Update from MIUI 10 Beta to MIUI 10 stable without wipe? - Xiaomi Poco F1 Questions & Answers

My question is pretty straightforward: can I update from Beta (weekly update) to Stable (the recovery update to be found in this XDA thread) like any other OTA update or will I have to wipe my data first?

No, change stable to beta or beta to stable wipe your device for stability purpose.

Data loss if update from Oreo to Pie MIUI ROM?

To all XDA members and Dev, I have a simple question. I do know that updating MIUI ROM from stable to beta will cause data wipe. So does when updating to EU MIUI ROM. and MIUI 9 to MIUI 10/ vice versa.
However, when updating MIUI 10 Android Oreo to Android PIE, will it cause data wipe or loss? I have searched many threads to answer this question. Yet, nothing comes up. I apologize in advance if this is a stupid question. Thank you.
Hi,
I was running on MIUI 10 beta Oreo and flashed the Pie zip without wiping using TWRP,
all of my data was there, everything worked like normal. I did not even notice any difference.

How to do It without wipe data? Do You haverá a vídeo or something?
No, I flashed the zip using TWRP and rebooted and it worked fine without wiping.
Pie is still in BETA stage for Poco F1 and like any other BETA update, device will automatically get wiped.

To answer your question, you need to be specific, current miui version and which to go for, bootloader unlock, twrp.
In my previous experience, I dirty flashed from Miui 10 Global Stable 10.0.6.0 to Miui 10 Global public beta 8.11.15 via TWRP. After flash the rom, flash FED 17.3, clear dalvik cache and reboot.
But if you want to flash to Miui 10 Global closed beta from global stable, you will need to wipe data as I know.

From global stable to beta?

I'm on 10.1.1 but battery isn't that good to me. How I can switch to beta with locked bootloader?
Hello, my name is John.
Is beta better than stable? There are some small bugs on stable...camera freezes when return from recent apps.
Thank you

I installed it with stock updater. Just download Global beta, select package in updater and install. Backup data because installation will format storage

Hello,
Could you, please, tell where I can download global beta? Is it bugs free?
Cheers

As long as you are on the same Android base the update via update should be ok. It's the way Xiaomi is advising at the official download page.
If you are on different Android Versions or if there is some trouble - fastboot ist the "more clean" way. But you have to unlock BL.

A beta is never "bug free". What a question. :silly: But it should be good enough for daily use... Download it from official website...
So if ever a stable version would be bug free...
I can't find miui 10.1.1.0 stable or beta to download. I only found 10.0.2.0 stable (i think oreo) and miui 8.9.11.0 or 8.9.12.20 Which one is pie beta for global version... locked bootloader? Taking the title of the topic, I would like to clarify a doubt: I am in beta 9.1.24, as soon as they launch a new update of the miui beta, I update by the updater of the device? I lose the data or is it the same way it works in the stable updates?

Updating from beta to beta builds will not erase data. But, if you're a Stable user and try to install a beta build through MIUI stock recovery then your data will be erased.

Xiaomi EU V11 Rom updated to android 10

xiaomi eu Based on China Stable rom Adnroid 10
V11 11.0.1.0
Download from here
install from twrp recovery
Yeap, nice one, just dirty flashed (Clear cache & dalvik 1st) from mi.eu stable 11.0.8.0 via OrangeFox.
Everything works great so far, no issue, better then mi.eu stable v11.0.8.0 Android Pie.
One note: since the ROM upgrades Android version from 9 to 10, the data encryption changes (if you enable it), so the next time you boot into recovery after upgrade you won't be able to decrypt data to flash new stuff (as I tried to do with Magisk). Normally the recovery displays a password prompt for decryption but in my case they didn't. My solution is to flash the latest TWRP from the official website. Not sure if anyone would encounter this problem, so I'll just throw it out there.

You need to upgrade your TWRP Recovery.
I was using OrangeFox R10.1_3 when I upgraded to mi.eu Android 10, it works great with Android 10 encryption, I can see files after I enter my lockscreen pattern and flash files (I only flashed hosts file, I don't use Magisk).
