it should be here is a day or two. After charging and connecting to the Amazfit watch IOS app, then what? get the bootloader unlocked and install TWRP?
I wouldn't do anything until it's at least 2 months old: unlocking bootloader voids warranty, so make sure the watch is working fine in the first moths. There is little need to flash a custom ROM nowadays.

I will take your advice and wait. Why do you say there is little reason for custom ROMs? I was looking forward to see if I could modify an existing one.
There are only minor differences between International and Chinese versions nowadays, and the the timeframe between updates to both are smaller too. Recently the INTL version was even updated with a feature before the CN version...

Mi.com account , so you can use it with CN firmware and other features. Otherwise, either.
PS: never install AmazMod with WD, the later interferes with Amazfit Bluetooth communications.

You must take in account also the fact that installing the above application( amazmod or watch droid) will discharge the battery much faster, probably you will have 1 or 2 days between the charges of battery

I am in AmazMod's developers team, and I am sure it doesn't affect battery drain if no other app that uses Bluetooth is installed and it's configured properly (of course, if you WANT to enable ALL FEATURES with MAXIMUM battery usage, then you can and then it will obviously drain more battery). You don't even need to install service APK on watch for it to work (basic notifications management as proper notifications for WhatsApp and other messengers).

I use AmazMod and no difference in battery consumption with or without it (4-5 days). I also have WatchDroid Assistant installed on my watch but connection services turned off (I don't use both at the same time) so I can occasionally test the new version when it comes out without the need to install it every time, just upgrading it.
When only using AmazMod I can say the connection in my case is perfect. It works without problems for days. But when I use WatchDroid the connection tend to break after a day or two and I have to restart either watch or the phone to make it work again.
Also when only using WatchDroid battery consumption maybe is just a little bit worse but not much.
Watch is here. I created Mi account and paired the watch. Looks like it needs WiFi to do a firmware update which i did not. Fully charging the watch before i do anything else.
can't i use TOOL ALL IN ONE to add file manager, etc? Which file manager is being recommended?

After all discussion the conclusion is clear, don't change the original ROM!!!
I will keep that in mind.
Which file explorer is recommend and where is it located?
Edit: Amafit watch asked to installanew firmware update. Take it or wait until I sideload apps?
You can install any APK you want, it won't void warranty. Simply don't unlock bootloader or flash anything on it. So far, all firmwares can be unlocked using the existing procedures so it's safe to update. If it ever changes, "watch" the unlock thread.

Any benefit to pushing files via ADB versus Tool all in one?
With file explorer, can you find existing watch faces, copy one to download subdirectory to transfer to PC for editing?
Edit: forgot needed root to access them. Where can I find watchfiles to edit?
Installed Droid mod with no problems. Any other suggestions?
For custom ROM installation, is it better to use TWRP, or follow the instructions in the OP?
Bootloader is unlocked. Should i root the current OS or install TWRP first?

Hi. This is the first time I will root and flash a phone. Of course I can't use my phone during the process itself, but what about after I root? I am a busy person and most likely I won't be able to root then flash in the same day.
How long does the root process, and then the flash process, take about? Estimates?
After I root, I can take and receive calls and SMS right away right? No waiting to do other things first? How about after I flash? When I get done flashing, can I start to use my phone again?
I am just nervous that it will take so long and I have to go for a meeting or my boss or student needs to talk to me, etc...
Thanks, LGnationrc
After you root and/or flash ROM. Assuming you did a full wipe, you'll have to set the phone up.
Basically the touch the Android robot and sign in to your Google account.
Phone and SMS should work right after that.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
Just remember to backup your contacts or remember to sync it to Google Contacts before you start (go to sync in settings, choose your account and tap "Sync Contacts".
ok thanks guys. I can't find this "thanks" button but I give you guys one each!
I think I will just do a root first, before I get into flashing. Rooting seems easy and fast. I have everything really to go, I just want to read up and get more information before I dive in.
After I am all done, flashing too, I basically want a faster phone (no more lag!) and I want to be able to run skype (I can't with my LG Optimus X2) and I want to remove that stupid and loud shutter sound when i record once and for all. Maybe I can free up some battery life too. I only get about 10 days before she is shut off dead. I only have about 20 apps. Maybe I can remove all the build crap apps too.
When I finally have the time to do it, I will let you guys know how it went. And report any problems I have if any. Thanks, lgnationrc
Just to clarify, the rooting process itself will not change the usability of your phone afterward. Until you choose to flash a custom ROM you can run your device with it's stock ROM as long as you like. In my case, I used a clean rooting method (not a one-click method) and it took 10 minutes to complete. I did spend quite a bit of time reading up on the subject beforehand.

