Odin stopping at boot.img - Galaxy S6 Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello XDA im a new user here and i have a little big problem,
So my phone a samsung galaxy s6 edge g925fxxu6erd1. One day it decided to block itself at the samsung logo.So i got odin 3.13.3 and started looking for the firmware, at first i didnt new the full model name of the phone i knew only thats a g925fxxu6 so through trial and error i download 5 diffrent types of g925fxxu6 firmwares.
At first it gaved me write error ok i got another cable. The first 4 stoped at the system installation. The fifth gave me a hidden.img error. I read somewhere that u can get the full model name if u get into recovery mode but that didnt work because it gaved me an infinite system update thing. After that i observed that one of the firmwares had a csc file i flashed it and BOOM it was booting me into recoverymode. THEN i learned my full model name ok i downloaded it try to flash and it just stops everytime at boot.img changing ports check cable is the one that got me through till the hidden.img so check diffrent versions of odin check everything since 3.09 to 3.13.1 .
At this point im tyred and frustrated and i dont want to loose the phone because it was a gift( i didnt try to install or to flash anything like twrp and such before the problem occured i just put it to charg and when i got home it was in this state). Maybe its a hardware issue but idk the phone certenly charges. Can someone help me!
Update: i found m firmware with csc cp and bl for my model.

Who gives a s***t just get the TWRP for your model flash it in AP slot odin get lineageos for your phone model and flash it in TWRP.Boom you have a better cleaner android. The Samsung firmware downloading is a Headache as speed is not good and it sometimes have holes in it.Sometimes you mess things up but With TWRP and lineage you rarely run into problems.I can promise you after Lineage you would love your device.Be sure to Check Gapps for Google apps and Some custom kernels stuff. The speed is great in Lineage along with stability, secuirity, updates and Privacy.

[Q] odin stuck at nand write start / setup connection soft bricked??

Hi guys
I think i bricked my galaxy s3 (i9300)
my S3 was on android 4.1.2 official, but since the upgrade i noticed the charging problems many people had, with up to 6-7 hours to charnge fully with the original charger or more (the solution many sad was either to buy a direct charger, non usb, as for the S2 or turn back to its ICS 4.0.4..well at that moment i opted for getting back to ICS
But it seems with the new boot loader that Sammy introduced in the new software something went wrong when flashing the ICS firmware with the 3 Files (pda,modem.csc)..
It FAILED, i retried, then i got several times stuck and Nand Write Start or Setup Connection
Then i tried maybe flashing the firmware with a PIT file to repartition..the result was the same..
So in conclusion i think i made up a big mess in there...
At this moment my phone can only get in Download Mode with the 3 buttons combo (it also shows the counter etc), nothing more, it doesn't work at all..I' can't flash on it anything (except for the single PIT file) it's the only file that gets Successful installation in Odin, everything else gets stuck
(recovery, firmware..)
EDIT: after flashing the mx PIT file i have again the initian boot logo..but still get FAILED in flashing firmware process
HELP is MUCH appreciated! Thank you in advance!
I also have this problem, but mine happened when upgrading my rom (Foxhound). Can't enter recovery, only download mode works. Flashing back to stock has failed, I now want to try flashing the pit files.

