430 for better notch handling

I have seen several folks talking about this. What is the deal? Every set of specifications and promo materials list it at 440. Yet, it seems be set at 480 in real life. Can someone enlightenment me? It is easy to change to 440 with dsb's system-writeable kernel and an app like texdroider_dpi. I just don't get how HTC could have messed this up. Especially, on a unit where the display specs are the primary sales pitch. I guess maybe the bigger question is does 480 or 440 dpi make a darn bit of difference visually? Probably not.
Peace
The screen us 440 ppi, that's just math. There are 440 pixels every inch. But HTC set the dpi at 480, so the phone thinks the phone is 480 ppi instead of 440. They did this cuz 240 is a very standard setting and 240x2=480

So basically I have question whether larger resolution drains significant larger amount of battery energy.
For instance if we take both two screens : 5.7' vs 5.7'' both use same IPS technology 1080 vs 1440 Same Snapdragon 808 and Adreno 418 3GB of RAM 3000mah battery The reason I chosen same size hardware to give as much as possible identical condition part from pixel count.
Other comparison would be 5" vs 5.7" both use same IPS technology 1080 vs 1440 identical Snapdragon 808 and Adreno 418 3GB of RAM 3000mah .
If you also have any links bring them in!
Thanks
Like my current DPI is 400 and the PPI of my device is 401, what would be the benefit if I set DPI to 401? If the extra CPU/GPU load on the extra screen area is not considered?
Any scoop on why screen resolution got worse ?
Resolution Pixel XL:1440 x 2560 pixels Pixel 3:1080 x 2280 pixels
Pixel density Pixel XL:534 ppi Pixel 3:459 ppi
Even Pixel 3 density is worse than Pixel XL ?
You're comparing XL to regular, to be fair.
The original Pixel was 1080p, as was Pixel 2, and now Pixel 3.
The XL models have always had higher res screens.
The smappler model was always 1080p and XL was always 1440p.
The highly rated iPhone XS display is 458 dpi. The Pixel 3 is 440 dpi. I'm more than happy with that!

Are there any setting to improve this 720p display??? it looks worse than some TFT displays!!!
