I decided to do a "best case scenario" test, and see if some of my battery issues were from apps gone awry, or some other drain. I pulled my phone off the charger right after it went green, and let it sit on the table. Wifi is off, BT is on, and I'm using my airave, so the signal is a full 6 bars all the time. I have 3 email accounts configured. Two of them are direct push, and one is an IMAP poll once every 15 minutes. Few, if any, emails were received during this test. The breakdown is like this:
4hrs, 32mins on battery. Battery currently at 92%
Cell Standby: 33%
Phone Idle: 32%
Display: 23% (the display was only on for about 30 seconds of the entire test)
Bluetooth: 4%
Maps: 4%
Android OS: 4%
So at least i know there isn't a process running that is making my battery next to useless. My battery seems to be getting slightly better with each day of use, but I still can't wait for the extended battery/cover to be released. I really got used to that on my Evo.
Dave
that sounds a lot better than my setup.
I went from a full charge to 50% with very light usage in 8hrs . I've been asleep for over 7 hours.
Display: 29%
Cell Standby: 27%
Phone Idle: 26%
Android OS: 7%
Voice calls: 5%
Maps: 5%
However, I have horrible reception in my house, even next to the windows. All's fine as soon as i step out the door.
I've found that a weak signal has a dramatic affect on battery life with these phones. They do so much syncing in the background, and it takes so much longer with a weak signal (not to mention it has to transmit at a higher power). The signal makes all the difference.
Call sprint and get yourself an airave! They gave me mine for free.
Dave
do you guys have the display setting on auto or low brightness. My display usage is always through the roog. I am getting decent battery life. I turn 4g off usually and just use 3g unless I am gonna watch youtube videos or sometihng.
I unplugged the phone at 7:15 this morning and I have email, facebook all syncing. wifi off and I am at 92%. So far this phone is being very good at battery life, specially after the first few cycles.

I have mine set at a number. I use a program to change my brightness at night.
7.5hrs & 70% battery left!!
Is it better to have the brightness automatic or a number like 30 percent?

I just use auto brightness, I had about 11 hours use and 80% remaining taking a bunch of pictures, a little navigation and texting. This is with wifi on about half the time.
My battery was crap for the first three days with the phone, after calibrating the battery and giving it a few cycles its been really good for me. I do top off the battery usually before I pull it off the charger for the day.
I have mine set to auto and I see it changes even as I'm typing this message. Truth be told, the battery does drain when we don't have good signal...

Auto brightness us worse for your battery. This is because it has to use sensors every set time interval to check the lighting. It's not a TERRIBLE drain, but over the course of 4-5 hours it would probably save you 5-6% if you set it something lower .
And to the other person who asked, your battery life is SIGNIFICANTLY lowered when you have poor signal. What happens is your phone's radio draws extra power when it has poor reception in order to boost its range/signal. For those of you who work in places with poor signal, I bet you can attest to this
Also, I have a few battery tips in my signature if you're interested in more. It's slightly outdated (as in there are more methods now), but everything in the article is still true

Fully charge your phone, then use it until the battery complete drops...Then charge it again
How many cycles have people run on their batteries? IE full to dead?
I have auto brightness, GPS on Bluetooth on, email sync every 3 hours, weather sync evey 3 live wallpapers, and I forget the rest. Battery lasts me 12-24 hours, which is about what I got with my Hero modded out with setcpu and etc. I like the battery life of this phone.

My phone died in about 6-7 hours of steady drain, then I calibrated by doing the same thing they told us to do with the OG evo.
Charge over 8 hours, turn off the phone charge another hour, turn the phone on charge another hour.
I top off by using the phone for a couple minutes, then putting it back on the charger until full. The phone clearly goes down to 95% from full while charging and back up, I like how on this phone you can see that it does it on the battery graph so you know.
I've had my phone off the charger for like 34 hours and I'm at around 48 percent battery remaining. Not heavy usage but not super light either.

69% as of now. I had to reboot today so I can't say this is average. I know there are issues that can't be fixed until root, but as a stock ROM, it seems the power management isn't half bad.

