One of the rumors was that the 256 GB version does not have the green display issue.
Can people with that version chime in? I know one user @YoSoyCarlosG had no issue with his? Anyone else?
Thanks in advance for the replies.

Its truly up to the luck of the draw. Im waiting for the 256gb/8gb black model. DONT WANT TWILIGHT lol
I have asked on Reddit too and no one with a 256gb model came forward. Going by screenshots of the device hardware screen that everyone posted from that app, they were all 128gb models. There were 2 256gb models screenshots posted one LG one BOE but both reported no green tint issue.
I feel that we still need more data to verify this though
I was about to buy the 8gb model through ebay and I even bought the case and screen protectors until I heard about this glue gate issue. What I noticed is that the models with LG suffered from that issue, can anyone confirm that the 8gb is with LG screens or not?
I really can't wait any longer to buy the phone [emoji37]

I also ordered 8gb 256gb twilight LG display from eBay. Got green hulk screen within 2 days. Waiting another week or so and reordering. Can anyone confirm that emerald green colors are Chinese variants without Google play installed? How do I know which version I'm getting if seller doesn't specify? I need international version with Google play but heard only twilight colors have this on 8gb 256gb models. Thanks.

Which seller on ebay?
I bought mine from Wonda Mobile. I heard from them today. The said that two phones were returned because of a slight green tint. They have probably sold quite a few so the odds appear small it will happen. At least that is the hope! They told me they thought I wouldn't have the problem but they didn't explain why. I'll keep you posted if something turns up. I'm not doing much gaming but I am doing things that stress the device a bit. Was trying to make an AR image and it did heat up some from doing that. No green yet!
From what I know,if you did not have green tint issue (yet). And worried about you may experience it shortly.
Go to Play Store
Down Load "Device INfo HW"
Open the app, in the "GENERAL" section,
GO find "Touchscreen."
If you see letters “LG” in the middle, it means that is LG's screen. If it says "BOE" then you are the lucky one.
According to Chinese media, if the app told you the screen was come from LG and end up with either "43" or "51".
It means there is a good chance it may have green tint issues.
Download a grey colour wallpaper and set the phone's brightness to zero, you will notice that.
My friend and I have brought 2 LYA-L0C model, and we experience the trouble, he replaced his once.
However, the new one still came with LG's screen, and he told me it's getting green again.
From the current information, I highly doubt the problem was related to glue.
Ps. we live in Canada, and I hope we have same replace policy like China, the customers there are allowed to keep replacing their mate 20 pros until they get a BOE screen one.
I tried to explain the issues to Huawei Canada, but their representative told me that it is the nature of the OLED displays.

I am trying to find out if batches later than R32CB are being shipped and when the next batch will start shipping, hopefully the new batches will have the light bleed problem fixed.

Both my original and replacement (both went back) started with: R32CB
May be a dumb question but how did you figure this out?

It does seem to have some light bleed, though very minor and hardly noticeable. I didn't get mine from Google directly though, but from an eBay seller (not sure if I can post his name here?).

Just called Google and their going to cross-ship a unit to me, at least that's how it sounded like. Needs a credit card and everything which is fine for me
I personally prefer this over anything else as I can inspect my replacement unit and it ensures I get a completely different unit.
Does anybody use the Square credit card reader with the Z Ultra? It doesn't seem to be working, the app says it can't read the card no matter how many times you swipe. The same card works on the first swipe on my wife's Note 3. The reader and app used to work fine on my old Xperia Z, just not the Ultra.
I have rooted the Ultra, could that be the problem?
Any feedback would be great, as I use the Square reader for my business from time to time.
Thanks

Okay, so i just googled "Square reader not working on android" and it looks like a lot of people with a lot of different devices can't get it working. Not sure if it's Square's responsibility or Sony's since i've read one thing here and another there, so i'm not sure. I guess you can start by emailing Square and see what they say.
I use a card reader that I got from First Data and that doesn't work either. called the company and they gave me some bs answers and said it's a faulty headphone jack which I don't believe to be is the case. also tried it with the PayPal here card reader and no luck.

