Hello,
What a nightmare today has been! I'm not electronic dumb, but I'm also not a techy. I've been trying to read up and help myself, but I just can't wrap my head around what I need to do to get back to normal. Here is what has happened.
Device: SAMSUNG GALAXY S9+ SM-G965F
1.) I tried to root my phone, and it ended up working, for a bit. It ended up turning off after a few minutes. Therefore I would factory reset my phone in TWRP, but accidentally wiped the system.
2.) I tried instaling stock os from Sammobile with Odin. But it fails every time, the phone writes: sw rev check fail(bootloader) device: 2, binary: 1
I'm completely lost and need some help
Much thanks in advance.
Youre trying to install a lower firmware version on your phone, thats why it denies the flashing process. I suggest you download the latest PDA from sammobile or updato to get it working.

Hey there. First of all I'm sorry of my bad english.
So I bought Galaxy S3 2 weeks ago. I started phones camera and phone suddenly shut down (got bricked?) Phone is not rooted / flashed. It worked well until now. Phone has 24 months warranty/guarantee, so I dont want to lose it by manually flashing.
What happens? Look this video by me:
if embed not working use this: youtube.com/watch?v=W_PsHpAgSpI
*Volume down + menu + power button combination works, but there is no factory reset option*
Can you help me? What I can do?
If only way to rescue phone is to flash it, can you link me a tutorial and if I do it, can I upload phone via Kies anymore? Will it stay "official".
Fundamental element in order to be able to complete the update process of the Galaxy is to have a firmware entirely original. If you have on your phone a test version, root permissions enabled or a modified kernel installed (e.s , CF-Root) will be unable to update.
Kies in fact, in these cases will not be able to recognize the correct version of the software installed on the Galaxy s3.Finally, in order to be able to update without problems with the tool journal Samsung there is a requirement that many neglect themselves and to which do not lend themselves never attention.
Kies allows you to install updates only if the firmware currently installed on the device coincides with the one provided for your Product Code. For the person who has carried out a procedure of root In this case we can do nothing other than install the firmware manually through the tool Odin.Follow the guide Update firmware with odin ;http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671969
download firmware stock here;http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/
Hello all,
A friend of mine has a galaxy note 2 from AT&T. I'm not clear as to what exactly he did but he says he had it unlocked and had custom firmware on his phone and the phone did an update on its own and locked up, but by looking up on the Internet all signs point to a soft brick. The phone only turns on and displays firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again. My dumb as volunteered to help him as I thought how hard could this be? Anyway Kies failed to help. Secondly I followed the instructions on here as far as downloading Odin, downloaded stock firmware, downloaded Samsung drivers. I plug it in a all appears good in Odin. Mp5 file checks OK and once it starts running there is even a progress bar on the phone showing its downloading but once it gets to the end it fails every time. The screen on the phone displays
Odin Mode
Product name sgh-I317
Current Binary Samsung official
Current status: custom
Knox warranty void: 1
RP SWREV: A3
SW REV: invalid magic string
Any help would be appreciate I've almost had it with attempting to help. He apparently didn't know what he was doing now I obviously don't know what I'm doing.

Sounds like you are trying to install a version of the firmware that is older than the one that was on there. What is the build version that you are trying? What step is it failing at in Odin? I'd recommend getting the newest version of 4.4.2 to avoid the risk of trying to downgrade.
Odin fails right at the end. I see a green progress bar on the phone as well as on my pc screen. I'm at work right now so I'm not too sure as to exactly what or where it fails. What firmware do you recommend I attempt to place on it? Thanks for your reply also, I appreciate it.

Which one do I pick?
Ok...update....
After using Odin to put this firmware on AT&T UCUCNE5 i317 Stock ODIN Note 2 the phone actually rebooted when finished and seemed like everything was normal. However it shows Samsung Keyboard has unfortunately stopped working every ten to fifteen seconds and will not stop. I tried clearing data and cache of the Samsung keyboard app and that did not work. I tried factory and data reset of the phone as well as wipe partition cache and none of that worked. Any suggestions?? I couldn't do anything so I
managed to use a Bluetooth keyboard to go to play store and download new keyboard app but I'm using my google account for that and I personally don't want him having my account on his phone.
I apologize for all the troubles, I'm trying to help him out and didn't realize I was in over my head with no experience on this.

