Is there any way to have google play certification on custom rom? - Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Questions & Answers

Hello,
I'm looking for rom with google play certification. There is Cardinal OS but I would like to have certification on other rom - AOSP extendent or lineage ( this is my sister phone, she use Netflix and sometimes Pokemon go) . Is there any way to have this certification on any rom?

Magisk will do the job in easy way.
Long, and longer process:
1) Build an Android ROM with user build type.
2) Build a custom kernel that bypasses verified boot and some other checks reported by bootloader.
3) Never, ever do any modifications to system, even root.
Sent from my Redmi Note 4 using XDA Labs

I had certified google play on every single ROM, you are doing something wrong.

You can either use Magisk or go unrooted.

Max 2 fails SafetyNet, does it have malware?

So I got a Max 2 x829 which came with a case. It's running Android 6.0.1. It fails SafetyNet CTS and Basic Integrity, so does not run Pokemon Go. Is this expected, or did a reseller add malware on the device?
Mine suffers from the same problem. Where did you buy yours?
I wouldn't put much stock in safety net.

What do you mean? Not passing SafetyNet means not being able to play/download some of the best games on the PlayStore. I think it's relevant.
Same here. I'm using cuoco92 ROM. I tried safety net that comes with magisk manager, but it doesn't work. I really doubt that there is malware installed, but I've no idea why it fails...maybe because ROM is rooted?!
Let me think about this... Most people have buy this device from a international reseller shop instead of the official Leeco store or online shop. Makes sense cause I'm pretty sure that most of the users here on the board are not living in China or India.
Every online shop is installing a custom ROM to make sure that as many languages as possible are supported. The most installed "Shop-Rom" is couco92...
As far as we know every Android device that is able to run a custom ROM needs an opened bootloader and especially couco92 comes with the ability to run SuperSU and Root!
If you just search Google for "SafetyNet" you find an official statement why it's not possible to run Banking or
Pay-Apps and why there's no possibility to run games like Pokemon go on rooted devices!!!
So let me think again about this...
Sorry guys but I also don't understand why the hell this device isn't able to pass the SafteyNet check! It must be because of malware or something like this!!!
Sorry for being so damn ironic! Hopefully it's self explaining why I wrote a post like this and you are able to get the informations you are looking for from the text...
Thanks for the answer, albeit the unnecessary sarcasm. Assuming that's true (which sounds quite reasonable) would the original ROM fix the problem? is the original ROM maybe supporting english language? And could anyone confirm such ROM does indeed pass SafetyNet checks? Thanks!
So ended up flashing the last Indian stock ROM. That solved the "basic integrity" check and now I can download from Play Store apps not previously visible. However, still does not pass the CTS check.
I believe such checks are over exaggerated, hackers can hack strongly locked iPhones or anything similar, so it doesn't matter CTS pass or fail as long as you keep your phone fully scanned with reasonable antivirus/security apps.
I think thats because your phone has bootloader unlocked.
This is the reason:
Devices that ship with Google's Play Store and other apps installed must pass Google's Android “Compatibility Test Suite”. Rooting a device or installing a custom ROM prevents a device from being “CTS Compatible”. This is how the SafetyNet API can tell if you're rooted–it merely checks for CTS compatibility. Similarly, if you get an Android device that never came with Google's apps–like one of those $20 tablets shipped direct from a factory in China–it won't be considered “CTS compatible” at all, even if you haven't rooted it.

Heyyo, use the official LineageOS MM ROM. It passes safety net. There's some other ROMs but I'm not sure. I'll try it on Mokee MM build and report back.
RR N fails Safety Net as it is pre rooted and some other tweaks that cause it to fail.
Oh, another reason why it can fail safety net is modem firmware. You might have to revert to a Chinese or Indian or international modem firmware. I don't think developer firmware works for SafetyNet

I can't pass SafetyNet with latest (04/29) LineageOS 13 nightly. I tried with Chinese 23S modem, wipe everything except Internal Storage, and install Open GApps Pico. I still get CTS Profile Mismatch. I tried with it as my Internal ROM under MultiROM, which I believe should be OK. I think it's expected to fail if installed as a Secondary. In any case, I have no particular reason I need to pass SafetyNet, I just thought I'd try. I've read that on newer Android devices, an unlocked bootloader can cause SafetyNet to fail (unless kernel is patched). I didn't try re-locking my bootloader so that could be it.
Heyyo, hmm well I tried ASOP based DU rom but it failed too but then again I'm using MultiRom as well so I'm unsure if that messes with it since it's a custom boot.img which I think is part of the SafetyNet check...

Pokémon Go isn't working on LeEco LeMax2

Hi, everyone.
I have not been able to play Pokémon Go on my LeMax2 (X829).
I'm using Cuoco92 (28S_M18.4).
Magisk (v.16.0) and Magisk Manager (5.7.0) are up to date. And the Pokémon Go is marked in the Magisk Hide.
But, despite all this, the game does not open on my smartphone. What could be happening?

I was using cuoco92 too, so I decided to change my ROM to a new one, I installed Pixar with Android Oreo 8.1 and after it Magisk Manager. Hiding Pokemon GO with magisk was working ok, but this new ROM was not focusing the camera...

The reason is that the selinux mode of stock bootloader(boot.img) is in permissive, so you could not play Pokemon Go.
I tried to solve the same problem for a few months ago.
I tried several ways in various ways and eventually succeeded.
You can pass the basic integrity of the safetynet test by disassembling the bootloader and adding "enforcing=1" to the cmd_line.
The selinux mode will change to be enforcing and you could play Pokemon Go without Magisk.
I am an x820 user, I think that x829 has same problem.
I tested on 26s and 28s rom of X820, not test on 30s yet.

Heyyo, the reason. Why 26s, 28s and 30s struggle is they are Chinese ROMs which were never Google SafetyNet certified so they will never pass without attempting Magisk.
Only North American, Indian and Russian (afaik anyways) builds of EUI ROM are SafetyNet certified.
It also requires bootloader to be locked.
Otherwise? You will need a ROM that exploits SafetyNet via the kernel with a greenlight hack. LineageOS Pro, DU12, Pixel Experience and tbh I'm unsure which other ones have it. I do remember that OmniROM Nougat official builds had it as well.
Please note I said LineageOS Pro by GalaticStryder and not official LineageOS since LineageOS team is against exploiting SafetyNet as to abide by what Google wants custom ROMs to do. That's also why they dropped user builds for userdebug builds.
Hope this makes sense.
You need to back for 19s Indian stock.

Heyyo jorgeffonte, have you tried relocking your bootloader in developer options and then rebooting?
If that doesn't work? Maybe you will need the EUI ROM x821 19s as it definitely passes SafetyNet.
Otherwise? After a bunch of changes on LineageOS 15.1? We do pass SafetyNet without any hacks... But the issue for Nintendo games is it will detect bootloader unlocked and that it's a userdebug build, so Pokémon Go wouldn't work unless you used Magisk...
It's quite the bummer that Nintendo are very anti-custom ROM...
I'm on revengos with magisk with the hide module and it works fine.

Family Link on custom rom

Hello together.
My Problem is that I want to give my Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 with Snapdragon SoC to my daughter.
I tried to login with her Google Account and the device Shows like picture below.
IT says Update to Android 7 and Google Service is recomended.
I tried with official Lineage OS 15.1 and Pixel Experience Oreo, always the same notification comes if I try to login my daughters Gmail Account.
Is there any solution for this? Is family link not working with custom Roms at all?
Please help me.

Did you flash GApps?
On Lineage 15.1 I installed gapps from open gapps.
On pixel experience i didn't Flash Gapps because they are included in that Rom. Between Rom Installation I always did a wipe.
Nougat
So try to flash nougat firmware with latest gapps and see if it works instead of Oreo.
@Bietschek Have you a solution for this?
I'm having a similar problem with a Redmi Note 3.
No, I don't have solution for custom Rom.
I flashed back original latest Miui. Now it work's.

what rom do you use? could you provide a link?
I had some issues on miui roms(like rebooting and forceclosing of some apps/games) and none of that on custom pie roms, but family link works only on miui.

I was on different Lineage OS Rom. And in all family link didn't work.
Flash micro gapps
I had exactly the same problem today.
The solution is using "stock" package of gapps.

You can get Family Link App directly from the Play store now. There's an App for parents and another one for children/teens:

Hi,
of course I can, but I have to create account on device first. And that is not possible for children account. When I create "normal" account, then I can not create childrens account as second account (that is blocked by family link). So children account must be the only one account on device and it is not possible to create right after fresh LOS and gapps installation.

Maybe this helps you in this german Google support forum. https://support.google.com/accounts/thread/11832480?msgid=11935346
Unfortunately even with this workaround I did not get it to work on an old Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 SE (kate) with pie custom rom (Havoc OS) and gapps (standard/stock, micro, mini). Is the open bootloader the problem at the end of the day?
I have the same problem with a note 3 SE kate, only works with stock rom.
I found a solution to get Family Link working on custom ROM and GAPPS:
0. Be sure, that on parents device Family Link (for parents) is installed and working.
1. Create an adult (>21y.o.) account for child (maybe will be acceptable change age in existing account).
2. Sign in with this account in child's device.
3. Install Family Link for kids on child's device - but no setup is needed.
4. Log in in browser on PC in this account and change age to <13 y.o. - this will cause alert, that this account should be bind with parents account or will be suspended in 14 days.
5. According to instructions from previous alert - perform binding your parent and child accounts.
6. After successul binding - on child's device will be a notification, that account is needed to setup - perform it.
7. Profit!
Tested on two Xiaomi Mi4c - LineageOS 14.1 + opengapps (micro) and LineageOS 17.1 + opengapps (pico).

MIUI 10 China Stable ROM -- post-install questions

Went (with full wipe) from unofficial "global" MIUI 9 rom to MIUI 10 China Stable ROM (https://en.miui.com/thread-4590474-1-1.html).
Excited to have face unlock, but I can't find double tap to wake in setting anymore, also, after using the Google Installer APK I feel that something is missing -- the apps with paid subscriptions cannot fetch their paid status from the Play Store and device doesn't show up on the Play Store web-site.
Anyone has an idea how to fix either of these problems?
Thanks in advance!
Does the play store say that the device is uncertified? I've been on china version since I got my tablet and it says uncertified and doesn't show up on the website either. One of the features with xiaomi.eu is that it is play store certified, or at least fakes it good enough.

Uhm, solved it by flashing (with wipe) AICP Mordiford image. But you're probably right on the cause.
what's "AICP Mordiford image"? Is it a ROM?
It is Treble Generic System Image .

I flashed CalyxOS on my Pixel 2XL a couple weeks ago and I'm liking it. I think I can finally dump Google Voice, too, so Calyx on P6 might be my next big move.
I flashed my pixel 6. I have to say the installation was fast and really easy ! I have one problem though, I can't install any apk. The weird part is that I can install app with fdroid and aurora but not from apk files. If anyone knows what I can do tell me
I haven't got around to trying it yet. Will test myself and report back. What about from adb? (adb install ...)

I solved my problem. First the file explorer does not have install privilege by default so I gave it the oermission. Then it was duckduckgo browser fault. It removes the extension part, I had to rename the file with an ".apk" at the end.
It might help someone in the future.

root isn't necessary, just an unlocked bootloader and working USB drivers.
I'm not aware of a list but it would be interesting to see one. Narrowing your question to specific apps might fetch a better answer. At one time I ran /e/ Foundations's ROM and never came across app barriers I thought mattered for a de-googled phone.
Is Calyx OS good for my usage ?

update : found what i need from aurora store and work on calyx v. 3.1.1
I flashed CalyxOS on Friday with MicroG and I have to say I'm not missing anything so far apart from Google Pay. All my other apps work as they should.
The only problem is some of my most used apps are activated via in app purchases which isn't detected by the Aurora Store, so I've contacted the devs to see if there is a way to activate it manually.
All in all I'm really happy with Calyx so far.
Hi, can someone help me go back to stock rom after installing calyxos .
Update after about a month of CalyxOS and one OTA update. Really happy. Was adamant that I would go with GrapheneOS but somehow COS looked good out of the box and fit my use case real well (no microg). Fdroid, Aurora, Signal all pre loaded for me.