It might look like it's the OEM's fault. The jacks are fine, but they haven't implemented support for these "things". I don't know if a software update would enable this or if it's hardware. This is what i'm getting after googling, so it might be completely wrong, but a lot of LG, Motorola and HTC users are facing the same issue.
You guys should go to Sony's site and use the support chat and ask if they know anything about it. It's way quicker than emailing.

called Sony and they said that they've never heard of those kinds of devices and to make sure they are compatible with the correct TRRS standard version of headphone jack used. since Sony and Apple use the CTIA standard, that's not the problem since they worked on my iPhone. so now I'm back at square one. maybe someone else had a better idea. lol

Common solutions to card reader issues
I recently had issues getting my card reader to work with my Xperia z1s. I went through lots of different channels, and finally decided that maybe just updating my app would fix the issue. Lo and behold, it did. Another thing to keep in mind is that the device uses your phone's audio function. If audio is off or turned down at all, the reader may not work.
Hope that helps.
Both old blue and new black PayPal Here readers don't work on Z Ultra (Android OS 4.4.4).
PayPal Here says Card Reader Connected, but no matter how I swipe the card, nothing happens.
Haven't upgraded to Android OS 5, but both readers works fine on Nexus 7 (Android OS 5.1) and Samsung Note Edge (Android OS 4.4.4).
Just upgrade my ZU to v5.1.1 recently, and PayPal black reader works.

It took 45 min at Mi Exclusive Service(Lajpat Nagar, New Delhi, India) centre if they have spare part available. Try to visit as early as possible at Mi Exclusive Centre (not those multi brand service centre).
Yesterday I went to the mi exclusive service centre in virar as you know that stuck Pixels are very less visible in a lighted room even though on a black background they didn't even notice. After this I convinced them to make the roomba little dark by closing some lights so that it will be visible to them as soon as they saw it they accepted the fault and told me that they will do a physical damage or water damage check water damage check is indicated by the sticker placed the mobile the sticker is originally white in colour but if water gets access to it it automatically turns purple or red colour as my device didn't experience anyone of these issues they had to replace it.It took them 1hr 30mins for this process and I got a new display without any pixel issues the people on the counter were not much educated but my issue is solved so I am satisfied just take a copy of invoice and your phone good luck

I get why ChazzMatt roasts people on here.
That's not what I said. LG made a statement that due to some new capsulation technology in the P-OLED it would be mitigated.
The article refers to the Pixel XL2 screen having burn in. It's the same screen as the V30. I was looking for some sort of confirmation of that.

Yes there is:
http://www.lgnewsroom.com/2017/08/n...o-feature-first-ever-oled-fullvision-display/
"Most importantly, using advanced encapsulation and pixel-scanning technology, the burn-in problem that has affected OLED technology in the past has been all but eliminated in the P-OLED technology in LG’s upcoming device."
Not saying this is accurate just answering the question.

There is no proof that the V30 and Pixel 2 XL have "same screen". Same manufacturer, diagonal and number of pixels does not mean "same screen". Google may have chosen to buy cheaper screens in order to increase profits, or maybe LG didn't want (or couldn't because of yeld issues) to deliver their best technology screens to Google.
I'm seeing it...
I started to notice it yesterday while reading an eBook. I'm waiting to see if it gets worse before contacting LG. I have a LG v30 from Verizon.

Sure. I noticed it last night for the first time while reading a book via the Kindle app (black text/white background). It's about 3/4 of the way down from the top of the screen. It's almost like the Kindle app is transparent, but it isn't. Hope that makes sense. I bought the phone the day it came out and have been using it as my daily driver since Oct 5th. Love the device/features. Takes amazing pics and quad DAC is impressive.
Hello everyone. Jumping in here because I am getting a V30 tomorrow. But just wanted to add to this. I have seen people point out that this is not "burn in" but image retention or image persistence. If this is the case, it's not a permanent thing and will probably fix itself the more you use the device. A device would have to be used for a longer period of time to get actual "burn in" I would think.
Well what the best way to prevent burn in? Any ideas?
I just a S8 in the store has very very bad burn in.
Don't put your brightness on 100% like they do in the stores. I keep mine on 60% generally during the day, crank it up to 90ish if I go for a walk and then turn it way down at night. I do that on all my phones and have never had burn in. My sister keeps hers over 90 all the time and always complains about burn in.

I've been using AMOLED Burn-in Fixer on my S7 edge after I got burn-in from Waze. It basically sets up Negative Colors from the accessibility options, as I can tell. the burn in is much better, but not gone (and I really wish Waze would do something about this, as it's probably the only app which will do this).

Sure. I noticed it last night for the first time while reading a book via the Kindle app (black text/white background). It's about 3/4 of the way down from the top of the screen. Here's the image: Taken from my Nexus 5X of the V30 screen, gray wallpaper in preview. You can really see it about 1/3 the way up from the bottom of the screen. That's exactly what I saw yesterday. It's more noticeable when the screen dims. I'm going to reach out to LG and open a case.
