Went (with full wipe) from unofficial "global" MIUI 9 rom to MIUI 10 China Stable ROM (https://en.miui.com/thread-4590474-1-1.html).
Excited to have face unlock, but I can't find double tap to wake in setting anymore, also, after using the Google Installer APK I feel that something is missing -- the apps with paid subscriptions cannot fetch their paid status from the Play Store and device doesn't show up on the Play Store web-site.
Anyone has an idea how to fix either of these problems?
Thanks in advance!
Does the play store say that the device is uncertified? I've been on china version since I got my tablet and it says uncertified and doesn't show up on the website either. One of the features with xiaomi.eu is that it is play store certified, or at least fakes it good enough.

Uhm, solved it by flashing (with wipe) AICP Mordiford image. But you're probably right on the cause.
what's "AICP Mordiford image"? Is it a ROM?
It is Treble Generic System Image .

I have a Redmi Note 4 Snapdragon with MIUI Global 8.2.10.0 (MCFMIDL) and Google Play Services 9.8.79 (448-137224771).
I want to download an .apk of the latest version of Google Play Services because I don't want to register a Google account for privacy reasons and there's a program that won't run without it.
However, even after reading two tutorials I'm not sure what version will work on my phone, especially since there may be a version specifically made for Xiaomi phones.
Can someone help me out and tell me what version I should download?

Hello,
I'm looking for rom with google play certification. There is Cardinal OS but I would like to have certification on other rom - AOSP extendent or lineage ( this is my sister phone, she use Netflix and sometimes Pokemon go) . Is there any way to have this certification on any rom?

Magisk will do the job in easy way.
Long, and longer process:
1) Build an Android ROM with user build type.
2) Build a custom kernel that bypasses verified boot and some other checks reported by bootloader.
3) Never, ever do any modifications to system, even root.
Sent from my Redmi Note 4 using XDA Labs
I had certified google play on every single ROM, you are doing something wrong.

You can either use Magisk or go unrooted.
Hi Everyone,
I am looking to buy an 8 inch tablet in the cheaper price range of +- $ 200.00.
When comparing, I am still choosing between:
- Xiaomi Mi Tab 4
- Lenovo Tab4 plus 8
After some searching I have found a lot of info, but I have too many questions. Can someone help me decide?
1. I am looking for a tablet, mainly to use on Holiday to watch video's, stock camera pictures and use it as a basic computer for mail and browsing. English language is fine.
2. I have found 3 ROMs: Global - China - Vendor
Which one should I go for? I want a stable tablet with a lot of apps. Maybe install Android instead of the basic OS, but not sure yet as I haven't tried it yet
3. locked/unlocked bootloader: what is this for and how can I recognize it?
Hope you can help me which version to buy
Thanks!
Tom
mi pad 4 doesnt have official global version. so if anyone is selling one with global rom, its fake. buy one with china rom, than unlock bootloader and flash xiaomi.eu rom. you should be good to go after that. this is what i did, and i use my tab mostly for internet use and media consumption, and its working fine after doing those steps.
Mi Pad 4 has better specs (i.e. CPU and battery) than Lenovo.
See #2 reply.
You need unlocked bootloader to install custom ROM, including the xiaomi.eu ROM. Most Mi Pads are sold with locked bootloader and you need to wait for a month to unlock (you can use the device as usual while waiting). Some Mi Pads are sold pre-unlocked, seller would highlight it. Do note locked bootloader is totally different from carrier-locked. All Mi Pad are carrier-unlocked.
China ROM has English language, but doesn't include GApps (e.g. Google Play Store/Services). While you can easily install it through the MIUI App Store (or directly download the APK), but it doesn't always work.
That's why some users install xiaomi.eu ROM because it includes GApps and supports more languages. But again, you need unlocked bootloader.
Here's what you can do once you got a Mi Pad:
Install the apps you want through Mi App Store or Yalp Store. Yalp Store allows you to install apps from the Play Store without using the Play Store app. If you depend on Google Account, then those apps probably won't work, so you need GApps.
If you need GApps, try the Google Installer from Mi App Store or its APK.
If that doesn't work, you need to unlock bootloader and flash xiaomi.eu ROM.

Thank you so much for this reply, it's exactly what I was looking for.
So I will go for the China ROM, which will be fine to start. If needed, I can unlock the bootloader and set up the Xiaomi.eu ROM, thank you very much! Will this cause the tablet to slow down or will it work just fine?
EU ROM should have similar performance.
I'm not the developer of this rom obviously, but the Calyx team recently released CalyxOs for the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro in Beta version.
Let's just use this thread to give feedbacks, opinions about this ROM and how it performs on your device!

installing,,,,thanks
I flashed CalyxOS on my Pixel 2XL a couple weeks ago and I'm liking it. I think I can finally dump Google Voice, too, so Calyx on P6 might be my next big move.
I flashed my pixel 6. I have to say the installation was fast and really easy ! I have one problem though, I can't install any apk. The weird part is that I can install app with fdroid and aurora but not from apk files. If anyone knows what I can do tell me
I haven't got around to trying it yet. Will test myself and report back. What about from adb? (adb install ...)

I solved my problem. First the file explorer does not have install privilege by default so I gave it the oermission. Then it was duckduckgo browser fault. It removes the extension part, I had to rename the file with an ".apk" at the end.
It might help someone in the future.

Make sure the file extension is still APK if you try to download them on duckduckgo edit: nevermind I just saw your last message lmao
Do you have to root your phone to install CalyxOS?
Also, is there a list of popular apps that don't work MicroG?

root isn't necessary, just an unlocked bootloader and working USB drivers.
I'm not aware of a list but it would be interesting to see one. Narrowing your question to specific apps might fetch a better answer. At one time I ran /e/ Foundations's ROM and never came across app barriers I thought mattered for a de-googled phone.
Is Calyx OS good for my usage ?
I'm using a lot of google apps (photos, maps, gmail (not in push), drive) but I don't want to give out all my information to Google constantly...
Is it possible to use Gapps with microG ?

update : found what i need from aurora store and work on calyx v. 3.1.1
I flashed CalyxOS on Friday with MicroG and I have to say I'm not missing anything so far apart from Google Pay. All my other apps work as they should.
The only problem is some of my most used apps are activated via in app purchases which isn't detected by the Aurora Store, so I've contacted the devs to see if there is a way to activate it manually.
All in all I'm really happy with Calyx so far.
Hi, can someone help me go back to stock rom after installing calyxos .
Update after about a month of CalyxOS and one OTA update. Really happy. Was adamant that I would go with GrapheneOS but somehow COS looked good out of the box and fit my use case real well (no microg). Fdroid, Aurora, Signal all pre loaded for me.

Hi everyone,
After reading and checking alot of threads here and in 10 pro threads of how to install OxygenOS on chinese varinet devices, i found out that alot of people bricked their devices, and there is no clear reason for that, sometime due to ignoring the unknown partitons, may be after relocking the bootloader .. etc.
so as long as there is no MSM tool i think i will stick to ColorOS.
i will receive the device (Ace Pro) this week.
Just i want to ask, how can i install google services on the phone (get sync, contacts, autofill password, having all apps ..etc) ..
and what is the overall experince of the colorOs
if you could help to test the Google Pay. I had a OPPO FindX3 pro Chinese version run native ColorOS, although i manage to get install GMS and all Google service, however Google Pay will failed after few days, but ok in the first few days of adding credit card. I had no solution on this for a year. Wanna know if Oneplus running on ColorOS would have the same probelm.