HELP - Galaxy S3 is bricked !! tried almost everything

Hello xda community,
mainly my problem is in my Samsung Galaxy S3 (international) device, it's bricked !!!
Device: Samsung Galaxy S3 [international] 16GB
ROM: N.E.A.R 1.2 [ http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2126059 ]
Kernel: N.E.A.K. Kernel 2.5
Yesterday i downloaded the Note 2 keyboard for Samsung s3, but after i flashed it i realized it was for the leaked rom, so apparently
it didn't work, and all was normal, after about 30 minuites, i was browsing on my device, the device suddenly restarted so it first shows
the first screen: Samsung Galaxy S3 Logo .... but nothing else ... Stucked on that screeN ... i'm pretty sure it's not from the keyboard ...
-restarted my device [returned to SGS3 Logo]
-removed battery [returned to SGS3 Logo]
-tried to enter recovery mode (CWM) [returned to SGS3 Logo]
-removed external SDCARD
-removed SIM nothing happened still stuck on that logo.
i can only enter the download mode so I :
-tried to flash a stock rom [4.1.2 and 4.1.1] using Odin [ with 3.07, 3.04, 1.85 versions], but odin keeps on saying FAILED with red color.
- downloaded the RESCUe FIRMWARE, followed the steps assigned here : [http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...35&postcount=6 ],
but odin says : failed to partition, invalid PIT.
- downloaded the CheckROM EvoHD [http://checkrom.com/threads/resurrec...%84%A2-v4.896/], ODIN > FAILeD
- found this thread [http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1916796 ] and started with the steps assigned in the .pdf file but when I tried to flash the bootlaoder >>>> FAAAIL
NOW I THINK THE PROBLEM RESIDES IN THE FILE SYSTEM, i tried to re-artition with the below PITs,
- PIT section: I tried to re-partirion the device with three different files:
1) with the PIT: [http://invisiblek.chickenkiller.com/...-i535-16gb.pit ] i found it form here [http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2075861 ]
2) with the PIT : [GT-I9300_mx_20120329.pit] , I downloaded it from xda (can't find the link).
3) and the PIT file that comes with the Rescue Firmware.
ALWAYS stuck on: "Get PIT for mapping" > after googling and xda-ing I 1) tried another cable, 2) changed the compatibilty to windows XP in the ODIN settings, 3) tried on an XP desktop >>> but still the same message "Get PIT for mapping ... "
That's all, i really appreciate it if anyone could find me a sloution for this issue.

Hmm seems to me more like a hardware failure of some sort.
So you flashed a bootloader and it failed? But you still can power up your device and go into download mode?
that`s also weird because normally if you screw up the bootloader your device shouldn`t be powering on at all (happened to me once with my old phone).
Did you have any other weird behavings of your phone? Like unusual freezing before the device rebooted?

Scarface1991 > my S3 just stuck on that logo screen, and there is noway to flash anything, as i mentioned upward: when i flash anything Odin keeps on telling me " FAIL " ... I don't think that the bootloader is screwed, because the device is powering up, and whenever I tried to flash anything it keeps on saying FAIL but only when i try to re-partition the device using a PIT file it do some processing and then on Odin will stuck on " Get PIT for mapping "

First, this is the wrong place if you have the i9300. This is for i9305.
It's not cool when this happens. Excactly this happened to my mothers S3 also while it was in her pocket and not being used.
Only thing I could get it into was download mode. Otherwise stuck on Samsung screen. I did'nt try to flash something on it because she was afraid of her warranty.
When she brought it to the store they told her the motherboard needed to be replaced. Was not repairable at all they said. She was not rooted and got it for free.
If you live in EU there is a new law that states that rooting does not void guaranty. They have to proove that it was the root process that caused the brick.
I really hope you'll be able to solve this out!

> hhh my bad,
first thank you for your concondolences , and am afraid this is the only solution, but lets say the motherboard is corrupted or whatever > the whole device even shouldn't power up ... i don't know, i hope there is a solution for this ...
Reads to me like wrong firmware or kernel flashed and destroyed PIT partition .
A JTag repair may be cheaper than a Samsung repair .

If you live in EU there is a new law that states that rooting does not void guaranty. They have to proove that it was the root process that caused the brick.
FACT that is not a new law and applies only to the vendor of the phone does not apply to any third party warranties like Samsung's limited warranty .
FACT if you are in the EU and your phone vendor says no warranty its rooted . You will have a job to get them to accept EU law and may need to take them to court .
Personally i would just act dumb and say you think it has the sudden death syndrome problem that's p[posted all over the web .

