Long story short, I was trying to install a new rom onto my phone and odin failed. Now I can't do anything but access the download menu. Smart switch says my phone is unrecognizable and I can't get anything to pass on odin. I don't know what to do and I'm at a wits end. I spent over $400 on this phone which is a ton of money for me. If anybody can help me get out of this mess, I would be so grateful.

So what firmware are you trying to flash? What model do you have? Which region are you in, is the phone carrier locked? Answer these and we will take it from there

Well, I managed to fix it on my own, but I probably screwed it up even worse now. I have the SM-G925; it's international as well and unlocked. Unfortunately, when I fixed it I got mad because it said it was still rooted, and I checked up nand erase all on Odin like an idiot. Now it's stuck on the samsung logo and won't boot after I try to install new firmware. (I have the firmware I need) is there anything I can do, or do I have a new brick?
EDIT: I don't know if this helps, but I can install TWRP on it and access the download menu. I've been reading that I need a pit file or something, right?

What firmware are you trying to flash and I can post you the PIT file? How long are you leaving it on the Samsung logo at boot? I as because the first time it can take around 10-15 minutes to boot

I'm actually so stupid. I just waited a lot longer this time and it seemed to go through. I felt like it was taking a lot longer than a usual firmware flash. It went through this time. Thanks for your patience, however.

Hi all, I hope you guys can help as I'm coming up blank here after days of trying to fix this.
First, yes I read this thread and a few people were reporting the same problem but the solution was always to flash a stock firmware with odin.
Right now my wife's phone is stuck in a boot loop, she doesn't do anything out of the ordinary with it, I rooted it when she first got it 3 months ago and then flashed a stock kernel to get rid of the yellow triangle and it has worked perfectly until last week when she told me it was stuck at the galaxy s2 logo. No problem I though, I'll just flash a stock rom with odin and all will be well.
Well it didn't work out that way, I've flashed the original firmware, an ICS leak, Villainrom 1.1 and XXKI3 multiple times, with and without pit file + re-partition. I've flashed the old bootloader and I've tried a few custom kernels as well, and multiple combinations of the above. Nothing is getting it past the boot loop. The only result I've had that is any different to how I started is with an ICS build I got a screen saying kernel panic upload (or something like that, I don't have that rom flashed at the moment). When I connect at this time odin recognises the phone so I guess it's in download mode.
I can't get into recovery mode so I can't do a factory reset, when I press vol-up, home and power I get a blank screen for a moment followed by the same boot loop. I can get into download mode and odin is reporting successful on every flash. When I flash a custom rom or kernel I get the yellow triangle, it goes away when I flash a stock rom or kernel.
According to my wife just before the crash android market reported updates available and she installed them. I don't know if that's related or not but she says when she went back to the phone it had hung so she turned off the phone, upon turning it on it was stuck in boot (the big animated purple S part of the boot) so she removed the battery and since then it doesn't get past the initial galaxy S2 screen, sometimes, depending on which kernel it's on, the galaxy screen goes blank for a second or two and then the logo comes back.
I've really tried everything I can think to try, warranty isn't really an option as I'm in Saudi Arabia and I've been told it will take 3 months to get the phone back, also I can't easily access a jig, I'd have to make one and I'm not too confident in my ability to do that.
If anyone has any ideas at this point please help, I can't think of anything else I can do here.
tl;dr random boot loop, tried flashing everything I can find, no recovery mode but download mode works fine, help!

Flash a full wipe firmware and see if that helps, if you need one there is a link at the bottom of my insecure kernel thread.
Thanks Odia,
I just flashed the firmware at the bottom of your thread, I9100XWKE7_CL215725_REV02_user_low. Tried it twice for good measure.
Unfortunately nothing has changed on the phone, still can't get into recovery or past the galaxy s2 logo.

Have you tried with repartition and update bootloader ticked?
I didn't tick either of those this time but I have ticked repartition with a different firmware that came with a pit file. Do I need a pit file or can I tick repartition without it?

You need a pit file, use the 1 from the other firmware.
Ok, I just tried XWKE7 again with a pit file with re-partition ticked. Also tried flashing the old bootloader again with update bootloader ticked.
No change I'm afraid.

