To use the power button I have to press it firmly and hold for a few seconds, which works tho sometimes causes phone to skip right thru power on to screen off, or the like. Can I fix this with a new power flex cable and/or power button assembly? Or is it just life and I should go on this way - it is not life threatening.

Hold the power and volume down rockers at the same time.

I had no problem with it, if it hangs just pushing the power button for long time reboot the device.

This is what I do.
Same here, my phone wouldn't wake up, power, vol down for about 5 seconds forced reboot.
The manual says to force a reboot by holding down the Power key and the Volume down key.
Anyone know how /if that's different from holding down just the power key or the Power key and both the Volume down and up keys, two other things I've read mentioned?

holding the power key by its self doesnt always work. It just is a hard power down. The power + vol down is essentially the same as a battery pull.

Holding power and down volume key at the same time is a forced re-boot, and you'll automatically go into a power on situation, with the boot animations starting.
Holding just the power down button should only power off the device, and not re-boot, so you have to re-press the power button to start again.
Sometimes, though, if the phone recognizes the power down by holding the power button, once it turns off, it recognizes the power button a separate time, and you re-boot. This is actually an error, and "shouldn't" occur, but does because of the system resetting.
How come when I hold power button and select power off nothing happens
.
The only way I can seem to shut phone down is to hold volume up + power.
When plugged in it shows the battery percentage at 99% but I can't seem to get it to power on via the power button.
If you can't find a button remapping app that will allow you to use a volume button to turn it on, plugging it into a pc usb port turns it on. The power button ribbon might not actually be damaged. It could have either slid out of position, or that area could just need cleaned. Its not overly complicated to open it up
My mom's tablet is having some issues recently, but the most important issue is the power button. We thought its broken/doesn't work, but it somewhat worked when press and holding the volume up button when increasing the volume. It shows the Power options, same when press and holding the power button. Is there something wrong within the buttons? How can I fix it?
btw the other issue is the memory overflow restart issue when the tablet freezes, then beeps for a long time, and finally reboots. Any fix for that, too?
Anyone?
I tried turning on my phone (Galaxy S20FE) by plugging it into my PC with a USB cable & holding down volume up & down buttons. The phone only had volume buttons & a power button, so now that the power button has fallen out, I only have the volume buttons https://19216811.cam/ https://1921681001.id/ .
Anyways, after I tried this, I get a warning, "A custom OS can cause critical problems in phone and installed applications. If you want to download a custom OS, press the volume up key. Otherwise, press the volume down key to cancel. Volume up: Continue ; Volume down: Cancel (reset phone) ; Side key: Show barcode."
If there's an option to reset phone, why isn't there an option just to restart? When I click volume up, it gets stuck on a downloading screen. It says I can cancel & restart the phone by holding down the power button & volume down, which obviously isn't something I can do. I got out of the downloading screen by unplugging from PC & waiting a while.
What are my options?
Welcome to XDA.
Repair or replace the assembly. Part of the core functionality of the phone... you need it.
If the battery is older then 1 or 2 years replace as well. Make sure to replace the back cover seal to preserve waterproofing.
Have a good repair shop do this if you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself.

1. Use a blunt pin or something like that to press the power button area.
2. The options you see by holding down the volume buttons whilst connected to the PC is expected behaviour. You can press Volume Down button on that screen to cancel the warning and restart the phone.
'Reset' here means restart. It really is a wrong term to use and is confusing. Reset means to undo user changes and restore something to default state.
XDA should issue a clarification on this term instead of 'brick', whose usage has been far less confusing and fairly clear.