[no tutorial]using a Galaxy S6 Live Demo Unit as a WiFi-Phablet (remove retail mode)

This is not a tutorial, I will not explain how android works or how to flash or how to root. I just want to explain what I did to get my S6 Edge SM-G925X working as a WiFi Phablet.
I'm not responsible when you do something wrong to your device and brick it!
Don't ask for fully functionality - the radio parts on the board are missing and so you will not get mobile calls or sms texts or 2G/3G/4G data connection.
Yesterday I got a S6 Edge LDU (SM-G925X) but was not able to really turn off the retail mode software (even with the right passwords found by google). PingPong root didn't work and CF-auto-root I didn't want to use because of tripping the knox flag (it would not really matter but I didn't want to)
So I decided to replace the ROM with a regular S6 Edge stock rom.
I went to sammobile and downloaded the oldest available German stock firmware for the SM-G925F since I'm from Germany. This version: G925FXXU1AOE3_G925FDBT1AODO_DBT.zip
I took the oldest one since I wanted to try PingPong root later again.
I suppose any other firmware should work as well but when it is to new, PingPong root will fail.
The *.tar.md5 file I renamed to *.tar and removed ALL files inside except these five:
boot.img
cache.img
hidden.img
recovery.img
system.img
I flashed the .tar file with ODIN 3.10.6 (3.9 or 3.10 didn't work).
After that I had a S6 Edge without any retail mode software
Then I used PingPong root to root the device and now I have all options and no annoying retail mode. Fingerprint sensor works good else I tested nothing until now.
Now I enjoy my new cool Phablet device but I'm not really sure whether I love the edges or not
I recommend you to turn on flight mode to save energy since the LDU has no radio hardware but the ROM is for regular S6 Edge and tries to connect to mobile network permanently. You can still use WiFi, NFC, Bluetooth.
Don't ask me to upload this or that or to explain it step by step. You should know what to do from what I wrote here ore leave your device alone! (sorry noobs)

Same here. I'm getting the "complete(write) operation failed" error.
Anyone could help? tried different things suggested on the internet, sadly none of them worked.
Try to delete *.bin files right in tar archive with Total Commander. It has full-featured trial and can modify tar without repacking.
I just bought a S6 Edge LDU (LRX22G.G925XXXU1AOC6_LLK) off ebay in hope of getting rid of the Samsung Retail Mode and using it as a wifi device. I followed instruction that I can find on XDA, but mission has not been successful so far. Here's what I have done.
1. Trying to disable Samsung Retail Mode but failed. Password 5444 or any other passwords that I can find just doesn't work, even the menu in Samsung Retail Mode is different: There is no "“Configuration settings”, instead, there is "Store Settings" which asks for password. Without Samsung Retail Mode disabled, the phone can't be restarted nor power off, and the entire Developer Options is greyed out (which means no USB debugging mode, therefore Odin wont work when the phone is on).
2. Flash modified rom for G925F (G925FXXU1AOE3_G925FDBT1AODO_DBT.zip, with cm.bin and sboot.bin removed) succeeded, but the phone stuck at Samsung Logo page with no light on, it also seems the recovery mode is gone, only download mode is still available.
3. I flashed stock recovery for G925F, G925T with Odin. The flash succeeded, but the phone still stuck at Samsung Logo.
4. I tried to fix it with Smart Switch, but after entering model SM-G925X, then the serial found at the back, the program just close it by itself.
Have you disabled Samsung Retail Mode before you flashed the rom for G925F?
This doesn't work on my g925x. I think it's due to the Factory Reset is still locked by Samsung. It will give "MDM does not allow FactoryReset " message when I was trying to wipe data and factory reset via stock recovery. I was able flash a G925f to the unit which changed the baseband version and Build number to G925F, but retail mode is still there and running.
I also can't find a way to disable Samsung Retail Mode. The password 5444 or galaxy just doesn't work.

how are you able to install g925f? i tried to flash base the first thread. Bricked it and now it doesn't boot up. Which version of the firmware for g925f and did you flash similar to the instruction given by OP?
After trial and error I got it. The demo version i had would not work with any of the passwords that i could find online. There were actually 2 part demo software on it. The only thing that i could get odin to flash to my g925x was cf_auto_root then i downloaded root browser from play store. Then i used root browser to manually delete all whole folders and files that had any reference to demo stuff. That pretty well wiped about 99% of it. Security settings still wouldn't let me do a manual restart, power down or do a factory reset. I still could not get odin to flash any other files until the other day when i found these files . https://www.mediafire.com/folder/79cjpyg0s604p/LDU_FIX . I then tried to flash AP and CP files and they both flashed woot woot (they are still the only ones that I can get to flash) upon reboot I could now do a full factory reset, power down, restart, etc... it has been wiped clean Hope this procedure helps. Let me know .
Thanks for that information. I was able to flash the ap and cp but still stuck on the Galaxy s6 edge live demo boot screen. i can't even go to recovery to do a reset. If i understand correctly, it's power+vol up+ home..it would just go directly to the galaxy edge boot screen.
When i use odin to flash ap and cp, it went successful and i was happy thinking that it will actually boot into lollipop. Bummer..

