Does anyone know of a way to lock the stock launcher desktop. I know I can change launchers that have that feature. But I want to keep stock.

Yes, Nova has this feature - - which is great for friends with fumble fingers.
Why keep stock launcher when Nova has that, and more, like icon packs, shadows under icons, different transitions, landscape movement across screens...
I can see keeping stock firmware instead of custom ROM, but keeping stock launcher? Come on, don't be silly.

I just want to keep it things simple as possible and fast. But your prolly right will try the launcher again.
EDIT: I remember why I couldn't switch. I can't use LG widgets with Nova launcher. So I'm trading one thing for another. I can live without desktop lock for now.

OK. I have tons several widgets - - including a fantastic weather one called Beautiful Widgets, as well as calendar, so I've never used stock OEM widgets, whether Motorola or LG.

At one time I remembered there used to be an option in Google play store to not add apps to desktop. I can't find it anymore. Odd

You need to use shortcut master and go into the LG Home hidden settings
*Edit: now I can't find the setting I thought was there to look the launcher down to however you have it. So play at your own risk. Will post pics of what I meant below.

I noticed in Gallery there's drawable-hdpi (37) with all the image files in there. I suppose you could change #37, which is the background of the widget. I guess in theory you could customize any of those files to customize the locker. It's just a guess though and I haven't attempted to try to change anything though.
I wonder if this will eventually become a full blown WidgetLocker/Executive Assistant type replacement. Can you add widgets to this app? Now that would make this an awesome app!
Anyone else get the bonus feature of not being able to swipe homescreens from left to right every now and then unless you swipe the other direction first?
This would happen to me with GOLauncherEX fairly frequently on my GSII , and I have stopped using it because of that. Now I am back on stock TW4 with no issues.

FWIW, I've never had that happen to me once and I've been running Go Launcher EX on my SGS2 almost since the day I got it.
And I've been using Go Launcher as my go-to launcher app for quite a while now, across quite a few different Android phones.

I always use the conservative gov.
But I did a full wipe and reinstall today, so I'll check it out.

My biggest use for widgetlocker is to have a pandora widget and volume controls on my unlock screen so I can use it [in my workshop or garage] without needing to unlock every time.

Unfortunately, if it's anything like Sense, then the stock Motorola widgets are only accessible when using the stock Motorola launcher. Basically, they are integrated into the Launcher and it's not possible to run them on a third-party solution.

uh when I load up ADW and long press the homescreen I only have ADW widget. For example, I want to use the Favorites Contacts , the one that when you swipe down on it, it reveals a 20 block screen of your contacts. Can you check for that widget please to see if you can add it as im not from ADW.

Favorite Contacts is only available with the stock launcher, I believe.
Almost all of the stock widgets do work with third party launchers. Interestingly, they look like they did in earlier versions of Blur, without the 'chrome' of the Gingerbread BlurHome (the dark blue with gaudy glow animation).
The exception is the favourite contacts widget, which 'works' in the sense that you can place the widget on a screen, but it's invisible.
Genuine question here - aside from the scrolling email widgets and the favourite contacts widget (which is bloated) the Blur widgets are the worst I have ever used on any variety of Android. Half of them don't even launch anything when tapped. Sense, Touchwiz, Timescape/Mediascape, every OEM skin with its own widget set has been more functional than this, even if it's not my cup of tea.
What gives with MotoBlur, and what do people see in it? I swear Moto know it's awful, why else would they automatically set the first third party launcher you install as default?

I use Go launcher and when I place the favorites widget on the homescreen nothing appears. After which I can then click/hold that same blank space and the options appear to modify or delete it. I've not seen anyway to place any stock widgets while using another launcher.

It is available. The fact that those launchers are unable to handle it is another thing. Same way the stock launher does not work with 52.
So, been trying like hell to figure out how to add an extra page or two to the stock LG launcher!! Can anyone give me a clue as to what to use? I would like to be able to stick with the stock launcher, as it just seems to fly compared to Apex or any other launcher out.

You should be able to hit the home button (when you're at the home screen) and it'll show all the pages. I have Nova launcher on my OG and I can't complain.

Mine does not do that. Nova launcher does tho. So does Apex. I just really want to add 1 more page to the launcher!

Sorry, it's been a while since I've used the stock launcher.
Just pinch your screen to zoom out.. If you have room for more screens you'll see the + icon. I've been told the stock limit is 7 pages so if you're trying to go beyond that you may be SOL. You could always try a launcher if you're not too attached to the home launcher. I haven't tested how many screens are possible with it though.

That is my biggest annoyance with the LG launcher.

Right now I'm using Nova Launcher with Touchwiz theme I feel it quite fast. For weather I'm using Yahoo! Weather. Still trying to find free calendar widget like one built in.

That does sort them. It sorts alphabetically the built in apps first. Then after that alphabetically the downloaded apps.
It is a little better, but it would be nice to have all of them mixed together in alphabetical order. Can't have everything we want.
Since UX4 is an older version, do we lose any app/widget functionality by installing it over UX5 ?

Not that i have seen, i've installed it and had a quick look through it. I use Nova launcher though, gives me far superior control of what i like to be able to do with a launcher. As far as i could see it just gives you your old style LG launcher with the same abilities as the default UX5 launcher.
Yeah...Nova is by far the best option.
I also haven't noticed any settings differences. But yeah, try Nova. You definitely won't regret it!

I am really not liking the ''All white ui'' not only does it drain the battery twice as fast but it also give me headache. I hope there is a way to change it without root because i know i can easily change it on my G3 with Tweakbox or any custom theme.

Zero. Used it for years. Enables resizing of widgets, backup of your configuration...just all around flawless and awesome. Should be the Android stock launcher!

You lose LG specific widgets like weather, smart hub etc, along with weather effects on lockscreen. These are the main ones i know of but maybe there are more.

Wrong... I still have my weather effects on the lockscreen. And as far as the white draining the battery faster...that applies to Amoled displays. I don't use smart hub and Nova has a perfectly good weather/clock widget. As much as the Lg launcher has nice features i am happy living with the same options on Nova...and my lockscreen weather effects [emoji6]