You'll need to install a custom recovery, use that to wipe the system partition and data reset again then immediately reboot to Download Mode and reinstall the NE5 update.
You sir have been very helpful and I can't thank you enough. I was clueless coming into this thinking I could help my friend effortlessly but that was not the case. I've never had the intentions of rooting a phone or placing a custom mod on one but honestly now I'd like to try it lol!! With your help and this website I was able to fix his phone. I can't thank you guys enough. You're awesome!!!
Folks I am looking for help to recover a bricked VZW S4.
Phone is Verizon model, never rooted and it was using latest Android for VZW S4 plus native encryption (my wife's phone) I am not sure the build because phone won't boot anymore.
Yesterday out of the blue it just started a boot loop so I tried reboot and removed the battery and nothing, tried than wiping cache and even factory reset and nothing.
When I got home I tried restore the stock firmware with Odin but it failed and now I just have the failed software update nag.
I tried Odin .3.07 , 3.09 and 3.10, also tried different firmware (see pics) but Odin keeps failing!
I must be doing something wrong so any input will be appreciated.
No replies so far but i fixed it!
For however in the same situation, after losing hours trying to restore the original firmware by myself without success, to my surprise I fixed it in 10 minutes using the Samsung Smart Switch pc app!!!!!
Thanks XDA for being such a tremendous source of information!
Hello,
I've recently acquire an used Samsung Galasy S3 (I9300) and since Android 4.3 is quite old I've decided to update the phone. So I've started by rooting the device which have gone well. Then I decided to unlock the bootloader of my phone, and for this i've used the app "EZ Unlock", I clicked on the "unlock" button and then I've reboot my phone. And this is where the problems begins. When I'm booting there is a screen stuck on the device saying : "Downloading... /n Do not turn off target!" without the little white text in the upper left corner. I eventually did managed to install a recovery, the TWRP 3.1.0. But I can't do anything, when I'm trying to flash a ROM from the recovery mode I have an error 7. I also tried to flash the stock firmware via Odin, but it get stuck. Thank you for any help.
Ps : My engliski is bad, i know.
Pss : I'm not stressed by this whole situation as the phone was already quite at the end of his life.
You've probably killed it with that ez-unlock crap..
1. Do you know exactly which variant of the i9300 you have?.
2. Does the stock firmware you're trying to flash match that device/region.
The stock firmware you're trying to flash must be android 4.3. You cannot downgrade once it has been updated to 4.3, the lowest you can go is 4.3.
3. Have you rebooted the device since? What is displayed on the screen right now?.
If you have the international (btu) version I have a stock firmware to flash via odin.
Beamed in by telepathy.
The bootloader on the phone was never locked so, as @shivadow said, the app probably did something to the phone.
What error are you getting in Odin? Post the Odin log and maybe someone can help interpret the results.
You tried using Odin with different USB cables, and USB ports?
Hello and thanks for the replies,
I did finally managed to flash android 7, I just choosed the wrong image. Sorry for my noobness.
Thanks y'all !
Hello.
First person to help me fix my phone or comes up with the solution receives the reward I'm offering.I wrote LTC or XMR in the title but I can send you another coin if you'd like, the only requirement is that the transaction fees are low.
Alright so my Samsung S9+ seems either soft bricked or hard bricked, no idea which. I'm fairly new to the Android scene and made a stupid misstake..
Backstory
I installed TWRP recovery first then Lineage OS from stock, after that I then installed Magisk to root the phone. Later on i decided that I wanted to revert back to stock so I downloaded the stock OS from Updato and went to flash from Odin but It fails every time. The lates error I got was "SW REV. CHECK FAIL (BOOTLOADER) DEVICE: 12, BINARY: 11" The phone was encrypted while I was on Lineage OS and I never decrypted the phone before trying to revert back to stock, I also never made backups of the phone... I know that I was stupid and careless so you don't need to point. Honestly I was just lazy but this goes to show how far I got from trying to take shortcuts.
I also got an SM-G935F with similar issues but I got the phone in that state.
Any Ideas or solutions are highly appreciated.
Thank you for reading.
