Well should I get the p20 (non pro) or the mate 10 pro? I'm looking for a great camera experience and for selfies too. I know the difference in specs but I'm looking for honest real life opinions. I've seen a whole bunch of YouTube videos and I have to say even though some photos appear darker on the mate 10 it looks more realistic I guess where as some pics they look really close. I heard the mate 10 pro gives great selfies and even though the p20 has a 24mp selfie cam it isn't really that great compared to the mate 10 pro.
So next week I'm gonna buy one of them for my wife so please can anyone help me? And yes the p20 is 150 dollars more expensive over here which is why I'm hesitating too.
Cant directly compare the two, only used one but selfies on the Mate 10 under low light are crap unless you use a 3rd party app like G-Cam. Huawei's oversharpening, overexposure and lack of autofocus in low light is bad with the default one.
Having owned a Mi 9 for almost a week now I am blown away by the quality of the camera on it. I already knew that Xiaomi brought their A game with cameras as I owned the Mi 8 and Mi 8 Pro.. but they stepped it up with the Mi 9
I actually prefer it to my P20 Pro in most cases. I took a few test images. The P20 Pro shots are grossly oversharpened and I don't find them to look as nice. What do you think?
Mh, I think the P20 pro pictures are better but Google camera > MIUI camera. The MI9 has one of the best (if not the best) sensors on the market, a true 48mp sensor ^^ try google camera, you'll probably like it!

I've swapped my mi8 for mi9tpro two weeks ago, and man did I made a mistake:
- mi8 is much comfortable to hold in hand
- mi8 has unmistakable and fast as hell fingerprint reader (fpr), mi9tp has hit/miss and slow fpr.
- face unlock is unusable and slow on mi9tp, on mi 8 works i every light scenario and it is instant.
- battery life is similar on both devices (5-6H SOT)
- gcam works perfectly on mi8, on mi9tp it uses too high iso values and it crashes a lot
- speed is similar on both phones, but eu rom on mi8 is perfect and was much speedier for me then mi9tp
- only thing that i like on mi9tpro is video with ultrawide camera, but man, it is not worth the money.
Anyway sold mi9tpro, a buyer should pick it up this afternoon. Bought mint condition 128GB mi8, and saved 200E
Thanks for your opinions, surely it'll give an idea to users.
I was thinking of doing the same.Selling mi8 and buying mi9t pro or OnePlus 7.I m closer to OnePlus now.Thanks.
Can i ask how much have you bought mi8 128? (Used i believe).

200€ used, mint condition, in Croatia.
My friend has op7p, it is too big and heavy for me, and curved screen is inconvenience.

Wow, thanks for your input. I was about to sell mine for the same price here in BiH, but I was concerned about the size and handling...and I was counting on much better battery.
Maybe non pro model is better choise in therms of battery life...

can completely agree your opinion, i had the same with a MI8 and the MI9, MI8 was a superior phone and as i switched to the mi9 there was a lot i was complaining about, ... especially the missing OIS in camera.
Mi8 with google cam is unbeatable so i can feel with you !
Good, to know that. Now i was think about , that i sell my MI8 256gb and i buy the MI9T PRO 128gb.So, i stay by MI8. Thx
If anyone needs a cheaper phone, or maybe wanting to a buy a phone to give as a gift.
I bought my 15 yr old daughter a Xiaomi A3 and I must say that I am really impressed with its speed, excellent camera, and overall beauty. Plus it comes with Android One, and she loves it. no doubt that it is perfect for a teenager, parent, wife or girlfriend and with its 665 processor its faster than I expected.
Finally the screen resolution may only be 720P. However the Amoled panels makes the lower PPI, hardly noticeable, and the colors are much better when comparing the A3 panel to 1080 LCD panels.
Remember 1 thing mi 9T pro its still new device that need some time to be stable of any rom also how they got same sot? Mi 9 t pro got 4k mah and snap 855 its kinda got reduced consumption of battery so maybe you dint try it much? I can agree about OIS at camera point.

Do you mean the camera on Mi8 is superior to Mi9?
I thought the closed loop motor without OIS is better than open loop motor with OIS

According to DxOMark," .....the Mi 9 is the best Xiaomi device we have tested so far".

Its a subject matter, but my opinion is the MI8 camera WITH OIS and google Cam is better than Mi9 camera without OIS.
I have a Mi8 (now my girlfriends phone) and had a Mi9 and have done a big comparison between both phones. My conclusion was to sell the Mi9 because the Mi8 does greater Images than the Mi9.
I think we both know how much value we should give to DxOMark ...
Its just a subject feeling for me and my opinion because of my personal comparison.
I've to say i got the Mi9 in the early days and i think xiaomi did a big improvement in topic software on this phone and also a camera improvement but just for me:
When comparing my Huawei P30 Pro images with my girlfriends Mi8 Images, i'm again and again blown away by the colors (gcam) and HDR+ on this phone.
My biggest disadvantage is the lack of a ultra wide angle lens in the Mi8, if it had this, i would sell my p30 pro and buy a Mi8 again
Gcam Apk

Can you specify which version/modder of Gcam you use on Mi8?
Thank you.