Sense has always been pretty good about power management (especially when you consider the puny batteries they put in their phones), and an asymmetric dual core processor definitely doesn't hurt haha
I have found the battery life to be absolutely incredible on the ZW2 since I got it. I could go the whole day and night without an issue. Now though, for the past 2 days battery has been disgusting. I don't know what happened. I haven't installed anything for the watch since I got it, but all of a sudden I am going from 75% battery in 12 hours to 25% in 12 now. I am not using it more, in fact I think I am using it less. No additional software has been added. I don't think anything has been updated. Its as if something all of a sudden is killing the battery. Anyone else seeing this issue?
I have the same issue and had the issue with my LG G watch also. My phone normally drains faster as well when it happens. My solution is to reboot the watch. That usually solves it. Occasionally, I had to reboot my phone as well on the G watch. I'm in the habit of rebooting the watch every couple of days.
When i first got mine, 1.45in version, with always on screen, wrist gesture to wake, and screen on medium brightness enabled it wouldn't make it through 3/4 of the day.... just terrible. I tried it for two days and no luck. I then realized that i really didn't like or need the always on screen mode (especially since a touch or wrist gesture will show the time just as well). When i turned that off, it more than trippled my battery life. I use it very often now and at midnight i am at 50%.

I'll give that a shot, but I had great battery life for week then it stopped. I am not sure it will make a difference or not since I changed nothing and added nothing to the watch. It just went from awesome battery life to horrible battery life overnight....
plz can anybody tell me is Asus ZenWatch2 watch have a speaker to make call ??? thanks in advance
The watch has no speaker. In fact I don't think you will ever see a smartwatch with a speaker to make calls. Use a bluetooth head set with the watch and that would solve your issue. Also I appreciate you hi-jacking my thread though, god knows it's hard to start your own.

The Samsung Gear 2 and Gear S you can make and receive phone calls. I have the gear 2 Neo and I can answer my phone using my watch because it does have a speaker. It works rather nicely.

Let's stay on the topic here.
I noticed that the battery was draining from 50 to 0 overnight. Watch idle was the culprit.
So what I did is change watch face from Zenwatch to ustwo and noticed huge improvement.
Can someone test this out? Could it be an issue with Asus watch faces?
Thanks
OK So here is what I found. Using what @chrisb22 wrote, If I reboot the watch in the morning just after removing it from the charger battery goes into awesome mode. Meaning, past two days 7 AM to 10 PM ending the day at 68%, 70% respectively. Today at 7 AM I did not do the reboot, pulled it off the charger and started my day as usual. It is now 1:15 PM and I am at 27% Battery left. Looks to be a exponential battery drain bug in the software. @danix180 it very well could be the face. I am going to try the reboot tomorrow to confirm that I am not have the drain. If it gives me amazing battery life again I will try the Face and update.

I have found the more colorful the watch face, the battery drains quicker. Try a watchface that has a black background and see if this helps.

My watch had terrible battery life out of the box. A factory reset seemed to have fixed that. I also disabled google play services' keep awake permission on my phone (which vastly improved my phones standby time by more than 4x or more). I have always on screen on and am now at 57% after about 15 hrs (maybe a bit more). My biggest battery killer is watch idle at 8%, followed by something with no name or icon at 6%, then Android system at 3% and screen at 2%. Oled displays really dont use much battery when 90% of your display is black. I am hoping we can get root sometime so i can remove the unnecessary Asus apps such as asus weather, wellness and UP which may help a bit as well since they show up on my usage stats sometimes.
I can confirm once again that some asus watch faces are really what's causing the battery drain overnight. Last night it drained from 100 to 0 with the Gravity face.
With any other non Asus face overnight drain is 10% tops.. It could be one of those asus app like weather or wellness that's actually causing the issue
Just picked up my ZenWatch 2 over the weekend. Like others, I initially had great battery life but starting today it totally took a dive. I rebooted the watch and it seems to have slowed the burn rate dramatically. Will probably just get into the habit of rebooting it on a routine basis.

I use a WatchMaker face and my watch has been draining terribly, perhaps lasting 12 hours at most. I just started rebooting it every morning after taking it off the charger and now it lasts all day and into the next. I haven't changed to a built in watch face yet but that will be my next troubleshooting step.