Most strange, look like your off to service
That's most unfortunate, I'm in Saudi Arabia and they have quoted 3 months to get the phone back under warranty although in reality I'd be lucky to get it back at all.
Are my options really exhausted or is there anything extreme I can try?
I ended up making a jig and took it for warranty repair and they were able to do it locally, it only took a few days.
The curious thing is even though I repartitioned several times using two different pit files the sdcard partition was still intact.
I'm pretty sure I was doing it right and the yellow triangle was coming and going as I was flashing stock and custom kernels so the flashes were taking.
I don't speak Arabic so I couldn't ask how they fixed it but what do you think was the problem? I was very surprised to find the data intact, it even had the same stock ROM that I flashed before I took it for service still installed.
Anyway thanks for your help in this thread odia.

Well after my Samsung GSII got licked by a dog, a slow black was spreading across my screen like a cancer, I sent it to get fixed. Got it back and everything was working fine. But since my operator has a custom OS thats is Hebrew only, I usually flash a different ROM, this time I didn't even get to it. I rooted my phone, it worked, and when I was installing Clockworkmod recovery, my phone bricked, I fixed the brick by using a official Samsung OS, 2.3.6 I think, and this is where I think things went bad. First my phone started thinking its an Epic 4G, than a S1, a note, and now its back to thinking its an S2. Inside the OS my home button doesn't work, but I can access Recovery and Download, can't use home button in recovery though, it wont let me. And whenever I try to flash a different rom, Odin always gets stuck at "Nand Write Start!!" and than it says "Complete(write) operation failed", I have had no success with anything since than.
Summarized:
Home button works since I can access Download and Recovery, but I can't use it in recovery.
My phone keeps thinking its a different phone.
Odin wont let me flash anything with a "NAND write start!!" I have had success flashing kernels though.
Thanks in advance, I really dont wanna take my phone to be repaired again, only got it back yesterday
Why don't you start with the basics and tell us your exact model number (found under your battery) and what you've actually flashed on your phone since getting it back from repair to get you into this mess.
Models GT-I9100T
The only things ive flashed are:
Clockworkmod
And when I got into the brick mode I surfed the internet, and found this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18859438&postcount=199
Which has also been flashed, and my friend told me to try N.E.A.K which has also been flashed, and a stock kernel. Thats all I think, if I remember anything else ill add it, but im pretty sure thats all.
In that case, you've flashed something meant for the I777 on your I9100T.
Flash a stock I9100T ROM and don't just flash willy nilly on your device in future lest you'll end up with an expensive paperweight.
Mind linking me one? i really dont wanna mess something up again.
Thanks in advance ^^

I do, because your blatant disregard for the rules annoys me, but I guess I will anyway.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278 or http://www.samfirmware.com/
I don't really understand how you can mess up again, with the knowledge that you have an I9100T, not an I777 or any other random device you feel like flashing the firmware for.
Both me and you completly disregarded something, I still can't flash anything because it just stops at "Nand write start!!" and than says "complete(write) operation failed"

If you are flashing using the correct tools and firmware and following the instructions .
Ok you cannot flash and the message is more or less probably telling you that the NAND is damaged .
Means a service centre replace motherboard .

{EDIT} Opps Sorry JJEgan has come up with the correct response.
I tried flashing a GT-I9100t 2.3.6 stock rom, and a 4.0.3 stock rom both failed and are stuck at the exact same place.

I'm going to take that by that you mean I need a new mobo for it?

Are you able to get into recovery mode still? For download mode make sure your holding down the correct key combination to get into download mode. You can also try using a USB Download jig which you can get from here, which when plugged into the phone will force the phone into download mode. As a fair warning the download jig's don't usually work with newer model phones but for a couple bucks it's worth a try. Let me know if you still have questions.
Motherboard dead?
Sorry to invade this post. I would just like to have confirmation on my device and it's pretty similar to what is found here. The only way I can access download mode is by pressing Q+Power and then adding the battery. Odin connects to everything, I can even flash the firmware from Bell for my Galaxy gt-i5510M and it PASS. But I can't still power it up, is the motherboard or something similar dead?
Thanks