Thanks so much for your comments.
I too have been using Mi8 for over a year, and am wondering if should upgrade to Mi9 or 9T Pro.
Now you pointed out there isn't much improvement, I think I'll hold on to it until the next model comes up.
Cheers.

Yes, as i said, i had both phones and just for me the camera of the Mi8 was better. Even the fingerprintscanner on the Mi8 is insane instead of the Mi9's indisplay fingerprint reader.
By the way, my Mi9 unit had a big battery drain issue, this was the main reason beside the camera for sending them back. In fly mode everything was fine, but when enabling data the battery drains extremely fast i couldn't fix this issue.
As a Huawei P30 Pro owner i can say: if you've a Mi8 with google cam and do not need necessarily an ultra wide angle lens, play around with some gcam ports, find the right one and settings for you and you're lucky.
The phone does exiting images even compared with all Flagship smartphones on the market right NOW.
what about Mi9 Pro 5G version ?

I also want to know this! Because well, it's expected for the facial unlock to work worse than in the Mi8 because the Mi8 has a 3d face sensor and infrared light and all those dedicated hardware.. that's why the notch is so wide.
Honor 9X Camera Review
Every year Honor pushes the boundaries of what we can expect from budget devices with their X-Series phones. As we approach the holidays, Honor launches their newest addition to the family, the Honor 9X. Powered by the Kirin 710F, the Honor 9X brings a few newer features that set this phone above others in its class. A full-screen notch-less display is made possible by the motorized pop-up camera that houses the selfie sensor.
Focusing on Photography
With the 9X, Honor put a great deal of attention into the photography aspect of this phone. The device is fitted with a 48MP triple camera that includes an 8MP ultrawide lens and a 2MP depth sensor. The f/1.8 aperture is paired with the half-inch sensor to produce super clear photos. The AIS super night mode promises improve your low-light photos. Observe some of our initial sample shots here.
Honor 9X Camera Review - Mid-Ranger with Flagship Versatility [Video]
The Honor 9X is one of our favorite budget phones of 2019. While the Honor 9X implemented lots of great features into their device, other companies have put out some really competitive options. See how the Honor 9X compares to the competition.
Honor 9X €299.00
The Honor 9X is the first in the X-series line to feature a pop-up camera. This pop-up camera has a fully motorized design. When the selfie mode is activated, the camera will quickly rise from the top of the phone. To really enhance the full-screen notch-free effect of the phone, Honor fitted a larger display into the phone at 6.59″. The end result is a large full screen phone with a very convenient motorized pop-up camera.

Aside from the pop-up camera, the Honor 9X sports some fantastic specs and features for a phone under €300. The Honor 9X features the Kirin 710F and 6GB of RAM. There are other models that come with the Kirin 810, but for one reason or another this isn’t included in every model. This makes the processor a very mild upgrade from the previous Honor 8X which came with the Kirin 710. With that being said, there is not much to criticize when it comes to performance on this phone.
Overall, the Honor 9X is the best of the X-Series so far. While the camera is usually the main feature to suffer in budget phones, the 48MP shooter on the 9X is actually one of the best aspects of this device. The Honor 9X is a great deal for anyone looking to get the most out of their smartphone camera.
This is the best phone under €300 in 2019, but there are plenty of other great budget phones that came out this year. See some of the other good options below.
Motorola Moto One Action $249.99
The Moto One Action has really great specs for the price, but stands out because of the unique 21:9 display. Very few phones have this aspect ratio, and most of them have much higher prices. This makes the Moto One Action special, as an entry level phone for those who are looking for this type of display. Aside from this, you’ll have a triple camera setup for great photos.
GOOGLE PIXEL 3A XL $348.99
The Pixel 3A XL is the best option to get into the pure Google experience from Pixel phones, without shelling out massive amounts of money. The camera quality is decent for a single sensor design, and you can expect to be first in line for future Android Updates.
Huawei P30 Lite $279.00
The Huawei P30 Lite is a good option for people looking for a triple camera setup. Don’t expect the best quality from this camera, but the performance of the phone overall is very good.
Xiaomi Mi 9 Lite $279.99
The Xiaomi Mi 9 Lite is one of the best phones in the budget category. For the low $279 price, you’ll get a 48MP triple camera, 32MP selfie camera, a huge 4030mAh battery and a large 6.38 display. It’s a great phone for the price, and Xiaomi has been killing it with their software experience lately.