Hey guys just got my zenwatch 2.. upgraded from a pebble. but so far its been a downgrade The battery I feel is defective. First day it made it about 6-7 hours. Second day it went to 6% in about 4 hours!! I have wrist gestures off and screen always on- off. its pretty much unusable I really wanted to make it work and I'm going to try a few more days . Then today I left it on the charger for like 6 hours and battery was reading at 92%??? I pull it off....boom drops 1% the other day I'd pull notification shade down and read bat. push it up and pull it down again and it would drop another point. It's crazy!!! I thiink I need to send it back to ASUS. I wish I could root it and throw another simple ROM or something. I really like the watch and was looking forward to android wear. Maybe its back to pebble. Any suggestions? and or will there be a root/rom for this watch do you guys think?. Thanks glad you guys are here to cry to lol

O.k. this sounds like a faulty device. especially the drop to 1%!
My Zenwatch2 lasts arount 24hours including sleep tracking during the night and charge every morning in the office. The charging cycle needs about an hour.
Battery drain was huge in the first 3 days because of constant fiddling with my new toy - i had to charge twice a day
Additional note: The zenwatch 2 has WiFi support built in. I had to ask google WHY this could be needed?! WiFi allows you to get notifications, even if you are out of reach of your telephone (BT-Connection broken). This also uses some battery - the zenwatch even notified me, it had disabled WiFi to use less battery. Could only be helpful in my own house, when the smartphone is out of reach. I changed the wlan timeout from the default 120 minutes to 15 minutes.

I agree with @pbaumi, this sounds like you got a bad device. Even when I had terrible battery life, my watch would still last about 8 hours with screen always on. I have screen always on and went from 86% to 48% in about 9 hours. Thats actually the worst ive seen it at for a few days as well.
I got an LG G5 2 weeks ago and the battery has been outrageously bad. I bought it used and the owned has owned it for 2 to 3 months. There is very little standby drain and the phone is cold to the touch within minutes. Overnight drain is around 10 to 12 percent with always on display which is normal considering the 1 percent per hour loss plus the normal overnight drain. However when I turn the screen on the screen on time is very poor only about 2.5 hrs to 3 hours. The screen brightness is set 20 to 40 percent no auto brightness. There appears to be nothing draining the battery with the screen being the biggest battery draining. I have location nfc Bluetooth and LTE turned off. Along with touch sounds and touch vibration but toggling these settings makes no difference. Its impossible to find out more because I have no root. If this battery continues to be this poor I'm going to be selling it because I cannot stand having to charge twice a day even with quickcharge 3.0 old xiaomi redmi note 3 lasted 2 to 3 times longer on the battery. Any ideas what could be eating my battery?
Hi
I get 4 to 5 hours screen on time and I use my brightness at 75% to 100%, never as low as 20-40% it's too dark.
What apps do you use when you do have the screen on? Maps and games will drop you to 2-3 hours screen on time like all phones, but normal apps (excluding snapchat) will give you 4-5 SOT.
I would turn off always on display, you won't miss it.
Eeeeh , your Android system and android Os are high , screen should consumpt most of the battery about 30-40% mine does 34% with 35% brightness and Phone idle 22% my android system at 9% android Os 6% , if you dont game you get nearly 1 day life from your battery but if you do you need 2-3 timers charging per day , also if you use Data it just sucks the battery like vacum. So there is a drain in your system but its true lg g5 consumps a lot in order to give you performance in priority and not power saving. Dont forget G5s are the only high range phone that you can swip your battery with no deal , they are giving you that feature , Use it!!! You can grab up to 3600mah (2800 stock) extended capacity battery with a wall charger from ebay really cheap and never again have a battery problem. Also this batterys are lithium ones , i saw in your pic 10% i suggest not to go below 20% you are killing really fast lithium batterys if you decharge them!!!

Always on display barely drains any battery. I use apps such as facebook, text messaging, messenger, instagram, chrome, etc. I rarely play games because the second I open a game the battery life is only about 1.5 hours sot.
Well Facebook and messenger should be a couple of alarm bells when talking about battery life surely? Also, you bought it second hand, you have no idea how the previous owner treated the battery in the time they had it no matter how short a period it was.

Hello friends
I have a problem with battery and also unable to turn on the WiFi after update.
I just bought my brand new G5 H860 TWN and updated it, which cause the whole device to malfunction.
please correct me if I'm mistaken. An update is meant to improve the functionality of a device not to destroy it.
Apart from this problem the interesting thing is that non of the LG customer cares know whats causing the problem,
A word of advice to LG. Please Do not make something that you don't know **** about.