Ok, whats the difference between oneclick method and a "clean" root method? Why a "root" vs. a oneclick method?
That is fine. I just want to get the process started. As long as I can take this in steps and still be able to use the phone in between steps.
What is the percentage of chance that I brick my phone trying to do this?
Thanks, lgnationrc

Both are rooting methods. With some devices there are apps designed to root you at the click of a button. Sometimes this is great and sometimes it can cause problems. With my phone, HTC G2, I used a process that takes a tad bit longer, but I was able to see what was going on each step of the way. My point was simply that rooting doesn't usually take long at all. If you already have a good method in mind stick with it and don't let me confuse you. And all this said - I did use a program called z4root to root my old CLIQ and it worked great. If you do find a one click method just be sure to do your homework on it, and be sure it's not causing more harm than good.
And I can't give you a percentage in terms of bricking your phone. If I were you I would just read instructions, then re read, read the posts by other users... read as much as you can. If you don't understand something, do a Google search. And when you feel comfortable, go ahead and do it. Flashing a custom ROM is simple and really does breathe new life into your phone. Good luck.

Good news. I rooted my LG last night. No problems, went fast. I will wait to flash a few weeks before I feel really comfortable and read as much as I can.
But one problem I have right now is, I can't delete the factory apps. I have Astro file manager and I try to delete facebook but I keep getting "Error deleting" message.
And I am trying to figure out how to remove that stupid shutter sound when I record video. I guess there is a law in Hong Kong (thats where I bought the phone) that before you record there has to be a loud shutter sound. Nothing works. I can't figure it out. Any ideas?
I also haven't backed my phone up yet. I have to get the software still.

First thing I would do is flash Clockworkmod recovery. This will allow you to create a backup (nandroid) of your device in its current state. This way, if any of the changes you might make cause unwanted side effects, you can always restore. If you download Rom Manager in the Market, it should contain the recovery for your device.
Astro will not allow you read/write access to the system. I would install ES File Explorer. It's a free file manager app on the Market, and it will allow you access to system files, where you'll be able to do things such as remove the shutter sound.
You have to be careful deleting system applications from your ROMs. Some are necessary. Facebook is not, obviously... but you're better off leaving the stock system apps alone and flashing a custom ROM where you'll have many more options. Also, FYI, Titanium Backup is useful for creating user app/data backups, and also in that is allows you to freeze apps which essentially makes them unavailable... however, they can also be easily restored (defrosted) if need be. Happy flashing.
Ok, Those having the battery drain issue.
1. You have tmobile's Samsung Galaxy 5.
2. You notice a battery drain while the phone is not in use.
3. You may have installed wake lock apps, etc, and noticed the drain was caused by "Android System"
1. To apply Fix: You must have root, and Odin.
2. Flash the rom listed here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2720382&page=3
And uninstall Google+ with root uninstaller from system after. Be sure to download ad-away using F-Droid to block ads again.
3. After finishing, be sure to visit wifi > advanced settings >and untick the optionkeep wi-fi on during sleep to Never. or (while charging).
4. You may optionally turn of motion sensors, smart stay etc.. but this isn't required.
The culprit is Carrier IQ, Knox AND Google+. On stock rom, it allowed me to uninstall SOME components of the blasted spywares, but not all, even with root uninstallers. Luckilly the flashed ROM took them off completely. You must rid of ALL 3 of these irritants to fix the problem. Apparently there have been multiple threads here of frustrated users. I am going to contact tmobile at some point, and outline the issue. I find it REALLY odd that there is spyware on the phones in the USA.
Since then, MY GOD my battery lasts, and the phone doesn't get wake locked.
After 1 hour of testing, already seeing a noticeable difference. Please try this and confirm the same so we can get this bloody aggravating battery issue solved.

Lol right.. Now that makes me wonder about carrier iq does.
Thank you, just finished following all these steps now! Just so I'm clear, if you install the custom rom, you don't need to disable all the things listed in the last paragraph, right?
So I don't have this device yet, but from the sounds of it, it looks like a real serious issue that can potentially drive novice users away and give S5 bad rep. It still baffles me that Samsung (or the carrier) can compromise the device to such extent that its barely usable.