How long did you wait for it to try to boot ? It takes a while for the first boot after a full flash . Also, did you use cf auto root, if so which one ?

[Q] S3 I9300(International) got soft-brick...Need HELP _/|\_

My GT-I9300 international galaxy S3 gone brick itself, all of a sudden its stuck at the boot screen (white samsung ... text). I was using Cyanogen Rom 12 Unofficial Lollipop 5.1 for around 3 weeks (Everything Works Fine with few Lags and Reboots rarely in a day). I used various method's from noob to expert solution but didn't find success
Tried to reboot into recovery but no go, when i hold the buttons it just continues to reboot and reboot, only showing the white text.
Tried to reboot into download mode and that worked, i though fhew, i got a breath and not all is lost(Phone itself).
In Download mode,
It says : Product name = (Blank)
Custom Binary Download = No
Current binary = Samsung Official
System Status = Custom
Tried to recover with kies, but it complains that it cannot install new firmware (after i downloaded the firmware, extraction, and all instruction followed).
Tried with odin (several original roms with my region and the one from kies) but with no luck, odin complains "There is no PIT partition.".
Tried to repartition with GT-I9300_mx_20120329.pit but then it does SET pit and hangs on "Get PIT for Mapping".
Tried One Click Method but failure is what resulted.
Didn't Tried JIG Method (will buy if nothing works).
Is there any chance to save my phone ? I'm getting really desperate here.
:fingers-crossed:A Beer is sure to one that gets my problem solved :good:

So you just rebooted without changing ANYTHING before and then the device was stuck like you explained?
Have nearly the same problem.
Was using the original Samsung firmware. One day I want to power it on and I had the loop. It stucks on the white Samsung texts.
I cannot go in recovery mode, but I can go into Download mode. But whatever I try, there is no chance to flash an image with or without any pit-file. Always "There is NO Pit--Partition."
And: In my download mode, the product name is there. "GI-9300", no blank in my case.
Is there any chance to save our phones? :\
Thanks!
Did u try installing only a cm kernel through odin
This should bring you recovery
Bad news, blank PRODUCT NAME in download mode implies either broken motherboard, or at least broken eMMC, to the point that bootloader can't read board name.
Hard brick, don't waste your time, unless you want to replace eMMC or motherboard, which is currently not worth the money.
where to get PIT?

What is a cm kernel and where do i get it?
//edit: Cyanogenmod Kernel? I tried to patch "Kernel_Odin_I9300XXEMG5.tar.md5" with Odin, but it's still the same error. "There is no Pit-Partition".

In my case, it's not blank. It shows: PRODUCT NAME: GT-I9300
So I think, there is still a chance, right?
Nobody got an idea?
EDIT: Nevermind.