Thanks for your advise my friend, factory resetting the device was the first thing i did, but i did not solve the issue.
i have tried the following:
-Flash other ROMs from different countries for H860
-booted the device into safe mode and tried to enable the WiFi and etc.
my WiFi MAC is set to 02:00:00:00:00:00 and it means that WiFi has not been detected by android. Also the Bluetooth address is defined as "unavailable".
and the worst of all is its battery drain issue which kill my battery within 5 hours in standby mode, while i can not notice any abnormal battery consumption in "BATTERY USE DETAILS" section in Battery usage setting. this probably means that some other consumer(perhaps the WiFi) uses the battery without being listed.

H860? H860 haven't got root nor custom ROM yet. Bootloader of H860's still locked.
I've got a brand new LG G5 which I have been using since Thursday and I honestly can say it sucks big time compared to my 2 year old Z3 which can easily get me 4 hrs SoD on mixed usage. Using the exact same set up of apps, location and wifi/mobile use, I am struggling to see more than 2.5hrs SoD with the G5. Honestly, it just drains battery like no tomorrow and this is fresh battery... I dread to think what it will be like in 2 years. Sony made a lot of mistakes but the Z3 really excelled...
Why does LG think it's ok to ship a watch with a 12 hour battery life, with minimal use. Just setting up the watch took %40 battery
Without sacrificing screen brightness is there anything to be done?? Is there any sort of root + cpu app we can lower CPU speed with??
Did you uncheck always on screen? Only option I have off and notice decent battery life for the entire day.
Mine goes for 16 hours once completely setup. If you start downloading and setting up this will surely tax the battery on any watch. The 240MAH doesn't help, but once setup it should be fine afterwards.
I had the LG G Watch R (w/ 420MAH) prior and setting up took a good deal of the battery but at EOD was at 65%, while the Style is at 40%.....understandable given the size of the battery.
I found mine was going dead by mid afternoon with little use.
I found turning auto screen brightness off and just leaving it on 4 helps. Also think after a couple of weeks use it's got better anyway. Usually on about 40-50% by the time I leave work.
Main problem I have is the little dial on the side is in a crop place, so my hand keeps pressing it an making assistant listen, eating up battery.
Really wish there was a screen rotation option so I could wear the watch with the dial on the opposite side.
Oh well!
I would like to see more options for ambient mode. I think the brightness is too high. I've only found one watchface that lets you control the color in ambient mode. It's called "line". I changed the ambient color to just red and decreased the opacity of the lines and complications. I've been off the charger for about an hour, received a few notifications and I'm still @ 99%. Might be a fluke, but I'm sure using a single color uses less battery than using white, which is all 3 colors combined.
This is my third smartwatch in 2 weeks. I've downgraded twice because others are just too bulky. I'm sure there's a solution out there. I hope battery life gets better in time with updates. I hate this range anxiety.
I just bought one and it is still too early to tell but battery life is fine for me. If I disable Bluetooth (which I know defeats the purpose of it) and WiFi with no ambient, it lasted me about 2 1/2 days (but I do turn it off at night since I have no need to keep it on while I sleep). If I keep Bluetooth on, no WiFi, and no ambient, it lasts the entire day (13 or 14 hours) with about 40% left. I have to do more testing (especially with ambient). You don't want the watch face on all the time anyway because it will cause screen burn-in. Some of the watch face apps allow you to use an ambient where it is usually black and white with less information showing.

Same here.
I looked everywhere. My battery is dead, it drops from 100% to around 30% as I disconnect it from the charger.
Even if we find the battery, the replacement looks hard. I was hoping to just get the Pixel Watch but I guess that's not going to happen.
Hi guys. Today I made a short video with opening of this device.
Enjoy.
https://youtu.be/LJ0vkpAjmjY
Just received my stratos last night and everything still stock. Went to sleep at 92% at around 1am and now 12 hours later it is at 61% with no music, gps usage. Only notifications and barely any interaction. Rebooted both phone and watch just in case that worked, but no.
Kindly advise why this 5 day battery watch is gulping away my juice?
So i read that bt is likely the culprit. Mine also constantly disconnects and reconnects even when watch and phone are with me.
I just changed setting to keep amazfit app always running and not to optimise bt tool, bt and amazfit app. Think this will prevent disconnect/reconnect? Let's see if this will stop the draining.
Or am i fighting a futile battle against a bug?
1. A few phones, notably Huawei models, have a problem where WiFi interferes with Bluetooth and you cannot get a stable connection, you can test this by putting phone in Airplane mode and enabling only BT and mobile data.
2. The watch may have bad antenna, to test this, pair it with a BT speaker or headphones and see how far you can get from the watch with the speaker/headphone. If it disconnects after only 30-50cm them probably it has bad antenna (normally GPS doesn't work as well in this case) and you should ask for a replacement.
More tips here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/smartwatch/amazfit/ultimatre-guide-battery-drain-issues-t3791829
It actually got disconnected after about 120cm away. Do i have a bad antenna?