From what I can understand, the custom ROM removes Knox and Carrier IQ, but you still have to remove Google+, and install adaway.
But my question, can't I just use titanium with root and remove those three apps without flashing a custom ROM?

Well I tried that but Knox and carrier iq can't be removed even with root and battery issues persisted. As the question involving removing Google plus yes that's required too. You have to flash then remove Google plus. After that the rest is optional.

Thank you on support and info.
I will try this later today, I found this guide yesterday but wanted to ask for every additional info, just in case.
I will check is bootloader unlocked, if it is unlocked(by seller) should I stay on this custom/vendom ROM?
Btw, I have problems with fingerprint, it does not work when phone 'sleep' for about minute or longer, when I unlock and then lock the phone, then it works 10 times, after that it again does not detect finger.
Can that be ROM problem?
Sometimes phone laggs a bit, specially while typing on facebook messenger.
Phone passed Antutu Officer, so it is genuine.
If I can trust that test, lol

Thanks, great!
I just found a problem.
High battery use by Android System 20% and Android 12%
Is there any fix for this?
On previous unofficial ROM from Vnedor, both were bellow 10%.
I have read some topis but I can't find a solution.
Just checked mine, Andriod sys 18% and Andriod 12%...... On my redmi note 2, both are running at 3%, so does seem a bit high.
Maybe I have to wait one or two full charges to settle?
This is my first charge, I got 2h on screen time and 75% battery left, which is not bad,
but would be great to put both under 10% of usage.
I hope somebody found a fix.
Screenshot of usage..
Even system launcher are using battery too much, since I'm using Nova launcher primary.
I had battery drain issue as well. Battery usage usually ranges from 30% to 50% overnight (roughly 8 hours during night), which I considered exceptionally high.
My solution is to turn off auto sync function from setting-sync, but the con is that you have to sync apps/accounts manually.
Thanks on advice, but..
Sync is off.

I have looked around and only found stuff for Pace. And also those sideloaded Google apps, is it possible on the BIP as well?

Be sure you have latest update of:
Watch app (3.2.0-Play) - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.huami.watch.hmwatchmanager&hl=en
Watch Verge (ROM) (3.2.5.0)
Then go to Amazfit watch app:
1. Open app
2. Profile
3. Amazfit Verge
4. Scroll to down
5. Notifications settings
6. Must be market/checked these: a) Push notification (must be red dot) b) in Push notifications must be added app which in yours phone is responsible of incoming calls. Also keep in my must be all permissions enabled, after update sometime need to enable it again. If still will not helps, do factory reset of watch Verge, with re-install app Amazfit in yours phones (I doing like this often, helping me), but without restore of data in Amazfit app. It's important !!!
IMPORTANT: After factory reset in watch you will lose that day activities information. But don't worry it must be show in Amazfit watch app anyway, you just couldn't to see it in that day when you will do factory reset in watch, past days must be showed. For me working everything like this

Sad Did you tried to connect/pair with other smartphone? Factory reset of watch Verge for me most time working, re-install of Amazfit watch app asking all the time to give permissions from new, so you ca be sure that you will gives it 100% right, but if you after all these steps still have this problem, you just can try to connect/pair with others smartphone, even with the same account, if working on others smartphone, that's mean with your S10 something wrong, if no and problem persist maybe you using AmazMode app or something like this? Then developers will help you better
My smartphone is not rooted, in watch is official ROM and I using it without any 3rd parties apps software and ect.
yes, with Pocophone it works very well. THe issue with Samsung is double sim. If I turn off one of the two sims the calls arrive to the Verge about once in every 10 tries. The other 9 the Verge vibrates a bit then stops and the call is not shown. I only get the notification of missed call. If I turn on both sim cards the Verge doesn't receive the call. Is there a way to inform AMAZFIT developers of this?
Are you using the stock Samsung ROM? Did you try installing a third party app for calls, like Contacts+?
You can send feedback from the app's help section (probably it will arrive in the Chinese support) or use this link if you have an International model:

I think it not just for call If you using everything stock then strange and I advise you to talk with Amazfit Support in https://en.amazfit.com/support.html (Global, via mail) or https://support.amazfit.com/hc/en-us/categories/360001563933-Verge-Smartwatch. But I don't know why, but I have feelings that you doing something wrong, it can be that you did not gave permission for call notifications. As I mentioned try to factory reset (sometime it helping after several times), app to delete and re-install after reboot of smartphone, I don't have smartphone with PIE, but in these steps I don't think is something big differences as is in Marshmallow Good luck :highfive:
