific model and found an image on a german forum. I downloaded and flashed it and it got stuck in a reboot loop. So I looked at the image and it was for the QV1030. I tried to get it into recovery but couldn't. Many sources told me to hold Vol Up and Lock, and I tried this and more. Nothing would make it enter recovery mode. Then I read about SP Flash Tool and found the stock rom for the tablet and decided I would try to flash that. It kept coming up with an error, and every source online told me to format the flash except for the bootloader and then I could flash it. So I did. Now it doesn't show anything on screen, and SP Flash Tool comes up with error 6045. But it does show up in device manager under com ports as, "MediaTek USB Port" so I think I can still do something about it. I don't have any backups. I don't know what I'm doing. I require assistance please.
So I reflashed the entire backup and it come up with no error. The logo comes up and it plays the chime. The logo does this little shimmer effect and once it gets to this screen, it shimmers indefinitely. If I plug it in, it begins installing a driver and then stops part way through.

I left it for about 5 minutes and it finished the driver. I thought it froze but I was wrong. It shows up now on device manager under Portable Devices as, "MTP USB Device". I tried to see if it was listed as a device by ADB. It is not. Lets just say I've already learned a thing or two about this stuff. Good thing I did it on an 80 dollar chinese tablet and not my HTC One M9

I got it to work again mostly. So I realized that I wasn't flashing the whole backup. Some things didn't have a path and I had to set it manualy. Now it has CFW for some reason, but I reset it and it works now. The only thing is WiFi is not turning on. Any ideas about that?

I actually want to upgrade this from Android 4.2.2 to a more recent version. Do you guys have any ideas about that?
So I've come to the conclusion that while the device is no longer bricked, the current installation is written over the old one and things are conflicting. I know this because I looked through the cache and found filenames referring to apps I had installed before breaking it. So would the solution be to wipe the system partition and reflash the system.img so everything is fresh? Or does the problem lie elsewhere.
I formated the system partition, used SP Flasher to flash system.img and then did a factory reset. The issue has still not been solved. And now that I have done that, I don't have root access anymore. Framaroot says it was successful and I restart and check root explorer on ES File Explorer and it doesn't work.
I gained root access using a different method. However the WiFi still doesn't work. I think it may be that the mac address information was from the backup I flashed from the internet, and therefore doesn't match. I found a guide that tells me how to hex edit a file and put in my real mac address, but it's unavailable under wifi. I don't have the sticker on the back that says it either. How else can I find it?
Turns out the mac address can be anything. I used SN Write tool and an AB DB for my chipset and it still didn't solve the problem. I have no idea what to do. Can anyone help me?
I fixed the issue by grabbing a different backup from some russian website and flashing the system.img and secro.img to it. It now works fine 100%. Thanks

World first recovery flashable ROM for android TV boxes!
WARNING: This rom is under heavy development. There are bugs, bootloops and internal issues.
STRICTLY A DEVELOPMENT THREAD.
For a stable rom check out PoisonRom
A lot of effort and research was put into this device and will be put into the Amlogic ROM tool(A tool for creating roms for Amlogic devices(any android version)) so consider making a donation to me or buying me a beer by clicking on my name a clicking the "Donate to me" button!
Our TV Boxes are finally treated like standard android devices from this point on!
So here it is, this ROM is for the T95Z Plus 2/16GB variant, its stock 7.1.2(not 7.1.1) ported from the 3/32GB variant!
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE TWRP RECOVERY!
Here are instructions to install TWRP if you havent already.
Recovery
So far we have a working recovery(TWRP) thanks to @rrvuhpg
You can download it from HERE for the 2/16GB T95Z variant(Mirrored and renamed custom-recovery.img for the sake of flashing instructions)
Flash instructions
1. Download ADB and install it on your pc(not explaining this, there are 5 second installers) then open a command prompt in the directory of the custom recovery
2. Enable USB debugging, go to settings>about and click build number about 10 times, then go back to the main settings menu and you will see developer options, enter it and check allow USB debugging.
3. Connect to your device via IP address. go to settings>about>status and get your IP address. it should be something like 192.168.25.19
4. In CMD type the following commands, replace YOURIPADDRESS with the address we got from step 3
Code:
adb connect YOURIPADDRESS
adb push custom-recovery.img /sdcard/
adb shell su -c dd if=/sdcard/custom-recovery.img of=/dev/block/recovery
adb reboot recovery
ROM
Instructions:
1. Download the 2_16GB_7.1.2.zip from HERE
and put it on a usb stick.
2. Reboot into recovery(not explaining this)
3. Go to mount and mount USB-OTG
4. Go back to the main menu and select install, then choose the 2_16GB_7.1.2.zip and swipe to install!
Reboot and enjoy!
NOTE: Remember to make a backup in recovery before flashing!

Wifi module is not a factor anymore.
Aslong as your device is 2/16GB this could possibly work.
great to hear this i will be testing
I had no PC around (at least not in the same ip-range
So, i installed the Flashify app and used that instead...works great! So now i have TWRP 'loaded' i will give it a go in a few minutes....#fingerscrossed #yeah
Well...no USB-stick or microsdcard laying around at the moment and i also use 1 usb port for power and the other for remote control. So I ended up downloading the ROM directly to my T95Zplus.....no errore during flashing, wiped cache/dalvik and rebooting right now and so far so good...!

I did find a bug though, endless reboot if you try connecting wifi
So it's canned now

I didn't get a boot loop; however, attempt to activate wifi resulted in wifi switch button moving to on position and after ~3 seconds returning to the off position. Is it possible this needs to be debugged on a per-wireless-chipset basis? I'm on 8830 q201_6255....
Please advise and let me know if I can help out with logs, etc.
Thanks

From which firmware did you flash?
I don't know if partitions are different sizes and maybe that did trigger the bootloop? I come from goo.gl/hWrmxY (Android 7.1.1 with root, 1013) and that did not work so far...

Im gonna update it tonight, ill need someone to PM me, im gonna need someone to test as i dont have my TV box with me and im away on buisness, i think i have found the wifi bug, but as you can tell with the ROM ram usage is ALOT less, framework is much smoother and alot of apps have been updated from the manufacturer
Ill also be basing it on the newest build 1075(Or if anyone has a newer build PM me)
This rom will be pretty stock with more features implemented and possibly some apps i might make ffor the device

Hi and thanks a lot for works.
i flashed my 3gb/32gb variant with a 2gb/16gb rom and it's done. but if i setup my wifi in a few seconds the startup animation appears on the screen and hang during animation.
When i start the set top box with lan cable inside, it's hang at the end of start animation and stay on T95z plus logo with the space behind but without any network it's start and the launcher appear...
can you put in the HDMI section in setting menu ? to have the CEC support?

yes thats a bug, this is mean for 2/16GB variants, this is exactly like stock 7.1.2, if you have 3/32GB variant flash stock 7.1.2(build 1075)

OK. Thanks. I'm waiting for an solution about the connection trouble.
Maybe you can consider to bake a little reboot app (i use Simple Reboot) into the ROM cause it makes it much easier to test and restore/backup especially when there is no internet with this ROM at the moment.
For now I have some apk's ready on a sdcard so I will get there but would make things a little easier...

adb connect not working
Hi,
Thank you very much for all your effort Ricky. I have T95Z Plus 2/16 variatnt. I am unable to connect to my TV box using adb. I have USB debugging enabled on my TV box. The TV box and my Mac from where I am trying to run adb commands are on the same wifi network. I have tried connecting my TV box to my Mac using USB cable but still adb connection fails with error "Host is down" and sometimes "Operation timed out".
I cannot proceed further without this step. Any help is much appreciated.
Apart from adb, can I copy the files into SD card or USB drive and install it? If so, what will be the steps?
Thanks again!
I have downloaded an android 13 GSI on my infinix zero 8i and after installing magisk the wifi and bluetooth completely stopped and I figured the reason is the driver got wiped some how since when I try to view the certificate for the WiFi or Bluetooth it gives me unavailable, I got a stock rom on my PC and its got a file called md1img.img and I am pretty sure it is the modem driver because on the product info txt file in the firmware file it says modem a couple times under md1img, I tried to flash it by typing fastboot flash md1img md1img.img and I keep getting the error that the directory does not exist, how do I flash the driver?
also the UI becomes really slow sometimes after the device has been on for a little, its not that important but is there a fix for that too?
also also not so important, the camera notch is obstructing a lot of the notifications and time, is there a fix for that?
PS. I do not want to flash the stock ROM I have already wasted an entire weekend trying to get the GSI installed so please don't suggest that
PS PS. I understand close to nothing on the subject matter so if you have a soloution please type it out step by step so I don't brick my phone again.