If your device can still access download mode and Odin can successfully connect to your device an flash the firmware your device's motherboard is not dead. Try re-flashing the firmware to your device and checking auto-reboot option in Odin this way when the firmware finishes flashing the device will automatically reboot and hopefully power on then.
Thanks for the fast answer, you've been answering 3 people back on this thread, impressive.
Unfortunately I made sure of that, the auto reboot was checked but it doesn't reboot the device. I wanted to put a screenshot but I didn't realize you need around 10 posts to be able to post outside links. I've been looking through xda for a while but never posting.
I'm used to adb, so Odin is a bit new I have to admit. I've put the ops file, callisto in this case, in the appropriate ops , and then the One Package file I got from samfirmware "I5510UGKC5_I5510BMCKC5_BMC". Is there something else I could flash? It wouldn't be like some other phones where I could put down a Custom Recovery, go back to stock, etc. ?

To clarify did you put the firmware in the correct slot in Odin (PDA slot in this case) when flashing? Also double check your flashing the correct firmware for your device, as that could also be part of the problem.
Well you figured some things that were wrong. I was putting it in the one package slot. So I tried in the PDA slot, but it said "Invalid Image Type". From the sticker inside the battery compartment, it does say it's the GT-I5510M, so the 551 from Bell Canada it seems. But it's not easy to find a firmware for it, and the only one I found is at sammobile. There's plenty others under GT-I5510, but they're all European.
Any idea what I could use instead? The full name of the firmware I have is: "I5510UGKC5_BMCKC5_HOMEDOWNLOAD_TEST.tar" or "I5510UGKC5_I5510BMCKC5_BMC.zip" for the zip.
Thanks a lot for following this.

You can try ignoring the "Invalid Image Type" error and trying to flash anyway just don't unplug your phone from Odin until it fully completes the process.

sorry to interrupt you people.. but are you sure that it is a proper firmware file. because the pda file is .tar file. also, try entering the recovery mode and flashing a cwm recovery. then check if the system is mounted.

I can't access recovery mode, only download mode by simultaneously putting the battery back in and pushing Q+Power. But I am wondering also if it could be a wrong firmware... Can I just flash a custom rom through Odin? Would that make up for it? Anything to having back in working order.

Hey peeps
Ok I've been at this for two straight days now in order to try and unbrick this Telus Fascinate SGH-T959P
My buddy initially attempted to flash it with something and really messed it up to the point that even the battery wouldn't charge.
I don't even care if I get it to stock.. an amazing Rom/Kernel combo will also work.
So this is where I am today... and I have spent the last two days non-stop trying to fix this thing...I have been through sooo many forums posts and websites my brain is about to cook.
Software I am using
Odin v1.7 and v1.83.. I try to use the newest one.. just in case.
ADB / SDK installed and am able to push files across to the sdcard in my phone... everything seems good in that dept
Files that have got me to where I am today
T959TLJL3 Froyo original firmware (apparently)... but can not flash all of the files from the package ..zimage and a few others just fail to flash
s1_odin_20100512.pit file (Have atlas_v2.2.pit also but haven't had as much success with it)
SGH-T959-Stock_plus_voodoo_CwM_2.3.4v2
su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed
I can successfully boot the phone into download mode every single time using the volume up and down while plugging in the usb cable
Also if i just hit the power button I get a Telus 4G / Samsung splash screen and then the phone boots into CwM Voodoo Recovery v3.0.2.8x (Orange??)
In the CwM recovery mode, I can now finally mount all partitions and it looks like things will flash.
Now that I've finally got this phone to this point, I don't want to mess it up.
I want to make sure I have the right files to complete this little project.
Need some direction from the pros.. Am I able to flash a custom rom now ? And if so, what one is best to use.
From this point how can I revert to stock? Do I have the right files ? And how since Odin fails to flash the ones I have.
I figured going to stock first was easier, then use Kies to update it.
Show me the way
Thanks.
jROC
Wow... I got it .. Finally... After I figure out exactly what I used for files.. I will let you know.
All I can tell you right now is that I was flashing a single files at a time then powering down and coming back into download mode to flash the next file.
Right now the phone is all booted up and Running Android v2.3.3 (GB LKG2) and even tho the phone is actually a T959P.. the boot screen shows up as a T959D. Interesting.