120cm isn't very bad, can be interference. Bluetooth and WiFi use 2.4GHz frequencies. Any improvements when away from both your phone and router?
Non that I could notice.
Right now, the watch is in airplane mode and it barely lost 2% over the last 3hrs. I noticed when it was draining battery earlier on, bluetooth on my phone depleted 84% and almost killed my phone.

On average my is loosing 6% per night with continuous heart rate on and one alarm in the morning. I am on latest international firmware. Make shure that you do have a watch face which is updating only once a minute. Auto back light should be disabled at night.
My watchface has weather, calories and steps. I woke up with 93% at 6.30am. Auto-airplane mode off at 7.30am. It is now 79% after 7 hours just using notifications. Not very impressed with battery life. At this rate, I have to charge it daily or it will go flat in less than 3 days. I don't even dare to turn on continuous HR.

You are probably receiving a lot of notifications. I don't need notifications on my watch. It is for sports and I have a smartphone. Comparing to Garmin Vivoactive 3 I can say that battery life for me is the same. One exception is during long duration cycling it is consuming more energy because of the bigger display which is always on.
So far maybe about 30-40 Whatsapp messages/notifications. Is this a lot?

I lost 10% within an hour that was when I noticed it was disconnected and failed to reconnect back. At this rate, it isn't even going to last me 2 days. This is really disappointing.
Try doing a factory reset on the watch. This fixed battery issue for me. Before it ate the battery in 24hours with nothing enabled. Now its 1 day 12hours since last charge and 81% remaining.
Worth a try..
Why would a factory reset be necessary on a new watch? It is less than 48 hours out of the box with nothing installed. Would a factory reset even be useful in this case?

Anyway I went ahead and factory reset the watch. Hope it clears this battery drain issue.

Beats me. Should'nt be necessary. But it worked for me. Hope it works for you too.
It's gone crazy after a reset. The charging will disconnect/reconnect non stop, even when attached to a PC via usb outlet. Stratos' drive will connect/disconnect non-stop as well. The only way I can charge the watch now is if I switched the watch off, if not it can't charge. It doesn't appear to be a charging issue since it can charge when watch is off. Factory reset multiple times and updated to latest fw still the same.

Until today i havent even gotten 2 days of usage out of the battery. this is depressing.
Battery drain issues
My new Stratos also facing battery drain issues here, at first when i pair my watch to my phone (Samsung Galaxy Note 3) is was fine. Battery drain percentage was not too horrible. On the next day, my watch started to received notification regarding my phone is too far away from my watch, but i notice that my phone is just nearby my side. Plus, this notification can be received a couple times a day. Then i notice that my watch is drain battery very fast, about 10% per hour.
On the same day, i unpair my watch from my phone (Samsung Galaxy Note 3), and pair my watch to another phone (Samsung Galaxy Note 4). *Note, please backup your data from your watch if needed, because once you unpair the watch from phone it will do a factory reset. (Is a pain in the ass that i have to re-download the watch face again). And charge up my watch to full 100% at 10PM at night and leave the watch bluetooth continue pair with my phone over night. On the next morning around 6:30 am, when i check on my watch battery percentage, its only drop 1%.
Still unable to confirm whether the issues is it cause from both of my phone having different BT version (Note 3 is BT 4.0) and (Note 4 is BT 4.1), or my Note 3 is already old and the circuit board are having problem. I still need to monitor this battery drain issues on my Note 4 to confirm the result. Hence, I'm not a heavy user, i don't received a lot of notification everyday.
