I recently rooted my phone to the latest Siyah version. I noticed the capacitive buttons not working correctly and then I noticed the version I had was for I900. I went into cwm and installed the correct kernel for my phone but it did not fix the problem. I realized after that I didnt clear the cache. So I went into clockwork recovery and tried to fix that but I hit something to cause my phone to go to a black screen and had litle flashes every once in a while. I took out the battery and the galaxy screen with the triangle pops up but then goes to black. If I hit the power button it will show the battery charging button briefly but then goes away.
After all that. My question is can my phone be saved?
Thanks,
Mike

Yes, almost certainly.
First, please confirm the model of your phone. Do you have SGH-I777?
You will need to boot into download mode, and install the stock Gingerbread firmware UCKH7 that the phone originally came with. From that point, you can update or modify the phone as you prefer.
From what you say, it sounds like you need to do a fair amount of reading of the sticky post items such as the faq and guides and elswhere in this forum to get a good foundation of information about the phone and how it works. Understanding makes it much safer to work with your phone.

Yes. I have the I777. When I originally installed the kernel I downloaded it from the I777 section and it was supposed to be a 1 click thing till I realized those little issues of the I900.
I finally got into odin mode and it says its downloading. I can also now see it on my computer. Not sure what its downloading but its better than the black screen i was getting. Been on the downloading screen for 5 minutes or so. Just gonna leave it downloading till it does something or someone tells me something better to do
Thanks for your help!
***Update I downloaded the UCKH7 on to the phone and Odin(on the computer said successful) The phone is still stuck on Downloading... Do not turn off target. I didnt have the auto reboot selected on Odin. Should I try diusconnecting the phone and rebooting with the power button or just wait until it does it? been hung on it for 10 minutes even though the computer said it was done.

It showing downloading, but you open odin in compyuter to download. Are you downloaded stock rom like UCKH7 from here or here to flash via odin?

Go to the guide how to install custom binaries... which is linked in my signature. Read it untill you understand the basics. It will explain how to use Odin and download mode. Once you understand, flash the UCKH7 stock plus root package that is linked in the guide. This is assuming that you want root and to customize your phone.

if u follow the guide then u prolly have a rooted stock(assuming u used the rooted stock package) which Kies is not friendly with maybe due to having a non-stock kernel, also 2.3.4 is GINGERBEAD. Now if u plan to flash ICS ROM's i suggest forget bout Kies & go back to the guide & learn how to flash a kernel w/ CWM.
I had tried to root a friends I605 or Verizon Note II yesterday and about 3/4 of the way through Casual's one click method on the VramC3 4.1.2 version it failed. This left my phone in download mode and upon removal of battery and reinsertion, the phone just went into a boot loop. This is an error that is known to Casual and is being worked on, same error can occur if you use the wrong version on the wrong software version. This can just be resolved by flashing the pit only file the schI605-16gb.pit which you can find on this forum, in Odin. Just use Odin to flash this file alone in the PIT section not the pda or phone section. Your phone will boot and work correctly. If you discover you have the corret Casual package just retry the process, it worked for me the second time.
Thank you very much for your post. Much appreciated and know this will help out others. I'll add this to the FAQ board.
Where did casual fail for you and what error did you get?
i'll keep this thread saved just in case something goes wrong during my root
This really helps those who got failure through the CASUAL. Thanks a lot!

Can I ask you how you were able to just flash the pit only file? I have tried to do that and it says no binary is selected? I have screwed my phone up and am trying everything possible to get it back in working fashion. Thank you

I have experienced a problem with certain versions of Odin trying to just flash the pit file. I used Odin3 V1.7, try using that version, and if it doesn't work, switch computers.

No problem guys, I know how frustrating it was for me to sit for hours trying to figure out what was wrong, not even being able to flash stock to it. It failed for me right as it was pushing files. I know it failed for several people in older versions, not VRAMC3, at the recovery flash portion of it. I finally took one piece of the alternate flash method, which was to flash both pit and stock firmware, but after that didn't work I instead just flashed the pit. Worked flawlessly.

if your refering to the "all in one stock root rom" thread i've checked that already and all the att links are dead.
Just plug it into KIES and restore to stock, root then install your custom rom.

in General Forums / Super Everything Thread
you did not list your carrier or device in your post, but there is a whole list of options here. I have myself scanned through list and yes am aware many of links are dead, yet this was the 2nd one I checked.
if this is for your device and what you are looking for then you are ready to go.
here is the thread containing the file, first link is up
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2261598
if not, check the last post in this thread. you will find a link provided from "developweb", see if that is what you are looking for, be sure to hit his thanks button. I am not going to send one of my files, again simply, because you have not told anyone device or carrier. you have already flashed wrong file once and I don't know how, but I don't want to be responsible for anyone bricking their device.
you have been a member long enough to know what information folks need and long enough to know to read. if you can provide this information, then maybe I can help you further if needed.
good luck and keep us posted

I recently updated my g870a to the latest and not-so-greatest build.
I didn't like the way it felt, and being the way I am, I tried to do things myself.
So I downloaded Odin and tried to flash the previous update (4.4.4), but I pulled a stupid and soft-bricked it after flashing it. I decided to be stubborn and I fiddled around with the recovery boot and probably screwed it over even more.
Can anybody please help me out? I Would like to get my phone back in working order :/

Just a little bit of troubleshooting to check the situation, see if this can help.
Where did you get the firmware to downgrade it? What Odin version are you using? Was the flashing successfull? Do you have a custom recovery?
Ciuffy's SM-G900F CM 12.1 spirit hath marked this way.

Sammobile -> Firmware -> Search for your device. It's important to know where did you get the firmware, because AT&T is strange to work with. Do you still have the zip you flashed? See if this is your case, but don't flash anything yet:

I'm not sure, it was NE4 and the file was from several days ago on a computer that wasn't mine. I have the file on a flash drive, but I'll have to finish work before I can go home and retrieve it. Would you like to see the actual file itself? I'm sure I could upload it to a Dropbox or something.

You are having exactly the same problem as here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2798396
This had a solution link thanked 2 times here:

But is for a900 device, try and follow the instructions there except trying with the firmware you downloaded.
If that firmware doesn't work, try flashing this, also have a look around

I don't care how you get it to work, as long as it works and I can use it for phone calls and such. I tried to get safe strap on there, it didn't work. Tried Odin, didn't work. I'm a bit frazzled at this point.
Long story short, I was trying to install a new rom onto my phone and odin failed. Now I can't do anything but access the download menu. Smart switch says my phone is unrecognizable and I can't get anything to pass on odin. I don't know what to do and I'm at a wits end. I spent over $400 on this phone which is a ton of money for me. If anybody can help me get out of this mess, I would be so grateful.

Well, I managed to fix it on my own, but I probably screwed it up even worse now. I have the SM-G925; it's international as well and unlocked. Unfortunately, when I fixed it I got mad because it said it was still rooted, and I checked up nand erase all on Odin like an idiot. Now it's stuck on the samsung logo and won't boot after I try to install new firmware. (I have the firmware I need) is there anything I can do, or do I have a new brick?
EDIT: I don't know if this helps, but I can install TWRP on it and access the download menu. I've been reading that I need a pit file or something, right?

I'm actually so stupid. I just waited a lot longer this time and it seemed to go through. I felt like it was taking a lot longer than a usual firmware flash. It went through this time. Thanks for your patience, however.