No single file that I downloaded was able to flash the phone.
I ended up flashing individual files... and kinda had to mix and match, but was able to get the phone booting back into Android OS
However the phone was missing the EFS folder with IMEI info and such..
Still was not able to recover it 100%.
Message me with your email and I will try to send what I used.

To do it, get this file.
https://gofile.io/?c=tJd0Pd
Then get odin v1.85
https://gofile.io/?c=WHkZHO
Launch odin with admin powers (sudo/su for linux, or whatever).
Then click PDA and select the tar.md5 file and start.
Hopefully it soft bricked not hard bricked.

I don't have the phone or any software related to that phone. That post was from 7 years ago.
I have the Korean SK Samsung Galaxy Note. I tried to root it tonight using the galaxy note II dev kit (was that my first mistake?) I picked the model number closest to mine and did everything as recommended. I got up to the Odin tool and followed those directions to a tee, but after that it just got stuck on the Samsung logo and wouldn't go anywhere after I closed the Odin tool.
I got the bright idea to hold the power button and the top volume buttton to hard reset. Now it is stuck on a drained battery screen with the loading logo just frozen in the middle of it.
Help?

what happens when you pull battery?
can you get download mode?
ALWAYS check your "Super Everything Thread".... it's in the General Forum. post#3 deals with Korean model
flashing wrong firmware usually results in brick. if you can get download mode, from what I understand, your OK.
go to super everything / rooting / read / read / read............I thought d/l mode was vol down and power. could be wrong.
follow instructions and let us know what happens. nothing worse than offering advice and not knowing if you helped.
Thanks for the advice. I did finally get into download mode but I can't really figure out what to do now. I think I just want to go back to stock. I tried doing it through KIES but that isn't working. If I use Odin, will it work?

don't let one bad experience ruin it.
not many are willing to follow the advice. I know your new here. the advice is always read, read, read. feel as confident as you can in what you are doing. it took me the better part of a month to work up the courage to flash anything.
first thing.............get rid of the Note 2 file that you flashed. don't need to go through that again.
read super everything again and again if needed. get all the files you need together. walk through the processes in your head.
you should have Odin opened up when you go into D/L mode. wait for phone to register "com #?"
make sure you run Odin as "administrator"
go slow..........its a marathon not a sprint. whats you hurry.
check Youtube for a tutorial......make sure everything is for YOUR model
---------- Post added at 08:57 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:50 AM ----------
Odin is the best and easiest way to return to stock, but you still have the same process to go through
Okay I tried to flash stock with Odin through download mode and everything seemed to work perfectly. It boots past the Samsung logo but NOW it gets stuck on the spinning T (I think it's a Korean thing) that is floating in space. Ugh, this is so frustrating.
I just want to get my phone back to normal at this point...

the T may be a Korean thing??? couldn't tell you for sure.
I may have gotten stuck at a similar point with my model.
I think 1 time I ran the Odin again and maybe another time I pulled battery and rebooted. but you have movement. we have had some files lately that just take longer to completely boot up.
patience
How long are you waiting for the spinning T to go away? It may take several minutes. Give it some time. And you are trying to install the stock SHV-E160 ROM and not something close?

I'm trying to install the 160S rom from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1899200
I've left the spinning T for about 20 minutes. SIt flashed okay in Odin but nothing is moving forward. I keep reading about the Tegrak rom and Clockwork recovery but I don't really know what those are. Should I try to read up more on that and try to that?
I'm not sure how that would work. I never saw or installed a rooted ROM using odin. I would think you would need a custom recovery first since all versions of superuser require it. Just guessing. So you have the E160S version? Try to use google to find a 100% stock (non rooted) ROM to install using Odin. I tried to search myself and found many links but was unable to read because of the different language. Maybe you will do better.
Also what version of odin did you use? Try to use the latest version 3.07
Root and recovery have nothing to do with each other.
You can be rooted with stock recovery,
Or have a custom recovery without root.
I've released a pre-rooted custom Rom .tar for use from going from bones stock to that Rom.
Not saying this isn't broken, just that it's doable.

I've used 3.07 and 1.85 trying to flash the rooted rom I posted. I haven't been successful in finding a 100% stock ROM either. I do have E160S. I will keep looking for a 100% stock ROM