SAMSUNG S5 [SM-G906S] - BOOTLOOP/No RECOVERY

Hey Guys I'm new to this forum and apologies if this has been covered and would be grateful if someone to point me to the right direction. Link-drive.google.com/file/d/0BwqxONwTQDjiSkF3VWN0UmpFSHc/view?usp=sharing
So just briefly the problem at hand : I did an update to 6.0.1 and after this update my fone screen motion sensor stop working, didnt switch when i turn the fone side ways and also the games with motion requirement didnt work. So just recently there was an heartstone(Blizzard game update) I did the update the fone was working fine till i manually did a restart, thats when my s5 g906s went into bootloop. with a little distortion on the bottom right hand corner. Link-drive.google.com/file/d/0BwqxONwTQDjiSkF3VWN0UmpFSHc/view?usp=sharing
1.)I've already tried to restore it with kies3 manually added the S/N and IMEI it completes but same bootloop with a little distortion on the bottom right hand corner.
2.)I tried to go into recovery mode by pressing Power+Home+Volume Up but it wont enter that mode.
3.)I tried to Use Odin with the fone variant with full AP,BL,CP,CSC and pit ODIN loads all files and give me a PASS message but after this when the fone restarts it tries to go into recovering mode(top lefthand in blue) but it just turns off with a vibrate. Link - drive.google.com/file/d/0BwqxONwTQDjiVHV2RGxrSVRRNU0/view?usp=sharing
4.) So i though the recovery is faulty so i tried to flash a recovery unofficial_philz_touch_6.48.4-g906s_hsk.tar but i get this error
<ID:0/005> FAIL! (Auth)
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)
After this i read some threads saying I need root so i tried to flash from autoroot_chainfire_eu but same <ID:0/005> FAIL! (Auth) error.
Now im just stuck, what am i doing wrong? Please if someone can help me out a little would mean a great deal, thanks.
Create an account on Sammobile to get the firmware.
Use the Search to find the required firmware – enter your Galaxy S5 model number which you can find in Settings > More > About Device > Build Number.
Download the correct stock Android firmware file that matches with your SGS5 model.
Extract the contents of zip file and you would find a .tar.md5 file.
Also, download Odin 3.09 from here. Extract and save the files on your PC.
How to unbrick Samsung Galaxy S5:
Turn your Samsung Galaxy S5 off, remove battery and re-insert after some ten seconds.
Boot Galaxy S5 in Download Mode.
Launch Odin on your computer and connect your Galaxy S5 to PC using a USB cable.
Once successfully connected, click on the AP button on Odin.
Locate the .tar.md5 stock Android firmware file extracted earlier.
Don’t touch any other settings except ensuring that Re-partitioning is disabled.
Click on the START button to initiate the process.
After the flashing process is finished successfully, it will reboot and you will be able to set it up with your Gmail account
Dont forget to install phone drivers and use stock USB

Ah, you beat me to it. Also OP, don't forget to boot into recovery and wipe the data otherwise you'll be stuck in another bootloop, I don't know why but I have to do this on all devices when flashing stock ROM.

hai, i having same problem like you with my sm-g906s
before having this issue, my phone is working fine with with android 6.0.1 (PDA G906SKSU1CPF3 | build: 2016-07-10),
than 2 days ago i decided to upgrade it to (PDA G906SKSU1CPL1 | build: 2017-01-03), all the firmware i get from sam mobile.
odin process is working fine, and pass it until my phone showing my homescreen, and i can do anything even installing some aplication from playstore. just looks like it working fine, but im not tested all sensor with this firmware.
the problem is starting when i restart my phone, my phone is having bootloop, no recovery mode, and having same screen distortion like yours, in the bottom right corner.
after that i doing flash again, trying get back to G906SKSU1CPF3 version, but not working good. odin pass it, but bootloop issue still happen. after that, i trying download all android 6.01 and one version of 5.0.1 at sammobile, and flash it one by one, nothing work with my phone. trying to install twrp recovery with odin, is also not work. it confused me, because i dont know what im doing wrong
the phone work, after installing android 4.4.2 G906SKSU1ANFI | build: 2014-06-29. it can fix bootloop, and in this case, i can use my phone again, but with old firmware, screen distortion issue, and not working motion sensor..
installing twrp recovery 3.0.0-0 v4 can be done with odin with this 4.4.2 firmware, but twrp v5 and above is not working.
i get this recovery from https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/development/recovery-twrp-recovery-v2-8-7-0-t3199011
after that, i using twrp to wipe my phone, with hope it can fix the problem, but nothing happen even after wiping system, and reflash again 4.4.2 with odin. until now still having same problem, but at least i can use my phone
hope you discover better solution, and share with me, because im not sure this is hardware problem.
it sound like the recovery image is corrupted, try SmartSwitch, is a tool from Samsung. Use Emergency software recovery n Initialisation
